Source for motion video backgrounds?

I need some motion video background for my keynote presentations. Cost is only a minor concern.
I have looked at digital juice and digital hotcakes. Are there other good sites I'm missing.

You can also use Quartz Compositions in Keynote, which offers more flexibility than pre-generated motion video if you're willing to muck about with Quartz Composer. (We've used this at work for a multimedia school show that runs partially on Keynote, and the results have been fine.) Some QC backgrounds can be found at QuartzCompositions.com.
I have the sense that, in many circumstances, using Quartz Compositions may require less horsepower from the computer (and thus yield better performance) than using pre-recorded video, but I'm not sure -- does anyone know?

  • Switching video source for live video streaming

Is it possible to switch the video source from a video
capture card to a standalone video during live video streaming? We
are streaming live TV and we want to skip playing any
    advertisements.
If this is not possible, what is the best way skip playing
any advertisements? Do we have to do it at the client player level
i.e. catch an event from the video player and play a predefined
video when the live video stream is stopped?

Thanks for reporting your fix. That news could be very important to those who delete events from their hard drive to save space, but may want to reload them later to do some editing.
It sounds like the key is re-importing with exactly the same name as before.
Just curious: What kind of camcorder? Was it MiniDV tape? Flash? Hard drive? DVD?
It strikes me that with tape it might be difficult to reimport an exact match. If you start on a different frame, the pointers could be off. But if that is not the case, it is very good news.

  • Using LT for motion menu background – problems

I’m trying to use a LT texture (Canvas>Sinopia) as a motion menu background. I exported 30 secs of the rendered texture direct from LT. The QT file size is 1.09 GB. Couldn’t get it to work in DVDSP. Took that file into FCP and re-exported it using custom settings. File size now 108.7 MB. Still doesn’t work in DVDSP.
Should I be putting the 30 second file through Compressor? Is it the large file size that is causing the problems?
Importing the .lpr file into DVDSP also doesn’t work (although I prefer to pre-render all assets, otherwise DVDSP slows to a crawl).
I’ve now tried the texture as a 5 sec version (20 MB file) – works fine, but there’s an annoying jump in the loop every 5 secs. If I could fix that, the menu would probably be OK.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Regards. Robert.

Both solutions worked. Wish I could award 2 solved stars.
Compressor produced an m2v file of 21.9 MB. I'm going with that because the workflow is quicker and simpler on my old setup.
Exporting as DV from FCP produced a file size of 103.2 MB. My DVDSP slows down with large file sizes, so I'll give it a miss. Or could still be me doing something incorrectly.
I'm working in SD PAL 16:9.
    Help was much appreciated.
    Regards. Robert.

  • Encore looping video background

In my Encore CS6 project I have a 60 second video background which I created in Premiere Pro and exported as an MP4 file.
I have set the background in Encore to loop forever, It works fine except when the video finishes there is a 2-3 second gap before it starts again
However during this gap the menu buttons are still on the screen.
This happened both in the preview window and on a burned DVD.
Any ideas would be extremely welcome.
    Brian

Export from PR as m4v, and if audio also, wav. The mp4 might work, but for menu video background, you link to the asset separately for video and audio.
Audio and video must be the same length, or you get a pause. Yours may have started the same length, but look at the lengths in the motion tab.
You won't know what you get until you test a burned disk on a player. some of the pauses in DVD/BD is due to seek time for the player; the pause may vary by player. Since you have tested this, I suspect an audio video mismatch.
You are doing DVD, just note that there is a bug for bluray that leaves a gap.

  • Audio not played for Motion Background

I have created a movie in my NLE as a motion background for a menu in Encore 2.0. When I preview the dvd project after rendering the audio plays fine but when I burn to dvd the audio is missing but the motion video still plays.
Why is this audio not playing on the burned dvd

In what form is the motion background when you bring it into Encore? Is it an avi? Is it compressed?
Is the audio stream a separate file?
If separate, is the audio stream a different length to the video file? Is the audio stream just a .wav file or what?

  • Final Cut Timeline Feed as video source for iChat?

I was at the Apple NAB presentation in Vegas a few weeks ago, and one of the things they showcased in regard to iChat AV was the ability for an editor to videoconference with several other people at once and one of the video feeds in the chat window was actually the output from the editor's Final Cut Pro timeline. As he made changes in the FCP timeline, he could play it out in real time and all the people in the chat could see the video feed and make comments on the edit.
OK- so we were excited because that's a workflow issue we have here. So, we bought some iSight cameras and Tiger and started to do some testing here. The only problem is that it doesn't seem very easy to set up. At first I just thought, "well, they are just playing the timeline out of the firewire port on the FCP machine and another computer is ingesting that firewire stream as a video source for iChat." except when you connect 2 Macs together with a firewire cable, the FCP system doesn't detect a DV video device to output to and the iChat system doesn't detect the incoming firewire stream as a "camera". I spoke to tech support and they said it's not something they support so no luck there.
I did find an article on Creative Cow about someone doing something similar, but it involved exporting the FCP timeline out through a Kona analog video card into an external tape deck that does analog to DV conversion which then can be imported back into iChat as a DV stream, but last time I checked, a Kona card would run me around 1500 bucks.
    Anyone have any other ideas?

    HI Jeremy,
Welcome to the Aple Discussion Pages.
Based on the Auto Responding iChat Accounts that play films I would guess they were either using an AppleScript to import FCP as the Video sourdce or usiing an Add-On like iChatUSBCam that also alows you to change the video source to the desktop.
iChatUSBcam has a new beta for Tiger http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/

  • On iPhoto you can click info and see which camera was the source for the photograph, is there any way to identify which camera took the video on iMovie?

Is there a way to determine which camera was the source for video clips in iMovie?  You can do this in iPhoto by clicking info but I can't find out how to do it in iMovie.

Not as far as I know.  (you can often tell from the file name format).

  • Use an incoming video feed as camera source for Adaobe Connect

We are looking for a way to use an incoming video signal -
say, from a Skype video chat - as the "camera source" for an Adobe
Connect webcast. So instead of using the attached webcam, the host
of our meeting would be able to broadcast the Skype video stream.
We need to be able to do this in real time, to ensure we stayin
sync with a separate audio channel (being delivered outside of
    Adobe Connect).
Anyone have any idea how to do this? Thanks in advance for
    any help you can provide.

Another option for external video is a USB video capture
device. These have been around for some time, and let you connect
composite or S-Video sources to your PC. Works great with Connect
Pro. The box in front of me right now is an Airlink 101 model. I
use Firewire (IEEE1394) input from a professional camcorder for
most of my sessions, in order to get the best quality video (that
then gets squashed by the compressor ).

  • Is there a similar website like Video Copilot for Motion?

I'm looking for a website that has tutorials on how to make special effects in Motion. In www.videocopilot.net they have really great tutorials. Thanks!

I could not agree more. Andrew Kramer is a diamond and I have brought both Evolution and Riot Gear and both content along with great tutorials make it a great website to learn and advance with products like motion..
Its just his very much after effects based so a motion version would be ace..
One thing I would like to see more from this WEBSITE is an option to show and share each others work.
As I dont really know what apple can do and achieve with someone who really knows what their doing.
I suppose its all Maya and after effects that is used by most of the production company's.
But check out this great motion video over at Vimeo.com and search (factory 311)
    www.vimeo.com/432066
This shows motion used and pushed to the max
Best work i've seen from someone using Motion 3!!!
    all the best

  • * JMF PlugIn Effect/Codec Filter for Motion Detection : Source Example *

I have noticed some posts on here recently about reading a webcams pixel stream and as at least one example the processing of that data for robotics, or another for motion detection or tracking.
This can mean a requirement for fast frame processing, setting the datasource framerate, and to implement as easily as possible; eg a simple JMF effect or codec plugin to set on the processor.
I have a link as follows to some source and examples for such plugin effects, and some of you may find this interesting if not also useful.
See an updated http://www.exactfutures.com/index02.htm for the new download. Enjoy.

    thanx Andy

  • Hi - Re Keynote  I'm trying to figure out how to create a music album on USB flash drive. What I want is a background picture with 'click-buttons' to play each track listed, also similar for embedded videos and photos etc.  Is this possible with Keynote ?

Hi - Re Keynote  I'm trying to figure out how to create a music album (as an artist) on USB flash drive, (accessible by both Mac and PC). What I want is a background picture with 'click-buttons' to play each track listed, and play in order (like a cd) - also similar for embedded videos and photos etc. This should all be on the one page.
Is this possible with Keynote, or any other software package for Mac (am using Macbook Pro) ?

    Hi there,
Yikes, it sounds like you've been doing a lot of work on this project... Unfortunately, however, this isn't the Adobe Encore forum, but the Acrobat.com forum. While it seems like an exciting question, we're not able to address issues pertaining to other Adobe products and services. Here's a link to the Adobe Encore forum, where you're more likely to get help for this specific issue:

Sorry not to be of more specific help to you. Best of luck!
    Kind regards,

  • Does anybody have the source code for playing video..?

Hi i am new to J2ME. Does any body have the source code for playing video?

The WTK includes a video player example. I would start by looking there. In addtion SE and Nokia (if I remember correctly) both have video examples on their developer web sites.
    The developer sites are

  • I'm looking for a video of a good, comprehensive demonstration of what Motion 5 can do.

All I can find so far are tutorials... any suggestions?

I don't know of anything like that. What have you not been able to figure out from the Apple web page for Motion?  It looks like you are using Final Cut Pro X, all of the titles, generators, transitions, templates are created in Motion. Companies like Ripple Training and MotionVFX create plug-in tools or templates that are built in Motion, so those are good places to see the capabilites in action.  I know these are brief, but here are some overviews by training companies that discuss what Motion can do:
    http://www.lynda.com/Motion-5-tutorials/Essential-Training/82541-2.html
    http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/motion5101-overview-and-workflow-guide
    http://www.rippletraining.com/categories/apple-pro-apps-tutorials/motion-5-tutor ials/getting-started-in-motion-5.html
Other than that, maybe you can explain what projects you might want to use Motion for or what capabilites you are looking for?

  • I am looking for a good video tutorial, or source for tree & foliage brushes

I have a map created in Illustrator CC. The area is heavily forested, so I need a good source for vector trees and foliage for brushes.

Just enter your keywords into Google and you might find this:
