Source of Flat File in a File scenario

Hey guys
i was just wondering wats the source of flat files which are used in File scenarios,i know it can come from anywhere but in a real world scenario, where do we usually get these files from(is it any server?)also if anyone of u has worked on any file scenario can u please tell me where exactly u were getting this file from.
all the scenarios i have worked with i waz just placing the files on FTP but i m pretty sure in a real world scenario, there should some central repository where all these flat files come from.
please tell me from ur real world experience where u were getting the file from.
you can e-mail me at [email protected]
thanx

Hi,
The answer for this is , it depends . I mean it depends on the Project Requirements, Organization , Company Policy etc..
So some project may implement these file servers as a part of the SAP system itself.
But many are not .. Because as per security rules, etc, there will be separate FileServer outside the SAP Landscape , but will in the same system landscape. So XI/PI will communicate this directly via FTP connections . So this folder will act as a FileServer.
for a XI developer, generally these file location informations will be given. so you need to pick or drop the files over there
Hope this helps,

  • SQL Server Source and Flat File Target in OWB

    Hello All,
I have a question, is it possible to have SQL Server as Source and Flat File as Target without using any intermediate Oracle table(s).
    like
SQL Server --> ETL Operators --> Flat file?
as i m getting errors in data type conversions here. but if i replace flat file with Oracle table it works fine. (though i have used some conversion functions for data types as well in Flat file loading but it is giving me errors)
    Thanks in advance.
    Tayyeb

Yes this should be fine. Are you using the gateway to access SQLServer or code template mappings? You need to track which columns are throwing the data type conversion errors.

  • Process sequence  in File - XI/BPM - File  scenario

how does QOS works within BPM,  Since some processes may take time to process for whatever reasons ( due to some delays ).
I'm planning to develop a scenario like this.
I have 7 files which have same Batch number as part of File name which Iam planning to use as Correlation in BPM.
    File 1 starts BPM.
Within BPM, all other 6 files will be received and sent out.
Then File 1 should be sent
Then I need to make SOAP call to trigger event on the 3rd party application.
    My question is
If I use EOIO as QOS on the Sender file adapters, how does the process works in the following situations.
    File 1 - Batch 1 arrives - BPM process 1 starts
File2 - batch 1 arrives - BPM process receivs and sends message
BPM here still waiting to receive files
    File 1 - batch 2 arrives - BPM Process 2 starts
All other files . Since all files arrived, all files will be be received and sent out in BPM.
    Now question is
BPM Process 1 is still waiting for other files to arrive and BPM process 2 is completed ( Are files will be waiting in Queue here ???)
Does writing of the files on the receiver side will be postponed until queue receives the files from BPM process 1 since I sued QOS as EOIO for all files ?
Would someone please clarify this please.

    Hi,
In this blog, I have used Business <b>Service</b> created in the integration directory.. This is an abstract . So I need to specify , the Sender and Receiver Interfaces explicitly in the business service. and it doesnot have any entry in the SLD.
But if you create the Business System in the SLD and if you import that into the Integration Directory-->Assign this into your configurations scenario, then this step is not required.
Regd. Importing Integration Process- BPM is kind of Abstract Service.. i.e BPM is acting as a Receiver Service and Sender service both..
i,e Source to BPM ( here BPM is a Receiver)
BPM to Target( here BPM is a Sender Service)
    Hope this clarifies..

  • Scenario File-XI-RFC-File

    hi,
I have send a file to a RFC  using XI.The RFC.response is being received by XI correctly in XI Monitor.
Now,I need to send this RFC.response to Flat file.
For this,What i need to do? The only way is using BPM?
¿all the interfaces should be async?
Can any body help me step by step in this regard..........
    I'm with XI 3.0 SP9.
    Regards,
    Antonio.

    Hi Antonio,
    In the <b>Integration Repository</b> (Design) :
    1. Create Data type, Message Type for Input file and Output file.
    2. Import the RFC.
    3. Now create Message Interface for both input (outbound type, asynchronus)and output (inbound type, asynchronus) files. Create Abstract Intefaces (asynchronus) for these two files.
    4. Create a synchronus Message interface for the RFC.
    5. Create the request (input file and RFC) and response( RFC.response and output file) Message Mapping.
    6. Create Interface Mapping (between the synchronus inteface created in step 4 and RFC)
    7. Create a <b>BPM</b> (Integration Process)with receive (input file), send (synchronus) and send(asynchronus).
    In <b>Integration Directory</b> (Configuration)
1.Create new Scenario. Assign the Business System from which RFC is being picked and new Business Service.
2.Specify three communication channel. One each for input (sender) and output file (receiver) and one for RFC (Receiver).
    3. Create the Integration Process.
    4. Create a sender Agreement (between File Service and RFC(Business System))
    5. Do three Receiver Determination and Corresponding Interface Determination
       a. File Service and BPM
       b. BPM and RFC(Business System)
       c. RFC and File Service
    6. Create two Receiver Agreement
       a. BPM and RFC (Business System)
       b. BPM and File Service.
    Hope this will be helpful.

  • Mapping error in file(FCC) to rfc scenario

    Hi,
i am trying to implement mapping in file (fcc) to rfc scenario. the source file is getting picked up, but the problem is arising during mapping. i am unable to generate the target structure. i am attaching mapping structure as follows
    Source Structure                           Target Structure: RFC
    storesales                                     -POSDW-CREATE_TRANSACTIONS_EXT
         recordset                                      it_transaction
           gmd_site_101                                 item
          gmd_site_102
          gmd_site_103
          gmd_site_104
here the recorset is mapped to item, and fields of subnode gmd_site_101 is mapped to fields of subnode item. similarly, for the other subnodes. but when testing with xml file, the target field is not getting generated. in FCC parameters, ignorerecordset name is set to "true".
any help would be very helpful..thanks in advance.
    warm regards,
    kartz

    hi
You can test the data using payload from SXMB_MONI in message mapping test tool so as you can get to know the reason of failure.
It would be better if you paste the error you are getting over there.
Check if you have maintained the namespace in CC or not. it should be same maintained if you have kept namespace in message type.
Also check in FCC parameters you must have used ignoreRecordsetName = true

  • File to Multiple Idocs scenario. Pls help

    Hi All,
For Single File to Multiple Idocs scenario i am referring blog --
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/877c0d53-0801-0010-3bb0-e38d5ecd352c
    Suppose my source file is
    AAA, BBB,CCC
    111,222,333
    ZZZ,ZZZ,ZZZ
I want to make 2 IDOCS for the first 2 records (AAA, BBB,CCC   and  111,222,333)
and do not want to make IDOC for the 3rd record  -- how to achive this.
    Regards

    Hi,
If the condition is like, for 'AAA' and '111', IDocs to be generated, then do as follows.
If IDOCs are of same type.
    1. Value
    > Equals -
    > createIf -
    > IDOC
       Constant('AAA')
    2. Value
    > Equals -
    > createIf -
    > IDOC
       Constant('111')
    3. Value
    > Equals -
    > not -
    > createIf -
    > IDOC
       Constant('ZZZ')
If 2 IDocs are of differnet types,
create different mapping programs with same logic.
If 2 IDocs are to be generated based on the record no in the file rather than the first field value, i think you can go for Global container.

  • File to Proxy synchronous scenario

    Experts,
I am working on a File to proxy synchronous scenario.
I am doing the content conversion at the sendre side by using java program as  input structure is very complex so have to go fr java code. Its a  txt file at sender side.
Once I read the file in XI, am doing a graphical mapping ( just one to one mapping)  then using the server proxy , a service entry is getting created then response am sending to the receiver.
My question is , can I use graphical mapping as I am using a java class for content conversion? both in one scenario is possible?
I have developed a java code  for content conversion and it is working fine. How to use this .jar file in XI?
Can Any one help me wz thsi one?
    Thanks in Advance
    Virendra

My question is , can I use graphical mapping as I am using a java class for content conversion?
You can use as long as the structure generatde by the JAVA program is same as the source-message structure of the message mapping.
I have developed a java code for content conversion and it is working fine. How to use this .jar file in XI?
In my opinion this should be the adapter module....as the conversion needs to be done in the channel and inclucing it as a mapping wont help.

    Abhishek.

  • Flat file to xml file

    hello
I am having a scenario a flat file to XML file. in the comm. channel of the sender I made a content conversion to the file and I see in the SXMB MONI and it looks ok. the output file, is declared as a file and I recieve an empty xml file.
    what am I missing?
why it doesnt go out through the mapping that I declared so I will get a valid XML with its data?
    Kfir

    Hi,
Please can you take the Sender side Payload from SXMB_MONI and try to test the mapping in Message Mapping ---> Test Tab.
See if you are getting the same results. Even check if you have properly map the Header nodes in Mapping.
    Thanks

  • Multiple flat files appended, is file locked until all processed?

    Hi All,
Have a scenario in place where we are collecting multiple flat files on ECC and using append mode on the receiver file adapter to create a single file for final output. We are only interested in submitting the output to it's target after all files sent to PI have been appended.
Does PI 7.0 lock the appended file until all files have been appended so I am sure I end up with a complete single file on output? If not, what are my options to ensure a completely appended file is output? Would it be a viable option to pass the appending file through another sender file adapter using 'msecs to wait before modification check'?
    Thanks!
    Don
    Edited by: donald.meredith on Dec 1, 2011 2:31 PM

How many files are you collecting from ECC and appending at receiver side and how much time it is taking to complete the process?
if its possible to schedule your business to read data from FTP after completing append then no worries, else sometimes it creates trouble.
The option you mentioned is reliable one , but you ended up creating one more interface.

  • ALE logical system - File -- XI -- R/3 scenario

    Hi
I have the following scenario which I'm trying to run.
    File --> XI --> R/3 scenario.
I have created a sender agreement XID|ASN_out|NBD where XID is my XI 3.0 system and NBD is my R/3 system. I have also created an interface determination and receiver determination.
The following error is in transaction SXMB_MONI in my XID system:
"Unable to convert the sender service to an ALE logical system"
Both XID and NBD are business systems defined in SLD and they have both a logical system assigned.
Why do I get this error and how can I fix it?
    Best regards

    Ok. I fixed the problem.
In the Integration Builder - Configuration > Select business system of choice > Menu > Service > Adapter specific identifiers > IDOC Adapter > Logical system - got a value after reading/refreshing it from the SLD.

  • How to Create a Flat File using FTP/File Adapter

Can any body done workaround on creating the Flat file using FTP/File Adapter?.
I need to create a simple FlatFile either using of delimiter/Fixed length. using the above said adapters we can create XML file, i tried concatinating all the values into a single String and writing into a file, but it does not have proper structure
Can any body help me out on this..
    Thanks
    Ram

You can create a text schema while creating a File Adapter. If schema is specified for File Adapter, it takes care of converting XML into fixed length or delimited format.

  • FILE to SOAP synchronous scenario - config of SOAP channel

    Hi All,
I have a scenario where I want PI to pull some files from 3rd party application.
Adapters to be used: SOAP receiver, FILE adapters.
I am aware of the use of Request/Response beans in File sender channel and the File receiver channel to dump the received files in a particular location.
I need help with the configuration of the SOAP channel.
The files to be pulled will be Encrypted.
    Summary:
File sender(RequestResponse & ResponseOneWay Beans) , File receiver( to receive the files), SOAP receiver.
Need help with the config of SOAP.
Kindly let me know your views.
    Thanks,
    Pratibha.

    Hi,
Let me put it in detail steps:
In forward flow we will be sending an IDoc. It will be processed and later an Acknowledgement file will be generated.
Now, we want to PULL this Ack file. If the other party had to push the Ack file, the scenario would have been simple.
But, we want to poll for this file and then pull it.
So, we would have something like this:
    1. FILE SENDER sends a sample file.
    2. We will be applying the beans in file sender to make it a synchronous scenario. So, the Ack file will be received at the location mentioned in the corresponding FILE RECEIVER adapter.
    3. We have a SOAP RECEIVER which should send the ACK file in response.
I have configured the same scenario where the RECEIVER was HTTP adapter. The 3rd party had provided us the URL and ENT-APRF value. When I used to send the sample file via FILE SENDER to this HTTP receiver, I was able to retrieve the ACK file via the FILE RECEIVER.
Now, I wish to configure the same using RECEIVER SOAP adapter.
I need to know about the config at SOAP end i.e. how and where  the ACK file will be available at the SOAP end for the FILE sender to pull the file.
    Ack files will be encrypted..
Any views/suggestions will be of great help.
    Thanks,
    Pratibha.

  • File Service to IDOC Scenario

    HI ,
I am trying file service to IDOC scenario and iam getting following error "Unable to convert sender service FilesService_FILE2IDOC to an ALE logical system".
Here file has to be read and IDOC has to be posted in SAP system. Sender is not an SAP system / 3rd Party system ...itz an FILE  sender service.
    Settings i have done:
In Message Mapping in target IDOC structure i have disabled Control record
In integration directory IDOC Receiver Communication channel i have not selected "Apply Control Record values from Payload".
In receiver determination in header mapping i have put sender sevice "FilesService_FILE2IDOC ".
But still i receive the same error.
I do not want to send control record parameters in Message Mapping .
Pls throw some light on this ....
    Regards
    Sri

    Hi Sridhar,
Regarding your error, below is the answer...
When you create the business system (in the SLD) you assign a "logical system name" or "ALE name". That is used as the ALE name for transporting IDOCs, and the sender system.
You have to also maintain this name in the R/3 System (tx. SALE, WE20), because IDOC will be noted as arriving from that system.
You also told that you dont want to pass the control records value....Do this, just deactivate the control records segments in your message mapping... let me not explain it further.... just check these blogs below for the same,
