Special sound when emails arrives on a particular account/mailbox

Hi,
I have a email account where I'm receiving URGENT alarms.
So, I'd need two things :
1) To check this IMAP box more frequently than every 15mins
2) I need to change the alarm-sound for this particular box
Could somebody here suggest these type of things to developpers ?

Ok, so, something in way of an update: Normal behaviour appears to be restored after Mail detects a piece of junk mail and puts it in the junk folder for this account (manual marking of junk doesn't do the trick). Then it works ok until I quit Mail.

How do I get my iphone 5 to make a discrete sound when an email arrives when I am listening to music with earphones? At the moment it vibrates but that is not always enough when it is in my coat pocket.

  • When emails arrive they arrive as email addresses and not names

When emails arrive they arrive as email addresses and not names from my contact list.
    What gives?
    Thanks

ok well I think I can confirm your theory by the fact that the few names that do show up are from PCs (where people's names are always entered in).
Generally, most people enter their name in the Name field for their email account settings with the email client used on their computer, but not always. This is entirely up to the sender and is not required.
90% of everyone else on my contact list is using mobile phones where names are not used like they are on PCs or smart phones.
The very same applies to the email client used on a cell phone. I can remove my first and last name from the Name field for my email account settings, or I can enter Allan or ALLAN only and if I use ALL CAPS for my first name or for my first and last name, the name I've entered in the Name field will appear in ALL CAPS when the email is received. If I remove my name from the name field, my email address will appear only with all sent messages.
This must mean that you too must have a lot of no name emails coming in right?
Nope, because the overwhelming majority of people that send me email have their name entered in the Name field for their email account settings with the email client used on their computer for accessing the account and with the email client on their smart phone.

When trying to update my Mail Account Mailbox Behaviours settings, after making the changes when I try to close the settings pane the following messages occur: Invalid Incoming Mail Server The “Incoming Mail Server” field cannot be empty. The incoming mail server box has in light grey colour: p02-imap.mail.me.com in it and I cannot edit its content. Any ideas what is going on and how to fix it?

    Hi all,
Mattreichenbach is probably on the right track here with a reset of settings.  I think I've determined the issue has to do with cached account information and inconsistencies for the account name.  This seems to crop up when I've changed my password and it hasn't propagated fully to all the servers, devices, certificates, etc.
Hopefully many here are on their way to restoration of service by now but it's clear that a lot of people are having the same issues.  Very frustrating and definitely something Apple needs to resolve:  incoming mail server field grayed out, incorrect autopopulation of different fields, other unanticipated behaviors.  If you're still having issues, though, here's what worked for me...
First, head to the iCloud preferences pane in System Configuration and choose "Sign Out".  When I did this it prompted me with a number of "are you sure" type questions about retaining information on my local machine.  I chose to delete/remove the info each time simply because it should all be restored by the cloud and I didn't want to risk a massive duplication of my data... I will say, I'm back up and running with no issues so I suspect you can make the same delete/remove choices...  But use your own judgment.  I don't want you to lose any data (ie.. please use care as you do this because I cannot bear the thought of causing anyone to experience the pain of data loss).
Once you've signed out of iCloud, restart your system.  When you get back in, head to the Mail, Contacts and Calendars section of your System Preferences and add your account back by choosing the brushed aluminum "iCloud" button.  When it asks for your account name, use your @iCloud.com email address.  I am all but certain my issue had started because one of my devices (iPhone or whatever) had been set up with an email alias specified instead of my @iCloud.com address.
Apple, if you're reading through any of these issues (there are TONS of users having this same problem).  Take note, that your icloud service somewhat frequently is not responding and yet tells the user that the password is wrong and this prompts people to be changing their passwords unnecessarily.  This has happened to me on numerous occasions.  Also, I noticed that last week's outage corresponded to a VERY similar outage exactly one year ago to the day.  Sounds like planned maintenance to me and I think you could do a better job notifying folks so we're not wasting HUGE amounts of time troubleshooting a problem that we have no hope of fixing.
Hope that helps some of you!

  • Sound when mail arrives?

When push mail arrives, a dialog pops up telling me mail arrived with a dismiss button. But there is no sound alert.
In Settings > Sounds > Ring the "New Mail" toggle is ON.
Is there anything else I need to do?
    Thanks,
    doug

I get a ding when new mail arrives and I'm already in Mail - and that is easy to hear.
I meant getting a sound alert when the popup "you have mail" dialog appears when you are outside of mail.
You are correct that Gmail doesn't appear to push. What was happening is that Mail on the iPhone automatically checks for new mail when you enter mail. Since I manually check for email on my Mac, I was confusing that behavior for push.
However, the Email(i) account received from my cell phone provider, Softbank here in Japan (the [email protected] that I mentioned in another thread) does push an alert about newly arrived mail and that is the popup dialog I was seeing.
But that message, unfortunately, apparently has no sound alert associated with it.

  • Outlook email shows open when email arrives at BlackBerry

I am using BlackBerry Internet Service (not the Enterprise service) and synching with Outlook.  When I receive an email in Outlook, it comes in regularly and sits in my inbox unopened.  However exactly when the email hits the BB, and I get notified that an email has arrived to that account, the email in Outlook indicates that it has been opened (when in fact it has not been).  It does NOT show opened on the BB however, only in Outlook.
I have another email account with Verizon and that works correctly. It stays unopened until I look at it either on the BB or the Desktop.

  • Since the iOS 7 update, some apps no longer have sound, even of configured to do so. Example, no longer does my FaceTime ring even if I have a tone set; my email app doesn't make a sound when email comes in or goes out. Help!

Ever since I updated to ios7, sounds from specific apps has disappeared, even if configured correctly to make sounds. My mail doesn't sound off anymore when mail comes in or goes out. My FaceTime no longer rings when someone calls me. My map app no longer gives me voice instructions like it did before. If someone messages me I do not hear sounds anymore. I find it very annoying especially because I have family abroad and FaceTime is an important means of communication. I reset it by pressing the sleep and home button and all, nothing happened.
Can someone help understand how to resolve this problem.
    Thank you so very much.

    (A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Make sure sound is not muted in Control Center; tap on the little bell. Swipe upwards from bottom of screen to launch Control Center

  • Mail App Doesn't Keep Copies of Email Sent via One Particular Account?

I have several accounts set up in Mail app.  For one account, I can send and receive email, but copies of the email do not appear in my Sent folder, or in any other folder in Mail app. It is as if they were never sent. All other accounts are functionning normally.
    How can I correct this?

All four of our iPhone pilot users have experienced this problem at some time. From what I've been able to determine so far:
+ It seems to happen when there's a slightly shaky data connection - we've never seen it on a WiFi connection, or where the phone is stationary with good signal. It frequently happens to me when I'm sending mails on a moving train.
+ Once a message has come back with the "Failed to send" error, the iPhone will keep retrying, but will invariably fail even if it's got perfect GPRS/EDGE/3G signal. The thing is, even though you've been told there was an error, the message has actually been sent already - but it sticks in the Outbox and keeps trying as though it hasn't. It's not until the phone either docks or gets back onto a WiFi network that the message sends one more time and the problem clears.
+ It feels like a problem in the processing of the ActiveSync "OK" acknowledgement during sending - something gets out of line in the iPhone, maybe it misses the ACK because of poor data signal, but then it's stuck.
+ There's no obvious connection to firmware version. We've seen this on everything from 2.0 up to 2.1.
This is a real problem - and it's absolutely stopping us from letting any "real" users use iPhones through Exchange. Does anyone else have any ideas or suggestions?
Apple? Any new firmware forthcoming to fix this bug?
    Thanks.

  • How do I get Firefox to signal me when a new email arrives?

Is there a speaker toggle on-off switch somewhere that I can turn to have Firefox alert me to new emails when they come in?

You can try the WebMail Notifier add-on which can inform you when email arrives in web based email accounts - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/webmail-notifier/

  • Changing the SOUND of Email

I know this is dumb...here it goes. I have iPhone 4.0. Love it. However, when my email arrives, it makes this lame noise. When I had 3.0 it was a like a ping and I could hear it much better and knew immediately I have email. I went to settings for email and it seems to have an on/off switch and that is it. Can somewhere steer me to the path that would like me pick which sound I want to hear when email arrives? THX! Maud

There is no option to change the sound for anything other than SMS (limited selection) or for calls (ringtones).

  • How do I get sounds back? I don't know when an email arrives and my apps with songs don't work

How do I get my sounds back? My apps with songs don't work and I don't know when a message or email arrives.
    Thanks

Is it on mute? There is a switch on the side which may be mute or rotation lock. If it locks the rotation, double tap the home button and swipe your finger to the right. You should see volume, brightness, etc... On the far left is a button to mute or lock rotation. Make sure it is not on. If you still can't hear anything, go to settings> general> sounds> ringer and alerts and slide the dot to the right.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I get sound notification when an email arrives.

When MSN messenger got taken away, I lost the sound I would get when an email arrived in my inbox. How do I get a sound now?

Sorry, I don't know anything about hotmail and it's not one of the webmail programs that you can set up to open email links in Firefox (ref: [[Change the program used to open email links]]). It looks like you are asking about something unrelated to Mozilla.
I did a google search and found this, which seems to indicate that you must be using Windows Live Mail with hotmail to get a notification sound:

  • How do i set up my iPhone to chime when a new email arrives? right now, the chime only works after I tap the mail icon

How do I set up my 4S phone to chime when a new email arrives?  Right now, the chime only sounds after I tap the mail icon.  I need an alert to check my mail.  Comcast mail.  Settings for mail set at "fetch new data". Thank you

Try if this works for you
    1. Tap Settings on Home Screen
    2. Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    3. Tap on Fetch New Data
    4. Turn "Push" to On
    5. Back to Mail, Contacts, Calendars again
    6. Under "Advanced", make sure that it is set to "Push" for all your mail accounts
Push means the server will literally push the mails to your iPhone whenever there is new mail. Fetch like the word says is where you have to manually update to receive new mail (what you are doing now)
