Special Characters Validations

Hi, I need to write a validation that will give an error when user enters any funny characters e.g @, $ and about 300 more since we have multiple langueu2019s.
Currently I have the following working validation;
HAS_ANY_CHAR(Field Name,"@","$")=False
What I want to know is if there are an easier way to achieve my goal of blacking the non valid characters we identified?
Any help will be appreciated.

In data manager in match mode
In Trasformation tab we remove special characters using TOKENS
right click transfermation pane create name like "remove -"
ex: AB-PQR-D, we don't want to "-" replace to ABPQRD
Under TOKENS:
FROM TO
"-" keep emty place
In RULE tab give for FIELD: whatever name given in transformation: "remove -"
In strategies pane will give rule name.
select the duplicate records in record pane, right click press match tab, select the check box
go to merge tab merge the records.
OUTPUT: ABPQRD and merge the others into one record.

The validation script could be similar to:

The constructor will look like

The only thing missing here is the compulsory forward-slash at the end of the string, but if that is important then you could alway script that into the value of the text field. For further info regarding regular expressions goto http://regexlib.com.

Validating text field based on the combination of alphabets and special characters

Hi Everyone,
I am Using Oracle Apex 4.2 Version . I want to do validation for a textbox where it should accept all alphabets,numbers and special characters (abc12#$ , zbc, 123, nd12, 23_6!, @%77).
But it should NOT accept all special characters only.(@#$#!)

DRM validation to restrict special characters

Hi can you please help.
We are not supposed to use these special characters in DRM node name or description.
dont allow the entry of special character in node names like @,#,$,%,^,&,*,+,-,{}.
and also use of words like ALL,AND,ASSIGN,CALC,AVERAGE,EXCEPT.
How can we restrict this.

Time-dependent Vendor Master & Handling Special Characters

I need to extract time-dependent Vendor Master.
1. The data source for <b>0VENDOR</b> does not have fields to hold the valid date range.
2. Does the Master data in R/3 for Vendors will hold the valid date range?
3. The text for <b>0VENDOR</b> provides time-dependent, but how to map the <b>valid from</b> and <b>valid to</b> fields?
Handling Special Characters:
We are trying to extract data from Legacy system via DB Connect. The item text field consists of special characters. Of course in BW customization we can specify all the special characters to consider. But the special character we observed is 'square' symbol i.e. 'new line character' in Oracle. We are updating this to an ODS object. When looked at error log, observed that green light for the number of records transferred and updated, but finally when it load into ODS object and activates popping up the error message saying 'could not recognize special character'.
Please help me getting the 2 issues resolved.

Unable to call report from jsp - password contains special characters

I used the following url to call my oracle report from my JSP webpage but got the error mentioned below. It seems that this error occurs when i use the login id with password that contains special characters only. How can I overcome this problem?

Many of the customers are located in hungary and they have created the userid using their keyboard. Hence for now I already have a userid with that hungarian characters, in the SAP system.
Only I would request for the help on how to interface these characters in SAP Business connector to call RFC.

Special characters in XML structure when prepared using String

Hi,
   I am preparing an XML structure using 'String'. I print the prepared XML structure in the server log. Issue is that I am seeing extra characters([[ and ]]) that I am not printing.
Please let me know how to get rid of those.

This issue is observed only while running the code in server, not from Jdev.
When we append the additional tags without new line character, "\n", there are no extra characters being added. Also, in other case also. where we used "Marshaller" to prepare the XML, we have seen this issue.
After we set the below property to false, we got rid of the extra characters.
                        jaxbMarshaller.setProperty(Marshaller.JAXB_FORMATTED_OUTPUT, false);
Apparently the insertion of new line when the code runs on server(Weblogic 10.3.6.0) is creating the issue.
Please let me know if anyone has come across a similar scenario.

For a example: when the string (I know "cool" java) gets loaded into a attribute using the DOM object then wrote back out it looks like (I know &xxx;cool&xxx; java) if you view the source in your browser. This is what it should do, but the DOM object is not change the � to the "&xxxxx;". This servlet is acting as a gateway between a Java API and a windows asp. The asp will call the servlet expecting to get XML back and load it directly into a DOM object. When the windows DOM object gets the xml that I am returning in this servlet is throws a exception "invalid character" because the � was not translated to &xxxx; like the other characters were. According to the book HTML 4 in 24 hours (and other references) the eacute; or #233; are how you say "�" in HTML or XML. How do you say it?

Special Characters in the file name in Data Driven Subscription via File Share

Hi,
I am trying to create a Data Driven Subscription with option to delivery as windows file share in SQL server 2005. I need to save the report as a pdf with the following file name '[City] City_Name', but it errors out and it is because of the
Square Brackets. Is there any way i can save the file using the Square brackets as i mentioned above.
I am using a query to get the filename and filepath. It works fine as long as i do not have [], but i need to save the file as i mentioned along with the Square Brackets.

I can reproduce the issue on my test environment: When I create a Data Driven Subscription and specify the report name by get from a subscription delivery table, and the value of the "report name" column contains square brackets. The subscription failed
with following error in the error log:

It seems that the behavior is by design. please avoid using square brackets as file name. Maybe you can try to use parentheses () instead.

Problems with using special characters in Interactive Report Search

Hi!
I am currently developing an Application on Application Express 3.1.2.00.02 including a page with an Interactive Report, facing the problem that I cannot use special german characters in the Searchbar.
So if i try to find a name like 'Schröder' the created Filter looks like this 'SchrÃ¶der' and i won't get any valid search results. By the way the rest of the application supports these special characters like using them in Buttons or any other Page elements.
Does anyone have a clue how to fix this problem, because it's driving me nuts ;)

RegExp for excluding special characters in a string.

Im using Flex RegExpValidator. Can anyone suggest me the correct expression to validate this condition?....
I have tried this expression :----- /^[^///\/</>/?/*&]+$/...But in this it is also negating the alphabets.Also I have tried with opposite condition that in the String we should have alphabets and the expression is:-- ([a-z]|[A-Z]|[0-9]|[ ]|[-]|[_])*..... Please can anyone help me on this.

Special characters in XML built using the DOM object

I am using the DOM object to build xml but I am having problems with special characters. I have a Element object that I create attributes in. Most special characters like the &, ", or ' are translated for me (amp; quot;, acute; put a & in front of those, if I do it here the browser will translate them into the logical character) but I am having a problem with the � character. The DOM object does not translate this. If I do it my self to(eacute; same here add a & in front) before adding the string to the attribute then the DOM object translates it to (amp;eacute; add a & in front of the amp; not in front of the eacute;). As you can see the DOM object translates the & instead of recognizing that it is a HTML character. Can anyone give me a hand?

Problems with Special Characters on Exchange Email

Hello:
People I have a issue with our Corporate Email on my Iphone. We use Exchange 2003 and we have users with special characters on his emails address.
I receive fine the email, just appear a errors on the display name. The issue is when I try to reply thie email. A error message popup said:
Invalid Address
"email with special characters" does not appear to be a valid email address. Do you want to send it anyway?
If I press Yes, Iphone try to send the message But I receive another error message:
Cannot send Mail
An error ocurred while delivering this message.
Any Help or Idea?

When I Said "we have users with special characters on his emails address" its mean users with ñ,ó, ú, Ñ on his emails address.
When I said "just appear a errors on the display name" I mean characters like ÂÃ±¡

Prevent using special characters in file and folder names?

I've recently begun adding windows clients to my network. In doing so, I've found that on my file shares from OS X server, the windows clients are unable to see files and folders which have names containing special characters such as / ? < > \ : * | ”
Unfortunately my accounting department has been creating files with these characters in their names for several years. I would like to find if there is a way to prevent them from using a defined set of characters in the file and folder names to prevent them from "accidentally" doing so in the future.
I've found that by turning off streams support on SMB in OS X server, that my windows clients can at least see that a file or folder should exist, albeit with a corrupted file name. Removing the special characters from these names allows the proper name to become visible and the file accessible.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

and pass it in a url query string. But my issue is not
with an url query string, it's with an actual URL, that is,
the actual name of the directory. It
can't be "ça alors: it's a déjà-vu". But I

if they want. So I need a way to encode this into characters
that can be used for an actual

Problem with special characters when calling web services via ISG

Hi all,
I have a problem when trying to send or retrieve strings containing some special characters via Integrated SOA Gateway.
For example, when I call a PL/SQL function via ISG that returns a string containing curling single and double quote characters, these are not represented by valid XML character entity references. So when trying to open the response XML (returned by ISG) in a browser, I get a parser error...
Has anybody had a similar experience with ISG? How can I resolve that - is it an ISG bug?

Preserving XML "special" characters in output

I've got a valid XML document that may contain special characters, such as ampersands. These characters are properly escaped in the document (i.e., + is represented as amp; ). When I parse this document (using either the Java V2 parser or the PL/SQL parser) and then retrieve the values from a DOM using getNodeValue, I get the un-escaped version () and I need the escaped version (+amp;) so that I can store it in a database and load it back into a DOM at a later date.
What am I missing here? Is there a property on the parser/DOM that I can set so that the characters are not translated on output.

Note: I've used + in the above example instead of the ampersand character because of the vagaries of my browser, but the character in the XML document is a proper ampersand!

The DOM is not required to escape the characters, so it is correct that you get the literal ampersand characters when you ask the DOM for a getNodeValue().
When an XML document is serialized -- using, for example, the XMLDocument.print() method -- it is when this external form of the document is produced that escaping occurs.
You can always call XMLNode.print() to serialize the value of a node and it's children into a PrintWriter that wraps a StringWriter to get the string equivalent of the properly escaped values.
