Spaces allowed in role names for access credentials?

Are spaces allowed in role names for access credentials?
We have a credential from our Leanring Management Sustem (Sakai) that is named "Project Owner."
We would, most likely, need to url encode this name when we send a credential over http post or get, but my question is on what the role should be named inside iTunes U itself.
Would the role be "project owner," "project%20owner," or other?

I haven't tested this, but ... if you can use spaces ... they are definitely going to have to be URL encoded. Recall that any credentials are going to have to, eventually, be made a part of an iTunes U request URL. Like any other URL, you have to follow basic URI rules about things like spaces.
If I can squeeze some time for this, I might try to see if I can created a credential with spaces. I'm not hopeful about the result ... but you can't win if you don't play.

Conceptual problem: 2 roles, 1 for access and 1 for allowed activities

in SAP BW 3.5, I'd like to have separate role for
- access to something (queries, inforarea, etc.)
- authorization to perform an action (01 Create, 02 Change, 03 Display, Execute, etc.)
The driver being that all users will have at least 2 roles, one telling what they can access and one telling what they are allowed to do.
So far, S_RS_COMP is not that useful because it combines these 2 concepts.
Any idea, how I may be able to do it?

As you state yourself, there is no obvious solution. Maybe a clarification of what you want to realize could help. Could it be that your distiction between "access" and "authorization for an action" is a bit fuzzy? What I want to say is that to grant access at least means to give authorization "03 Display".
What you could is to make a distinction between "datamodel access" (S_RS_COMP + RSINFOAREA, ...), "reporting access" (role with report menu) and "content access" (role with content based authorization objects). Maybe this idea helps.

in the QueryDesigner, press the "Where used button" (a little square with three arrows - or: seventh button from the right.) This should provide (among others) the roles.

As far as I have seen more than the transactions, the jobs associated with the transactions are used.
Also, the replication is done by the administrator of the system, which means either SAP_ALL or SAP_EC_BBP_ADMINISTRATOR.
I suggest you to run the associated jobs for the 2 transactions BBPGETVD and BBPUPDVD . Following are the jobs associated
BBPGETVD BBP_VENDOR_GET_DATA_JOB
BBPUPDVD BBP_VENDOR_UPDATE_DATA_JOB

Role names with spaces (6.1 to 8.1)

I'm working in an organization that has group and role names within their LDAP
repository such that the group and role names contain spaces. Hence, for example,
within a web.xml file lines like the following exist:
<role-name>Some Role Name</role-name>
This has worked without problem in Weblogic 6.1 but given some prelimanary work
within 8.1 we are noticing that Weblogic 8.1 does not appear to like spaces within
the <role-name> element.
Is this just the way it is with Weblogic 8.1? Or is there a way to continue to
use role names with embedded spaces within Weblogic 8.1?

A workaround exists :
1 - in web.xml, update your role-name element by replacing spaces with "_"
2 - in weblogic.xml, add :
<security-role-assignment>
     <role-name>Some_Role_Name</role-name>
     <principal-name>Some Role Name</principal-name>
     </security-role-assignment>

the thread is just for the background image (for all elements).
if you want to display icons instead of role names, you have to create your custom top level navigation using the
navigation taglib from SAP. There are lots of examples. make a blog search for Mr "Kannengiesser" from SAP.
In case you are using already an EHPx in your EP 7.0 the AJAX framework might have this feature.

CHGRDBDIRE change rdb name for new installation.

In the installation guide, SAP advices us to change the *LOCAL relational database name to match the hostname.
However, currently my system already has an *LOCAL rdb name entry which follows the default machine/serial number name . The command using CHGRDBDIRE advised by SAP doesnt allow changing the name for *LOCAL entry.
The only method to change the name is to delete the default *LOCAL rdb name and recreate a new *LOCAL entry. Is it safe do to so ? IT contains the objects the QGPL and QTEMP schema now.

How to access a url in file receiver CC with space in the folder name?

In a file receiver channel I would like to send the message to this folder:
de-prod.dk\bu\something\something\PTI eventstanden\archive\"
But I get this error message:
"Target directory 'F:\usr\sap\XP7\DVEBMGS02\j2ee\cluster\server0\"\de-prod.dk\bu\something\something\PTI eventstanden\archive"' does not exist"
My question is: where the f.... does it get the 'F:\usr\sap\XP7\DVEBMGS02\j2ee\cluster\server0\ from, and how can I fix it?
One issue is the space in the folder name. I have tried to replace the space with %20 and then remove the "" s around the whole url, but without any luck.
When I log on the server on which Pi is running I can access the folder using the mentioned url including the ""s.
All suggestions would be highly appreciated!

It works for me just to copy the folder from Windows explorer into channel config. With space and without ".

Importing a pkg with rely on server storage and roles for access control

Hi we run std 2008 r2. I'm reading documentation on prot levels during pkg import to catalog at

isn't clear. They used the prot level name to define it which didn't help me.
This option looks appealing but it isn't clear why I need to enter a pswd when choosing this option. Will my peers need to know that pswd when they export? Will the sql agent job need to present that pswd when running? If I just keep current
prot level "encrypt with user" will the agent job be able to run it? I'm sure it (agent) isn't running with my creds now. Also, how can I tell what prot level it was deployed with last? I rt clicked on the pkg in the catalog
and don't see anything obvious about that. I already understand that on export prot level is changed to encrypt with user.
I'm going to look at the sql agen job right now to see what creds it runs with.

Working under Data Warehouse Workbench, when I click BI Content button, I get pop-up: "Logical system name for this BI is not allowed". Then I get three options from NW system: "Create", "Assign" or "Cancel".
What can I do? How to create a new Logical System?

"Low-level" authorizations for accessing BW reports - add users to role

Using the advice in Topic "Low-level" authorizations for accessing BW reports, I have been able to publish a query to a role that has 3 test users and each user gets the same query but with different data, as determined in the tables.
Is there a way to look up the users and e-mail addresses from a table and associate them to the role? We have several hundred e-mail recipients that will not need BW access, but only need an e-mail with a static report that contains data on their own territories.

i think programatically it might be complex. You got to maintain a seperate variant of report per user and use this variant to send mail. that means you need to maintain a variant and a Broadcast setting per user. once maintained you can use it any number of times the values will be recalculated everytime.

wf_engine.context_text for a role returns a role name on forward or transfer of a notification but i need to capture the username of the person in that role. Do we have any API for that?

Hi,
If the notification is being actioned from a worklist, then you can find out the current user using FND_GLOBAL.
If the notification is being actioned from an email then you will have the email address of the responder and will need to resolve that manually by looking in WF_USERS / WF_ROLES to find who is responding to the notification.
