what I want to do is use the values in the spry datasets and

You can get to the array of rows in the data set via the
getData() call. Look here for info:

Hi, I've been trying to figure out how to pull data out of my SQL Server databases and from reading some posts and doing some tests with examples, I can kind of get data connecting into my SQL server, but so far nothing that helps. Is it possible to actually get data out of a SQL Server database without using the Database COnnectivity Toolkit? and if so, how? are there whitepapers and/or examples of this? I haven't ever done it before in LabVIEW and don't have the time to do much of the research right now.
That having been said, you will want to look for either a .NET library or an ActiveX control. Aside from the toolkit, you aren't going to find a native solution to LabVIEW - which means using other libraries. A quick google search returns this:

       But problem is alv occupying more space in the output , i want to display data part only i dont want field names,

Does you mean that you need ALV without default Function Toolbar...? If this is the case, the easy solution would have been to use Table Element rather. But, if you need to use ALV only without Function Toolbar, you can do away with that as well.
In that case, after calling GET_MODEL, you need to add few more lines of codes to achieve your goal. Those lines are --

Here as you can easily notice that LV_VALUE is instantiated on CL_SALV_WD_CONFIG_TABLE. Now, using this LV_VALUE, you set standard functions as False to dis-allow their display.

I am trying to set up a parameter query using ODBC-Microsoft Query
to BMC Remedy The ODBC connection is "AR System ODBC Data Source".
I want to pass a parameter to modified date field and get all the remedy tickets for which the modified date is<= to the passed parameter date.
So in MS query, SQL-
the query looks like
WHERE ("Trouble Ticket"."Create Date">={ts '2014-10-01 00:00:00'}) AND ("Trouble Ticket"."Modified-date"<=?)

Here are the errors I get:
The field "DREF" is unknown, but there is a field with the similar name "OREF" . . . .
When I replace itr by OREF I get:
"OREF" is not a data reference variable.
I then try to change it to dref_tab. I get:
"DREF_TAB" is not a data reference variable.
Any idea? By the way, must there be a HANDLE event for this to work?

Spry xml data set, accessing specific rows

Hello. I've been trying to build a website using Spry XML
Data Sets, and while I've accomplished my goals for now, I don't
think the solution I came up with is the best.
The website consists of several areas that show projects.
Each project has several fields that are to be filled with content
retrieved from the xml files, but the projects are not all exactly
alike and some have specific fields that others don't require.
All the info is available in several languages, so for now
I've created an xml file for each one. An xml file could be like
Code Part1. (Why I can't add several code snippets along the post
baffles me. I mean, I can't, right?)
This dataset, for simplicity purposes, is not dependent on
the language (Code Part2).
And then there are the content areas (Code Part3).
So as you see, each project has its own structure. This makes
using spry:repeat a not very effective method for filling in all
the content. Ideally I should be able to access each row in the
dataset through some sort of value, like id, or one of its
children's values. The ds_RowID depends on the row order, so unless
there's another way to use it, it doesn't solve my problem.
Here's what I've come up with (Code Part4).
This works (in FF3 OSX, at least), although there are some
other problems that might make it necessary to create a spry:region
(or at least use spry:repeat) for each field. Anyway, it sounds
silly and wasteful to go through every row of the dataset everytime
for each of the fields that need to be filled.
My hope is that I'm ignorant of some much better method of
achieving my goals, something more direct and elegant.
Can anyone help me out with this? Thank you very much in
advance.

You are indeed absolutely correct a spry region should have been shown, my appologise for that, the code is wrapped in a standard spry region.
That being said i have used a work around in the SQL SELECT statement of the xmlExportObj, Recordset to find the information required without having to do any IF, ELSE on the page.

How can I get a date without the hour from sql server 2000 ?

I have a JTable, and one of it's columns has to show a date. This date i have to show is specified as datetime on the Sql Server 2000 database where I have to take the data.
the query of the dataset attached to the JTable is something like "select * from Table".
The problem is that the JTable column that displays the date shows the date and the hour, for example:
7/10/04 0:00:00
and I need to show the date without the hour, only the 7/10/04. Can anyone tell me how to do that?

The easiest way to format a date is with java.text.SimpleDateFormat. When creating it you pass a format string which can be used to parse or format date objects.
SimpleDateFormat formater = new SimpleDateFormat( "MM/dd/yyyy" );

String formatedDate = formater.format( foundDate );Now the JTable's table model can be adjusted to store a formated String instead of a Date. If for some reason it is required to store the value as a Date overload the table model to return the formated string when getValueAt is called.

Error specifying spry xml data source?

I have been using Dreamweaver's Spry XML Data Sets without any trouble until I added the calendar YUI widget. After that I get an error message "no expected entity name for reference (65, 23)". Also nothing shows in the Bindings Panel. I have a Mac OS X, which I find very frustrating after being on a PC for 15 years. I can never find anything I am looking for in the help section.
Here is what I have tried so far that has not worked.
1. Removed the YUI extension
2. Deleted the ******.dat file from the configuration folder in the library user folder
3. Renamed the configuration folder in the library user folder
4. Copied the configuration library folder from my functioning laptop
5. Uninstalled and reinstalled Dreamweaver CS4
I can code everything by hand, but that is very time consuming and makes this software a virtual paper weight.
I would appreciate any advise that could be offered.

The preferences files for Mac programs is in your user account folder/Library/Preferences. The files that DW and other applications create end in .plist. These files are creating by Mac OS for many different applications. If you delete one, the OS will re-create another preferences file upon the next opening of the application.
Also the other files that DW saves during a re-install are saved only if you go through the uninstall process and enable that option. This is the same for the Windows version. Sometimes if there are strange errors you can contact Adobe support for general information.
If not and you need to do a re-install I would recommend de-activating first. Then running the adobe CS# clean tool. Just type that phrase into Google and you will find it as the top result for CS3 or CS4.

Those do more than just remove the program. They will remove all components in the applications folder and shared in the user library and system library. That is the only true way to do a re-install as far as I know. But you will need to de-activate before doing this because it will erase every file and all serial numbers from all Adobe programs with this tool.

Including HTML tags in Spry XML data sets

How does one add HTML tags to Spry XML data sets so that the displayed items include that markup?
For example, I might want to bold-face words within XML data items. I have tried adding the markup, but instead of seeing, for example:
This is bold face
in the Spry table, I see:
This is bold face
I have tried using CDATA elements in the XML to no avail.

Set the data type for the column as per

Getting metadata for FMs where data structure elements also have structure

I'm sorry if this is a double post, but I added this initially to a thread that was already set to answered, and I'm not sure of the protocol - if there will be any further responses if that is the case, so I'm opening this new threas as well.
I've been using RFC_GET_FUNCTION_INTERFACE and RFC_GET_STRUCTURE_DEFINITION successfully for a number of years, but now I have a problem. Some FMs, like /POSDW/CREATE_TRANSACTIONS_EXT, have parameters that have structures, whose elements also have structure. But RFC_GET_STRUCTURE_DEFINITION does not give a handle to get the structure of a returned data element.
Does anybody know how I can work around this?

some of the things not covered in this are
1. all types for which CALL FUNCTION 'RFC_GET_NAMETAB' is not returning result, you can call CALL FUNCTION 'RFC_GET_STRUCTURE_DEFINITION' directly. I have not covered that in this code. Hope this is helps in resolving your issue.
Also, the code is not optimized. So there is some scope for optimization of this code.

Possible to hit enter on table cell & retrieve data without selecting line?

Hi All,
We're using ECC6. I I have a situation where the user wants to be able to hit a cell in a table which will then fire a report and pass the contents of that cell to the report.
So far I have been only able to get this working when the row is highlighted, I can easily pick up the values from the lead selection. But the user does not want to have to highlight a row every time to run the report. The user just wants to hit return a cell and for the report to be updated with the value in that cell.
So, I'm just wondering if it is possible to hit enter in any table cell and retrive the data without highlighting the row?

Basic q's, without selecting a row how can we get data? without selecting means you get complete data on table,
In that case which data you have to pass to report?
Or if you dont want to select data means, create one more field of type button. so in thins button action get that row data
and call report from here itself.

I will try to explain what I mean.
Let say someone asks a question and you are curious at what people may suggest as solutions. The interest could range from simple curiosity to "oh, I don't know how to do that, but would like to learn", or whatever reason that would cause someone to revisit a thread.
But the interest is weak enough that you do not want to subscribe to the discussion. And the topic is not something you want to tag because it is an unusual thread that is unlikely going to re-occur, and you are not sure if you will or will not revisit after a solution is posted or the discussion goes a certain way.
Another example is if the question is interesting, you do not want to mark it because there is no answer / solution yet and you are curious if anyone would ever provide a solution, so you do not want to tag it and a subscription would be useless if no one replies.
OR
Maybe it is a hot topic of the day / week and that's it.. You would not revisit at a later date.
But for the moment, you want to easily find it during the day or have a reminder that you want to revisit the thread ether in the near future or later when someone has provided an answer.
Is there an easy way to mark threads that you want to re-visit? Like a "todo" list, but rather a "to re-visit" list...

Delicious is a website wher you can store URL for later use/retrieval. For every link you add you can add some tags, a description, and you can share them with others.
I'm not using it for the use you have in mind, but it would be an idea. I have set up a special Mouse Gesture in Firefox that creates a delicious entry for the current page.
I use delicious heavily when I am looking on the internet for a solution to a specific problem, what happens during such a search is that you see 20-30 pages that look promising but only 3 are actually on topic. Sometimes it turns out one of the 'not so good pages' are actually googd pages, but 3 days later you don't know exactly the search term you used, or you are on another PC and it's hard to trace back your steps on the WWW. So by using Delicious I can easily create a list of pages on a particular topic.

Answers report displaying 0s even though SQL returns data from sqlplus

I created a few measures in the RPD and when I run a report against them I get all zeros. I pulled the query from the session log and I ran it from SQL Plus and found that the query generated by BI Server was actually returning data (numbers other than zeros) from the SQL plus prompt.
However for some reason those numbers are not being displayed in Answers.
The report is a simple one with name and count as 2 columns. The count column is showing all zeros.
When I put a filter on the report on the name column, i do get a record without the zero.
Can someone let me know if I am missing something ?

Can you copy paste the query here so we would understand the problem and exactly whats going wrong?
You are saying count column.count() of what are you taking??And whats the filter your applying??

How to Return Data Update

I have two questions here.
How do I return the full data set.
(and with a callback would be nice.)
How do I send a single record back to
the server. (callback would be nice here also)
What I am trying to do is make a complete editor example for
the Mid=Michigan ColdFusion User Group meeting on Tuesday. This
would be great way to show off spry! (Data in row, select and shows
detail in side view, select edit and it hides the detail and pulls
up edit view/ which could be for new or edit actually, and lastly
submits the data to the server. If submit is successful... which is
why I desire the call back... I need to get the result back from
CF... then it will update the data/or add data accordingly.) Looks
like I will use the accordian to show the edit/detail view so they
can swap back and foward. We will enjoy seeing the new features of
the effects when that day comes.
OH, I will not be attending in person... this code is going
to get packaged and needs to be online tomorrow evening. So if you
guys could give some quick tips on that... will be on a 13 hour
work day... so not much time to build it. Currently I am aquainted
with prototype but want to do this as spry as I can.)
