Split column into multiple text and number columns

I'm trying to figure out how to split this column into multiple columns with power query. One column for the company name/person name, one for the address, one for the zip.  Some of the addresses have a three or four digit code before the address, which
I would like in its own column too.  It's the 170 on the lastname, firstname line.  Does anyone have any pointers on this? I'm familiar with PQ advanced editor, but struggling with this one.
COMPANY INC. 195 MAIN ST MYCITY ST 12345

Thanks for your help!

HI Gil,
We have column with more than one numbers separated by space or comma or semicolon.
We need to add the row for each number by keeping all other column value same.
Here is a original table
Col1
Col2
Col3
A
B
11 22,33 44; 55
C
D
10    20
and expected output should be
Col1
Col2
Col3
A
B
11
A
B
22
A
B
33
A
B
44
A
B
55
C
D
10
C
D
20

    How can I separate one column into multiple column?
    This is what I have:
    BUYER_ID ATTRIBUTE_NAME ATTRIBUTE_VALUE
    0001 PHONE_NUMBER 555-555-0001
    0001 EMAIL [email protected]
    0001 CURRENCY USD
    0002 PHONE_NUMBER 555-555-0002
    0002 EMAIL [email protected]
    0002 CURRENCY USD
    0003 PHONE_NUMBER 555-555-0003
    0003 EMAIL [email protected]
    0003 CURRENCY CAD
    This is what I would like to have:
    BUYER_ID PHONE_NUMBER EMAIL CURRENCY
    0001 555-555-0001 [email protected] USD
    0002 555-555-0002 [email protected] USD
    0003 555-555-0003 [email protected] CAD
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    This is another solution. Suppose your actual table's name is test(which has the redundant data). create a table like this:
    CREATE TABLE test2 (BUYER_ID number(10),PHONE_NUMBER varchar2(50),EMAIL varchar2(50),CURRENCY varchar2(50));
    then you will type this procedure:
    declare
    phone_number_v varchar2(50);
    EMAIL_v varchar2(50);
    CURRENCY_v varchar2(50);
    cursor my_test is select * from test;
    begin
    for my_test_curs in my_test loop
    select ATTRIBUTE_VALUE INTO phone_number_v from test
    where person_id=my_test_curs.person_id
    and attribute_name ='PHONE_NUMBER';
    select ATTRIBUTE_VALUE INTO EMAIL_v from test
    where person_id=my_test_curs.person_id
    and attribute_name ='EMAIL';
    select ATTRIBUTE_VALUE INTO CURRENCY_v from test
    where person_id=my_test_curs.person_id
    and attribute_name ='CURRENCY';
    INSERT INTO test2
    VALUES (my_test_curs.person_id,phone_number_v,EMAIL_v,CURRENCY_v);
    END LOOP;
    END;
    Then you will create your final table like this:
    create table final_table as select * from test2 where 1=2;
    After that write this code:
    INSERT ALL
    into final_table
    SELECT DISTINCT(BUYER_ID),PHONE_NUMBER,EMAIL,CURRENCY
    FROM TEST2;
    If you have a huge amount of data in your original table this solution may take a long time to do what you need.

  • Short text and number of outline not maintained error in BAPI_ENTRYSHEET_CREATE

    Hi Experts,
    I am using BAPI BAPI_ENTRYSHEET_CREATE' for creation of service entry sheets.
    I passed below data into the respective parameters
    Entry Header Sheet -
    SHORT_TEXT
    THIS IS SAMPLE TEXT
    PO_NUMBER
    231002130
    PO_ITEM
    00010
    And just executed BAPI, I am able to get the ENTRYSHEET NUMBER.
    Next I tried passing below data again
    Entry Header Sheet -
    SHORT_TEXT
    THIS IS SAMPLE TEXT
    PO_NUMBER
    231002130
    PO_ITEM
    00010
    ENTRYSHEETSERVICES:
    QUANTITY
    10.000
    BASE_UOM
    AU
    And then executed - I am getting an error saying 'Short text and number of outline not maintained'.
    My input file to  BAPI contains the structure as  PO, Item Number, Short Text for Service Entry sheet and Quantity.
    Please suggest if any ideas.

    So your goal is to have 4 tempdb files, each 5GB?  Below is a sample script to accomplish the task within the 20GB space constraint.
    --reduce size of existing file to 5GB

  • Scheduling multiple tab BO XI3 report needs to save into multiple text file

    Hi,
    I have BO XI 3 Desktop Intelligence reports, those reports contains multiple tabs. Once after scheduling these reports the output needs to save as different text files (each tab as separate text file). Generally when select output as text file we will get the text file with the data of current tab, but in this scenario I want all the tabs data into different text files. I guess we can do this with macro. But I am not good in macro development, hope somebody can help me.
    Could you please help out for the same!
    Thanks,
    Rama

    Thanks Dan.. I made chenges in code as per your suggestion.. its working fine in DeskI -> local PC
    But this is not working in InfoView level... when i scheduled the same report its not saving into multiple text files... can you please have look...
    macro code as follows:-
    Public Sub SaveAsText()
    Dim StrTxtPath As String
    Dim BusDoc As busobj.Document
    Set BusDoc = ThisDocument
    Dim BusRep As Report
    Dim I As Integer
    On Error GoTo ErrHandler
    'StrTxtPath = "
    xxxx.xxx.xxx.com\common\Reporting\"
    StrTxtPath = "D:\Business Objects\Test_Macro\"
    For I = 1 To BusDoc.Reports.Count
    Set BusRep = BusDoc.Reports.Item(I)
    BusRep.ExportAsText (StrTxtPath & BusRep.Name)
    Next I
    ErrHandler:
    Exit Sub
    End Sub
    When i run this macro through DeskI.. its saving the report as multiple .txt files with respective number of tabs... but the same thing is not working when i tried in scheduling...
    Can you please suggest me what are the changes needs to be done...

  • Split 1 column into multiple columns

    Hi
    How can we acheive this in Sql:
    Col 1
    abc def ghi jkl
    convert to:
    Col 1
    Col 2
    Col 3
    Col 4
    abc
    def
    ghi
    jkl
    Royal Thomas

    The best approach is to NOT split them out into individual columns... It violates the 1st normal form...
    Under first normal form, all occurrences of a record[sic] type must contain the same number of fields[sic].
    First normal form excludes variable repeating fields[sic] and groups.
    The better approach is to split them into rows, in their own table, with a foreign key reference back to the table you are pulling them away from.
    If you check my 1st post you'll see that I split the string with a function. That same a function can be used to populate the new table.
    Something along these lines...
    IF OBJECT_ID('tempdb..#BadOldDesign') IS NOT NULL
    DROP TABLE #BadOldDesign;
    CREATE TABLE #BadOldDesign (
    ID INT NOT NULL IDENTITY(1,1) PRIMARY KEY,

    ('abc htr tbj yfd hjk mth'),
    ('bbb hyt tbj vyk hjk htd'),
    ('vvv nud'),
    ('yyy hyn tbj bdr '),
    ('htr htf tbj yfd hjk mko'),
    ('kio bhn tbj bjd hjk'),

    SELECT * FROM #BadOldDesign bod
    IF OBJECT_ID('tempdb..#ShinyNewTable') IS NOT NULL
    DROP TABLE #ShinyNewTable;
    SELECT

    sc8.Item

    CROSS APPLY dbo.SplitCSVToTable8K(bod.ListOfCodes, ' ') sc8;
    ALTER TABLE #ShinyNewTable ALTER COLUMN id INT NOT NULL;

  • Merge two columns of url/text and locator numbers

    Want to merge a url - http://www.vimeo.com to a numbered vimeo film locator for the 'screeners sheet' for a film contest.
    The current set up is: Column A - film title; Column B will be the Category; Column C - the url of vimeo with a / at the end to accept...Column D - the vimeo film locator number; Columns E-I will be the rating topics (originality, technical accuracy etc); Column J will contain the sum of the screeners ratings from Columns E-I.
    There is no need to have totals at the bottom of columns just at the end of the rows. We have about 1000 films being rated for the Contest to win over $30k in Awards (sweet!).  Ultimately this list will be divided into Categories then 'shared' with the individual screening teams to view remotely through this spread sheet and rate the film work.
    Oh the coup de gras is the merge needs to keep it as an active link to Vimeo (which doesn't happen in the =Concatenate(C,D) formula. The lyper link stays active when we manually input each letter/number - but for 1,000 films - that's a yikes amount of work. Gotta be an easier way!
    Thanks for your help!

    Might need the mystics as well!
    I'm having difficulty getting Numbers to recognize URLs to begin with, not just when they've been put together with the concatenation function (or the concatenation operator). I do have the feature turned on, but the recognition has been sporadic, to say the least.
    Assuming you have that sorted out, this might be a profitable line of enquiry:
    After joining the items using concatenation, select the cells now containing the full URL and Copy, then go to the Edit menu and choose Paste Values.
    Can't test it myself, for the reasons given above, but the labor cost of the home test isn't unendurable.

  • Breaking up sections of a column into multiple colums in a query

    Hi,
    I have a column called LEDGERACCOUNT that contains values such as '70410-TMB-MAT-MSP----'. I'd like to write a query that breaks the values between the '-' into separate columns. So far I have managed to get the first part with
    left(LEDGERACCOUNT, 5)
    How do I new get the others done so that, for the account above, TMB appears in one column, MAT in another and MSP in another.
    For all records the values will be in the same position.
    Cheers

    How many times your "-" delimiter would be present?
    If its 3 times of maximum , then you can use the below:
    Create Table Product(Col1 varchar(10),Col2 Varchar(1000))
    iNSERT INTO Product(Col1,Col2) sELECT 1,'70410-TMB-MAT-MSP'
    ;With cte as (Select Col1, REPLACE(Col2,'-','.') Col2 From Product)
    Select Col1, PARSENAME(Col2,4) ,PARSENAME(Col2,3),PARSENAME(Col2,2),PARSENAME(Col2,1)
    From cte
    Drop table Product
    If the delimiter is more than 3 times, you can use the below:
    Create Table Product(Col1 varchar(10),Col2 Varchar(1000))
    iNSERT INTO Product(Col1,Col2) sELECT 1,'70410-TMB-MAT-MSP'

  • Split SQR output into multiple files And Rename each file.

    Greetings!
    We ran into scenario where we need to split an SQR output (PDF) split into multiple files (each page , each file). More over the out put has to be renamed with EMPLID.
    It is for printing Advices, where we run DDP003 to print all of them, Our requirement needs to have one PDF file for each employee to placed into a shared drive OR to be emailed.
    I was thinking of running the same process in a loop individually, but this is resource intensive. Is there any way we can batch run this SQR process and split into each page (each paychek comes to one page),
    AND
    I need them renamed by SQR as it creates them, Each file would be names as EMPLID.
    This is all in alternative to run process individually by employee , via self service. to not to over laod Process scheduler server.
    Can anyone help me how can we get these thigns done in SQR?
    Thanks in advance.

    You can use the SQR command new-report for each employee which closes the current report output file and opens a new one with the specified file name (e.g. EMPLID).

    I have a long document text for a textbook, some paragraph I need to use two column (single column), but  the order wrongly changes between text and footnote.
    Footnote should be in the end of the page.

    Check the scripts by Peter Kahrel and see if one of them applies to your case: http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/footnotes.html

  • Problem in Keeping one table columns in multiple pages and achive commit

    Hi,
    i'm using ADF BC+JSF. I have one table which holds 100 column, when i design the UI page, i'm using show one tab to show the fields and kept 50 columns in one tab another 50 columns in second tab. I filled the first tab 50 columns and i try to move to second tab then it showing error stating that you are filled the remaining columns which there in second tab.
    pls. help me to resolve.
    regards
    Bmgan

    Thanks Steve. Unfortunately we want to validate when users click on a button to fire the commit call. Since we do a lot of partial page rendering and sometimes we have to refresh the entire page (i.e. when coming back from pop-ups), this solution won’t work. Any ideas on how we can validate from the entity while at the same time showing the standard ADF error messages. We tried other approaches (like the ones from the below link) with no luck.
    validations, autosubmit and partial page requests

  • Split imported XML data into multiple text fields

    I should first describe my final project because it is very possible that I am going about this entirely wrong!
    I am trying to create an interactive PDF file which is the floor plan of our office, when you mouse over the office spaces it would popup the info for the person in that office, in fact when you click on the office space it would show additional info like computer MAC and jack numbers
    I placed the floor plan as a layer and them created a second layer with no fill/no stroke rectangles over the offices and made them buttons (office01, office02)
    I then made text fields with the info for the people, one for regular info and one for extra info (office01-data, office01-Xdata) I made these text fields buttons as well and had them "hidden until triggered"
    These info fields are all on top of one another, as in the are all the same size and in teh same location
    Then I went to the office buttons and created events "On Roll Over" "Show/Hide Buttons and Forms" and changed the visibility of the corresponding info button.
    This works like a charm!
    I hope I am clear up to this point.... my problem now is I would like to import this data both regular and extra from an excel spreadsheet or an XML file.
    That way when we get new staff or people move offices or whatever I can update the spreadsheet or XML file, rerun my InDesign file and create a new interactive PDF
    I have created the XML file
    <staffMap>
         <staff>
              <name>John Doe</name>
              <computerName<gfth56df</computerName>
              <phoneMAC>00:08:00:AB:CD:EF</phoneMAC>
         </staff>
    <staff>
              <name>John Smith</name>
              <computerName<gfth06cb</computerName>
              <phoneMAC>00:08:00:11:22:33</phoneMAC>
         </staff>
    </staffMap>
    Created a new InDesign document
    Imported the XML and placed it in a text field
    saved as a template and closed it
    Reopen and import the XML data again... and it brings it all into the text field... wonderful and useful but not what I need.
    Is it possible to import the XML data into separate test fields, or into some other separate field that I can make into a button and show/hide?
    I may end up just entering all the data directly into InDesign as I know this will work, it just does not seem like the right way to do it.
    Thanking you all in advance

    I am still looking to get some help with this.
    I would love to know if it is not possible or any ideas at all
