Spawning my own JPopupMenu breaks every single JComboBox in the application

That's pretty much it.
I have determined the problem is in no way caused by the contents of the popup menu, but rather the popup menu itself. I have a popup menu which contains only a button which does nothing (I've tried this same thing with just a checkbox, just a radio box, just a text widget...same thing happens). If I bring up the popup and then hide it right away, everything else works fine. If I bring up the popup and click the button, every single combo box in the application (there are dozens) is suddenly in this weird state where even though you can bring up their list popups, selecting items there won't change the contents of the text portion of the widget and in fact an action listener won't even report that an event has taken place.
When the CBs are in this state, you can use the keyboard to select items. You can also click and HOLD the mouse button and release on your selection and that will properly select the item, but clicking to select list items doesn't work.
Somehow, the JPopupMenus are swallowing all the mouse pressed events for any other popupmenus in the system. Sounds like a REALLY low level java bug to me...
OS: Win XP, Win 2000, Win ME, Solaris, FreeBSD, Linux.
JVMS: Pretty much all the ones you can run on those platforms.

Of course it's been a while since the original poster brought up this problem, but I was just having this same issue. It had nothing to do with mixing light-weight and heavy-weight components though.
In my case, I was using a JPopupMenu with some buttons in it as a sort of toolbar flyout, and whenever you would click one of the buttons, all combo boxes in the application would cease to allow simple mouse selection of items in the list. This behavior is evidently related to bug #4492892 and supposedly only applies to the Windows look and feel.
I think I've found a reasonable work-around. Setting all of the components in the popup menu to be non-focusable (ie. button.setFocusable(false); ) seems to do the trick. Just hoping others might benefit from this solution. Cheers.

I'm managing a web application, and we're looking at changing from using cookies, to passing session variables in every HTTP request to maintain session information.
So basically, I have a variable that needs to be appended to every single URL in the entire site - not just in links, but in cflocation tags etc.
Is there any way to just ADD information to the end of every URL, without otherwise CHANGING anything in that URL?
This site is hand-coded, but I have access to Dreamweaver CS3, so I thought I'd ask if it was possible - it'd save me a bunch of time!

I am familiar with DW's basic find/replace functions, but I don't think it'll work in this case.
See, the URL's are almost ALL unique. Many of them already include other URL variables... This is a pretty server-intensive web application, with a lot of data manipulation and database reads/writes.
So I was hoping for a function that could find all URL's (it could just look for a string containing .cfm), and append the code to include one more variable to the URL.
I see there's a way to use a regex in the find/replace tool, but it'd probably take me as long to write and debug the regex as it'd take to manually mod the URLs lol.

How do you try to start the repair dialogue? By starting Aperture or by opening the Library?
If you not already have tried it with directly opening the library:
reveal your Aperture Library in the Finder
Whilst holding down Command(⌘)- option (⌥) double click on the Aperture Library.
Select "repair library" from the dialogue.
What about Frank Caggiano's questions above?
It would be really helpful to know, how many libraries you have, and if this problem is restricted to one of them.

What you are seeing aren't "service providers", they are your neighbors wireless networks. Assuming you have provided your own wireless network with a unique name it should be easy to select, and once you sign on to it, your MBA should pick it up and automatically sign you in. The visibility of the other networks would be moot.

.nomedia not working album showing every single image in the system

there are same questions like this in this forum, I did my search but none of them has a solution.
And this problem is annoying me. I see every single image present in my cell phone in the album app.
from frames and stickers of a photo editor to the album arts of music files and profile images and what not.
I was using another app to view images but i have to admit the default album app is better, but why doesn't it
recognize .nomedia files and go on displaying every image.
is there any solution to this. hope they fix this in the next update. sony are you listening.

I am using "quickpic" now. came across the name in this forum itself for the same problem.Thanks to that guy.
quickpic does my job. it is less than 1Mb and performs better than the sony album app. it is fast, organized, elegant even plays videos what else can i ask for.

Editing Wiki adds extra breaks every time I save the article

I’ve been working on the article below and I’ve noticed that every time I save the article it adds extra breaks.
I’m not an HTML guy so if it looks horrible in the HTML view let me know.

I've also got this problem, and I'd reckon it started around the time I installed IE10 on Win7. It continues still, with IE11 on Win7.
The strange thing is that there are a couple of wiki articles I curate, and they have tables in them, when I add an additional row to the table and populate it, the oversupply of 's doesn't seem to happen.

Is there a way I can view the classic reader for the whole of Thunderbird without me having to change it for every single mail, 'cos the other view is confusing

All views other than the classic view are unnecessarily complicated, confusing and - to me - irritating. The view of each individual mail can of course be changed which is tiresome. Is there a way to have Thunderbird - who is otherwise a very good mailing software - in classic view for all my e-mails. By way of one general button that allows classic view throughout.

eer... did you install the conversations add-on by any chance? Thunderbird has not changed the way it views mails ever I don't think, so I am looking for another cause in your case.

How am I supposed to get help with a browser hijacker when I cannot contact no one and every single option in the knowlege base concerning this doesn't work?

I have some spyware on my system that neither my malaware bytes, comodo antivirus, spybot search and destroy, and a few others I've tried, can detect. The piece of spyware is a browser hijacker that keeps hijacking my firefox homepage and nothing I can do will get rid of it.
the problem only happens in firefox and no other browser is affected. basically my homepage gets changed to the following:

Yes there are numerous options about this in the support section but none of them work. I have tried everything and I do mean everything and each time I restart firefox the bloody thing comes back. I've reset the pc - works until you close down the browser and restart it. I've gone into my profiles, i.e. user/AppData/Mozilla/firefox and deleted the .js files, parent.lock files - comes back on firefox restart. I've searched the registry the best I can. I have even put an entry into the Hosts file in syst32 and that has afforded me partial success in that I now get a 404 instead of the pesky and irritating jaamla search page. I have even gone into the About:config settings and wiped the url but no matter what I do it always comes back on restart and it's only with firefox.
This is something that firefox needs to look into and not assume that just because there are a few answers in the support section that they all work, because all of the options appear to work until firefox is restarted.
It even comes back after a complete uninstall and wipe - I am at a loss at what to do and where to go next. Please help!

I think the next step is to use Windows 7's auditing feature to figure out what processes are touching the file other than firefox.exe.
This is somewhat arduous to set up, but here's what I did. I have Win 7 Pro and I don't know whether this works on other versions.
(1) Open the Event Viewer to the Security log
Start menu > Control Panel > System and Security category > Administrative Tools
This should launch a folder of shortcuts. Double-click Event Viewer. If Windows objects, you may need to right-click> Run as Administrator.
In the left pane of the Event Viewer, click Security.
(2) Enable object auditing
In the Administrative Tools folder, double-click Local Security Policy (or right-click > Run as Administrator).
In the left pane, expand Local Policies and click Audit Policy.
In the right pane, double-click Audit object access and turn on both success and failure and OK the change. (screen shot attached)
(3) Enable auditing on prefs.js
Right-click your prefs.js file > Properties, click the Security tab, then the Advanced button. In the Advanced Security Settings dialog, click the Audit tab, then the Continue button. (screen shot attached)
Click the Add button and type Everyone, then click Check Names. After you click OK, you should get a dialog with numerous checkboxes. Clicking the Full Control box for each column should select everything. Then OK that. (screen shot attached)
(4) Test
Change a preference in Firefox that updates prefs.js (for example, you can change your home page). Then when you switch over to the Event Viewer, you can click Refresh on the right side (or choose a different category such as Application and then Security again to refresh the list), and you should find a listing in the File System task category for "a handle to the object was requested" for prefs.js, showing firefox.exe to be the active process. (screen shot attached)
(5) Assuming the test works, exit Firefox and watch for any other process touching the file.
When you're through, you probably want to turn this all off again, since it does use cycles in the background.

Every single extension on the Add-on Manager is gone! Adblock Plus too! Also evertime is restart Firefox why is AdBlock Plus not up there with Greasemonkey?

I think the Add-On Manager is bugged! Adblock Plus disappears when Firefox is restarted as well. I'm using the newest version of Firefox too. This thing has more bugs than the old one.

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also try to delete the addons.sqlite file.

Now iMovie is Crashing every time I open the application

I just started a new project in iMovie 08. I have worked in the older versions and am quite proficient. I created a new movie, everything was beautiful. Video came in from the camera nicely, audio sounded good. I added Transitions, background music, etc. Finalized the project and closed IMovie. When I just reopened it - more than half of the video in the project's thumbnails are gray, there is no audio on those now. I can play it, but there is no sound and there is no thumbnail. There is also about half of the "event" that I got the video clips from that also has gray thumbnails and no sound. Then the other half seems fine. I put a few hours into this project and was excited to show it to my kids, now it is not working and I am so frustrated. If anyone knows how to resolve this, please post.
NOW, iMovie is crashing every time I try to open it. If anyone can offer any info that can help me, I would appreciate it. I just got this new iMac this weekend and was really excited about using the new iLife apps, this is very frustrating.

I am new to macs but this I-movie8 which is one of the reasons I bought this notebook pro is crap. It crashes more often then not with the same issues you are having. It will not capture video without crashing most of the time. I have tried different cameras and different cables with the same results. I downloaded the Imovie6 and everything works without crashing. Could there be some major issues with this software? It also works fine with FCX but I am not ready for this program (still learning it). Not happy!!!!!!!!!!!

VISIO 2007 wizard runs every time I start the application

Every time I run Visio 2007 software, the wizard installation opens.
When I click on "cancel" the wizard window closed and then the Visio software opens.
I am using with win7 64bit.

I too had the same problem on one of our machines - what I found is that I had to go though a number of different registry keys in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and modify all of them so they no longer pointed to
the visio viewer. Once I had removed all instances pointing to viewer I found that it was then working again. Here is a list of my keys and their settings that got rid of the issue:

Is there any way of accessing my iPod through Windows without having to reinstall the apple iPod driver every single time?

I have an iPod Touch 4th Gen, and whenever I plug it into one particular computer, it has trouble detecting the camera's files (but it works on all others). I know this tells me that it's either a driver conflict, or something in the BIOS. I don't particularly want to be messing about in the BIOS though if I'm completely honest. Can anyone give any insight as to what my ipod is conflicting with/why it won't open in Windows.
The only time the iPod opens in Windows is if I go into 'Devices and Printers' and troubleshoot the device "Apple iPod" (Apple Mobile Device USB Driver works fine) but I have to do this every single time!
The computer I am using is running Windows 7 64-bit.
I have looked at the list of conflicting drivers which are given by Apple and I own no drivers by any of these manufacturers as far as I know.
(Thought I'd be better underlining that because someone will probably try and send me to that page.)
