Spry Horizontal Drop Downs Don't Work in iOS

I designed a site a while ago in Dreamwaever using a horizontal Spry menu system. Whilst I tested it using all the common browsers and it works in all of them I discovered that the second level of sub menus didn't worl on the iPad and iPhones. Client was unhappy so I redesigned it with only one level of sub menu and all was happy with the world. He still is happy as he doesn't update his iPad, but I have discovered with my own iPhone that the drop downs don't work at all now. I am just starting to design another site and have used spry horizontal to test the holding page and this also doesn't work. I am using the very most up-to-date version of Dreamweaver as I have now used the subscription based system.
If Spry doesn't work on iOS then it is no use. Whilst I hate Apple's arogance with disallowing Flash, it is a very popular product and one cannot afford to design sites that can be read on iPads and iPhones.
Is there another way to make drop down style menus? Is there a fix for the Spry menus? I am not big on coding which is why I use Dreamweaver. I did try the version two of the Spry menus, but it appears that you have to hand code all the changes from the default set up and couldn't see any way of including images as I have done on this site.

Spry horizontal drop down problem in IE

I would appreciate some help with a project I'm working on. My spry horizontal drop down menu looks best in Apple Safari on a Mac and looks worst in IE 8 on a PC. There are also some problems apparent in Firefox for both PC and Mac.
The problem in IE is that the horizontal bar is not the correct height even though I have set the height in the css:

The drop downs are the correct size, just the top menu bar that is not the right size.
The menu bar is the correct height in Firefox and Safari, but in Firefox the menu bar is a few pixels higher than it should be.

Spry horizontal drop down goofup

In an attempt to shrink my button bar, the drop down is now acting crazy in iexplorer. When you hover over the drop down arrow, the drop down menu pops up in the upper left corner of the screen. What have I done? I even tried deleting then rebuilding the bar, but it still comes up in the wrong place.

Drop downs don't work

I have windows 8.1 none of my drop downs work. When you click on them they turn blue but nothing drops. I am not a geek so make the fix easy as you can.

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that none of my drop downs work.
I recommend to disable the DIVX add on.
You can use another brower to check whether the drop downs work.

Spry Tab/Drop Down Menu conflict

When using spry tabs, my drop down menus go behind the tabs
and can't be read. This only happens on pc's. I am creating the
website on a mac running leopard. The template company is not
familiar with spry. It does not occur with spry accordiom.

First thing you should do is to update to the latest version
of Spry which is Spry 1.6.1. Install the updater:

Version 3.6.17 Horizontal drop down menu is displaying as vertical text list. Page style set to basic. Menu works fine in Internet Explorer. Any hints?

Animated drop down buttons not working in movie clip

I am working on this site: (AS2)

I have two types of drop down menu. One under Commercial and one under Technical
The buttons are movie clips. The drop downs are also movie clips that start in frame 2 and are triggered on rollover.
The child buttons are buttons living on the drop down movie clips. They are set to getURL
As you see they are not willing to neither link to any url or will they run their move clip animation. One is a button and one is a movie clip.
The left movie clip has a mask, but it makes no difference if I remove the mask . It also has a emboss filter and no difference is I take that away either.
All of it is in one flash movie right now, but I will be splitting it up in a master navigation movie and individual swf's soon.
Right now I have the main movie, then the button MC then the dropdown MC and in the drop down MC I have placed either a animated (button) MC or a button. So it nested in nested in.......
In both cases I scripting the child buttons like this:

on (rollOut) {
gotoAndPlay(6);
on (release) {

I have also tried to use
_parent.getURL and _root.getURL in stead of just get URL, but it does not work.
The drop down buttons seem to be buried. In the left side the whole drop down panel seems to act like a link?
What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for your reply again.
I figured it out.
Your reply prompted me to have my main button on rollover to go to a frame number on the main time line and then move the content of the drop down movie clip to that frame.
The drop down panel now work and the child buttons animation now work as well. I just had to find a way to make the drop down panel disappear on rollout. Since I could not script the actual drop down panel I created three skinny invisible buttons and placed them on the right, left and button of the drop down panel. I scripted them to go back to frame 1 on both rollover and rollout. Done.

Spry region drop-down list problems in IE

Can someone please help me determine the reason that IE does not display the correct item in a spry region drop-down list when first opening the site. You can see the problem at http://www.minursemap.org/agedistnurse.html. The initial item in the drop-down list should be Alcona with the corresponding graphic displayed in the detail region. In Firefox, this works correctly. When first opening the page in IE, the graphic is Alcona, but the drop-down list displays Wexford (the last item in the list). From then on, all of the links work correctly.
The code for the two regions is below. Thanks in advance for assisting someone new to spry.

Spry Vertical Drop Down Menu- Links Moving about!

Hi Everyone.
I wondered whether anyone might be able to tell me what I am doing wrong?
When I go to create a spry vertical drop down menu using images instead of text as the links - all of my links jump slightly to the right. Or, in the case of sub-menus - slightly down.
I have put together a dodgy example below. I don't understand why it is moving the images around.. What am I doing wrong?
Apart from removing the original text and pressing insert > image object > rollover image - I have not changed any significant settings on the spry menu.
Edit: I have also tried adding "position: absolute;" tags to the spry coding, but it hasn't made any difference.

Please let me know how you can post code?

Horizontal drop down menu not staying open?

Hi there again,
So now I'm attempting to create a horizontal drop down menu. It is meant to be a vertical tab that sticks out, expands to the right, then expands and drops down.
However, when I hover over the button (which is the blue box) and click it, Flash thinks I'm clicking the button on the bottom. The technique I used to do it must be the problem. I'm using a button inside a button. (In place of the "over" state of my buttons, I have inserted a movie clip of which in itself are layers). I've tried so many things to try to make it work to no avail.
There must be an easier way to accomplish what I am doing...but as I've said before, I'm noob and experimenting.

When you roll over the purple rectangle, it expands to the right. You have to move the cursor to the right to get the rectangle to expand down, exposing the blue rectangle. The problem that you see when you roll over the blue rectangle is because the rollover on the blue rectangle causes a rollout on the object below and this causes the rectangle below to shrink up.
You can control this, but you'll need to use Actionscript to achieve the effect. Here's a link to one way: http://www.senocular.com/pub/kirupa/as3tips_p6.html.

Horizontal drop down menu trouble

I am trying to make a horizontal drop down menu which is
located at the top of my page, right on top of an

in IE when it is on it's own page, without the image, etc.

I have quickly looked at your markup and found too many problems to discuss here. What I have found so far
There is no DOCTYPE
SpryMenuBarHorizontal is doubled up
There is extensive use of absolute position where it is not neccessary

Can't get the "Choose signature" drop down menu to work

I have changed my mail signature and can't get the "Choose signature" drop down menu to work. It is Grayed out and I can't use it as a choice, thus I don't have any signature when composing mail.

Menu drop downs don't drop down

When I click on the menu bar items, the drop downs don't always happen.
If I open a preference-- like date-time and make a change, then the drop downs start working again.
This happens some times after booting up and sometimes its OK. Once it does not work after boot, I have to make a change to a preference (just any change) to get it to work.
I am just concerned that this means something else-- that I don't see is not working correctly.
I do have Symantec antivirus running and its menu item is te only one that seems to always work (its the exception).
So how do I fix it.

First thing to try is to get rid of anything from Symantec.
