Spool Request in job scheduling

Hi All,
I have scheduled one report in background. But in the spool I am not getting the display of the output in proper manner.
The columns are displayed on two lines.
Please tell me how can I get all the columns in one line. I tried by setting the width of the spool request to the highest value.
The output format which I am getting in the spool is as follows.

Hi,
Even after setting a output device which can hold max characters, am sure its something to do with line-size clause of the report parameter. Try changing the line-size to a highervalue in the report statement of the program like below
report ztest no standard page heading line-size 230 line-count 65.

  • Help requested regarding job scheduling for an action

    Hi Gurus,
I have created an action with a custom method. This method is used to change the status of all the subsequent tasks from that transactions. In case if any of the tasks is opened while the action is executing then the action would error out. To reprocess such action I created a job for the variant created in CRMC_ACTION_MONITOR. But it doesnt seems to work. Please suggest how to go about it.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Jai

Did you set processing time for an action as "Processing Using Selection Report"?
Did you create variant in SPPFP and defined "Processing without dialog"?
Did you schedule job for program RSPPFPROCESS and your variant of report?

  • HotNews correction for Y2010 spool request error available

    Dear gurus,
I became aware of [SAP Note 1422843|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1422843] which has affected all my systems's spool request reorg jobs.
It is currently release and patch level independent, so you will all be affected by it as well.
You can verify this via entries in table SP01 field RQDELTIME = 2099*
As a kernel patch might take a while (also to download, install, test, etc...) there is a workaround attached to the note until you get there.
Cheers and best wishes for the new years until 2099..
    Julius

    > ...and the variant provided in this note 1422843 doesn't clean at all....
Yes, it does not "clean" the spool requests out of the system - it corrects the deletion date symptom so that your reorg job will pick them up again. Dependent on your config, this might take a few days to become "cleaned", as they were before as well.
Another option is to reorg the spool requests based on the creation date alone. This works fine for "smaller" systems and will protect the spool overflow and number range problem. It will however not correct the other less critical symptoms, so applying the kernel patch at some stage soon is recommended anyway.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • What is the spool, what is its role in background job scheduling

    Hi,
I want to know what is meant by Spool request and spool number generated.
    Tell about transaction SP01.
How it is linked to Background job scheduling.
    thanks.
    sam.

    Hi,
    Refer this link.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/inf?rid=/library/uuid/7a5f4061-0a01-0010-c9bc-a4e4cb100438
    About SP01.
Printing does not work in SAP. There is a printer definition for your local printer, but it does not work. Presuming that you use the program SAPLPD on your computer.
Boot your computer and start only the SAPLogon and the SAPLpd program.
Delete all of your old print jobs in the SAP system (Transaction SP01).Generate only one new print job.
Check that there is enough resource in your computer. Check the free memory (Win 3.1x) and the free disk space (The lists are temporarily saved on your disk).
Open the SAPLPD and read the print log in the window. The printer definition must correspond with the parameters shown here.
Check that the standard printer is on the same lpt (Win 3.1: Control panel, Printer) as defined for the printer (usually lpt1).
In Transaction SP01 read the protocol of your print job. Do not generate new print jobs! Wait till the SAP system changes the status of the print job.
If you can not find the print job in SP01 anymore, then the print job was successfully printed out. If it didn't come out on your printer and the SAPLpd didn't indicate an incoming print job, then the connection was realised with another PC. Then SAP printer definition you used, does not correspond with your computer.
    Scheduling Background Jobs:
    1.        Background jobs are scheduled by Basis administrators using transaction SM36.
    2.        To run a report in a background, a job needs to be created with a step using the report name
and a variant for selection parameters. It is recommended to create a separate variant for each
scheduled job to produce results for specific dates (e.g. previous month) or organizational units (e.g.
    company codes).
    3.        While defining the step, the spool parameters needs to be specified
(Step-> Print Specifications->Properties) to secure the output of the report and help authorized users
to find the spool request. The following parameters needs to be maintained:
    a.        Time of printing: set to u201CSend to SAP spooler Only for nowu201D
    b.        Name u2013 abbreviated name to identify the job output
    c.        Title u2013 free form description for the report output
    d.        Authorization u2013 a value defined by Security in user profiles to allow those users to access
this spool request (authorization object  S_SPO_ACT, value SPOAUTH).  Only users with matching
authorization value in their profiles will be able to see the output.
    e.        Department u2013 set to appropriate department/functional area name. This field can be used in
    a search later.
    f.        Retention period u2013 set to u201CDo not deleteu201D if the report output needs to be retained for more
than 8 days. Once the archiving/document repository solution is in place the spool requests could
be automatically moved to the archive/repository. Storage Mode parameter on the same screen
could be used to immediately send the output to archive instead of creating a spool request.
    Configuring user access:
    1.        To access a report output created by a background job, a user must have at
least access to SP01 (Spool requests) transaction without restriction on the user
name (however by itself it will not let the user to see all spool requests). To have
that access the user must have S_ADMI_FCD authorization object in the profile with
SPOR (or SP01) value of S_ADMI_FCD parameter (maintained by Security).
    2.        To access a particular jobu2019s output in the spool, the user must have
S_SPO_ACT object in the profile with SPOAUTH parameter matching the value used
in the Print Specifications of the job (see p. 3.d above).
    3.        Levels of access to the spool (display, print once, reprint, download, etc) are
controlled by SPOACTION parameter of S_SPO_ACT. The user must have at least
    BASE access (display).
    On-line reports:
    1.        Exactly the same configuration can be maintained for any output produced
from R/3. If a user clicks u201CParametersu201D button on a SAP Printer selection dialog, it
allows to specify all the parameters as described in p. 3 of
u201CScheduling background jobsu201D section. Thus any output created by an online report
can be saved and accessed by any user authorized to access that spool request
(access restriction provided by the Authorization field of the spool request
    attributes, see p. 3.d of u201CScheduling background jobsu201D section).
    Access to reportu2019s output:
    1.        A user that had proper access (see Configuring user access above) can
    retrieve a job/report output through transaction SP01.
    2.        The selection screen can be configured by clicking u201CFurther selection
criteriau2026u201D button (e.g. to bring u201CSpool request name (suffix 2)u201D field or hide other
    fields).
    3.        The following fields can be used to search for a specific output (Note that
Created By must be blank when searching for scheduled jobu2019s outputs)
    a.        Spool request name (suffix 2) u2013 corresponds to a spool name in p. 3.b in
    u201CScheduling background jobsu201D section above).
    b.        Date created u2013 to find an output of a job that ran within a certain date range.
    c.        Title u2013 corresponds to spool Title in p. 3.c in u201CScheduling background jobsu201D
    section above).
    d.        Department - corresponds to spool Department in p. 3.e in u201CScheduling
    background jobsu201D section above).
    4.        Upon entering selection criteria, the user clicks the Execute button   to
retrieve the list of matching spool requests.
    5.        From the spool list the user can use several function such as view the
content of a spool request, print the spool request, view attributed of the spool
request, etc. (some functions may need special authorization, see p.3 in
    Configuring user access)
    a.        Click the Print button   to print the spool request with the default attributes
(usually defined with the job definition). It will print it on a printer that was
specified when a job was created.
    b.        Click the u201CPrint with changed attributedu201D button   to print the spool request
with the different attributes (e.g. changing the printer name).
    c.        Click the u201CDisplay contentsu201D button   to preview the spool request contents. A
Print    and Download   functions are available from the preview mode.
Exporting the Contents of a Spool Request
    Use
You want to export the contents of a spool request as a text file to the SAP GUI working directory or to a directory of your choice. The content of the spool request is downloaded as plain text without, for example, graphics, images, or specific fonts.
The following procedures are irrelevant for the PDF-based form printing integrated as of SAP Web Application Server 6.40, since the print data can be opened and stored as a PDF. See also Displaying and Printing PDF-Based Forms.
    Procedure
Exporting to the SAP GUI Working Directory:
Choose Spool Request ® Forward® Export as Text.
The entire text is stored in your SAP GUI working directory in ASCII format.
A file of this type is named using the following pattern:
    .txt
    Example: ABC0000004327.txt
You require appropriate authorization for this function.
Exporting to a Directory of Your Choice:
With this method of exporting a spool request, the content of the spool request is first displayed and you then download the screen list as a text file to the directory of your choice.
           1.      Select the spool request to be exported and choose  Display Contents.
           2.      In the case of SAPScript/Smart Forms documents, activate list display by choosing Goto.
           3.      Choose System ® List ® Save ® Local File.
           4.      Choose one of the available formats and confirm your choice.
           5.      Choose a directory and save the spool request.
By default, only the first 10 pages of a spool request are saved in a file. You can increase the number of pages to be saved by choosing Goto ® Display Requests ® Settings and making the desired entries in the Display Area group box.

  • Best practice for schedule printing of spool requests

    Hi there,
I am searching for a method / best practice how to schedule the printing of different spool requests.
    The following situation:
A lot of different spool requests are generated in the night, but they should be printed at a specific time in the morning. So I am searching for a method to get the spool requests and print them to a specific printer at a specific time by job.
    Thanks ahead,
    Bernd

I found a (very old) SAP program RSPO0065 that seems to do just that. However it does not allow overriding the print paramters, so the actual jobs need be scheduled with the correct parameters, most notably the desired printer.

  • BackGround Job's Spool Request is having "Waiting" "Frontend unavailable"

    Hello Friends,
I am facing one problem related to Spool Request, which is generated through Scheduled Background Jobs (scheduled by funcional people).
The Background Job is having status "completed" when analyzing it. But, its associated Spool Request is showing "waiting" Status, with "Frontend unavailable" as Status Text.
Here is the brief status of that Spool Request.
    28448     1      300 USER1 00:00 LP01 X_65_80      Frontend unavailable
    in Detail:
    Description          Value
    Status:              Frontend unavailable
    Last event:
    Message:             Request on hold
    Date:                01.07.2009
    Time:                00:00:27
    Job status:          On hold
    Error class:         Delayed
    Area:                Data transfer
    Printout:            Not printed
The Setting of LP01 O/Device is as followed:
    Output Device        LP01
Device Type        SWIN SWIN  : Windows printing via SAPlpd
    Device Class      Standard Printer
Host Spool Access Method       F F: Printing on Front End Computer
    Host printer                     __DEFAULT
Moreover, the SAP User USER1 is allocated LP01 as Output Device with "Output Immediately" & "Delete After Output" checked status.
Some Background Jobs are showing the same status for this LP01.
    I have a doubt on allocated O/P Device LP01.
Any Clue for this issue ?
    Regards,
    Bhavik G. Shroff

    Hello Markus,
Here , in our Landscape , there is not Print Server. All are taking prints through, Networked Printer and their local connected Printers.
Can i configure "send to SAP Spooler for now" instead of "Print Immediately "in the Print Specification of those Background Jobs ?
Moreover, Some Background jobs are sending E-Mails with the processed Reports as an Attachments. They are showing sometime unexpected behavior, in sending emails,  although there is no relation is with this Printing related issue.
When i am looking into "Overview of Send Orders" of SCOT, some Background Jobs are showing success for sending emails, and some are not showing success, even though All the recipients are same for the scheduled Background Jobs which are running on same time.

  • How to find out which job delete old spool requests?

    Dear Experts,
We have a problem with spool requests being deleted automatically, we've checked job RSPO1041 and made sure it was not scheduled to run, but somehow spool requests are gone. We also checked all the jobs on the day requests were deleted but nothing stands out. I would really appreciate it if any of you can help us find out which job is doing this or how to avoid requests being deleted.
    Thank you!
    Ling

    Hi,
Please check the value of parameter 'rspo/req_lifetime' as it decides the lifetime of the spool requests which are generally stored in TemSe.Go through note 48400,this may help you understand how spool requests are stored and reorganized.
    Thanks

  • Is it possible to have Multiple Spool requests in one batch job overview?

    Hi,
While running one of my z program in back ground, there are two spools generated (one by write statement and one by OPEN_FORM statement and both the spools are available in SP01 Transaction), but when i see the job overview in transaction SM37, I only see one spool request (that of the last spool request). Can any body in the group please tell me is it possible to see multiple spool requests in the job overview of one Abap program and if yes, how?
    Thank you.
    Abinash

    Hi Jayanthi,
Thank you for the link. But probably that discussion was also an unsolved one.
Anyway, does any one in the group think that display of multiple spools per one step job is dependent on client / SAP Server setting? Because as evident from the chain of mails in the link provided by Jayanthi, some people say that they see multiple spool requests for one program in batch mode job overview (SM37)? If yes, can some body tell me the required configuration?

  • Write the Error log from background Job to the Spool request

    Hi ,
I have a situation where in i need to capture the error log of a Z program which runs as a background job and write that log into the spool request. My Z program calls runs RSEINB00 program using the SUBMIT statement. When this Job fails the error log can be seen in SM37. But i need this error log to be sent in to a spool.
I can read the error log using the BP_JOBLOG_READ FM and can also create a spool using the RSPO_SPOOL_OPEN FM.
The problem is, when the Submit statement executes, due to internal valdation in the RSEINB00 program the program terminates. Due to this it is not able to perform the SY-SUBRC Check and thus doesn't read the log.
Can anybody suggest me how to overcome this problem. I am attaching the code for your refernece.
    SUBMIT RSEINB00
           USING SELECTION-SET 'TEST2'
                           TO SAP-SPOOL
                           LIST NAME 'LOCL'
                           IMMEDIATELY space
                           KEEP IN SPOOL 'X'
           AND RETURN.
    <b>If sy-subrc <> 0.</b>
                 CALL FUNCTION 'BP_JOBLOG_READ'
                  EXPORTING
                    CLIENT                      = SY-MANDT
                    JOBCOUNT                    = i_tbtco-jobcount
                    JOBLOG                      = i_tbtco-joblog
                    JOBNAME                     = i_tbtco-jobname
                   TABLES
                     JOBLOGTBL                   = l_joblog
                 IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
                 else.
                    message i002 with l_joblog-msgv1.
                 ENDIF.
    <b>
    ENDIF.</b>
    Rgds,
    Kewal
P.S. : any other approach to solve this problem will be appreciated too and the points will be rewarded suitably.

If I select a job in SM37 and I click on "spool" I get a list with separate spool entries for each of the steps, e. g.
    Programmname/Kommand   Programmtyp   Spoolliste
    Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_WERK  ABAP             1707445
    ZSLEEP                 Ext. Kommando
    Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_WERK  ABAP             1707459
    ZSLEEP                 Ext. Kommando
    Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_MARA  ABAP             1721423
    ZSLEEP                 Ext. Kommando
    Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_WERK  ABAP             1721437
    Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_MARA  ABAP             1721446
    Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_WERK  ABAP             1721447
    Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_VKORG ABAP             1721471
    ZSLEEP                 Ext. Kommando
    Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_VKORG ABAP             1721521
    ZSLEEP                 Ext. Kommando
    Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_VKORG ABAP             1721816
It's in German but I'm sure you get the idea. For each Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE and variant I have a separate spool list that I can display.

  • Is there any FM to generate spool request for error log of a background job

    Hi,
I am going to create a program to create deliveries and do PGI. This program will be assigned to periodic background job.Now whatever  errors are generated in program i have to send the error log to spool request. Is there any FM for generating spool request with this error log  or how can this be done? Kindly provide sample code if possible.
    Thanks.
    Nimish Dongare.

    Hi Nimish,
How are you doing, This is Shreekant working as ABAP developer, I sow your post in sdn forum, I have a similar requirement like I am changing the delivery taking some data from a flat file which is coming from other system and do PGI. If any error occurs during this process I need to capture it and present it as a report or create log file.. whichever is easier.
Please can u help me how did u achieved this functionality for your requirement?.. pls. can u share some details.
If u don mind, can u give me ur email id to communicate.
    Thanks,

  • Job in background and multiple spool requests

    Hi everybody,
I'm executing a program in a background job. The program outputs 2 spool requests. When I get to SM37 t-code to see job's result, I can see at "Job Log" option that 2 spool requests were generated. But... when I press "Spool" option from SM37 t-code I only see the last one. In spite of this, when I get at the spool controller through SP01 t-code I can see both of them. Can you help me with this issue? Why from one place I get 1 request and from the other the 2 ones?
Thanks in advance and kind regards,
    MMP.

    Hi,
Check out [this thread|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=16405444&messageID=1181695] which has a discussion on this topic and points out [Note 519059|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/519059]:
8] Question: How are the spool requests assigned?
Answer: The step information is stored in table TBTCP. This has space for exactly one spool request (field LISTIDENT). If a step generates several spool requests during the processing, only one can be stored. In this case the application is responsible for a "spool overview".

  • Setting format for spool requests in background jobs, for emails

    Hi,
Don't know if this is the correct forum, but I'll give it a go (will appricate info regarding what forum is applicable otherwise.)
For some periodical background jobs that we run in ECC, we have in the job set up that a mail group of people to receives the spool request via mail. Vi have used this a few years now. When we recently uppgraded from R/3 to ECC, the format of the spool request sent as mail attachment changed from .txt to .htm. This is however not the problem for us.
We now have a scenario with a daily mail report, i.e. delivered as an attachment (htm-format) in our email system (Lotus Notes).
So far so good, and nothing really new about this, except the changed format.
What the users want is to print this report. It can be done, but it is a wide report, so it cuts the report in three pieces, as there is no automatic sizing to landscape printout and/our automatic sizing to one page. The best solution would be if it automatically was set up to landscape + automatically fit page size. Which format (.txt .htm .xls .pdf...) we receive the file in, is not really important, as long as we can print it directly without having to reformat it. Now we have to save the file to excel manually after we receive it, and then format the excel sheet. Just for printout purpose, so it is annoying work.
Any solution available? (preferrably without coding)
    BR,
    Niclas

    Hi NTR,
If you are using FM REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY to print your ALV Report it has got a paramter IS_PRINT in which you can pass your format type. Below is the field name where you have to pass your format type.
    IS_PRINT-print_ctrl-PRI_PARAMS-PAART

  • Saving spool request  in PDF format  using background job

    Hi,
We have some important jobs which create spool requests. My requirement is to save those spool requests either on front end  or on application server in pdf format. I tried with  program RSTXPDF4 but i can save those files only when pdf conversion is done online and I want it to run in background  as some of the spool request have more then 3000 pages and also i'm not looking for ABAP development.
It is fine with me to save it in text format but some of the spool request have around 3000 pages and  i cannot save the whole request in one shot using option system->list->save->local file
It is appreciated if someone has any alternative for the above one.
    Regards,
    Chaitanya

    Hi,
Just check Is it solve your purpose... When you are creating background jobs mention your email / user id as spool list recipient...
I think you will recv. the spool output in the mailbox in pdf

  • WHICH TABLE STORES SPOOL REQUEST GENERATED BY BACKGROUND JOB ?

Background job is generating multiple request.
i am not able to find the table which stores all the spool request for a particular background job.

i know the table for spool request :  TSP01
But how should i link it to background job name ?
i want the link between background job name and spool request generated by it......
TBTCPV is the view but it stores only one spool request.....rather than multiple spoolreq generated by background job..
