Spry and IE8 Strikes Again

I am doing pages www.foxhill1.com and the spry menu looks fine in IE7, Firefox, Chrome and Safari but is terribly off center in IE8
Can anyone help. I don't use IE8 but some of my viewers do. HELP!!!!!!!

Thanks Ben. No I tried it on my wife's Inspiron with Vista and IE8 and
it looked fine. It must be some crazy anomaly with my son-in-laws computer
and IE8. Thanks again.

I have just installed IE8 beta and I now notice that when
viewing websites containing the Spry menu bar an addittional box
opens with the words failed... whenever I move accross the menu...
this only happens in IE8

No it doesn't, and nor should it. It fixes general errors in
Spry. Spry is a
lab experiment. Someday it will probably be very good. IE7
Beta caused a
panic and lots of folks did some "beta fixes"... and then had
to undo and
redo a lot of work upon the final release.
I strongly advise anyone seeing issues with a page in IE8 to
simply log in
to Microsoft's beta forum and report it. If you attempt to
fix a bug now,
you might be setting the stage for a broken page when the
finished version
of IE8 ships.

Spry Data Sets and IE8

Hi, I Currently have a glossary using the Spry Tabbed Panels with Spry Data Sets embedded in each tab. I had it working great in pre IE8.
Once we upgraded to IE8 it just wont load or display the data sets in the tabs. Below is the page code. (I used the JS straight from the Spry Framework no alterations, except in the CSS files). Any help would be great =).

A better fix: reduce the number of datasets to just one and use Xpath
filtering triggered by an onclick event, as in clicking the relevant tab.

yes, flowplayer is great tool, we are using it and its free version. cheers, but if u see http://apps.facebook.com/kickasskaraoke/most_liked.php in ie7 and ie8, click on video thumb and click on share or invite button, the video comes over the facebook window. i know the issue is diff If you get time let me know what is the solution for it. thnx in advance

Stuck in Installation Loop on WinXP and IE8

Hi all,
First post... had a look around, googled etc, could not find related issue or solution:
I have a user who is using WinXP (UK version) though who uses their laptop in Spain and who each time they open IE8 and go to a flash web-site, it tries to download updates for Flash even though it has 11.4.4.02.287 installed.
Flash then needs IE to close so it can install, though when you open IE again, it repeats the same process of downloading 9354k of data and then loops again.
Any ideas, please? Have rebotoed, uninstalled, re-installed, deleted the data from C:\Windows\System32, %appdata%\adobe, %appdata%\macromedia, etc.
Any reg keys that need tinkering?

I think what is happening, is that the site your user is visiting is using a script that first checks to see if Flash is installed, and if not, invokes our Express Install mechanism.
The problem is that Flash *is* installed, but the browser's security settings are such that Flash is not allowed to run. The JavaScript on the page looks to see if Flash is there, Flash doesn't respond, and it launches the Express Installer.
I'd recommend resetting Internet Explorer to default settings as the fastest way to get this resolved:

FileDownloadActionListener and IE8

Hi.
I have a button with fileDownloadActionListener. On click, it downloads Excel file.
On Chrome, newer IE and other browsers it works OK.
Even on IE8 works OK,except...
Then I addded a table below this button and it is causing problem. Now IE8 complains about security when downloading file.
I click "download file" on IE8 warning line, everything gets reposted, but nothing is downloaded.
Then I click "download" button again, and IE8 doesn't bother me anymore with unreal security warnings.
Is there any other mechanism that I could use that would support IE8 repost behaviour. So much that i understand is that when I click ADF "download" button, it actually posts ajax call to server. Logically, when IE tries to repost page, nothing works.
So maybe there should be something like "download file using <form> submit instead of ajax" functionality in ADF? Or am I completly wrong?
The thing I don't understand even close is how could ADF table component influence behaviour of download button.

The problem is in table, more exact when there are some rows in it?
I guess IE gets them via Ajax, and decides that this is suspicius, and then it displays that annoying message.
Any idea what to use instead of table....

Spry and prototype in jetspeed

Hi!
I have the same problem as some others with spry and
prototype. I want to use spry in a portlet in liferay. Liferay use
prototype.js. I have tried to put the spry before and after the
prototype and I have tried it with prototype.js versions 1.4
1.5_rc1 and 1.5. The spry version I use is 1.4.
If have both at one page I get always:
Spry.Data.updateRegion(toJSONString) caught an exception:
TypeError: Spry.Data.regionsArray[regionName].updateContent is not
a function
If you have fixed this in your current version of spry - when
will this be available?

again my question.. is there a newer version of spry, which works
with prototype.js and this jason.js?

I am on windows 7 and I upgraded to 10.0.2 and now it will not open. I have removed firefox completely and uploaded it again and that did not work. So my latest attempt I removed firefox 10 again and uploaded the beta version and once again nothing.

I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.

Delete the broken links in iTunes then look at your purchased list to redownload.
If this happened because you were deleting files from the iTunes folder in Finder, don't. You have to let iTunes do all the deleting and moving or you will end up with broken links.

Remove the extensions, redownload Safari, reload the extensions.

F-source menu not working with Windows 7 and IE8

This may be completely the wrong place to ask for help, but I could not find place else.
Several years ago I purchased the code from f-source to display an Adobe style flash menu for my website. I installed it and it worked fine.
Recently, I learned that it does not display properly to those using Windows 7 and IE8 (this may have also been happening with Vista). Rather than seeing my menu titles, people see "Button1, Button2, Button3...".
I have sent two messages to f-source support over the past 7 days, but have heard or seen nothing in the way of a response. Can anyone help me to either 1) fix the problem or 2) know whether older f-source code will ever work with the newer browsers.

You're right-clicking a link? I can't think of any setting that opens a blank tab when you right-click in a page. It's also strange that it would occur on the first click but not on the second click.
Does this affect all sites?
Are you expecting Firefox's context menu or the site's context menu?
One thing that comes to mind is overriding the site's own right-click handler by disabling scripts from capturing the right click. This is set under
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content
To the right of "Enable JavaScript" is a button to access "Advanced" options. If it's checked, uncheck the box for "Disable or replace context menus".
