Spry Table and Changing Style

I want to change the style in a detailregion depending on content. Therefore I need a way to determine which row in the spry table is active. Somehow like this:
if(talent.rowNumber == 0) {
     document.getElementById('bioTall').style.color = '#660099';
     else if(talent.rowNumber == 1) {
     document.getElementById('bioTall').style.color = '#559944';
     else if(talent.rowNumber == 2) {
     document.getElementById('bioTall').style.color = '#449922';
     else if(talent.rowNumber == 3) {
     document.getElementById('bioTall').style.color = '#228844';
     else {
     document.getElementById('bioTall').style.color = '#000000';
I know that rowNumber is not what I am looking for. What can I use?

Thanks Gramps,
This one's the ticket. I had to change "onDataChanged" to "onCurrentRowChanged" and add the script to call the scroll function.
Here is what it looks like now:
var bioObserver = new Object;
bioObserver.onCurrentRowChanged = function(dataSet, data) {
          var rowNumber = 1 + talent.getCurrentRowNumber(0);
if(rowNumber == 1) {
          alert("Current row number is " + rowNumber);
          document.getElementById('bioTall').style.height='360px';
          document.getElementById('bioTall').style.color = "#220088"; }
if(rowNumber == 2) {
          alert("Current row number is " + rowNumber);
          document.getElementById('bioTall').style.height='630px';
          document.getElementById('bioTall').style.color = "#109966"; }
if(rowNumber == 3) {
          alert("Current row number is " + rowNumber);
          document.getElementById('bioTall').style.height='315px';
          document.getElementById('bioTall').style.color = "#991166"; }
if(rowNumber == 4) {
          alert("Current row number is " + rowNumber);
          document.getElementById('bioTall').style.height='1350px';
          document.getElementById('bioTall').style.color = "#559911"; }
          var howhigh = document.getElementById('bioTall').style.height;
          alert('bioTall = ' + howhigh);
          $("#bioContainer").bioScrollbar("vertical",300,"easeOutCirc",1.05,"auto","yes","yes",2);
}; talent.addObserver(bioObserver);
I will remove the alerts and color of course. Here is the result: http://www.peermann.com/CCAI/artists/artists.html
Thanks again for your time and expertise.

  • Spry Tables and Xml Data Sets viewed in IE7

    Has anyone ever run into a problem with Spry Tables and Xml
    Data Sets viewed in IE7? Work fine in IE6 and Firefox, but get the
    error "exception caught while loading feed.xml: [object Error]" in
    IE 7. Any ideas?
    Attached is the xml I'm using.
    Thanks

    I came looking for the answer to this question. I could not
    find an answer. Eventually I found it the answer that worked for
    me, a graphic designer with not much experience in xml.
    The following url provided an errata file in PDF format:
    www.peachpit.com/dwcs3cib
    which includes the following addendum to the incomplete
    instructions in the book i was using to learn about spry:
    "If Internet Explorer 7 is your primary browser, you'll nee
    to take some extra steps to view spry dynamic content locally.
    First, your site must be within the local server webroot; be sure
    your Lessons folder is stored within the Inetpub>wwwroot folder.
    Next, double-click the site name in the files panel to open the
    Site Definition dialogue. Click the Testing Server category; from
    the Access List choose Local/Network. Click Okay to close the Site
    Definition dialogue. Now, when you preview your page with Internet
    Explorer, your local Web server (localhost) serves the page as
    designed."
    Horray for me! Now i can move on from here and actually get
    some work done!

  • How to update Spry-table and present the updated table in a div element?

    Hello!
    I am using a very interesting AJAX-framework called Spry when designing a web page. Here the web page is: Link.
    I need some help.
    Every time a new project or shift is added, the changes are written to an xml-file. When the page is reloaded, Spry reads data from xml-files.
    This is caused by this code:
    dsProjects = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("timetable/projects.xml", "projects/project");
    dsShifts = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("timetable/{dsProjects::url}", "project/shift"); //look inside projects.xml and //extrac xml-file. url
    dsName = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("timetable/{dsProjects::url}", "project");
    I call this function that I have written: loadProjectsIntoDivElement ().
    This function does the following: [See attached code.]
    It iterates through the Spry-datastructure and puts the data in a table inside of the div-element called 'projectsList'.
    Now, when I add a new project, I want it to be inserted into the Spry-datastructure and then cause the new data to be written into the div element called 'Specials_DIV'.
    I have found out how to update a Spry-datastructure (e.g. dsProjects above), but I don't know how to update the table containing the data without refreshing the page. This should be done using Spry.
    Some code:
    1:
    2:
    3:
    function loadProjectsIntoDivElement () {
    $('#projectsList').html('');
    $('#projectsList').append('<table id="Specials_Table"><tr><th spry:sort="id">ID</th><th spry:sort="NAME">Name </th><th spry:sort="hoursestimated">Nr. of hours estimated</th><th spry:sort="hoursworked">Nr. of hours worked</th><th spry:sort="costperhour">Cost per hour.</th></tr>{function::init_hours}<tr spry:repeat="dsProjects" onclick="chooseProject({ds_RowID})"><td>{id}</td><td>{NAME}</td><td>{hoursestimated}</td><td>{hoursworked}</td><td>{costperhour}</td></tr></table><br/>{function::get_hours}<br/>');
    I have tried to accomplish this in various ways but I don't succeed.
    I want to do it without refreshing the page.
    Update: I found some code here that I will try: Link
    Thanks in advance!

    My blog

    Hello!
    Thanks!
    I don't succeed with the implementation in any browser.
    I have found a way to it, but I would like a way that updates the data quicker and without reloading all of the page. After all, I am only adding one row on the end of the data structure, so there should be no need to read in all data again.
    Now I do it like this:
    When a project is added, do this:
    1. Store a new row in the project file through a php script.
    2. When the post-call to the php-file returns, do refresh of the whole page.
    Then the newest version of the xml file will be read in.
    However, I don't want to read the data from a xml file each time that a new project is created.
    I know how to add the new data to a Spry-datastructure [in my code 'dsProjects'], but I don't know how to display the updated data without reloading the whole page.
    I have tried some various ways to do it, but haven't succeded.
    Thanks!

  • How can I export table and cell styles to use in another InDesign document?

    I've been looking…and looking but can't find out how to export table styles within InDesign CC. If there is a load table styles option within the panel, it stands to reason there should be an export. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    Frank,   John's solution is it.    But that also requires that you have those old files easily on hand to access.  Maybe even searching for them in the future, 3 months down the road, could be a pain.   You can always save a Library for that file and drag some of those styled elements into that library.   Save the library in a place that you will keep access to and readily pull assets from.   In the future doc open that library and drag the styled element into your new document and the styles are now in the new doc to reuse.   I have a library saved just for tables.

  • Create/find tables and apply style

    Hello,
    I'm very new to scripting. I want to learn the basics like creating a table, creating anchored frames, textframes, etc.
    Now, I want to create/find tables in a document and I would like to apply styles. I saw a script to do this. When I paste the script in Extendscript CS4, than the program crash.
    The program crash in part 1. When I create another script with only part 2 (see //part 2) then there is no problem.
    What do i wrong? And can anyone tell me what part 1 of the script do?
    Thanks,
    // part 1
    // using your version; I'd prefer to return 0 if table not found
    function findTable(obj) {
             while (obj.constructor.name != "Table") {
            obj = obj.parent;
            if (obj.constructor.name == "Application") {
                throw "Can't find table"
        return obj
    // part 2
    var myTable = 0;
    if (app.documents.length > 0 && app.selection.length > 0)
        myTable = findTable(app.selection[0]);
    // check for at least enough rows for 1 top row, 1 body row, 1 bottom row
    if (myTable != 0 && myTable.rows.length >= 3) {
        // delete all rules; set insets to 0
        myTable.cells.everyItem().appliedCellStyle = "[None]";
        // format bottom row
        // (remember rows uses 0-based count)
        a = myTable.rows.length - 1;
        myTable.rows[a].cells.everyItem().appliedCellStyle = "4.cell_body_last";
        // format middle rows
        first = 1;
         last = myTable.rows.length - 2;
        for (a = first; a <= last; ++a)
            myTable.rows[a].cells.everyItem().appliedCellStyle = "3.cell_body";
        // format top row
        a = 0;
        myTable.rows[a].cells.everyItem().appliedCellStyle = "2.cell_header";

    Part 1 expects the text cursor to be anywhere inside a table -- either in the regular text, or with a cell, row, column, or the entire table selected.
    It walks "up" using its parent until it arrives at the table object itself.
    This will only work if the text cursor actually is anywhere inside a table. It does nothing when you are somewhere else, and it only works with the "current" table.

  • How do you have the bottom stroke of a table show up using Table Styles and Cell Styles only?

    I am using InDesign CS6, and I want to create a Table Style that has the bottom stroke show up, but does not have a table border, such as:
    However, whenever I try to change the Table or Cell strokes so that the last stroke shows up, I get the entire table border, or some strange combination of borders:
    Does anyone have any insight on how I can get the bottom stroke to show up while preserving my other stroke properties? Since I work with long documents, it's necessary to be able to control all of my tables through Table Styles and Cell Styles, and not by manually changing each and every table with the Stroke palette.
    For reference, here are the my current Table Style properties and the resulting table:

    Michael Murphy is the InDesign style-meister. He wrote "Adobe InDesign Styles" for Adobe Press, and did a great Lynda.com title on InDesign styling. Here's what he says in the book:
    "As mentioned at the beginning of this chapter, with all the power of table and cell styles, it is important to understand not only how they work and what they can do for you, but also to understand their limitations.
    "Two formatting features missing in table and cell styles have already been discussed: You will always have to set the column width and row height of cells when applying a table style for the first time, and you will always have to convert body rows to header and/or footer rows every time you apply a table style for first time or update the table's data....
    "But there's another kind of limitation that's important to keep in mind as you are designing tables: It is very easy to design a table that cannot be completely defined by a table style. In many cases, you'll need to define an extra cell style or two that lets you complete for formatting. [my emphasis]."
    So I think that's what you have to do: Apply another cell style on top of the cells at the bottom of the table after applying the table style.

  • Here's how to do ALV (OO) with dynamic fcat, int table and editable data

    Hi everybody
    Here's a more useful approach to ALV grid with OO using dynamic table, data NOT from DDIC, dynamic FCAT and how to get changed lines from the grid when ENTER key is pressed.
    It's really not too dificult but I think this is more useful than the ever present SFLIGHT methods from the demos.
    This also defines a subclass of cl_gui_alv_grid so you can access the protected attributes / methods of that class.
    You don't need to add the class via SE24 -- done fron this ABAP.
    When you run it click Edit for the first time.
    After editing data press ENTER and the break point should bring you into the relevant method.
    Code developed on NW2004S trial version but also works on rel 6.40 on a "Real" system.
    The code should work without any changes on any system >=6.40.
    All you need to do is to create a blank screen 100 via SE51  with a custom container on it called CCONTAINER1.
    The rest of the code can just be uploaded into your system using the SE38 upload facility.
    When running the program click on the EDIT button to enable the edit functionality of the grid.
    Change your data and when you press ENTER you should get the break-point where you can see the original table and changed rows.
    This program is actually quite general as it covers Dynamic tables, building a dynamic fcat where your table fields are NOT in the DDIC, intercepting the ENTER key via using an event, and accessing the protected attributes of the cl_gui_alv_grid by defining a subclass of this class in the abap.
    I've seen various questions relating to all these functions but none in my view ever answers the questions in a simple manner. I hope this simple program will answer all these and show how using OO ALV is actually quite easy and people shouldn't be scared of using OO.
    Have fun and award points if useful.
    Cheers
    Jimbo.

    Hi there
    IE7 doesn't give me the add new page option and I get 404 error when trying to access the "How to contribute" section.
    I'll load up Firefox later (this browser usually works when IE7 doesn't always work properly).
    I'll copy the stuff to the wiki when I've got the browser sorted out.

  • Populating Spry Table using button action and Nested XML

    Ah, yet another question.
    So I have a catalog page with a Spry repeating table. The XML
    has 2 sets of nodes -- one for outfits and one for line sheets (the
    technical drawings for clothes). What i want to do is have the
    outfits show and populate the table to start off with, but
    re-populate with the line sheet info if a user clicks on a button.
    currently the page is set up and works perfectly by sucking
    in the XML and populating the table. What I can't seem to do is get
    the button (when clicked) to switch the outfit info with the line
    sheet info.
    I have the following
    // javascript:
    var siracusafall08 = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("fall_collection.xml",
    "collection/siracusa/outfits", { filterFunc: MyPagingFunc });
    var siracusaLS = new
    Spry.Data.NestedXMLDataSet(siracusafall08, "linesheet",
    {filterFunc:MyPagingFunc });
    siracusafall08.setColumnType("photoURL", "image");
    siracusafall08.setColumnType("lrgphoto", "image");
    var pageOffset = 0;

    There's nothing in the documentation about using a button to
    repopulate a table. the Nested XML Data Sample page in the Spry
    documentation has been helpful in the past however this is more of
    a switch / toggle situation and frankly that kind of coding is a
    bit beyond my fine arts-trained skills.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    Hi Bit Crusher,
    Sorry for the delayed response ...
    Looking at your setup, you can get rid of most of the code in
    collection.js since you are using a pageSize of 1 ... if displaying
    only one row of a data set is all you ever need, then you can get
    the equivalent functionality by just using a spry:detailregion and
    a couple of prev()/next() functions. For example:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var siracusafall08 = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("fall_collection.xml",
    "collection/siracusa/outfits");
    siracusafall08.setColumnType("photoURL", "image");
    siracusafall08.setColumnType("lrgphoto", "image");
    var crepesfall08 = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("fall_collection.xml",
    "collection/crepes/outfits");
    crepesfall08.setColumnType("photoURL", "image");
    crepesfall08.setColumnType("lrgphoto", "image");
    function DSPrev(ds)
    var curRowNum = ds.getCurrentRowNumber();
    if (--curRowNum >= 0)
    ds.setCurrentRowNumber(curRowNum);
    function DSNext(ds)
    var curRowNum = ds.getCurrentRowNumber();
    if (++curRowNum < ds.getRowCount())
    ds.setCurrentRowNumber(curRowNum);
    </script>
    <div spry:detailregion="siracusafall08">
    </div>
    <div spry:detailregion="crepesfall08">
    </div>
    After you've simplified all that, the next thing I would do
    to get your linesheet switching working is to use "states". Take a
    look at these samples:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/data_region/RegionStatesSample.html
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/data_region/StateMappingSample.html
    The first link is some basic background on states, but what
    should be of interest to you is the 2nd sample. What I would do is
    have a "styles" and a "linesheet" state in my region.
    Also since you are using nested XML data, you will need to
    access your <linesheet> data with a NestedXMLDataSet:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/data_region/NestedXMLDataSample.html#Using NestedDataSets

  • Interactively changing values to table problem: indicator and control table, and why it does not work after a while...?

    I have been producing a VI that loads a set of data and displays it in a table: A table control is initialised with an empty variable, the loaded data takes the place of the variable and fills the table, while some headers are added. That table feeds an intensity graph to give a pictorial impression of the data.
    With this scheme, a user can change any value of the table, and the changes are interactively reflected on the graph.
    Problem: after few saving of the VI, the access to the table doesn't work anymore. It is the same with all my numerical controls in the VI where it should be possible to enter a value.
    If anybody has an idea on the potential
    causes of these problem, I would be really grateful as it is very useful...when it works !

    I can not image what is causing the error. Would you be willing to post some code to see if we can reproduce the problem?

    How to do this.. is ALE change pointer is any good for this purpose ?

    Hi Sam,
      In order to track the changes in the KONV table, go to table CDHDR and give objectclass and objectid, you will get all the details.
