Specific website becomes inaccessible at certain times

I have a client (Client A) that at certain times of the day users cannot access a specific website. Most of the time the site is accessible however a few times a week for an unknown amount of time the page becomes inaccessible on Client A’s network. The
site is hosted by godaddy.com I believe but I think the issue is internal. We have an SBS 2011 Essentials Server running DNS and it seems to be running fine. I checked the DNS logs and it doesn’t show errors.
In the same building I have another client (Client B) on a separate network (Firewall, DNS, etc…) and when Client A cannot access this site I can access it just fine from Client B’s network. The first thing I checked to see what DNS forwarders are being
used on Client B’s side and to my surprise they are both using the exact same DNS forwarders (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220).  To troubleshoot furthermore I had a remote session into a server on Client A’s side and another session into
a server on Client B’s side. I then ran tracert’s and pings to the website from each server and they both returned the same values. I do don’t know what to try next, any suggestions?

Without some data it is pretty much impossible to troubleshoot.
I would try a telnet session to port 80 in order to determine if the "page cannot be displayed" is purely a connection problem or not. Try telnet with the host name and if that times out try it with the IP address.
You probably know this, but when the connection works the screen will go blank. You can enter ^] to break out of some sessions but others you will have to wait for a time out and you'll see some HTML (example below).
PS C:\> telnet example.com 80
- screen goes blank until you break out using ^]
HTTP/1.0 400 Bad Request
Connection: close
Date: Wed, 30 Jul 2014 04:20:45 GMT
Server: ECSF (rhv/81A7)
Connection to host lost.
On the other hand if it cannot connect you get:
PS C:\> telnet mail.example.com 80
Connecting To mail.example.com...Could not open connection to the host, on port 80: Connect failed
If the host doesn't resolve in DNS it will fail almost immediately. If the host exists but port 80 is not open it will take about 15 seconds to fail.
>>If you can connect with telnet but can't open the page then it is likely some kind of software problem. I would also test a different browser on the client and if that also fails then it is almost certainly an issue with the web server and the specific
client session.
You might also make sure to kill every instance of the web browser using task manager. Sometimes I've seen background zombie browser processes interfering with your active session.

  • Block Websites at Certain Times (Safari)

    Hey I need your help! I need a plug-in/add-on/application that will block certain websites I want at certain times. For example, block Youtube and Facebook from 4-6PM. Preferably these settings would be difficult or impossible to change once in place, haha. I want to be strict and not let myself procrastinate during the upcoming school year and I think this is the only way to actually do it. Pfft.
    Any ideas?
    I run Leopard and the latest version of Safari; Firefox works too I guess.

    HI,
    I doubt you are going to find a type of software that blocks certain sites at certain times.
    You could try using Parental Controls.

  • Certain websites will not load at certain times.

    Hi,
      for the last few weeks, I have been having difficulty with loading certain websites at certain times of the day.  The problem is affecting websites that I've been using for years, such as hotmail, Facebook, eBay, BBC Newsfeeds, Lego website, CBBC, to name a few.  It happens whether I use a bookmark, a hyperlink or whether I type it in, myself.  The page will start to load, then just hang,with the loading wheel spinning.  The page does not freeze and you can stop, go back, reload etc.  Sometimes, ebay or hotmail will load eventually, but there will be no, or only a few pictures and the website will consist of just a list of text headings where buttons and frames should be.
    The problem exists in Firefox (3.6.25) and in Safari and Internet Explorer (the latter two are fairly old versions.  Firefox is my default browser).  The problem is the worst around the local afternoon and seems to go away entirely at about 11 o'clock in the evening.  This is way in excess of local high volume times and other image and video heavy sites work fine during the outages.  Other secure (http) sites work during the outages, too.  This doesn't happen every day and appears both on weekdays and weekends.  When I have outages lasting several hours, I have looked on the wider web (Google always seems to work) and I can find no traffic suggesting that significant numbers of other users are having  problem.
    So far, I have done the following:
    cleared out cookies and the cache.
    reinstalled Firefox
    restarted the router
    carried out a virus scan using ClamXav
    disabled all security and blockers
    disabled all add-ons
    started Firefox in Safe Mode
    None of the above made any improvement.  Then, suddenly just before 11pm, everything started working, as per previous nights.
    This is very strange behaviour which is extremely annoying and disruptive.  Can anyone help, please?
    I'm using a G5 2.7 with OSX ver 10.4.11.  I have not changes the hardware and software seetting for many months (that I'm aware of) nor have I installed any new software (that I"m aware of).
    Yours Aye

    BDAqua,
      thanks but already done.  I've tried an old laptop and although it was loading the offending pages this evening, it was taking 20 mins to load each page.  I need to go to my ISP, I reckon.
      Yet again, all the relevant pages go down at around 1700 and then spring to life again at 2300.

  • Why does safari close every time I open a specific website

    When ever I open a specific website on safari,it closes and i have to reopen it.

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
    Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
    Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Safari (- or other browsers) won't load specific websites

    Hello folks,
    So here’s the deal: I can’t seem to load several specific websites. Some pages point-blank refuse to load, while others (like Facebook, Instagram, Google) work just fine or take a very long time to load (youtube vids buffer a lot). I’ve already tried several things, like flushing my DNS cache, adding google public DNS-servers (used: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), using different browsers (firefox nor safari works), making sure parental control is off and firewall is disabled, removing all my website data in Safari’s preferences, rebooting my router, resetting the wifi routers' time zone (someone else recommended this), restarting my wifi connection (which seems to have effect for like a second- though it’s loading very slowly- and then it goes back to refusing loading the page.) When using a proxy all pages load just fine.
    I also did run a ping-test for one of them:
    PING archiveofourown.org (208.85.241.152): 56 data bytes
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 2

    Request timeout for icmp_seq 8
    --- archiveofourown.org ping statistics ---
    10 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss
    Entering 208.85.241.152 in my browser didn’t do the trick either..
    Printscreen (just a blank page):
    I’m really lost and hope someone might help me. Thank you in advance!

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Cannot print specific websites to HP printers

    Trying to print a specific website http://www.desert-alchemy.com/info/article/decision-making/ to an HP LaserJet 400 M451 and LaserJet Pro 300 m375nw using iMac OS X 10.9.3, MacBook 10.9.3 and an older MacBook 10.6.8 in Safari, Chrome and Firefox.
    The printers simply stalls. The laserjet pro 300 reboots each time when getting the print command. The laserjet 400 doesn't do anything. LJ 400 says "printing" and "copying print data". I chat up HP Chat Tech support and they said, "We do not have Apple Tech Support Training. Please call M-F 10am - 7pm."
    I have an old 2100M and hooked it up to the 10.6.8 OSX running MacBook. 2100 printed the above websites footer and header, nothing else.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Hi,
    After waiting a couple days, maybe the problem would just magically resolve itself, tried again to print and same behavior:
    HP LaserJet 300 Pro reboots, Error Code 79 and nothing prints.
    We took out our Canon Pixma MP560, the one which makes a ton of noise, which prompted us to purchase the HP LaserJet in the first place, the Canon Pixma MP560 prints the above website in 6 seconds while the HP again, reboots.
    Isn't there anyone at HP that can answer why this website doesn't print? http://www.desert-alchemy.com/info/article/decision-making/
    Is there something in the driver I'm missing? Is there a radio button I'm not hitting? Why can't these 3 HP printers print this website but the Canon can?

  • Need some help in making a label disappear for certain time

    hi

    this is the question
    Design and implement a memory game. In this game you show the user a sequence of

    on how many numbers are there in the sequence. The duration of the display for the

  • Can't open a specific website with BT infinity

    Hello
    I got a massive problem with BT infinity (fibre to home service, BT HomeHub 5).
    To make a long story short:
    Internet normally works quick and fine (I get 70 Mbps download speed and 20 upload on average) BUT a specific website I use for job purposes doesn't work.
    This problem first arose when I upgraded from BT Broadband to Infinity last year; prior to that that website worked just fine.
    So you may be asking yourselves why I had waited one year to speak up: simple, because in the meantime I had managed to bypass the problem. To be more precise the website I am talking about has a numeric extension which I just deleted and things worked fine (EXAMPLE: www.iamnanogianni.com:123 , I just would type www.iamnanogianni.com and it worked) unfortunately this is not possible anymore and that extension has now to be typed in order to open the website.
    This won't just work for me.The page I try to load looks scrambled and after I type my username and password it just freezes.
    -I've checked the firewall (and also temporarily disabled it to see if that was the problem),
    -I have reset both the HomeHub 5 and the OpenReach modem,
    -I have utilised a old HomeHub3 modem (exactly same result),
    -I have called BT 100 times and they say that that particular website is not blocked. Sometimes they say it is a coincidence this is not working (!!!), some other times they just remain speachless, sometimes they genuinely try to help but to no avail sadly,
    -As soon as I disconnect from my router and connect to, say, BTfon WIFI then the website magically works  on my laptos. I am talking about a Mac and a Dell,
    -Last but not least an OpenReach engineer came to my place and left empty handed (ie he was not able to determine the problem).
    What would you do if you were me?
    Many thanks in advance for your help

    If you are using a web browser, then without the extension it will default to port 80. As you are using a non-standard port, which is actually reserved for the NTP service, you will need to use the port 123 extension.
    I cannot see how it could possible work without the extension, without some form of redirection.
    You need to move the webserver to port 80, and not port 123.
    There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

  • How do I run specific websites in Firefox if the website requires it be run in IE?

    I have certain websites that I must use. They will only run in IE. How can I run them without opening an IE window?

    Take a look at these two add-ons for running an IE-Tab in Firefox.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ie-tab-plus/<br />
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ie-tab-2-ff-36/
    Read the features of both and read the user comments of each, them select the one which looks to be the best for you.
    OR
    Use IE View to open a website in IE, which you are viewing in Firefox. This extensions allows you to open a website in IE manually, or you can set specific websites to always open in IE.

  • Mechanism that runs my application only at certain times of the day

    Hi,
    As my title suggests, i'm looking for some code that will allow me to run parts of my application only at a certain time in the day. More specifically, I want the code to run these parts of the application at 5pm only on weekdays.
    I've tried various different types of loops to do this, but can't find anyway to do it.
    Could somebody suggest a better way of doing it?
    Thanks in advance.
    Here is some example code of what I tried:
    public static void main(String[] args)
         // TIMER
         Calendar cal = new GregorianCalendar();
         // Get the components of the time
         int hour24 = cal.get(Calendar.HOUR_OF_DAY); // 0..23
         int min = cal.get(Calendar.MINUTE); // 0..59
         int today = cal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_WEEK);
         final int RUNH = 17;
         final int RUNM = 0;
         app start = new app(); //starts the application
         while (!((hour24 == RUNH) && (min == RUNM)) || (today ==1 ) || (today == 6))
              // do nothing
         if((hour24 == RUNH) && (min == RUNM) && ((today != 1) && (today != 7))) // 5:00 on a weekday
              System.out.println ("Update Running " + hour24 + " " + min + " " + today); //runs some sort of update on the application
    }

    Something like this will work:
    long now = System.currentTimeMillis();
    GregorianCalendar cal = new GregorianCalendar();
    cal.set(Calendar.HOUR,17);
    cal.set(Calendar.MINUTE,0);
    cal.set(Calendar.SECOND,0);
    int day = cal.get(Calendar.DAYOFWEEK);
    int yearday = cal.get(Calendar.DAYOFYEAR);
    cal.set(Calendar.DAYOFYEAR,yearday + (day == Calendar.FRIDAY)? 3 : 1))
    long next = cal.getTime() //don't know... maybe needs another getTime()?
    Thread.currentThread.sleep(next-now);

  • Flashplayer not working on one specific website

    Recently, flashplayer stopped showing embedded videos on a specific webpage.  Blank white space appears where the video should be.  I can right click on this white space and launch the FP settings program, but the embedded videos neither show nor play.  It is only one specific website--FP works on Youtube and (thus far) everywhere else I've tried it.  The specific webpage I'm experiencing the problem with does not show flash content in either Firefox and IE.
    I fear I've changed some setting for this specific page, but for the life of me, can't figure out what that setting might have been.  I've been through all the checklists on the Adobe site that I can find, but nothing seems to work.  Has anyone experienced anything similar?  And how did you solve the problem?
    Thanks?

    Sorry.
    I'm using Windows 7 (vers 6.1)
    Firefox 21.0
    IE 10.0.9200.16540  Update versions: 10.0.4 (KB2817183)
    Flashplayer vers is 11,7,700,202 (I've reinstalled it a couple of times today).
    the webpage is my own http://jagobcwrestlingart.blogspot.com/ .  There is an embedded video is the very latest entry (April 6).  The embedded videos do work for everyone else (I've tested it on a friend's computer myself).  Apparently I am the only one unable to view the embedded videos on my own site!

  • How to disable safari autofill for a specific website

    Hi!
    I'm using Safari 6.1 and would like to disable autofill for a specific website. I'm learning french on duolingo, and it involves typing phrases, and similar ones tend to come up. Now safari saves every phrase I write, and tries to autocomplete other ones, which is quite annoying since i can't write a shorter sentence without it being autocompleted to something wrong. I've figured out how to remove the site from autofill, but it keeps coming back every time I write something new, and I don't want to keep removing it. Can I permanently disable autofill (or autocomplete, or whatever it's called) for that specific website?
    Thank you!

    From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then the Privacy tab.
    Click:  Remove All Website Data
    Quit and relaunch Safari then try that website.
