Space under my headers using CSS

I'm formatting the text on a website. I have a list of text
of headers and subheaders. I have a hard return after the headers,
and a soft return between the subheads. The problem is I don't want
the space after the header.
My question is: how do I get rid of the large hard return
space after my header?
Thanks in advance,
Brad

You need to redefine the bottom margin on the H4 in that
case.
As long as you don't have an empty <p></p> tags
after the header or a line
break <br>
css:
h4 { margin-bottom: 6px;}
Changing the pxs to suit.

  • TableView columns headers customization using CSS

    Hi,
    I'm trying to customize the TableView columns headers using CSS, but up until now, I was not able to find the CSS class name for the previously mentioned elements.
    Can anyone point me to a document or link where I can find all the available CSS classes for TableView and, why not for all the JAVA FX 2.0 widgets.
    Thanks,
    Alin

    Here's the Oracle CSS Reference guide for JavaFX:
    http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2.0/api/javafx/scene/doc-files/cssref.html#tableview
    You can also look at caspian.css inside the javafx runtime as it is the default CSS sheet for JavaFX applications and is a good place to see a lot of the style classes in use. The particular class you want is .table-view .column-header{} for individual columns or .table-view .column-header-background{} for the whole table header in general. Hope that helps.

  • Clear white space under layer divs

    Is there a way to clear the white space under layer divs?  See below.  There are three layers, and then another div tag below that that has "Text".  The red area is pointing to the white space I need to get rid of.
    Here is the code:
    <html>
    <head>
    <style type="text/css">
      div.layer1 {
      background-color:lime;
      width:150px;
      height:150px;
      position:relative;
      top:10px;
      left:80px;
      z-index:2
      div.layer2 {
      background-color:yellow;
      width:100px;
      height:100px;
      position:relative;
      top:-60px;
      left:35px;
      z-index:1
      div.layer3 {
      background-color:orange;
      width:120px;
      height:120px;
      position:relative;
      top:-180px;
      left:175px;
      z-index:3
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div class="layer1">
      Layer One<br>
      Layer One<br>
      Layer One<br>
      Layer One<br>
      Layer One<br>
    </div>
    <div class="layer2">
      Layer Two<br>
      Layer Two<br>
      Layer Two<br>
      Layer Two<br>
      Layer Two<br>
    </div>
    <div class="layer3">
      Layer Three<br>
      Layer Three<br>
      Layer Three<br>
      Layer Three<br>
      Layer Three<br>
    </div>
    <div> Text </div>
    </body>
    </html>

    There is really no such thing as a "layer div". Old versions of Dreamweaver used the name "layer" to mean an absolutely positioned div.
    What you have done is to create relatively positioned divs. A relatively positioned element is moved from its normal place in the flow of the document without affecting other elements.
    Your three divs have a combined height of 370px. As a result, your text is placed that far down the page.
    If you wanted to move it up, you would need to give the Text div an ID and a negative top margin of -170px.
    #textdiv {
        margin-top: -170px;

  • Resizing image using CSS - not working in IE

    Hello,
    I have a standard report with couple of columns one of which a image column. The images are of varying sizes and I manged to resize them to a fixed width & height by using CSS code in page header as below:
    td[headers="ITEM_PICTURE"] img {
      display: block;
      width: 70px;
      border: 1px solid #999;
      padding: 4px;
      background: #f6f6f6;
    }The CSS does the trick in Chrome & Firefox but does not work in internet explorer. Is there a way to make this CSS code IE friendly?
    Cheers for help.

    I am using Apex 4.2.1 (had this issue in 4.1.1 as well) and using theme 10.Ah, the Sludge Sand theme. In 4.x that's a legacy theme only really included to allow applications to run on IE6. It's therefore intended to run in quirks mode, meaning in Internet Explorer terms there's no support for anything that didn't work in IE6 (for certain values of "work"). This means no CSS3, no support for a lot of useful CSS2.1 stuff (like attribute selectors), and probably problems with jQuery which requires standards mode. Adding a DOCTYPE to the page templates to trigger standards mode Interactive Report: how can I display carriage returns?. In 4.2 you really should switch to one of the latest Standard themes, or at least one of the standards mode Legacy themes (those not marked with a "*").
    If you must use theme 10, and there are no other images in this report (like edit icons) then you could add a static ID to the region and use a more basic selector like:
    #static-id td.t10data img {
      display: block;
      width: 70px;
      border: 1px solid #999;
      padding: 4px;
      background: #f6f6f6;
    }However, it appears that one of IE's quirkier quirks mode quirks is that CSS padding is not supported on images, so the presentation you want is not possible using theme 10 in IE and CSS alone.
    Switching to a modern theme is recommended.

  • How to limit the amount of disk space Time Machine will use?

    On Yosemite, how do you limit the amount of disk space Time Machine will use?
    I'm using a Seagate Goflex Home 2tb drive connected to my router as a Time Machine backup drive.  I use this for three things 1)Time Machine 2) an occasional backup of  windows document subdirectory  3) backup of music and photos for long term storage.   Doing something like re-partioning the drive is not an option.  I'll just go buy another drive for time machine's sole use. In addition, using software from Seagate is not an option.  I don't want to use their software for different reasons (mainly the GoFlex home is really designed as a "media server"  which I don't use.  I, of course, use iTunes. ) On the Mac, I'm only using about 250GB total but time machine is rapidly using up space.
    Apparently using a terminal command like below, used to work,  but no longer works under Yosemite.
    For a limit of 100gb the number below would be 100 x 1024
    sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine MaxSize 102400
    To remove the limit, use the following command:
    sudo defaults delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine MaxSize
    Now, I'm not too familiar with terminal and I'm not about ready to issue a command without knowing exactly what it is going to do.
    Is there an easier "switch" someplace or an app that does this?
    If I don't limit the size, at some point there will not be any space left for windows backups and additional photo and music files.

    Hmm- added "sudo" and there was no error reported:
    sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine MaxSize xxxxxx
    I guess we'll see.

  • Space under flash movies

    Hi All,
    I am having an annoying problem:  when I use swfobject code to embed flash movies, it leaves a space under the movie that breaks the design.  This happens when viewing it in Chrome or Firefox (on a mac), but not in Safari.  I have found that when I just paste in the <object> code alone
    created when I publish the movie out of flash into my HTML document, the space disappears.  I have tried removing all line breaks and extra spaces
    from the swfobject code to no avail.  This also happens when I add the movie in using Dreamweaver CS4 (insert->media->swf) , which uses
    swfobject.
    Here is an affected page, note the space under both the header flash movie, and the main movie under the nav: http://hamptonsdesignstudio.com/index2.html
    Here is the page with just the object code and the desired design: http://hamptonsdesignstudio.com/index.html
    I would like to be able to use swfobject to provide alternate content for
    search engines, but not at the expense of breaking my design. Any
    suggestions ?

  • White space under table on page how to get rid of it

    I created a new page, inserted a table to fill the page and

    there is no white space under the table at the bottom of the page.
    When I preview the page in a browser, the table ends about an inch

    Thanks for any help you can give. I'm going crazy trying to

    Fix up the errors with your html firstly - then see where you
    are at with
    the page....
    The first thing to do would be to get rid of the table
    heights - it's
    invalid and won't render cross browser anyway. Error:

  • Using CSS in Crystal Report

    Hi,
    I wanted to know if and how do we use CSS for formating the fields in Crystal Report. I did see a "CCS" class name option in the "Format Filed" selection, not sure how it works.
    Also, wanted to know how do we UPLOAD the CSS to the CMC.
    Thank you.
    KS.

    Hi Chito,
    You cannot load multiple images dynamically. Using the 'graphic location' formula for the OLE Object, you can only point to a location that can load one image.
    For the second image, you'll need to manually insert another OLE Object and point the formula to the next image's location.
    You can try posting to the SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio space to find out whether this can be done using CR SDK.

    I have purchased a macbook air with 64 gb hard disk. the available space is only 10gb. With this available space, i can't use the system effectively. kindly advise.

    You should have bought one with a larger SSD. You can regain some space by disabling the sleepimage file:
    To disable safe sleep, run the two following commands in Terminal:
    $ sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
    $ sudo nvram "use-nvramrc?"=false
    When done, restart your computer. Now go delete the file "/private/var/vm/sleepimage" to free up some hard drive space. When you put your computer to sleep it, should happen in under five seconds; my MacBook now goes to sleep in two seconds.
    [robg adds: To state the obvious, with safe sleep disabled, a total power loss will wipe out whatever was open on your machine. To enable safe sleep mode again, repeat the above commands, but change hibernatemode 0 on the first line to hibernatemode 3, and =false to =true on the second line. You'll then need to reboot again. Personally, I prefer the safe sleep mode, even with the slower sleep time and hard drive consumption -- even if for no other reason than it's great when changing batteries on a flight.]
    You can also delete unneeded files:
    Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
    You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
    You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
    Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • Why is there space under the copyright bar on the contact page?

    why is there space under the copyright bar on the contact page? all the other pages in the site fit flush at the bottom except on the contact and coaching page. does anyone know why? thanks
    http://worldmarketdesign.com/strategic/contact.html

    What I'm saying is that the footer will always follow the content above it.  On short pages, footer may not align with bottom of browser viewport because the page content above isn't long enough to fill the screen.  Since everyone uses different display sizes, this is perfectly normal behavior and shouldn't be a major concern.

  • Customizing Font Size of Date Navigator Header Using CSS

    Hi All,
    Can anyone offer any advice on how I'd change the font-size of the Date Navigator Header (i.e. May 2010, June 2010, etc)?
    I've tried the good ol' CSS hack underneath the "Font Color of Date Navigator Header" and despite it working during preview, it doesn't come through when I save it.
    This is what I've entered:
    #000;padding:7px;font-weight:bold;font-size:medium
    What am I doing wrong?
    Is it because there are too many arguments?
    Where else could I modify this?
    Thanks,
    Bim.

    Hello Bim,
    I am not sure about your requirement using CSS. But, one way of changing the "Font Color of Date Navigator Header" is through editing the properties of your current theme in "Portal theme editor". For portal theme editor, logon to portal and navigate to System Administration>Portal Display>Theme Editor--> Click on the theme that is currently active.
    Now, navigate to "Date Navigator" under Complex Elements and change the required properties. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need any other information.
    Regards,
    Gopal.

  • Using CSS with Contribute

    I just stumbled upon a small hitch in my get-along.
    While trying to assign an alignment class in Contribute (that
    I had originally created in Dreamweaver) I discovered that I
    couldn't figure out how to accomplish this. I have already created
    a class and it's in the external style sheet, but I can't figure
    out how to associate the picture with the class so that text will
    flow around the image.
    help!
    thanks,
    Ron

    Thanks for the input.  I'm well aware of how to use CSS.  The focus of this discussion was really how to get images out of <p> tags, not how to write a bunch of extra CSS to undo what Contribute really shouldn't be doing to images.
    I am committed to use CSS on my site, but I am also committed to making that CSS easy to use, which mean working at tag and block levels as much as I can, rather than becoming "class happy".  I know I have to use classes to do the left and right alignment, but let me share a specific scenario where CSS shouldn't be used.
    I have an <h2> element that is the full width of my container.  Below that, I have a <p> element for my paragraph.  For my design, I want the paragraph to have 1em of padding.  Now, I want an image banner that is the full width of the container, so it can nest under the <h2> and be the same width.  If I insert the image in Contribute above the <p>, it puts that in a <p> tag.  Now, the image is too wide because it's trying to add padding around something that is already the full width of the page.  I can't add a rule to remove the padding from all images, because that would remove padding from images that need it also.
    I could write a custom CSS class to resolve this issue, but that takes time, adds to my CSS file size and gums up my dropdown menu with an unnecessary class that's only used to solve this one scenario.  Instead, it makes more sense to just break the image out of the paragraph tag and treat it as a block.
    This is an example of what I was trying to get Contribute to do.  I just needed the image tag as such, an image, not an image inside my paragraph padding rules.
    In this case "remove paragraph breaks" is the most logical choice, rather than writing a bunch of CSS to undo Contribute's quirks.

  • Space under $ORACLE_BASE/$ORACLE_HOME keeps increasing why

    I am on Oracle 10.2.0.4 on HP UNIX 11.2. I am running a program which has an infinite loop. Each loop iteration sleeps for 15 seconds, does some datbase access using jdbc…?
