Special Character in Web Service using OAS and Weblogic

In the project, we are using OAS be the app server, all the "<" in the context of xml in web service are converted to "<" automatically.
However, when we deploy it to weblogic, the "<" was converted to "&<;&"
Then another app try to unmarshalling it, but the app cannot handle the < the throw the exception. Do you know why the how to change it back to "<"?
OAS version:10.1.3.2.0

Ha Ha,
I found that one of the Spring WS lib we were using is 1.5.4.
It seems OAS ship with WS lib and the app use the OAS lib.
But weblogic did not have WS lib, then app need to use it's own lib. Then problem occur.
After change to version 1.5.8, the problem solved.

• Special Character XML Web Service call from Flex

Hi,
Let me first give a little background.
I have to query and return data in XML format. To do so, I have created a custom DSC component. In cases where XML has special characters, LC throws error saying that XML is not properly formed. To over come this issue I used CDATA tag at DSC component. Now LC works as it should and I returns correct result.
I have a web service call from Flex to get this XML result. Every time i trigger this web service I get an error message saying </document> tag is missing.
I understand in Flex, web service returned data is wrapped in CDATA tag, thats what i causing all this issue.
I am not sure, how to handle this situation, I am sure this is a common problem and there should be ways to work around it.
I would really appreciate if any one could point me in the right direction.
Thank you ..

The web service has four operations in it, I need pingQuery operation execution code since it doesnot need any input value.
I have used code something like this.. Any one please correct me if I am wrong..
<mx:WebService
<mx:WebService> id="webService" wsdl=""https://hydrogen.csd.sc.edu/axis2/services/AcademicHistoryService?wsdl
>

• Consuming an External Web Service using HTTPS and WS Security

Hello everyone,
I'm having a problem setting the security information in a SOAP header using a generated ABAP Client Proxy to consume an external web service that requires a User ID and Password in the Header section of the SOAP message. I need to use HTTPS. I'm on a WAS 7.01 SP08 system so from my readings, SAP is supposed to be able to add the username and password into the header section of the message. I can't seem to get SAP to add this information added to the header.
Here are the steps that I have taken to set the security values.
1) Created the client proxy from the WSDL in SE80. Basic Authentication on the Configuration tab was turned on automatically.
Note, Transport Security is set to None. I cannot change it.
2) Created an outbound set user name profile in transaction WSPROFILE with the appropriate username and password.
3) Added the profile to the default port in transaction LPCONFIG as an outbound under the WS Security section of the screen.
When I called the external Web Service, I got back the following error message:
com.ibm.wsspi.wssecurity.SoapSecurityException: WSEC5509E: A security token whose type is [http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-username-token-profile-1.0#UsernameToken] is required.
So, after reading through this Forum, I saw that I needed to use the SOAMANAGER. I set up a Proxy in the SOAMANAGER and manually created the Logical Port. This was the only way I could figure out how to set the Authentication Settings in the Logical Port to "User ID / Password". I then entered the User ID and Password.
However, I am still getting the same error message. I feel I am close but missing some small configuration to tell SAP to use WS Security with a Username token.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Stephen

I had this error again so I thought I would post my solution:
The issue is SAP needs to know the certificates being used by the web site being called. These certificates are automatically installed in your browser but need to be manually installed in SAP. This is what I did:
How to find/install new certificates
Make sure you run Internet Explorer as an Administrator so you can export the certificates
Go to the web site that SAP is trying to call in Internet Explorer
Double click on the lock in the address bar
View certificates
Find the certificates that are being used
Tools --> Internet Options --> Content --> Certificates
Click on the “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” tab
Find the certificate identified in step iii
Export as a CER certificate
Click on the “Intermediate Certification Authorities” tab
Find the certificate identified in step iii
Export as a CER certificate
Go to STRUST in SAP
Import the Certificates in the “Anonymous” or “Standard” SSL client
Save
RESTART the ICM via t-code SMICM <-- Critical!!!

• Errors trying to Invoke web service using BES and SIF

Moved this up from the Integration Forum to see if I can get some visibility on it.
Description : When an invoice get's approved we need to pass on the details of the invoice and approval to the 3rd party customer.
So far I have been able to test the business event which calls the web service that writes the information to a file. However, although the file is created there is no content in the file.
So the steps up to this point
1. Create a simple web service that takes a string as an input parameter and writes this out to a file.
2. Locate the Approve Invoice event [oracle.apps.ap.event.invoice.approval] and add a new subscription that will invoke my web service.
I have a number of issues at the moment.
From the business event page I can test the event which writes a record to the wf_java_deferred queue. I have been able to call the service and create a file however that seems to have stopped working. Where do I look to see what's going wrong? Is the diagnostics the best place to start
If I go into Status Monitoring I can see the last Business Event test I did is now having errors when it tries to invoke the web service. The error I get is

How do I get access to the payload? I only really need 2 or 3 items at this time. Do I need to extend a seeded java function? For example in my initial tests I only want to pass across the Invoice Id so how do I get the value of this attribute out of the wf_event_t (Is this the correct object name) and into the payload that is being passed across to the service call.
Cheers
Owen

Hello Owen
I am experiencing the exact same issue as you are (missing payload) when invoking a web service and was wondering if you have resolved this issue or gotten any new useful information?

You probably should post to either the NetBeans website mailing list, or the Sun forum that supports the Sun Application Server, as the error is the result of a configuration error of one or both of these products. A file can't be found:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: http://localhost:8080/TestWebApplication/TestWSService?wsdl
note The full stack traces of the exception and its root causes are available in the Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 9.0_01 logs.

I am a newbie to web services.
I want to publish pl/sql packages as web services using axis and tomcat. Can you please tell me where to start - I will appreciate any information, links to tutorials and docs. Can you please tell me what I need to deploy and run the services.
Thank you very much in advance!

Hello,
The OracleAS Database Web Service is only available for OracleAS using the Oracle Web Service runtime and tools as documented here.
If you are not using OracleAS or if you want to use another Web Service stack you can still manually program you Web Service manually using JDBC and is features.
Here a generic article: http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2003/08/13/stored_procedures.html
and you can use advanced features of JDBC and JPublisher if needed:

Hi,
This issue might be due to the invalid .pem certificate file.
Make sure to include the beginning and end tags on each certificate.
The result should look like this:
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----

• Books and resources teaching J2EE 5 (and creating web services using it)

Hi!
I'm starting a new job next week, developing a J2EE 5 system. I have a solid background in J2SE 1.4 and know most of the new syntactical and semantic stuff in J2SE 5.
What I need is a good book teaching J2SE 5 to someone inexperienced with J2SE in general. There isn't a need for me to study J2SE 1.4 as we won't be using it. Also, we will develop some web services using the platform. As time is of the essence I'd prioritize learning about those within the platform, at first.
I don't need to read the entire book in one week, of course. But I need something to study and also have as a reference by my side when programming.
As the offerings in J2SE 5 books seems quite low, I need some advice from you, more experienced people. What book or web resource do you recommend? Thank you for your time reading this post!
Best Regards,
Kent

Hello Kent!
I have found "Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0" by by Richard Monson-Haefel and Bill Burke really interesting. If you have some knowledge about Java EE in general go for it it's really good one!

• How to Create and Deploy Web Services Using Oracle 9i JDeveloper

Hi,
My Question is how to create and deploy Web Services using Oracle 9i JDeveloper.Anybody please give me a detailed Reply.Please Reply to [email protected]
Hopr to Hear From you,
Regards,
G Sreekumar

You could use datasources. You should do this in your BC4J Configuration. Then when deploying your applicaiton use the command -installDataSource (from admin.jar) to create the right datasource.
You could probably use the name of your connection + "DS" so you can also use it locally in JDeveloper as JDev seesm to create this automaticly for your Connections.

Are you getting any errors? What type of XAI Class are you using?
One thing I've noticed is that if you are making changes to the XAI Sender you will have to restart the environment before the changes can take effect.
Also, if you are using RTHTTPSNDR as XAI Class you may have to include the HTTP Method - Post in the context.
Hope this helps.

• Creating Web Services using Java Implementation

Hi,
This is quite a general question on how to create a Web Service using Java Implementation that needs to conform to a client XML schema.
Here are my Version specs,
I am using Jdeveloper 10.1.3.4.0 and deploying onto OAS 10.1.3.
I will be creating a J2ee 1.4 (JAX-RPC) Web Service using Document/Wrapped style.
I have been provided an XML schema from the client which is quite complex.
Using a top-down approach, I can create my WSDL file and import the XML Schema for my type definitions.
The Web service aim is to accept some parameters and return some data from the Oracle Database. The
XML response from the web service must conform to the element, attribute definitions in the provided XML schema.
From a Java implementation approach, what is the best (simplest or quickest) way to retrieve data from the Oracle
tables and map each fields/column to the required XML output (defined in the XML schema).
I'm not too concerned with using Java to retrieve data from the Database, more with how I can map the data returned
to the required output. Can this mapping task be controlled within the Java program?
Thanks in advance.

• Web service using jdev 10.1.3

Hi all....
i am trying to build a web service using oracle jdev 10.1.3.
i have built a simple java class that return common type such as String, int, long and publish theses method as web service and it works successfully......
but when i tried to build web service that return complex type
i.e.
//////////////// class that i need to create a web service from it ///////////////////////
public calss webService {
public Subscriber getSubscriber(){
return new Subscriber();
public int getID(){
return 10;
where Subscriber is a java object i have create.
public class Subscriber implements Serializable {
private String name;
public String getName(){
return "Name";
when creating the web service, the getSubscriber method was not published but the getID is published.
any idea of how to make a web service that return a complex type....... i n

As per the 10.1.3 Preview Relase Notes :
Working with OC4J 10.1.2 : By default, JDeveloper 10.1.3 works with OC4J 10.1.3. However due to bug 3989799 it cannotconnect to OC4J 10.1.2 in the same session. Testing a connection or expanding a connection will fail with an exception. Additionally, deployment will succeed, but JDeveloper will be unable to detect and report the port number needed to access any deployed web applications via HTTP. You can enable 10.1.2 support by uncommenting the line: # AddVMOption -Drmi.disablePropagation=true in the jdev.conf file (located in jdev\bin) by removing the initial '#' character and restarting JDeveloper. Note, however, that enabling this setting will prevent JDeveloper from connecting to OC4J 10.1.3 instances, including the OC4J installation provided with JDeveloper. Comment the line then restart to restore 10.1.3 connectivity.
Hope this helps.. Sunil..

• SMS Web Services Using ADF BC

We would like to implement SMS web services using ADF BC. Could u please help us to point us to the right path to start this. The SMS web services will send the logs, errors or exception generated by Oracle ADF based application to mobile phones. The recipient of this is an IT administrator or those who will maintain the application.
Aside from the software architecture, what are necessary technical implementation or hardware infrastructure needed to implement this? Is the Oracle wireless already integrated with the Oracle 10g AS?

Are you already familiar with ADF BC and just trying to implement a web service with it?
I'm not familiar with what special facility an "SMS Web Service" would need. If you can implement it as a simple java class, you can implement it as a simple java class that uses ADF Business Components for sure.
