Spool Output in Batch Job

Hi Team,
I have ran a batch job and in the o/p spool i was able to see only 15 columns. But the width is upto 40 cloumns. I tried in settings of batch jobs but it was only for no. of pages. please let me know how to view the other 25 columns.
Note: Even when i downloaded in excel format i was able to see only those 15 columns.
Looking forward for your answers.

Hi,
Is your job related to ALV output?
If yes, I suggest to check on SPAD settings, see also links below:

  • How can we stop generating spools for some batch jobs?

    HI guys,
Is memory will be occupied in SAP  during spool generation from batch jobs ?
If yes, to reduce occupied memory, we want to stop generating spools for few batch jobs. Please suggest me the way how we can acheive this.(Step details)
    Please help me.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Sahil

Stopping the spool generation for background jobs will not help you to reduce the memory load.
First check what is the total memory utilization and type of processes where the memory is being utilized more.
EWA can give you better idea to get the above details.
Spooling concept doesn't eat that much of memory what you are expecting.

  • At selection-screen output in batch job

    Hi guys,
is at selection-screen output event being triggered in batch job?
    Thanks!

Yes it will, We set the value using a variant during scheduling the job but that values can also be false. You can check that yourself and look for job log then.

  • Where to update spool Title for batch job

    Dear Experts,
We have a requirement to update spool title for a batch job. I have updated spool title under step--> print specifications --> Title. But the spool title is not updated. Can u pls. guide me is there any place where I have to update the spool title.
    Thanks,
    Vinay

    Hi Vinay,
In SM36 in STEP definition after the report name is filled, press button Print specifications, then button Properties. There you can change the Spool request properties, such as Name, Title and Authorization.

    Hi,
The code starting from WAIT UP TO 10 SECONDS. - not only does it look attrocious, is error prone (if no free process for executing batch job is available for 10 seconds, or if the job runs for more than 10 seconds, what will happen...?), but seems utterly unnecessary... Is there any reason immediate spool output can not be handled by simply setting PRINT_PARAMETERS-PRIMM = 'X'?
    cheers,
    Janis
    Edit in:
Ok, i just read Document in spool but not printed... Do not use an output device relying on frontend access methods to do printing from background processing. Frontend is not available during background processing, period. To my knowledge there is no easy, clean solution to this problem other than defining and assigning, per user, output devices not relying on frontend printing. What if the dialog user has logged off by the time batch job finishes..? May the spool remain unprinted?
Has the SAP Basis refused to define output devices (I have hard time believing this...)? Well, tell them one time to stop being silly and if they do not cooperate, tell the owner of the requirement that it can not be implemented due to uncooperative Basis then... and that the users will have to keep going to SP01 and manualy start the output!

  • How to get a graphical display of spool request after a batch job?

    Hi all,
I have scheduled a bunch of batch jobs. When I run sm37 to look at the finished jobs, I can see that there is a "papirus like ikon" in the second column, Ln, (the one on the right from the job names) for some of the jobs, but not for the most of them.
Now when I, in sm37, mark this job for which I have an "papirus like ikon", press a "Spool" icon on top of the screen, then mark one step and press the "google icon" I get an output of what job performed in that step. That output usually gives a quite good information of what the program did (e.g. Nr of lines deleted, OP released).
Now my question is how do I get that spol output for the rest of the jobs as well?
    Thanks and Kind Regards,
    Armin

    Hi Thomas,
As you said, the OTF is stored as is in the spool file, and you can read it using the C calls, or use RSPO_RETURN_SPOOLJOB function module for example.
Note that using SP01, you can send a spool via a menu entry, which corresponds to function module RSPO_SPOOLJOB_TO_OFFICE.
    Best regards
    Sandra

  • Were do I get the relation spool device batch job/programs

    Hi there,
I need to know what batch jobs and what SAP programs/reports ... are related to specific spool devices.
Our business need: we need to replace some old spool devices which are used for some batch jobs, SAP programs... so we need a list of them.
Can anybody tell me what tables, reports, tcodes... are helpfull for this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Alwina,
thanks you for your reply - this helps me for spool request which are created by batch Jobs (only running in Background?!).
What about spool request which are created by a user in dialog or when the output device is coded in source code of a ABAP program (I don't know if this is possible, i am not an ABAP developer)?
Does the report BTCAUX05 (note 1145265) helps me here, too?
    Thanks

  • Is it possible to have Multiple Spool requests in one batch job overview?

    Hi,
While running one of my z program in back ground, there are two spools generated (one by write statement and one by OPEN_FORM statement and both the spools are available in SP01 Transaction), but when i see the job overview in transaction SM37, I only see one spool request (that of the last spool request). Can any body in the group please tell me is it possible to see multiple spool requests in the job overview of one Abap program and if yes, how?
    Thank you.
    Abinash

    Hi Jayanthi,
Thank you for the link. But probably that discussion was also an unsolved one.
Anyway, does any one in the group think that display of multiple spools per one step job is dependent on client / SAP Server setting? Because as evident from the chain of mails in the link provided by Jayanthi, some people say that they see multiple spool requests for one program in batch mode job overview (SM37)? If yes, can some body tell me the required configuration?

  • Batch Job not Generating Spool No

    Hi Experts,
We had a custom program where we are printing multiple invoice in a single go i.e all invoices for a particular sales office are printed in a single spool request. for foreground execution it is running fine. But after creating variant of it on selection screen & submitting the program to Batch job it is not creating spool no when the job is finished what could be the reason.?
Also i would like to tell you that we are asking user to give a invoice no range on the selection screen.
Edited by: priyeshosi on Jan 4, 2012 5:03 PM

    Hi priyeshosi ,
If you use function modules start with GUI_* or  WS_* in your report , then you can't generate the spool.
reason for this, Please check this link,

  • Not generating a spool output in the background job

    Hi Team,
I have an alv report and If I schedule the program using SM36 transaction it is not generating the spool ouput.
If I run the same program in background mode when we use se38 and select execute in background in program menu and it works successfully and generates alv grid list in the spool output.
But, user wants to schedule the job in sm36 and check the same output in spool. Please advise why it is not generating.
Note:I am using the cl_salv_table=>factory method to generate the output.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sunil Kumar.

This is not really an ABAP question and you might want to ask your Basis admin for assistance. But I believe that spool will not be generated if you don't specify print parameters for a step. When you define the step in SM36, make sure to specify the print parameters.

  • ALV list display in a Background job - Spool output

    Hi,
We are currently working on a report scheduled to be run in the background job, and the ALV list is displayed in the spool output.
ALV list in the spool does not look the same as front run job, the column headers are all crowded together, and there is no grid in-between different columns or rows. It's hard to read.
Is there a way to add grid for this kind of output?
    Thanks!

    Hi Deepak:
I expanded your report into two rows display, and the grid in the spool display simply gone!

  • Changing the file format of spool output when scheduling a background job.

    Hello Experts,
I have an issue. It is related to Spool output format. I created a job for one report program for which the output is a list output. I have added one recipient in the 'Spool list recipient' while creating the job SM36. After the job is finished the spool output is sent to the recipient mail id as .htm format as an attachment. But the attachment should be excel sheet or text file. No coding in the program should be used to convert the file format. Only settings in the spool while creating job should be manipulated. Please help me in solving this issue.
    Regards.

    Hi Sunil,
You can use the logic for converting spool to PDF using program : RSTXPDFT4 . Alternatively you can use FM: CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF . In this FM you need to pass the Spool id .
u can make use of these FM's SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1
    SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1
    Check out the following wiki:

  • Background Job spool / output file in different app server

We are working with 2 ECC app servers, A and B.
I've defined in app server A a background job to run an abap report and this report creates and submit 4 other background jobs.
Each of these 4 jobs is regarding an abap report which outputs a text file in the server.
The question is, why are the jobs generating the files in different app servers randomically?
The same file, in the 1st execution was generated in app server A, and without any change was generated in app server B, in the job 2nd execution?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
You can specify server name whille creating a batch job , so that it gets executed to that server only.
there is one field (in SM36 during creation or SM37 while modifying batch job) called "Exec Target " , where you can specify server name.
Hence you can plan to run your some batch jobs on server A or B.
