Sourcing a 15-pin D-SUB Twisted Pair cable to fit on a NI 9411 C Module

Hi,
I have an NI 9411 that I'd like to connect to and I'm looking for a 15-pin D-SUB Twisted Pair cable.
I have spoken with NI sales and the best they can offer is the following, which is unfortunately not twisted pair:
http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/212301
They advised that I have a general look around on google/RS Components, which I've done. I've found quite a few straight-through
15-pin D-SUB cables but still can't seem to find one with twisted pairs.
Unfortunately, making my own cable isn't a viable option.
Has anyone ever used a cable like this and know where to buy one in the UK?
Thanks.

Hi,
Also looked for you at various sources in the UK and The Netherlands but came up empty.
In my case I would solder such cable myself but you don't want to do that.
Perhaps another solution is a flatcable with twisted pair. You can make such a cable without any special tools. If necessary you can use a bench-vice.

  • Info on sh68-68-ep pinout and twisted pairs

I am in need of a pinout for the sh68-68-ep which will show me which pins exactly are twisted pairs. I have seen the document showing the general wrappings but I cannot associate individual pins that are twisted. Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Hi Rob,
The pairing information is located in this Knowledge Base:

  • Will cables CAT6a (Shielded Twisted Pair) work (will the grounding work?) with Airport Extreme (5th and 6th generation) ? I can see a little metal edges on the Airport Extreme 6th generation, is that the grounding for STP CAT6a cables?

I recently had to change the cabling for my house and since I would have to buy all new, I used CAT6a cables, and I noticed that they are all Shielded Twisted Pair (STP), which meand that they have an extra layer of protection against interferences. The RJ45 Connectors are all made of metal on these cables.
The main router in my house will be a 6th generation Ariport Extreme, and I noticed that on the Airport Connectors, there are to metal edges on the RJ45 female. Is that the groudinging for the STP cables? I noticed the same metal edges on the Airport Extreme 5th generation.
    Thank you,

Yes, but the power cable on the AE has no gnd pin so there is no actual grounding.. cables should only be grounded at one end anyway.. but the metal tabs are linked to the metal frame of the AE or TC..
At least in all the models up to AC .. it is still out of my reach cost wise. As I would have to pull it apart and plug my meter in there.. still they will eventually start coming in for repair.

  • HT4528 I'm trying to stream netflix from iPhone 4S to my tv. I have an apple 30 pin adaptor and an hdmi cable. Every time I plug everything in I loose my 3G and get the circle icon and nothing works. Help!

    Help!

You have to swipe in a left to right motion. If the airplay icon isn't showing up it's likely something within your network that is blocking it. You can also try rebooting devices and router.

  • Source of 2X9 Receptacles for 2630

Does anybody know of a source of the 2X9 IDC receptacle blocks to mate cabling with the NI-2630 terminal block? The specification manual identifies a Samtec part that does not seem to be available now. Most of the IDC dual row receptacles I see on the market are 0.6" tall. I measured the inside of the terminal block (crudely, with a ruler) and found that there is just about a half inch from the base of the pins to where I eyeball the cover to sit when attached. The small packet of parts that came with the terminal block are about quarter inch tall. Does anybody know of a Samtec part that replaced the IDD series identified in the NI literature, or an alternative?
I do know that there is a Molex series that may work. TE and FCI parts that I have reviewed are too tall. I am looking to identify alternatives for the cable assemblers that I have asked to quote for me.
Specs: 18-pin dual row receptacles at 0.1" pitch. Max height, including wiring (and likely wiring from up to THREE other connectors!) is about a half inch. Probably needs to be IDC for those clearances, but solder connections would work. I suspect that the assemblers will use shielded discrete wire or twisted pair cabling and not ribbon cabling for these assemblies.
    Thanks!!

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Follow-up question, Frank. Does NI stock the pouches of connectors, or do they need to be ordered from your supplier?
In other dords, is it likely that the 12-20 days that the NI web site lists for estimated shipment is overestimating things, or does it include time for NI to obtain the parts.
    Thanks!

    Jeff,
Are you looking for the complete cable, or for Cable Connectors [that come in the bag]?
    Cable
The complete cable is listed in the installation instructions ["IDSD-09 Series"] and can be found on many 3rd party websites as well as Samtec's website.
    Cable Connectors
Since the NI-2530 and NI-2530B should have been directly replaceable, the NI part number 778962-01 listed in the 2630B installation instructions should be identical. The NI 778962-01 can be purchased on NI's web site here.

  • How to check netwok whether install driver in mac 8.6

i want to set tcp/ip. But connect via field no "Ethernet" for me to choose in TCP/IP. So, i want to check network card whether install driver.
My mac is mac8500. The Specifications below:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=112374
What is AAUI? What different from 10baseT and AAUI?

When that Mac was designed, there were still big arguments going on about which cabling scheme would be most popular for users in the future. Dual Baseband coaxial cables, Single or dual Broadband Cable TV cables, and point-to-point twisted pair cables using RJ45 Jacks were all still possible options.
AAUI is a 14-pin Ethernet Interface with the Transceiver left off. You could buy transceivers for each of the existing media listed above, to adapt it for the different cabling schemes.
Since your Mac has a Built-in RJ45 twisted pair jack, you should use that. Since it is built-in, you should find an Extension for "Built-In Ethernet" in your System Folder > Extensions. If you do not, you may be able to re-install Mac OS, and select just to re-install the "Networking" part of the software.

  • BT Infinity Home Extension Kit - Wall socket to Da...

    Hi,
I have two lovely house rabbits that I want to throttle, although I've guarded their access to the area, have bitten through the cable from the wall socket to the data extension kit.
The cable between the two appears to be bespoke 2 pin RJ11 twisted pair cable for this purpose and the RJ11 cable I have that fits the socket is a 4 pin connection without a twisted pair doesn't work.
BT have been great as when I asked what the cable the guy who dealt with my call didn't know and just offered to send a cable pack, which is fantastic but I need some spares for a pre-emptive strike against the fluffly ones.
Anyone have any ideas?  My google-fu is turning up lots of questions regarding the connection to the home hub.
    Thanks in advance.

Its should be two or three pair cat5. You can use normal 4pair cat5, if you cant get hold of two pair. Only one pair is required if its a vdsl data extension for the infinity modem.

  • Is CAN Breakout Box supposed to create a bus?

I have a CAN Breakout Box that was intended to simplify connecting multiple CAN nodes on a bus.  I am currently using High Speed CAN cables with a total of five nodes (two ECUs, one Sniffer and two connected to a PXI chassis) at 250kbaud.   I'm seeing lots of frame errors on the bus, only when the Breakout Box is connected, and it seems to be an issue with the termination resistance.
Generally I utilize a standard bus configuration wired using twisted pair cable with 120Ohm resistance on either end of the bus and stubs for each node.  I'm wondering if the Breakout Box can be configured as a bus with termination resistance on both ends, similar to a standard bus.  It seems that it's configured as a bus with only termination resitance on one end, so I'm wondering if this is the source of my error frames, and if I need to complete the bus by placing another external terminating resistor on the other end?

The wording in this KnowledgeBase article implies there is only one resistance in the break out box so I think you may be right. I would try adding an additional terminating resistor and see if that helps.

  • Ethernet How-to

I have been a dial-up user since my iMac purchase in 2000, but now the other house computer which has been on dial-up (and with whom I have been sharing a dedicated phone line) is now going to Road Runner high speed, and I need to follow suit. I have read the other discussions about using AirPort (and the difficulty of obtaining same), but I have concluded that this would involve purchasing a hard-to-find AirPort card, plus a base, plus updates of my MacOS 9.0.4 and Word 98 for Mac--all in all, not terribly cost-effective. For the record, I also use an old browser (Internet Explorer 5).
I am interested in connecting via the ethernet option, but I want to know exactly what I would need to get in order to accomplish this. I read elsewhere on this site about getting ethernet twisted-pair cable with RJ-45 connector, at speed 10/100 Base-T for my computer, plus for internet connection I need a router (a.k.a. "ethernet wireless adaptor"?) From other posts, I have gathered info about manufacturers and websites for obtaining the router.
Should these 2 items be all I need? Will I have to update my operating systems anyway, in order for them to work with the high speed?
I will add that there is a good 30 feet of distance between the 2 computers which are to be connected in this way. Having to connect/disconnect a long cord at every use is not ideal, but this is what I have been doing anyway with the phone cable. I am an almost-daily computer user, but basically a casual user. This would be a temporary arrangement.
    I welcome your suggestions.
iMac DV   Mac OS 9.0.x   400 MHz G3

    Hello!
Yes, the originating computer is in fact a PC, already up and running with high speed as of this week.
An added wrinkle is that I did contact Earthlink to ask if cancelling dial up results in losing my e-mail address, and I was surprised to learn that the company has something dubbed "premium mail" in which one keeps the address and everything that goes with it EXCEPT the actual connection (this for a nominal fee per month). Since in November I was involuntarily separated from my mac.com account (long story, but it has to do with an old agreement between Apple and Earthlink that finally expired--though they did not warn me in advance, and suddenly I had no e-mail), I really am liking the notion of keeping the 5 month old Earthlink address intact; I do not wish to go through making all those changes again--even having to contact prospective employers with change of e-mail, etc.
The other decision I face was the original reason for this thread--exactly how to connect up the 2 machines. I was at first leaning toward the less expensive wired method of using some ethernet cables and a wired router. However, I am in a temporary living arrangement, and when I move out, I think this kind of connect-up will do nothing for me. If I go for the wireless method of getting a wireless router plus a wireless ethernet adaptor, perhaps at least one of the two machines would be helpful when I am out on my own? Anyway, this is the current investigation. I am learning a lot.
And...I am so glad to meet new friends in the UK, which I have always wanted to visit.

Err... you do know that AppleTalk is, err, depreciated, don't you? About the only thing you can do with AppleTalk nowadays is talk to older printers. Apple has moved to using standard TCP/IP connections. The standard connection is Ethernet for wired connections (usually 100 or 1000 Mb/s, using twisted pair cable) and 802.11b, g, or n for wireless connections. AppleTalk over Ethernet was called EtherTalk. That still works, I suppose, but mostly for printers. I don't think that AppleTalk was ever set up for wireless connections, it was dead before wireless hit it big.

  • 1-1.5Mbps on iMac, 6-7Mbps on iPad/iPhone?

Can anyone explain why - when using Speedtest.net on my iMac and Speedtest on iPad or iPhone - I get 1-1.5Mbps on my (wired connection) iMac and 6-7Mbps on my iPad/iPhone connected to the same router, and doing the test one after the other?

    on my (wired connection)
Try a different Cat5 cable first. We had an older eMac on our wired network (50MBps max) whose Speedtest and Speakeasy.net/speedtest results dropped to about 3.5MBps. I realized something was seriously wrong when I connected an old PowerBook with a much slower Tbase10 port to the network and it tested at 5MBps!
I replaced the cable from the eMac to the router and the eMac was once again getting 12-15MBps. Twisted pair cables can, I supposed, become "untwisted."

  • After boot net-tpe - install sparc20 loses connection

I'm trying to install Solaris 8 on a Sparcserver 20. Due to a defect cdrom, I've to use a jumstart install. The jumpstart-client (the Sparcserver 20) finds it's own ip-adress and retrieves the bootblock(?) When I use snoop on the server, I can see that everthing looks normal (see Snoop output). But right after that, the client starts complaining about "ARP/RARP send failed" (see Sparc20 messages). The 20c00 is (obviously) a counter that counts recieved data. Why is it failing? It just had a connection before... Also I can see the networkswitch blinking every 2/3 seconds when the errors begin. Does anybody has a clue? The Sparc20 is running Solaris 5.6 at this moment and has no network problems. If anybody needs more informatioin, let me know. Thanks in advance.

  • Display Sleep mode powers down eMac

I have a problem with the energy saver setting to put just the display to sleep; it shuts down the computer instead. I have the setting for putting the whole computer to sleep set to never and have unchecked the put hard disks to sleep option. If the display sleep setting is set to anything other then never when it tries to put the display to sleep it ends up turning power to the whole computer off instead.
Now the really fun part, once the computer shuts its self off I can not turn it back on without unplugging it from power for a few minutes to reset things. I have replaced the internal battery, reset the PMU and when that did not work I reset the firmware.

eMacs and old CRT iMacs are completely different beasts when it comes to the CRT connector inside.
The old iMac, at least this is true with my old Grape 333MHz model, used a standard 15-pin D-Sub type monitor cable inside so the "modification" would have been nothing more than unplugging the internal monitor and then plugging in the cable from the LCD monitor.
With the eMac, it isn't a standard monitor cable so you would have to figure out which wires are which and then make an adpater hardness to give you a standard output connector.
