Specials characters in subject mail

Hello,
We created a procedure in Oracle to send html mails.
All is allright in the body, the only problem is in the subject : we can't have characters like "é è à"...
Our database is Oracle 9i.. so we don't have the UTL_ENCODE.MIMEHEADER_DECODE function :(
Somebody has an idea?
Regards,
yannick

Hi Joeri,
How do you handover the data, via HTTP call?
As internal B1i processes always use UTF-8 encoding, please try to hand-over the data in UTF-8 encoding.
Best regards
Bastian

  • Special characters change in e-mail body

    When I receive e-mail with ISO 8859-2 charset the special characters (áéőüú etc.) change into something more weird, unreadable characters (ĂĄ). However, mail preview lines show them correctly. I use English language for the phone (as Hungarian is not available), keyboard is Hungarian.
    Anybody facing the same problem? Any solution?

    If you set the document to be a HTML type, then you can use HTML scripting to set
    the font.
    Create send request
       send_request = cl_bcs=>create_persistent( ).
    Create html content:
        mail_line = '.mail TBODY,{font-family:verdana;font-size:10pt;}'.
        append mail_line TO mail_text.
        ... (your text)
    Create document with type 'HTM' and provide your HTML scripting
          document = cl_document_bcs=>create_document( i_type    = 'HTM'
                                                       i_text    = mail_text
                                                       i_subject = 'Subject' ).
    Add document to send request
          CALL METHOD send_request->set_document( document ).
    Send document
          CALL METHOD send_request->send( ).

  • Mail message sent from PI comes with weird characters at Subject

    Hi folks,
    I've a Scenario where I must send a e-mail with some process data. To do that, I'm using emial Package to build the email Message.
    The email Package XML Looks like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <ns:email xmlns:ns="http://sap.com/xi/XI/emial/30">
    <Subject>HEY THIS IS JUST A LONG PLACEHOLDER SUBJECT TO HELP ME TO FIND OUT THE ISSUE OF MY MESSAGE</Subject>
    <From>sender</From>
    <To>rcpt</To>
    <Content_Type>multipart/mixed; boundary="--JrSnBoUnDaRy"</Content_Type><Content>----JrSnBoUnDaRy
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
    Content-Disposition: inline
    Lorem Ipsum Dolor Sit ...
    </Content></ns:email>
    When the message arrives at my emialbox, the SUBJECT looks like this:
    "HEY THIS IS JUST A LONG PLACEHOLDER SUBJECT TO HELP ME TO FIND OUT THE I SSUE OF MY emial MESSAGE"
    Instead of:
    "HEY THIS IS JUST A LONG PLACEHOLDER SUBJECT TO HELP ME TO FIND OUT THE ISSUE OF MY emial MESSAGE"
    As you can see, there`s a "space" between the I and SSUE word. Looking closer at a Hex Editor I can see that I'm dealing with two special characters, first one LF (0xA) and later a TAB(0x9).
    Doing some test I've found out that it just happens at the 72th position of the Subject string.
    Is there any limitation for email fields while using email Package or Receiver email Adapter?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi José,
    SMTP has a line length limit and any long header line needs to be split in multiple lines, where each subsequent line must start with a single TAB.
    It is strange that your mail client couldn't decode these multiple lines back to the original single line.
    It might be that the mail adapter did not split the original line into valid multiple lines.
    TCPGateway attached in the SOAP adapter note can capture the SMTP traffic and save it into a binary file.
    You can check if the mail adapter correctly did the splitting.
    This is not directly related to your issue. But you should avoid using the mail package if you have some format sensitive content. XML parsing inevitably changes the original physical representation (refer to whitespace handling in the XML specification). The issue can be avoided if the base64 encoding option is used within the content encoding. But you should switch to the adapter specific message attributes (ASMA) approach if you are configuring a new scenario.
    Best regards, Yza

  • Mail, can't send, can't type special characters

    I can't send mail but I can recieve mail. I can't reply to email. When opening a new mail I can add the address and subject line but when I type in the body of the email I start typing and as soon as I hit the space bar or any special characters it freezes up and I can't do anything. I've rebuilt the the mailbox, I've checked my quotas and they are fine. I can also get on the internet. This happened to me before but forgot what the problem was. The other day I updated to the latest OS X but everything was ok till yesterday when I took my laptop to our other location where I'm wireless through a cable modem. I have the same connection at both locations. I am using Mac Mail version 2.0.5 This is driving me crazy that I can't find an answer. Please, can anyone out there help me, I sure would appreciate it.

  • Mail.app hang if mail attachment have special characters in file name

    Hello,
    I have upgraded to 10.5.1 from last version of Tiger.
    After upgrade is not possible send message with attachment which have a czech special characters in file name (like á, í, é, ý, ú, ů, ě, š, č, ř, ž) with Mail.app. If I try it, CPU is overloaded and I must kill Mail.app process.
    The same problem have my friends who are running a clear installation of Leopard 10.5.1.
    Thanks for correction.

    I have the same problem with Hungarian chars. I tried out Tomas suggestion and it really worked. It is so dissaponting to have this kind of bug in a system like this. They never tested against this situation.
    I hope somebody at apple read this discussion and somehow this will be fixed in the near future.

  • Allowing Special Characters in email subject

    Hi All,

    Is there any way by which i can send any special character in emails without any problem..This is an urgent requirement

    Thanks for the reply..
    I have a text box in jsp where by the user can enter values for the suject..So in servlet, the values enterd in text box will be the subject of the corresponding email.. ANd also am not using any unicode..the subject comes as a string and then i encode the values..You might want to brush up on what strings are and what unicode means. Inside Java strings are unicode. But if you are sending/receiving the data in unicode through the JSP / servlet depends on the encoding set on the JSP page. If you are not receiving unicode data, you are already missing those 'special' characters before even sending the email.

  • Mail unformatted - no special characters

    Hi, There are some emails were on the preview I can see all special characters in the preview. As soon as I open the message it turns to a bunch of other simbols and it's very hard to make any sense of it. Since I speak portuguese there are some special characters we use while writing.
    My iPhone is set to English language, keyboard is Portuguese Brazil and Region format is also Portuguese Brazil.
    I'm using gmail account set as Exchange.
    Any ideas on how to solve it ?
    Thanks

    You should contact your hosting provider. It sounds like the web server is not properly configured to serve UTF-8 encoded HTML files.
    You can publish to a free trial site on Adobe Business Catalyst to confirm that a web server properly configured to serve UTF-8 encoded Unicode HTML files properly serves up all the characters on your site.

  • Problem with Special characters(Russian) using DynamicConfiguration

    Hi,
    I have a mail-RFC scenario where I am using adapter-specific message attributes and DynamicConfiguration to retrieve mail subject.It works fine.
    We have a problem when the subject contains Russian special characters.In this case,whole mail subject gets converted into an irrelevant string.
    Can anyone please suggest how to handle special characters in DynamicConfiguration using ASMA .
    Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

    Your UDF could be something like this:
    String output = null;
    String strs[] = input.split("\\?");
    String charset = strs[1];
    String encoding = null;
    switch (strs[2].charAt(0)) {
         case 'Q' :
              encoding = "quoted-printable";
              break;
         case 'B' :
              encoding = "base64";
              break;
         default :
              break;
    String subject = strs[3];
    try {
         InputStream is = new ByteArrayInputStream(subject.getBytes());
         InputStream dis = MimeUtility.decode(is, encoding);
         ByteArrayOutputStream out = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
         byte[] b = new byte[4096];
         for (int n;(n = dis.read(b)) != -1;) {
              out.write(b, 0, n);
         output = out.toString(charset);
    } catch (Exception e) {
         //implement catch...
    return output;
    where input is the input string.
    For test purposes, use
    String input = "=?KOI8-R?B?Rnc6IDEwMjEwMTMwLzA1MTEwNi/wMDE3NDkzLw==?=";
    or
    String input = "=?utf-8?Q?Auftragsbest=C3=A4tigung?=";

  • Special Characters within Email Addresses

    I am trying to send e-mails via JavaMail that contain French characters. I have no problem setting the subject and body as ISO-8859-1 compliant.
    However, there are several e-mails in the distribution list that contain special characters within the actual email (i.e. test@tst.com). When I try to send it, I get the following error:
    javax.mail.SendFailedException: Sending failed;
      nested exception is:
            javax.mail.SendFailedException: Message partially delivered;
      nested exception is:
            javax.mail.SendFailedException: 501 badly formatted RCPT TO user <test@9
      nested exception is:
            javax.mail.SendFailedException: 501 badly formatted RCPT TO user <test@9
            at javax.mail.Transport.send0(Transport.java:219)Are there ways around this or could this be a limitation of my smtp server? If you anyone can share some info or point me towards the appropriate resources, it will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I'm pretty sure you can't put special characters in a domain name (i.e tst.com). However, that begs the question of whether it is valid in the user name portion of the email address (i.e. t[email protected]). I don't know for sure.
    Maybe URL encoding or Mime encoding may do something, but this is just a guess.

  • E72: Swedish and other special characters not work...

    When I send mail through MfE, swedish and other special characters do not reach the recipient, they are just ignored. No blanks or nothing. Every word with a swedish character ends up one letter short.
    Before the firmware upgrade this was intermittent, happening only on about half of my mails.
    Now I upgraded yesterday, and it seems the problem is now permanent.
    Have seen similar posts from E75 and E90 owners, their problems seem to have been fixed by newer firmware.
    Our setup is: Exchange 2003, Portwise authentication.
    All other phone models work fine, like iPhone, E71 etc.
    /Sebastian

    After some testing I found out that if I use swedish chars in the subject line, it works fine. Even in the mail body.
    If I don't use swedish chars in the subject, they won't work in the body. I either get garbage or nothing where the swedish chars should be.
    The problem doesn't exist at all in my private IMAP mail account.
    Could someone who uses Mail for Exchange and have special chars in their alphabet (swedish, finnish, german, hungarian etc) pls tell me how it's working out for you?

  • Html special characters

    when using the Dreamweaver 'Set Text of Layer' behavior,
    Dreamweaver correctly converts all html
    special characters, such as accents like and &,
    and quotes and double quotes, so that it is safe
    as a javascript string, and will display properly.
    I am trying to figure out what PHP function can do the same
    encoding, to simple text files (textEdit
    on the Mac).
    I have tried htmlentities(), but it does not work, accented
    letters like just desappear from the
    string.
    I have tried htmlspecialchars() and it does not work
    either...
    I have tried about 10 others functions found on Google but
    nothing works.
    Anybody knows what exact function Dreamweaver uses to do this
    conversion?

  • How can I distinguish special characters or signs in Doc through VBA?

    How can I distinguish special characters or signs in Doc through VBA?
    I have a few large documents written in word 2003 format and now I work on them under word 2007.
    Such large documents containing lots of special characters.  I want to change them into Microsoft 3.0 equation form(It is required by the team). I find no way but using function AddOLEObject and  Sendkeys through VBA. Common characters can be added
    to equation by function Sendkeys, but the return value of Asc() or AscW() for "double arrow", "in" , " not greater than " such special characters or signs, to name but a few are the same ,i.e., 40 And I cannot distinguish them.
    I found the link http://msdn.itags.org/word/44333/ may be of use to me, and the title is:
    How to read symbols from a DOC documents! (Microsoft Word)
     the original question is
    Using function "InsertSymbol", I can insert a symbol into a document. But
    how can I read a symbol from a document?
    Using "Characters(i).range.text", I can read a char. But when meeting a
    symbol, the value of "Characters(i).range.text" is always '('.How can I get the CharacterNumber of the symbol.
    And the final answer is :
    Hi chenfeng,
    Word protects symbols from symbol fonts if you insert them from the "Insert
    > Symbol" dialog.
    This is done so they aren't changed when you change the font or style. But
    it also results in Word reporting AscW( ) = 40 on all of them.
    I've posted a macro to "unprotect" them (or to protect them again if you
    want) ... just today again in

  • How to Handle Special Characters in PI7.1

    Hi Team,
    I need to handle some special characters like <,>,& etc.. from WS Adapter to CRM in PI 7.1.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/9420 [original link is broken]
    By using the above blog i had implemented the Java Code as
    public void execute(InputStream in, OutputStream out){
    try{
    int read_data;
    while((read_data = in.read()) != -1){
    if (read_data == '&'){
    out.write("&amp;".getBytes());
    }else if (read_data == '>'){
    out.write("&gt;".getBytes());
    }else if (read_data == '<'){
    out.write("&lt;".getBytes());
    }else if (read_data == '/'){
    out.write("&frasl;".getBytes());
    }else if (read_data == '\''){
    out.write("&apos;".getBytes());
    else { out.write(read_data);
    out.flush();
    } catch (Exception e){}
    I had added this class file in Operational Mapping.
    It is working  if we have only one IF condition for & in while
    Any suggestion
    Thanks
    Sriram

    Hi Ramesh,
    Thanks for your inputs, I have tried your code but it is not working. The error message stays the same.
    Dear Stephane,
    To describe the error more, the requirement is the payload coming from source through WS Adapter consists of the special characters <, > , & which are basic sematics of XML syntax. I need PI to process this payload with special characters and successfully transfer it to target CRM system. I have created the Java class with code (ref: Blog 9420) as stated earlier and added this class to my existing Operation Mapping. I am expecting the java mapping to replace the special characters in payload like  < with "&gt;" . So as the case with the other characters >,&,'
    After activaton of my operation mapping, I triggered the test message with Soap UI client and I could able to get a successful mapping only When I put the logic for &ampersand symbol only. However when I am trying to add the logic for > or < or ' the mapping is failing . I am using UTF-8 encoding across the source and PI enviroments.
