SP3 Causing SSRS On SP To Loose Data Source Settings
Hi,
(Hope I've got the right forum).
We are running SQL Server 2008 R2 and using Reporting Services on SharePoint 2010 in "integrated mode". The data source file and the report files that use that data source live in an SP library, and we have all those extra functions that allow
you to do, among other things, manage the data source used by each report file. Everything has been working fine up to now.
We have recently deployed the SP3 for SQL, but since then, every morning the data source has lost the credentials we use to connect to the database and is set to disabled, and all of the reports that map to this data source file have lost their data source
setting.
If I edit the data source, put the correct credentials in and enable the datasource, then go back into every report and map them back to the data source file, everything works, until the following morning when the problem reappears.
To say this was frustrating would be a severe understatement.
I'm guessing that overnight we have a server reboot, IIS Reset or something going on.
The problem is that SP3 is actually solving a number of unrelated problems for a different team, so rolling back is not really an option.
So I'm hoping someone out there has seen this before and knows a work around.
Thanks,
Swanny.
Hi Swanny Too,
Thank you for your question.

Hi,
Can someone tell me what maximum values can I set in the following properties under Connection Attributes when I define a DataSource on
Application Server. I have almost 25+ web application deployed on my 10.1.2.0.2 server that all uses one data source I have defined. Now the issue is the number of requests
are very high and every now and then I get timeout error when trying to get the database connection. At one particular instance at peak time I may get over 200+ requests that
do some databse connections etc. Following are my current settings. But need to increase some more but wondering what are the maximum values I can have. I have only one server 10.1.2.0.2
Connection Retry Interval (seconds) = 5
Max Connection Attempts = 3
Cached Connection Inactivity Timeout (seconds) = 30
Maximum Open Connections = 60
Minimum Open Connections = 10
Wait For Free Connection Timeout (seconds) = 15
What other properties can I have to make use of datasource effectively.
ThanksHere is the copy of my datasources.xml.

<property name="serverName" value="someloc99"/>

Remote Data Source Settings for Lotus Notes CWS
I have installed the Crawler Web Service for Lotus Notes on a box seperate from Machine hosting Portal Server. After that I did all the migrations successfully at the portal side as mentioned in installation guide. But while configuring Remote data Source ,in Authentication Page , i am not getting an edit box to specify the User ID file.Its just have edit box to specify password.
Its taking the last user id that was used in the Notes Client on that machine, or more specifically the KeyFilename setting in the Notes.ini file
How can i set the User ID File(to be considered).
Moreover there is an error
An error occurred while validating the remote XUI service. Verify the Web Service settings, including the SOAP Encoding Style.
Can anybody provide pointers on configuring the Remote Data Source for Lotus Notes database
Thanks in AdvanceHi,
I would check this with the Lotus Notes guys. If the mail is OK in SOST, then SAP is delivering the mail correctly. There is something wrong with the Lotus Notes client itself. I have seen this same problem and I have alos witnessed the HTML email to crash the whole Lotus client. (This lead to a situation that it was just easier to send the plain text emails.)

Inventory data sources - settings
Hi Experts,
Please provide me the solution for the following
1. For 2lis_03_bx, i want to do the setting to opening balances upto 2007.31.12, where we will do this settings.
2. Can we possible to load 2lis_03_bx and 2lis_03_bf into DSO. IF possible please suggest me the std SAP delivered DSO/ODS.
Thanks in Advance.
Regards
KuttanHi Kuttan
You want to load Opening balance as at 2007. Does the data in your source system i.e R3 have the Opening balance as at 2007 or is the Opening balance in R3 Live Opening balance. (I am sure it is Live opening balance).
The appropriate thing for you will be to load the data in 'as-is' condition i.e. Load the current Opening Balance. Remember that during this process you will have to 'lock' the R3 system. After loading the 'Live' opening balance i.e. 2LIS_03_BX , you will load the transactions that lead upto this Opening balance. These will be loaded through 2LIS_03_BF. For this process follow the link that is posted in the earlier link.

Project system data source settings
Hi All,
I loaded all the data relating to Project Systems. The problem is any reports that are running on dates cube (0PS_C02) not returning any values.
When i checked the SBIW (IMG on R/3) side, there are some application specific settings related to dates, duration....
Do i need to maintain these?
If so do i need to maintain for each value type? and load the data again?
Cheers,
Suresh.Hi Diego,
Thanks for the reply, Yes, I looked in the Listcube transaction, I can see the cube records in the cube contents.
But i am not report against them. Where as with other project system related cubes i was able to run the reports.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Custom code dll as a data source for an SSRS report
I'm trying to create a report which relies on using some custom code written in VB.net. I am using the custom code to access the Server Management Objects SMO API in MSSQL 2012. I am able to supply an MSSQL object name (a database table
for example)and then return a list of dependant objects using the dependency walker class (stored procedures, triggers, UDF's, other tables etc.) which rely on the parent object if you will. I am able load the results into a dataset in the custom code. My
question is how can I get that dataset to be consumed as a data source and appear in my report. I've read many articles on how to use scripts to supply values for various report property settings. I just haven't seen an example of using a dll
to supply a dataset. I am assuming it is possible. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. CheersHi mdmck,
According to your description, you want to create an SSRS report with custom code as data source, right?
To use custom code in Reporting Services, we need to add a reference to your custom assembly, create a new CodeGroup for your custom assembly, and then grant full trust permissions. For detail information, please refer to the following steps:
Open the report that will reference the custom assembly.
On the Report menu, click Report Properties.
In the Report Properties dialog box, click the References tab.
Under References, click the ellipsis (...) button that is next to the Assembly name column header.
In the Add References dialog box, click Browse.
Locate and then click the custom assembly. Click Open.
In the Add References dialog box, click OK.
In the Report Properties dialog box, click OK.
If the custom assembly requires more permissions than the default Execution level permissions, we need to create a new CodeGroup for your custom assembly, and then grant full trust permissions.

Recurring Crystal schedules fail if original data source changes
We're using BO 3.1 (SP3 plus FP 3.3 and 3.5) with Oracle 11g repository and both 10g and 11g clients installed on the BO servers (Windows Server 2008 R2). We've been trying to resolve an issue with recurring schedules of Crystal reports. We always configure them to use the Custom Data Source settings but if the Original Data Source name changes, it's causing report schedules to fail with the below error message. So if the parent report's original data source doesn't match the schedules original data source, the schedule begins to fail even though it's configured to use the custom data source settings. I've had a ticket open with support for over a month now but am not getting anywhere. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Error in File ~tmp6406e9398df050.rpt: Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters. Details: [Database Vendor Code: 1005 ]Hi John,
Thanks for the response but rescheduling reports does NOT resolve the issue and should not be necessary when they're set to use the CUSTOM data source. We've found that the only thing you can really do is delete the existing recurring schedules and create brand new ones. Needless to say, this isn't very convenient for users and it's difficult to prevent the original data source name from ever changing. It sure seems like a bug but SAP will not acknowledge it as such. If you use Query builder to look up all the detail on a recurring schedule, there's nothing to indicate where the problem is. The SI_USE_ORIGINALDS will be set to "false" but if the original data source in the recurring schedule does not match that of the parent report, it will fail even though the custom data source settings are correct. Why would the recurring schedule do anything at all with the original data source when it is set to use the custom one?? -
Cannot get ODBC Data Source to connect on report server
Hi,
I have an ODBC Connection installed on our PROD server that when you test through I-SQL and the ODBC Administrator it works.
When I add a new data source to the reporting server we interface and press test connection it just hangs for ages then gives a page cannot be displayed.
I have installed all the same on the DEV server and it works fine. I have set all of the configs to exactly the same!
I feel like something to do with reporting services is not correct. Any one have any ideas?
Thanks.Hi KMoff,
Per my understanding that you are using the ODBC datasource type and when you have set the connection string and click the "Test Connection" it hangs and got some error, right?
Please find the details steps below and try to provide more information according to the questions:
Whether the error message you got is "page cannot be displayed", if not, please try to provide more details inforamtion.
Did you got the error message when you click on the "Test Connection" from designer or report manager.
If you got the issue only in the report manager, the issue can be caused by the support of the ODBC driver in the report manager and also the bit.
Standard .NET Framework data providers do not necessarily support all the functionality supplied by Reporting Services data processing extensions. In addition, some OLE DB data providers and ODBC drivers can be used to author and preview reports, but are not
designed to support reports published on a report server. See
Data Sources Supported by Reporting Services (SSRS)
When you deploy a report to a 64-bit report server (x86), the report server must have natively compiled 64-bit data providers installed. Wrapping a 32-bit data provider in 64-bit interfaces is not supported.
Could you provide more details information about the connection string you are currently using.(Excel files or something else)

Using report parameter in data set filter expression with an SSAS data source
I have an SSRS report with an SSAS data source.
Report parameters:
Param1 - text, single select
Param2 - text, multi-select
Dataset:
In Query Designer, I want to include Param1 as a filter expression so I can have "Dimension1 Begins with @Param2". I'm not sure the exact syntax to make param2 work in this.
The point is to filter my data set on param1. If A is selected for param1, I want the data set to have the filter saying "Dimension1 begins with A"
Anyone know how to use a report parameter in the dataset filter expression for an ssas data source?hi,
try this maybe the dates you are comparing are not in the same format.
I test data template in EBS but not with dates.
to_date(date,'dd/mm/YY') between to_date(:p_from_date ,'dd/mm/YY') and to_date(:p_to_date ,'dd/mm/YY')
if dont works try to put values insted of your parameter like :
to_date(date,'dd/mm/YY') between to_date(:p_from_date ,'10/01/07') and to_date(:p_to_date ,'01/12/07') ... put dates where u can have some values in report...
if dont work then try to print the values of the 2 parameters and the date of the select somwhere in ur report to see what you have in it..
hope it helps..

Generic text data source problem
Hello Gurus,
I am trying to create a generic data source for an iobject needed in my analysis (shipment conditions, 0SHIP_COND - I haven't been able to find appropriate txt DS in RSA5 for it).
I located its texts in a table TVSB. It contains 3 fields: Client, Shipping Cond. and Description.
I tried to create a DS based on this table in RSO2, but when I check it afterwards, it does not have the Description field. That means only the Shipping Cond. code field is in created data source.
What can be the cause that when I create a data source based on a table, the system skippes some fields from this table?
Could anyone provide a solution to this problem?
Regards,
AlekAh, thank you
BTW: For a future reference:
How can I check that a table is "really" a table, valid for - for example - making a DS based on it?
I have opened TVSB in SE16 and it looked "OK", just like a regular table (for example, I compared it with TKUKT, for customer class, which is valid for making a data source on it, and they both looked the same (in structure).
Is there a way to distinguish a "valid for DS" table? Or it's just the know-how you need to get through your experience?

ODP Data Source Delta issue 2lis_11_VAHDR 2lis_11_VAKON
Hi Expert,
I am pulling the data from SAP using ODP data sources. 2LIS_11_VAHDR 2LIS_11_VAITM 2LIS_11_VAKON.
For all the data sources I am doing the initloads. For 2LIS_11_VAITM data source after init load its enabling the delta.
For remaining data sources even if you try to pull the delta it's loading full load.
Steps I am following
LBWG do the deletion of setup tables.
OLI7BW fill the setup tables.
Run the data services job which pull the initial load. It loads all the data.
Change the ODP data source settings to Init load to No (Capture only delta)
In SMQ1 all the delta records will be captured
Run the Jobs which pull the delta records to ODQMON from there if you run Job in data services it has to pull the Delta records.
This is happening for 2LIS_11_VAITM but not for other data sources 2LIS_11_VAHDR and 2LIS_11_VAKON.
Event if you try to pull the delta records its loading all the records.
Can some one throw some light on this
Regards,
Murali.In RSMO, go to the details tab and check in which stage the load has failed. If the issue is with extraction then go to Environment > Job Overview in the source system. Check if this job is complete.
I hope you must have cleared the Delta Queue, so now go and check if any entry is being displayed for 2lis_11_vahdr -
SSRS 2008 R2 data source authentication issue
Hello,
End-users with Browser permissions for the necessary SSRS folders and reports are getting "The permissions denied to user [Windows user] are insufficient for performing this operation (rsAccessDenied)" even though the data source for the report is configured
to use "credentials stored securely in the report server" and "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" is checked. Users who are members of the local admin machine hosting the Report Manager site don't get the error. But users with full
control permissions to the SSRS directories, including the config files, do get the error. Obviously, the solution shouldn't entail giving end-users local admin or even full control permissions to the SQL Server SSRS folders. Moreover, the error only
occurs when using Windows credentials but not when using only a database credential, i.e. non Windows credentials. This workaround doesn't work for me since I'm also using a data source connection to SSAS, which doesn't appear to use database logins
- only Windows credentials that are added to roles.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Ben LezinHi Ben,
Generally, the error "The permissions denied to user [Windows user] are insufficient for performing this operation (rsAccessDenied)" should be caused
by one of the following reasons:
1. User Access Control (UAC). Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 limit the overuse of elevated permissions by removing administrator permissions
when accessing applications. Because the operating system removes permissions, members of the local Administrators group run most applications as if they are using the Standard User account.
If this issue is caused by UAC, please run Internet Explorer as administrator. From the Start menu, click All Programs, right-click Internet Explorer,
and select Run as administrator. For more information about UAC, please refer to this document:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb630430.aspx
2. User has insufficient permissions to perform the operation. Please check the following items:
a. End-users belong to "Browser" role. In Report Manager Home page, click "Folder Settings", make sure the end-users are in the security list and with
Browser role permission.
b. "Browser" role has permissions to perform the operation. You can use SSMS to connect to report server, expand Security/Roles, double click "Browser",
and then check the tasks list.
If there is anything unclear, please feel free to ask.
Thanks,

SSRS CatalogItem method not working for deploying a shared data source
I have been working with the SSRS CreateCatalogItem method to deploy reports to a SSRS 2012 in SharePoint integrated mode with SharePoint Server Enterprise 2013. I am using Powershell. The CreateCatalogItem method works fine when I deploy RDL files,
but fails when I deploy an RDS. I get an rsInvalidXML1400 error, whatever that is. Here is a cut-down version of my code to establish the bare essentials:
[String] $reportserver = "server20";
[String] $url = "http://$($reportserver)/sites/AdventureWorks/_vti_bin/reportserver/reportservice2010.asmx?WSDL";
[String] $SPFolderPath = "http://server20/sites/AdventureWorks/BICenter/Data%20Connections/";
[String] $fileFolder = "C:\SiteBackups\BIReports\BIReports\";
[String] $itemName = "AdventureWorksCube.rds";
$ssrs = New-WebServiceProxy -uri $url -UseDefaultCredential;
$warnings = $null;
$itemPath= $($fileFolder + $itemName);
$definition = get-content $itemPath -encoding byte;
try
$ssrs.CreateCatalogItem("DataSource", $itemName, $SPFolderPath,$False,$definition,$null, [ref] $warnings);
catch [System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException]
$msg = $_.Exception.Detail.InnerText;
Write-Error $msg;
I have a workaround whereby I read the XML of the data source file directly and extract the ConnectString and Extension elements then use the text within them to create the data source using the DataSourceDefinition class. My point is not to get a workaround.
I want to establish that the CreateCatalogItem method indeed does not work when used with the ItemType "DataSource". In the code above, if I change the itemType i.e. first parameter of CreateCatalogItem to "Report" and change the $itemName
to the name of an RDL file, it deploys correctly. Has anyone else encountered this behavior or am I doing something wrong here?

Charles Kangai, MCTHello,
We can invoke the SSRS proxy endpoint (ReportService2006.asmx)from PowerShell to publish report definitions (.rdl) and report models (.smdl) to a SharePoint library, but this does not apply to data source (.rds) files.
In order to deploy .rds to SharePoint library without using SSDT, you should convert the .rds file to its .rsds counterpart which is pretty contains same content but in different schema.
If you want to fully automate your deployment, you should write your own converter and perform the deployment by utilizing SharePoint feature framework and SSRS proxy endpoint (ReportService2006.asmx).
