Spaces and CS4

I use a lot the Spaces feature in Leopard.
I have big issues in using them with the Adobe CS3 and CS4 (wrong spaces, blank files, missing window frame etc etc).
I asked Adobe and they said they do not "officially" support Spaces and to ask Apple.
So, has anybody found out a solution to improve the usability of the Creative Suite with spaces?

How much memory do you have on your system? I use spaces with CS4 all the time. My typical work flow I will have Maya in one space, Final Cut Pro in another space, shake in a third space, After Effects in a 4th space. My typical photo edit sceneario I leave Photoshop and Lightroom in the same space so I can see the library of pic's in the background I am working on. I have 9gb of memory. I can watch the use grow and on a hard days working I typically will reboot once to clear the memory cache and let it start over. If I had 16gb I probably would not have to do that. If I only had 4gb I would probably be hosed with my workflow as I typically sit in the 3-6gb of memory occupied.
I have not seen an issue with CS4 and spaces. I work a dual monitor system, with my main system 1920x1200 24" Dell and a 1600x1200 21" Dell monitors. I do have a lot of memory and that may be the problem you are having.

CS3 Bridge and CS4 on the same machine.

Hello Everyone,
I have adobe photoshop CS3 and Illustrator CS4 on my machine. Any known issues for running bridge CS3 and CS4 on the same machine? Some experts at telling me not to use Photoshop CS3 with Bridge CS4, just wondering. Thanks for you replies.

Bridge is not really a stand alone product, and tuned to work with its current version of PS. Also, Bridge CS4 has some features changed and/or added. So if using CS3 Bridge you might have aspects that don't work with PS CS4.
I would keep CS3 on the machine if you don't need the HD space, until you feel you no longer need the older version. But use them as a pair as intended. Also, only have one Bridge running at a time.
I did not upgrade to CS4, but from what I have read I see no reason to use Bridge CS3 as the upgrade is faster, less prone to crashes, and has added features.
CS4 PS on the other hand can be tricky if you don't have a newer computer with a good video card.

CS3 and CS4 Together

I currently have CS3 Production Premium installed on my computer and am looking at purchasing CS4 Design Premium. What happens to those common programs (i.e., photoshop, illustrator, etc) when I install CS4 Design Premium? For example, will I end up with Photoshop CS3 (from my Production Premium install) AND Photoshop CS4 (from the Design Premium install) on my computer?
Also, will dynamic link work between CS3 programs and CS4 programs?
Lastly, is it best to uninstall those CS3 programs that will be installed in my CS4 Design Premium install prior to installing the Design Premium?

Thanks everyone for the replies. Robert is correct that I do NOT have CS3 Design Premium installed (only CS3 Production Premium). Also, hard drive space is not really an issue (I have 2 TB, much of which is unused). I still thought it was a little wasteful keeping older versions of programs on the computer if I have newer ones.
In addition to CS3 Production Premium installed, I also have standalone copies of Fireworks CS3,Dreamweaver CS3, and Acrobat Pro 9 already on my computer. My main reason for considering CS4 Design Premium is that I definitely want to upgrade to Dreamweaver CS4 which alone would cost me $199. Then, I realized that owning Production Premium CS3 qualified me to purchase Design Premium CS4 for $599. So, for $400 dollars (the difference between the CS4 suite and simply upgrading to Dreamweaver CS4) I'm not only getting upgraded versions of Fireworks, Illustrator, Flash, Photoshop, I'm also getting InDesign which I don't currently have.
The first responder above mentioned that Adobe doesn't recommend keeping two different versions of the same program installed. Therefore, I am leaning towards uninstalling those programs that will be duplicated. Then, I just wanted to make sure that the CS4 versions of those programs would still "play nice" with the remaining CS3 programs.

Color differences between LR and CS4

I've recently switched from PC to MacbookPro and installed latest versions of Lightroom and CS4. I do most of my editing in Lightroom and sometimes export to Photoshop. I noticed that there is a huge difference between the colors in Lightroom vs the colors in Photoshop even with NO editing done at all when I firt import to Lightroom. I import my raw files into Lightroom, do no editing, reset the files to ensure no editing, and then export into Photoshop and the image looks totally different color wise. Any ideas as to why?? My color settings are all set to srgb consistanty amongst all the 2 systems. Any other thoughts on what could be causing this? THanks

You NEVER EVER want to use the monitor profile as the working space. The only exception is when you make small graphics (i.e not photographs) for websites that need to match CSS code. Photoshop needs to be setup as the first image in
this link i.e. using a standard workingspace (mostly sRGB, adobeRGB, or prophotoRGB) and to respect all embedded profiles.

Photoshop does not need to be told about the monitor profile. It already automatically converts everything you see to it since it knows the monitor profile by simply asking the system software. What you see in your case is that Lightroom (or ACR if you use the RAW photoshop integration) correctly exports the image in a standard color space (whatever you choose in Preferences) and then you have set up Photoshop to completely disregard this fact and treat the image as if it was in the monitor profile. This is not a good thing to do.

How to make nonbreaking space and/or hyphen

I'm trying to figure out how to to make a nonbreaking space and/or hyphen in dynamic textfields in AS2 (specifically with CS4 publishing to Flash player 7 or 8).
I just tried the new TLF textfields in CS5 and I was able to use & #160 and & #8209, but that requires publishing to AS3 and Flash 10. Those codes don't seem to work for the classic textfields.
I've also tried & nbsp; but that didn't work.
Anybody have some other way?

You may see whether you can get close enough with this:
1) Cut the rectangle at the lower corners with the Scissors Tool;
2) With the bottom side path selected, Effect>Distort & Transform>Roughen with Smooth Points and trying out the other vaues to get the desired look if possible;
3) Object>Expand Appearance, Ungroup and delete the unwanted nostroke/nofill path;
4) Join the paths into one.
Save for Web as PNG24 (or GIF if you must) to have the transparency (and crispness).

Premiere CS3 and CS4 Crashes

I'm having trouble with Premiere Pro versions CS3 and CS4 crashing and am not sure why. The problem usually occurs after a few minutes of the program being opened or when we either try to scrub through the timeline or try to capture. It's very frustrating. The machine came installed with CS4 and we have tried to remove and then re-install. We have also tried removing and adding CS3 and have had similar results. Recently we purchased a school license for CS5 although for Premiere we had to install the CS4 version and still have gotten the same results. This was working fine for quite sometime and I can't come up with a resolution to what is causing the problem. Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions on what to look into correct the problem? We are on an XP computer.

My problem is that I need to set space insteadOf empty String, but I think that I can not use PreparedStatement to do this. I have performance problems (my query is much more complicated than this one) so I choose PreparedStatement and not Statement.

Here the type of field(djwitem) and setmethod is should be match..i mean if the type of ur field is String then you need to use the setSting method.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I recently deleted a partition on my mac that was intended to install windows. Now it is just blank space. I attempt to resize my Macintosh HD partition to cover entire hard drive space and hit apply but nothing happens (disk utility). Any ideas?

I have a few problems...
I wanted to make a partition to install windows, I tried to use bootcamp 5 where it wanted to partition and install windows at the same time. I do not have a cd of windows but instead had it on a flash drive. Bootcamp couldn't find it. Instead I was reading forums and found that there was another way to install windows by partioning your harddrive using the disk utility, downloading the bootcamp drivers, and installing rEFIt (an app that when starting the compouter a menu would come up to boot windows from the flashdrive). I try that and the windows install screen gets me to the point where I pick a partition. I attempt to pick the partitioned drive but a message comes up telling me that "this is of the GPT partition style" and windows cannot be installed on the drive.
So now I went back to disk utility and deleted the partition but there is still blank space. I wanted to retry and install windows through bootcamp (somehow) but a message comes up that there cannot be any partitions or that a partition must be created using bootcamp. SO i keep trying to drag the partition over the blank space and hit apply but nothing happens.
By the way I was trying to install windows 8 pro, some forums would say that you cant install win8 however I found others that said you could. How do I fix my partition and how do I use bootcamp to install windows (preferrably 8)?

Csound1 What Ive been trying to explain is that I have been running bootcamp, I open the app where the first screen is the introduction, i hit continue, the first time I select "download the latest windows support software fromm Apple" then I return and instead select "Install Windows 7." Then hit continue. The third screen is where I "Create a Partition for Windows" I set Windows to 80 gigs then hit INSTALL. As stated before Bootcamp cannot find the install drivers saying "The installer disc could not be found." My windows software is on a USB drive not a disc, I tried using a virtual disc reader to make it appear that the windows software was running on a disc, still no luck. What I would like to know is how to install windows on bootcamp.

After upgrading to 8.1 Pro from 8.0 Pro, my Storage Spaces and Storage Pool are all gone.

Under 8.0 I had three 4-terabyte drives set up as a Storage Pool in Storage Spaces. I had five storage-space drives using this pool I had
been using them for months with no problems. After upgrading to 8.1 ( which gave no errors ) the drives no longer exist. Going into "Storage Spaces" in the control panel, I do not see my existing storage pool or storage drives. I'm prompted
to create a new Pool and Storage Spaces. If I click the "Create Pool" it does not list the three drives I used previously as available to add.
Device Manager shows all three drives as present and OK.
Disk Management shows Disks 0,1,2,6. The gap in between 2 and 6 is where the 3,4,5 storage spaces drives were.
Nothing helpful in the event log or the services.
I've downloaded the ReclaiMe Storage Spaces recovery tool and it sees all of my logical drives with a "good" prognosis for recovery. I've not gone down that road yet though because it requires separate physical drives to copy everything to
and they want $299 for the privilege.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking of doing a fresh 8.1 install to another drive to see if it can see it or reinstalling 8.1 to the existing drive in the hope that it will just suddenly work. Or possibly going back to 8.0.

Keep white spaces and carriage returns?

I'm viewing a column -VARCHAR2(4000)- in a standard report column.
The column value contains white spaces and carriage returns.
I put "white-space:pre;" in CSS Style, but it still skips carriage returns...
What can I do to view white spaces and carriage returns?
I'm using apex 3.0 and IE 7.

I'm using apex 3.0 and IE 7.There's your problem...
IE6 (and, since there don't seem to be any docs saying anything different, presumably IE7) don't support white-space: pre in quirks mode. Don't ask me why - probably in one of MS efforts to "not break the web".
All the APEX built-in templates are rendered in quirks mode as they don't supply complete DOCTYPEs. If you are using a standard APEX template or a custom template without a complete DOCTYPE declaration you are probably seeing this quirks behaviour.
It looks like this will change in IE8.

If they were put there via iTunes sync process, then simply untick the Music box before syncing again.

Whatever you read about iTunes is wrong unless you're actually referring to feature movies, not videos. Videos, apps, music and iBooks you can re-download:

Download to your computer and then sync to your iPod touch whatever will fit.
And no, I can't say with certainty that they won't give you a refund, but it's unlikely. The most probable outcome, if you do indeed mean movies, not TV shows or other videos, is that they would set up an additional download. For other content they'll probably just direct you to the same instructions on re-downloading I just posted.
