Spark.effects.Resize in flex 4.6

Hi,
     I am using the spark.effects.Resize for a textInput, if I use it several times it change the hight and the width of my field. control. Is there a way to correct that problem?
Regards,

Hi,
you could use mediaWidth or mediaHeight properties of the mediaPlayer to get those values.
I think you have run into a stageVIdeo related issue - are you sure that stageVideo is not active?
My recommendation is to raise an issue at http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FM , providing an example code that replicates your issue.
Thank you in advance,
S.

  • Spark.effects.Fade and effectEnd (Gumbo)

    Hello all,
    I'm sure this is going to be a really daft question and I'll slap my head when someone points me in the right direction, but I can't seem to figure it out... Basically I'm trying to use the spark.effects.Fade class on a sprite that I have - that works no problem at all (it's surprisingly verbose though in AS3). But what I can't seem to do is add a handler for when the effect ends (effectEnd).
    The documentation ( http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Flex/4.0/langref/spark/effects/Fade.html - which is largely MXML orientated from what I can see) suggests that effectEnd is inherited from mx.effects.Effect - could this be where the issue is coming in. Do I need to cast the Fade object?
    This is the code that I'm using at the moment:
    var fadeAni:spark.effects.Fade = new spark.effects.Fade( );
    fadeAni.target = _tip;
    fadeAni.alphaFrom = 1;
    fadeAni.alphaTo = 0;
    fadeAni.duration = 500;
    fadeAni.effectEnd =function ( e:Event ) {
        removeChild( _tip );
        _tip = null;
    fadeAni.play();
    And with that mxmlc says:
    $ mxmlc app.mxml
    Loading configuration file /usr/local/flex_sdk_4.0.0.10485/frameworks/flex-config.xml
    /Users/allan/Desktop/Flex/flex_test/components/ToolTip.as(130): col: 13 Error: Access of possibly undefined property effectEnd through a reference with static type spark.effects:Fade.
    fadeAni.effectEnd =function ( e:Event ){
    Many thanks,
    Allan

    This is all correct, but here's a couple of tips for de-verbosifying effects:
    - You don't need an "alphaFrom" if the sprite already has the alpha value you want - it will pick up the current value as the value it starts from.
    - You don't need a 'duration' if you're animating for 500 ms - that's the default
    - Fade works with the state values when used in a transition. So, for example, if an object exists in one state and is removed in the next state, then a transition with a Fade (no arguments declared) on the target will automatically fade it out. Examples on this here:
    http://graphics-geek.blogspot.com/2009/08/video-fade-effect-in-flex-4.html
    (yes, this is an mxml solution, or at least a solution that involves states, as opposed to the dynamic approach in the Allan's original example, but it seemed worth mentioning, because effects are tuned to be particularly simple when used in transitions).
    Chet.

  • How to explicitly resize a flex container

  • Feature Request: originX ,originY on mx.effects.Resize

    The properties originX and originY exist on mx.effects.Rotate
    for setting the registration point for the center of the rotation,
    and they would be nice to include on mx.effects.Resize as well.
    Thanks

    I'm not sure the zoom effect would be appropriate for my
    situation.
    I want to being able to enlarge an object starting at 100%
    and go up to 3x its current size, zoom goes from 0% to 100%. Also
    it appears zoom scales the content as opposed to setting a new
    width/height which means that lines strokes and fonts would look
    distorted until zoomed to 100%
    For now I'm using a Move effect in conjunction with Resize
    effect to get the content to resize from its center.

  • Resizing a flex application

    I am trying to write a resize function for my flex

    Can someone tell me where I am going wrong?
    Thanks in advance

    DIsplay Object Stage would cause the exception the first time
    you run the application. A simple if condition can help you
    overcome the issue..
    private function resizeHandler():void {
    if(stage != null){
    t.text = stage.width + " - " + stage.height;
    t.text += "\n" + stage.stageWidth + " - " +
    stage.stageHeight;

    in flex 4.7 Mobile project,use s:TitleWindow:PopUpManager.removePopUp(this);why show "cannot convert mx.events::CloseEvent@88d8941 to spark.events.PopUpEvent"?

    This is the error because the runtime does not find any way to call Java script that usally is called through External interface. So my guess is you are using a AIR project. U just need to download the latest swc http://code.google.com/p/facebook-actionscript-api/downloads/list for destop in your case and don't forget to but FBJSBridge.js to put in your source that will b used to help AS call Facebook API from AIR runtime

  • Importing 4 Glass Effect Buttons in FLEX from Photoshop?

    Hi,
    I made 4 glass effect buttons in Photoshop CS3, for mouse up,
    over, click and out. I want to use these buttons in FLEX by
    importing them and relate them with these mouse events.
    How do I do that?
    Thanks

    I did figure out a work around to both problems.
    I still use a timer but now I set the constructor to fire every 1 frame. While I have not been able to attach a listener directly to the child movieclips that tells me when the MovieClip reaches the last frame, I did find that I'm able to test for this state without the listener. Each time my Timer calls the listener, I have it check to see if the child in question has reached the last frame or not. If so, I stop the MovieClip. Works great now.
    private var btnMovieClip:MovieClip;
    btnMovieClip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnMovieClipListener);
    private var btnClicked:String = "";
    public function btnMovieClipListener(event:Event):void {
    if(event.target.name == "myInstance") {
    btnClicked = event.target.name;
    btnMovieClip.gotoAndPlay(0);
    var timer:Timer = new Timer(1);
    timer.start();
    timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, checkFrames);
    private function checkFrames(event:TimerEvent):void {
    if(btnClicked == "myInstance") {
    if(btnMovieClip.currentFrame == btnMovieClip.totalFrames) {
    btnMovieClip.gotoAndStop(0);
    event.target.stop();
    event.target.removeEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, checkFrames);

  • Is the "grain" and "sparkly" effect gone in new 15" MBP with LED?

    There has been quite a lot written about "sparkly" display in matte and glossy 15" MBP. I had one and returned it to Apple. Can anyone confirm, that the new MBP 15" has a better display? Is the grain still there or is it gone?
    Thanks in advance.

    According to Apple, the quality and brightness are similar. I'd go and have a look before getting to excited.
    From the interview:
    What is the comparison in brightness, color range?
    Identical to the previous generation.
    Glossy and Matte finish in all screen sizes and variants?
    Yes.

    Log Message:
    Made layout constraint animation actually work. Animating constraints (left, right, etc.) with the Animate effect worked previously, but only if the animation values were explicitly specified or, in a transition, if both states had valid values for the constraint. But if you attempted to run a transition animating "left" where the constraint was cleared in either state, the animation would fail.
    The fix checks for invalid values in the states and, when they occur, animates other related properties instead, or in addition. For example, an animation on "left" may turn into an animation on "x".

  • Flex Spark Datagrid - Scalable (font size) with No scroll Bars

    I was wondering what would be the most optimized way to scale (increase/decrease) the fonts size in a Spark DataGrid with NO Scroller, so as to make it when the User Resizes the DataGrid, the Fonts inside the Grid would increase/decrease.
    Is there a way to listen for the size change of the DataGrid?
    I would probably need to change the font size to increase/decrease as the event gets fired on Datagrid Resize.
    Any suggestions?

    I've pasted as much code as I can legally can.  What i would like to achieve is that when the the window resizes, the Content & the DataGrid Scales. I am also aware of scalemode on the VBox, though it scale oddly with width more than height (this is internal).
    Else, I tried:
    protected function vgroup1_addedToStageHandler(event:Event):void
                //stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.EXACT_FIT;
                stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.SHOW_ALL;

  • [svn:fx-trunk] 10960: Fixed performance of Wipe effect.

    Revision: 10960
    Author:   [email protected]
    Date:     2009-10-09 13:55:47 -0700 (Fri, 09 Oct 2009)
    Log Message:
    Fixed performance of Wipe effect. It turns out that micro-tuning the shader code is very important, since that same inner loop runs on every pixel of the bitmap being affected. This change splits the single Wipe shader (with a direction parameter) into four separate Wipe shaders (WipeLeft, etc.), to avoid a switch on the direction parameter. Also, it avoids some setup of pixel values, only bothering to sample the pixel values after it determines which image to sample from. Little stuff, but gained about 20-25% performance on some sample wipe effects.
    QE notes: This broke 3 Wipe effects tests because the old WipeEffectInstance class went away. These tests have supposedly been updated by the time this checkin is happening.

  • [svn:fx-trunk] 9287: Fixes bug with shader-transition effects ( AnimateTransitionShader, Wipe, and CrossFade) when acting on targets that either have filters or are inside a hierarchy with filters .

    Revision: 9287
    Author:   [email protected]
    Date:     2009-08-13 15:53:43 -0700 (Thu, 13 Aug 2009)
    Log Message:
    Fixes bug with shader-transition effects (AnimateTransitionShader, Wipe, and CrossFade) when acting on targets that either have filters or are inside a hierarchy with filters. Fix was to capture the bitmap snapshot of the target without any of its own filters applied and to then use the ShaderFilter in conjunction with the target's filters during the animation.

    Lots to be excited about. BUT...Just updated to 8.1 on one of my computers to test it out...
    Sadly, the following issue is NOT fixed for me. Is it with new projects only?  I haven't started a new project on 8.1 I've only opened an old project but the issue that I'm referring to which involves also a delay/freeze of anywhere from a few seconds to a MINUTE while the render bar goes from yellow to red and then back to yellow is still there. Boo.
    On the list above...
    Switching between sequences can turn the render bar red.
    This issue is incredibly easy to replicate. I really do hope it gets fixed. Here are the steps:
    1) Create two sequences with multiple short clips (the more clips the better)
    2) Make sure GPU acceleration is enabled.
    3) Add warp stabilizer to the clips in both sequences. Again, the more clips the longer the delay/freeze will be as the render bar goes from YELLOW to RED and then eventually back to YELLOW again.
    4) Hit SAVE.
    5) Now, toggle between sequences. You'll hit a short delay with a few clips stabilized and a LONG delay with lots stabilized. In my case this delay is around a full minute. The render bar will go from YELLOW to RED and then back to yellow...eventually.
    6) Toggle back to the original sequence and the delay occurs again.
    7) Once you've toggled between sequences and have gone through this delay, that's it, there is no longer a delay...UNTIL...(and here's the big kicker)...until the project is SAVED again. After that the issue returns when you toggle between sequences. Both saving manually and AUTOSAVING cause this issue. No way around it except not editing with GPU acceleration.
    Not sure what the issue is...caching issue when saving maybe? Either way, it stinks and it's still there in 8.1. Big bummer.
    Again, lots to be excited about with this release but I really was hopefully this specific issue was resolved.
    Sigh.
