SpaceFM is looking interesting. I hope it would not be a burden to make feature suggestions for such a new project but:
1. Have files/folders be sorted alphabetically in addition to by filetype.
2. Shorter names for devices in sidebar. Or at least the ability to rename them.
3. Have separate icons for each individual bookmark.
4. Ability to customize (choose) the buttons on the toolbar.
5. Separate the sidebar and its button from the panels. Currently each panel can have its own sidebar. Maybe this is intentional but it seems redundant.
1. Probably a good idea - I've added it to the list.
2. The devices list is sloppy by design - this allows maximum info for each line (columns waste space). Personally I like to see as much as I can about a device at a glance. I probably won't make each one renameable, but I could add an option to make the names simpler. Any suggestions on format? What would you like to see in the list? I probably won't make that a columned list though - just labels.
3. Unlikely, but I'll consider it.
4. This already exists, but the interface is a little non-intuitive. If you click the leftmost toolbar icon (a little wrench), you'll see Left and Right menus. (These are going to be renamed Left Toolbar and Right Toolbar for better clarity.) Use View|Design Mode to modify those menus, choosing icons, and checking or unchecking 'Show'. The toolbars mirror those menus - that is their purpose. You can also add custom commands to the toolbar by adding to these menus. I don't particularly like this approach, but my plan A failed because I couldn't get gtk to give me any useful events on toolbuttons for Design Mode. So that is the best I could come up with for now.
5. If you mean the side panes (devices, bookmarks, etc), it is part of the design that each browser panel has its own, but each is shown optionally.

SpaceFM looks really nice. I like how one can customize almost everything of it smile. Especially the bash integration is a really nice idea.
I also want to suggest a feature which I think would be usefull:
Mounting of LUKS-encrypted devices
Since most of my external drives are encrypted I would really help if one could decrypt them from the FM (like in Thunar and the newer versions of pcmanfm).
In their case, that support probably comes in from gvfs, which spacefm doesn't use. But I'll consider some form of this. Also note you can add any command you want to the devices menu (use View|Design Mode), so you can add your own decrypt command. Or if it needs root, you may want to install your command as a plugin (plugins are write-protected by root). Thanks for the ideas.

Quick queries so far:
1) Can you re-order the listing of the Tools?
2) In the filelist pane, the Open context menu has the entries Extract and Extract To. The default icons for these seem to be tap-extract and tap-extract-to respectively. Are these non-standard, because I have both Faenza and Gnome icons installed and they're not included, and not found elsewhere on my Arch + Openbox system.
3) Is there some way to flag or colour the active pane or tab? (I see this is indicated by directory name in the window title, but it's not as striking or foolproof as a colour indication)
Please keep up the (very) good work as long as you have the energy!
Hi ninian - thanks for the positive feedback! If those segfaults are reproducable, please file a ticket on them, and if it involves root, be sure to include what graphical su command you're using (in preferences|advanced). The only problem I'm aware of is trying to open a new root window with ktsuss fails for me (but doesn't segfault) - haven't been able to figure out ktsuss's problem with this, but every graphical su has its own quirks. If the segfaults aren't predictable, then any info you can give me would be helpful - I'm not seeing any of them. That kind of report goes to the top of my list so I'll do my best to address them.

Yes, use View|Design Mode to cut a tool, then use it again on another command to paste it where you want. You can paste it into any menu, not just Tools.

To be honest I'm not sure where those icons came from, but the defaults are probably going to be changed anyway - I'd like to stick with stock gtk icons for the default to keep dependencies low, despite the lack of them. You can change those icons to anything you want of course.

I'd like there to be - I'll see what I can find. There is a dotted line focus border. A gtk theme that makes active widgets noticeable is helpful too. Also, by design spacefm tries to minimize the need to know which panel is active using context. Except for inter-panel key shortcuts - then you need to know.

Favourite file manager and why

What's everyone's favourite file manager, and why? I'm using XFE in Openbox atm, and am impressed, but wonder if there's somthing else out there that's easier to customize/faster/has a better interface.
Your thoughts?

Konqueror is my favourite. It just has lots of nice little extras. Somebody earlier mentioned the kioslaves, like fish:// and the like, so I can just do fish://HomeServer, and as if by magic I am seamlessly yet securely browsing files on my home network server at my non-university home all the way over in Berkshire, which often comes in handy
The command line has its uses since you can be so specific and yet so general at the same time, allowing you to do some stuff that would be a bit of a pain in Konqueror or whatever, likely involving a lot of Ctrl-clicking and stuff, but then again it doesn't have cool things like file previews, drag and drop, etc. File previews are really good because sometimes on a bad day you might just make some really bad file naming decisions, and having to open 10 .pdf files to find the one you want is no fun at all

File manager with tree view in main pane?

I'm looking for a file manager with something similar to Nautilus' list view, with a list and tree structure as a main view.
The nautilus one is awesome, but nautilus has qwerks if you don't use gnome (wants to control desktop, panels are very restricted, etc.)
Does anyone know of a file manager with a view similar to this that I can try out?

I've seen a few things on spacefm, and played with it a bit. Took me 3 minutes and 2 segmentation faults to find the setting to change views, and it still doesn't have the ability I want, so still a bit too buggy for me.
Pcmanfm is a good all around filemanager, but doesn't have that feature either.
I played with a slew of file managers one day looking for similar things, maybe I should try that again and branch out further than what's in the repos.
More suggestions?

Permz - Quickly change file permissions in any file manager

Designed to be integrated into any file manager, permz is a bash script which presents a GUI menu. You can use it to quickly change file permissions and ownership as a normal user or as root, and delete files as root. I wrote this because I have yet to see a file manager that isn't cumbersome for this - the mechanism is usually buried on a second tab of the Properties window, and changing permissions often involves multiple clicks in a grid. To change the owner of a file, you need to type the username. And if the file is owned by root, you can't do anything.

Presents a GUI menu for changing file permissions/ownership. May be run

If you're somewhat familiar with bash, adding additional options or changing the existing ones is straightforward.

Done - thanks for the tip. I also left the old code active in there with just the menu option disabled, so if anyone wants it the other way or wants both it's easy to enable. The difference is that the old way won't make any files +x, just dirs.
permz doesn't provide every possible setting of permissions, just common ones, so you may want to customize it. But I used to have these as user actions when I used Krusader and I found these were the handy ones, at least for me.

CS4 - file management

Would someone be so kind to steer me towards the literature that explains how PPro manages media.When I capture I end up with files scattered across multiple locations. I've tried leaving the scratch disk setting at "same as project" and I've tried indicating specific folders. What happens in both instances is that PPro still makes it's own folders, for instance, "encoded files", "preview" and "auto-save". I just want to keep things tidy and in separate folders. Ideally if all of the encoded media went in one folder and all of the auto- save in another etc. The other ideal alternative would be everything contained in it's own project folder. If that is the default and I've changed something to prevent that then ....help. Also as a test I saved some things to the desk top and now I have these Peak files scattered across the screen. So basically is there a good resource to understand the files that PPro creates when capturing and in the course of making a project, where does it like to put things and is it customizable.

Ah, now I understand. Yes, I can assure you that you will get over it. How do I know? Well, I come from an Avid pedigree as well. I spent over ten years on Avid systems before switching to PPro (motivated by cost, as I went from the corporate sector to being self-employed)--in fact, I purchased my first Adobe bundle without ever having used PPro. I went through all the same gnashing of teeth when I switched over, not so much because of the user interface or the general operation of the software, but because file management was so foreign to me!
With Avid, everything you capture or even import is converted into an OMF or MXF file, and subsequently dumped inside of OMFI Media Files or Avid Media Files folders. It's because of the Media Manager (which is the best of any NLE, hands down) that this can be done. However, this is a wholly inefficient way of dealing with a great number of media sources. For example, if you import a graphic file, you don't actually use the TIF or TGA or PSD or whatever it is. Instead, the import process turns it into what basically amounts as a fixed-duration video clip. Well, this makes sense if all you've ever done is worked in the Avid arena, but it's pretty dumb when you look at it from the perspective of any other editing application. Why would I want to go through an import process AGAIN if I decide to make a change to my graphic? I don't; that's a WOMBAT (Waste Of Money, Brains, And Time). With PPro, FCP, and others, you work on the graphic file itself, so all you have to do is make changes to that file in your graphics app and the changes are automatic inside of the NLE. The same goes for tapeless acquisition formats, like P2 or XDCAM EX--Avid imports and rewraps these; another WOMBAT. Now, that's changed in the latest revisions of the Media Composer because there is a new feature called AMA (Avid Media Access) that allows you to much more quickly get media into your project. It's been a few years since I've touched an Avid, but this represents a quantum leap for media management within the Avid-sphere. You're still shackled to some extent by the way media files are treated in the Avid, but since it's a platform that's been around since the dawn of desktop video editing, it's understandable that they can't break out of that thread.
PPro and other applications work with media in a far different way. With them, there is no converting of imported media to a "preferred" container file like Avid does. Because Avid works that way, it requires no user intervention to point the application to the correct folder to store that media--it just "knows". But PPro is working directly with your captured and imported AVIs, MOVs, JPGs, PSDs, WAVs, P2 MXFs--you name the media file, and there is no "changing" of the media happening (unless you do it before import). PPro doesn't really care what the file is (within reason) or where it is; if you import it, it'll work with it wherever it's located on your computer. Obviously, this represents a sea change from the way you operated in Avid, but it's much more liberating when you get down to it.
That said, for those of us who have been accustomed to working on Avid and the way that it deals with media, it's daunting at first. It requires more organization on the user's part, and a little bit of set-up work to make sure that everything's in its right place. It seems a little kludgy to have to point PPro to the folder you want to capture to every time you create a project, but it only takes a few seconds, and it provides incredible flexibility. For example, if you're capturing all of your tape-based media to a specific folder on your media drive, it's a simple thing to just drop that folder onto an external drive for backup. Likewise, you can drop your project folder (as I've outlined how I set mine up in previous posts) on that same drive, and you have a total backup that can be restored very quickly. Media management, like deleting unused files or old renders, isn't quite the same as Avid, I'll grant you. However, there are ways to accomplish these and other media management tasks, both within the software and at the OS level.
Let me address a few of your points now:
For instance when I read the words Master Clip my ears perk up because those are pretty important in Avid Media Composer. But the "log clip to" option is just a way to indicate a bin/folder to store your logged clips in case you want to batch capture later or if you like to keep things tidy in the project window like I do and have all of the stuff you brought in from tape in a specific bin. FCP has that feature but they call it something else "default capture bin". Same thing different name.
Master clips are pretty much the same in PPro as they are in Avid--they are your virtual representations of the media files on your disk. They are part of the project, not separate free-floating beings. I liken them to "Shortcuts" on Windows and "Aliases" on Mac OS; they're just pointers.
"Log Clip To" not only points where logged clips go, but also where clips that you capture on-the-fly are stored, within your project. Avid provides the same in their Capture tool, if I remember correctly, and FCP does this by setting the "Logging Bin". Potato, potato.... that doesn't work so well in print.
I found it odd that an "encoded" folder is an automatic when encoding is not a given - you may lay off to tape most of the time or dynamic link to Encore. It led me to believe that that was were the captured footage would be sent to by default and when it wasn't there when I chose "same as project" I was like WTF.
Yeah, I get this. It seems rather pointless; as I mentioned previously, sometimes I use this folder, sometimes I don't. I have a sneaking suspicion that this is some kind of holdover from the pre-"Pro" days of Premiere. Unfortunately, the only recourse is just to ignore it.
Different editing programs call captured footage different things. Avid calls it digitizing, FCP calls it capture. I used one package once called it the "magic morphing mechanism" (kidding) In Avid all of your digitized files have to be in a folder named OMFI or MXF which of course can be put on the scratch disk of your choosing but they have to go in that folder and it's automatically created. But the inside of an Avid OMFI or MXF folder is a real conglomeration of file types all spread out a lot like this PPRo (at least PPRo creates the folder named after the project for the captured footage). However, AVID has a very robust media manager that helps you find asssociated media by project, type and location.
Does Avid still call it "digitizing"? I can't remember what they called it, last time I used it. Again, that's due to Avid coming online sometime around the late Cretaceous period when people still shot on analog tape (gasp). Nowadays, with most shot tape being digital, "Capture" is probably the more accurate nomenclature, as the video is already in a digital form. I like the "magic morphing mechanism" though--I need to get me one of those.
I touched on the Avid points above; I won't re-spew.
Premultiplied files are AVID's name for previews so you can do a search for those, it finds them all for that project in the one OMFI folder for example and you can delete them or whatever.
Now, now--as an Avid editor, you should know they're called "precomputes" Just ribbin' you...
FCP calls them rendered files and puts them in a centrally located folder called rendered that it creates seperate and automatically for each project but all the projects are in that one render folder. In FCP you get a quicktime inside your automatically made centrally located capture folder/inside a folder with the project name. And you only set that capture location once.
FCP probably has the most flexibility of any of the NLEs when it comes to media folder creation, but it's also the most dangerous. I spend some of my days on this system, and it's sort of weird, powerful hybrid of how Avid handles media and how PPro handles media. The problem is that it's REALLY easy to screw up, and you can end up with "Capture Scratch" folders stacked inside of others to the nth degree if you're not careful. FCP creates just as many (in fact, I think more) "system" folder as PPro--like the Waveform Cache folder, and the Constant Frames folder, and Renders folder, and lions and tigers and bears, oh my. I've grilled a buddy of mine who is an FCP editor for hours about this (he also came from Avid) and he said he finally just gave up trying to make it make sense, and just goes with it. Apparently it's some sort of zen thing.
My point is, you can make it work the way you say, and to an extent I'd like to see PPro offer this as an option, though not a standard.
Maybe it's a windows thing but I wasn't expecting anything but the .mpeg or whatever and now I have multiple file types associated with the one capture. .caf .pek. I just like to keep things in tidy but simple folder structure and understand what the files are so when I go to clean my drive I know what to delete and what to save. To me it's a bit of an annoyance to have to set these locations for each project. I'll get over it, maybe.
Well, in the case of .CFA (ConFormed Audio) and .PEK (waveform PEaK) files, those are generated when you import/capture media with audio. CFA files are created when an audio clip doesn't match the sampling rate of your project's audio, and PEK files are the waveforms that are drawn on audio clips. FCP does the same thing; that's what the Waveform Cache folder is all about. You might also come across things like .MPGINDEX files, which are index files created when an MPEG clip of some sort is imported (it tells PPro where independent frames in an MPEG-encoded video stream are located). You don't see things like this on Avid because of the "rewrapping" that goes on--Avid simply forces every imported clip to play by its rules. Because PPro is all kumbaya about media, it has to create this "helper" files. It might seem a bit messy, but for the most part they'll be stored with your media files. In fact, there's a preference in Edit > Preferences > Media to save these generated files next to the media they are sourced from. They're typically small files, so they're not much to worry about. I assure you, you'll get over it.
I think your method of creating a project folder on a seperate drive of course and then pointing everything to that is a good method and should keep me organized and sane.
Honestly, the way that I've set up my projects and media drive is influenced by my time on Avid. Using the present options available within Premiere, it's the closest approximation that I've been able to create that mimics the media file/folder relationship as it is in Avid. It's not perfect, at least not when you compare it to how you're accustomed to working in the Avid, but in time I really think you'll start to like it even better.
...maybe you know if there a way to decompose a sequence or batch capture a sequence with PPRo?
No way to decompose as you do in Avid, but you can try a couple of things to slim down a project if this is what you're trying to accomplish. For one, go to Project > Remove Unused and that will remove all media from your project that is not being used. It doesn't delete the media from this disk; it simply gets rid of all the master clips that are not being referenced by any sequence in your project. Additionally, you could try the Project > Project Manager. It's not the Media Manager from Avid, by any stretch of the imagination, but what it will allow you to do is either collect all files used in your project and move them to a new destination, or you can trim your sequences (with handles) and move that trimmed media to a new location. Check it out on a COPY of your project first, just to be safe.
To batch capture, simply highlight your offline clips in the Project panel, and select File > Batch Capture. The Capture tool will open up, and will prompt you for tapes as they're needed; I'm sure you've done this in Avid, and it's not a whole lot different from that. Here you can read all about it...

Help creating project specific ALSB Customization file using WLST

I asked this question in August in another forum and was redirected here, but never followed up. I'm hopeful someone has done this...
Is it possible to create an ALSB CUstomization file for a single project using WLST?
If so, does anyone have an example they would be wiling to share. I've been beating my head against the wall for almost 2 days (well, months now...) , and I'm REALLy starting to get a headache from it now....
We're running WLS 9.2 MP2 and ALSB 2.6 RP1
Any help is greatly appreciated,

[SOLVED] A File Manager That Can Group Folders and Files like Fences

I want to create a custom desktop environment in Arch Linux and I'm looking for a file manager that is similar to Windows Explorer in terms of features and functionality and can group files and folders into fences like Stardock Fences does for the desktop in Windows.
If such a feature isn't available then I, at least, want to group both files and folders into individual groups based on custom parameters and not just Date or Size.
Is there any File Manager in Linux that can fulfill my requirements? If not, is there any file manager which can be extended (by scripting or programming) easily to include the features that I'm looking for?

OK, maybe not something like fences in a file manager but I, at least, want to be able to group files AND folders (within a folder or a directory) under a single parameter and that parameter can be custom and not just pre defined like Date and Size.
Huh. I'm down to Konquerer, like you suggested, and Dolphin. Can I use either as a stand alone file manager in a custom DE in Arch without using KDE?

Bugs:
Recently/probably fixed bug:
- Restoring keypad mode in command win after resizing
- Files with macros work
- Opening vim in pyfmii and resizing gives an EINTR that will now be ignored.
- Resizing to a really small window caused a crash/infinite loop
Different behavior/features that I won't change:
- if with tab-completion you have a full match and there are more matches it will behave as if there was just a full match
- e.g.: dirs: "aa, aab" type: "aa<TAB>" -> "aa/"
- F2 advanced menu is not context sensitive like mc's
- you can't browse search results from '/'
- no bookmarks, ^\ will quit python actually
- F2-@ doesn't put the cursor at the start, F7/mkdir doesn't add a space so you can't begin typing right away
- mark all items marks directories too
- cd'ing to symlinks is like cd'ing to the actual file, unlike in bash/mc. I don't think this can be fixed in python

I just realized that alt+1-9 is commonly used in WMs, am I right? And the same for Alt+F1-F9
CTRL+1-9 doesn't seem possible because CTRL+1 = 1 and CTRL+4=^\ which, as I said before, immediately quits python.
CTRL+F1-F9 is possible. I had previously bound ^F5-^F8 to a no-confirm version.
Shift+F1-F9 is also possible

Xterm Shift+F1 = F13
URxvt Shift+F1 = F11

EDIT: that leaves CTRL+F1-F9. I will remove all no-confirm keys. I have also put the command of F5-F8 in the configuration file so having two versions is not necessary (this will be in the next git push)
BTW Alt+1-9 (and now CTRL+F1-9) is used for setting the selected dir in the panel of the number (or cwd if a file), and it is also used in the command box to change panels (like regular 1-9) (after all you want "1-9" and "!-(" for commands)
And I noticed that the unicode space does not just not work on VC but also any non-unicode term like aterm. A normal space does work in all except in screen where it will cut off. If you go to the next window and back the bar restores, but any movement will cut it off again. Maybe there's a setting in screen that can control it. For now I removed all hardcoded unicode.

Screen behaves differently with "bce on" and "bce off",

Using bash as your file manager?

My belief is that all file managers suck. There are no exceptions to this. So, for the past few months, I've been sourcing a file with a bunch of tricks I've invented / found through browsing the web to make using just bash as a file manager much more convenient.

Actually, I found this to be one of the best advantages of using bash is that it forces a user to think about file organization and making useful naming schemes for files.
For example, instead of having 1000+ media files in one directory I subcategorize theme by genre or whatever, and then probably subcategorize them again.
Then I usually rename the files to something meaningful, like if I have 50 pictures of my kids birthday, just do a for each loop on the directory and rename all the files donovan_birthdayX.jpg where X is an integer incrementation.
essentially. just don't "have files cluttered all throughout you hard drive and folders all over". and your life will be much happier regardless of how you manage your files.

I would like to find a file manager/ image browser like ACDSee 32

Coming from the Windows environment (it is where I make my living) I have found the Mac environment to be significantly different and pose a considerable learning curve especially when it comes to file management. I like to be able to view and manage files from within the same application but have yet to find something that will allow me the freedom I am used to. Ideally I am looking for something like ACDSee 32 (the last good version) which acts like a typical file manager but has a full sized preview pane as well. This allows you to preview a picture then drag and drop it into a folder of your choosing. The software also allows you to do some minor edits and create folders as well.
Preview on my MacBook is a still born idea, iPhoto want to take all of my photos and store them in a proprietary environment (not happening) and Xie is a very nice file viewer but does nothing else. Any useful suggestions of a software that will do what I would like it to do would be appreciated.

Hi. Thanks for your very informative blog. I would appreciate it if you would consider writing blog tips to answer the following:
1) Why can't I organize my files in "Documents" or "File Manager" to "see" them in their sub-folders?
BBPB allows me to create SUB folders in the Documents folder, through my pc's access to the "Documents" folder in the Playbook. However, then I cannot "see" these created sub-folders on my BBPB after I disconnect my BBPB from my PC.
All the files I downloaded into these "sub" folders end up all together in the file list in "DOCS TO GO", either in "Documents" or "Music" or "Video" or "Pictures" ---- but these files are NOT separated into the sub-folders I created. The same thing happens in "FILE MANAGER" i.e. all files on the Playbook are in ONE place only.
Is the Playbook OS ever going to allow one to view sub-folders and what is in them, other than using the pc to do it? For example, it would be desirable to put all my ppt files into one folder.
2) How do I "play" a PPT file in the BBPB?
The BBPB "User Guide" says that I can "view, edit, or play" Powerpoint Presentations. However, although it describes how to "view" or "edit" individual slides, it does not say how to "play" ("run") a slideshow. How do you "play" a self-running slideshow?
For example, in Windows, you can click "play.bat" (in a saved "presentation cd" folder on a cd or USB stick) to run the ppt with sound and pictures saved in that folder (you don't need the Powerpoint program itself for this, since you are using the "pptview.exe" file in the same folder to "play" it). However, after downloading all the files in this "presentation cd" folder to the Playbook, I could only see one of them, the ppt file itself ---- and there is no icon in the Playbook to "play" the slideshow, it seems. Help?!

First, I use an app called "File Browser" to view those subfolders.
As for running a powerpoint, I can open a ppt file and it runs in Documents to go. Next to the "Close" button there are three icons. The third one runs the ppt file as a slideshow.

Some videos are semi-missing - they do not show up in File Manager apps or another app

I have what I will call three FILER apps: File Browser, Air Browser and File Commander. I also have MovieSRTPlayer. Those apps appear to not register the presence of some video files that I have definitely copied to my PB. The MovieSRTPlayer will overlay a .srt file's text over a video allowing the pb to show subtitles. It works as long as it can find the video and srt files.
I am definitely transferring a series of video files to the pb's video folder. I am also transferring a companion file to that folder. The companion file is a subtitle file in the form of an .SRT file.
THREE file manager type apps do NOT show those files as present in the video folder. The Video app itself does show and play those video files.
I have copied the files using both wifi-sharing and when they did not show up that way, I copied them using the usb cable to the pb's Z: drive and the video folder.
As stated the dam! files play in the video app. But they do not appear in the various filer apps. And they also do not show in another app, one that will display the subtitle (.srt file) file overlaying the video. In all instances it is as if the pb does not register the presence of those files on the pb.
Now, what is interesting is that when this first cropped up, 7 files were missing - just a mix of video (no .srt files involved). That is they showed in the video app and played but the filer programs did not show them. I managed last night and this morning to get 7 of those to finally show by copying/moving/deleting and recopying. But now I'm running into this brick wall again. I have repeatedly copied two video (avi files) and their companion .srt files to the video folder. They are in that folder (I've looked using usb and wifi-sharing) and they play in the PB's video app. They are most certainly on my pb.
Oh, and yes, I've rebooted a number of times.
Ideas?

They all show or don't show the same thing. So files are missing. And SIZE is not the sole determining factor. When I was testing MovieSRT and "lost" some files I copied and renamed avi and .srt files. So there are two extra .srt files in the Video folder. But while they are 32kb (kilobytes) and 58kb respectively, they do NOT show up in the File managers. The other two identical files with the names matching the .avi files do show up. The one very large mp4 (2gb) does not show up. A subfolder I created just as a test does not show up. But the large mp4 and subfolder were showing up while I was actively copying the 2gb file - they would show up as the file was being copied - the filemanagers showed the file getting larger and larger and while doing so the "missing" subfolder also kept showing up. Then once the large file was completely copied, both it and the subfolder "disappeared" - again, the large mp4 does show in the Video app and it plays.
My persistence probably is based on the fact I was a computer programmer many eons ago! Also, I was trying to get YOUR app to work and the avi files were not showing up in your listing but they were showing and playing in Video app (but no subtitles). Finally, after copying/moving/re-copying over and over including moving and copying to the PB's Print folder (just since it was empty) and copying it back to the video folder (now 2 copies), the files would finally show up. Peculiar - yup!
Oh, one other thing - the 3 file managers all show what I will call the virtual Playbook-Demo video in their listings - your app does NOT show it. Obviously, it is not located in the Video Folder but somewhere in the bowels of the PB. So, the filemanagers are relying on some "file structure" that is not fully correct. But your app does not appear to show it.

File Management in C5-03

Recently i was buying Nokia C5-03 because it has both 3g & Wifi as well as the price is
affordable. i am happy with this phone except some issues regards to file management. unlike the basic Nokia OS, here i couldn't find a way to manage my files easily. as an example, if i want to move some files from Image Gallery to a New Folder by Marking what i want to move, there is no option maybe still i could not. as well as does anybody know, if there's 3rd party file management software to download i beleive it will assist me on this concern.

Sorry but i don't have idea wher to post my problem. I have C503 and problem with the camera( always when i record video and sometimes with pictures) . During recording a video everithing is ok but when i want to watch( on telephone and on pc) recording is very bad ( slow, no sound, i see pixels and video is not clear) .When i use camera to shot pictures sometimes telephone just don't want to store my images ( no to card and no to tel memory ) .
Camera setings is on very high, 5 mega pixel for images and TV quality for video recording.

How delete unwanted system sync in file manager?

Hello! As a result of testing Z10 10.1.0.2014, Blackberry Link wifi sync of files with my Windows PC, I have extra repositories listed in File Manager on the Z10. The list shows "Device", "Media Card", "Box", and also "LT2", "LT2-1 (offline)" and "LT2-2". The string LT2 represents the PC's hostname.
I would like to delete the "LT2" and "LT2-1" entries from File Manager's list, as the Link feature does not work for them (early tests). Also I would then like to rename "LT2-2" (which does work) to just "LT2".
How can I do that? If not presently possible, please consider this a feature request.
I think this is a File Manager feature request, not a Blackberry Link request.
