Spybot causes firefox to give errors that it can't access some sites, even though other browsers still can; I reported the error to you before I knew.

Just letting you know I found the problem. I did not see that that fix was already reported anywhere.

Using the Firefox immunize with Spybot can cause problems. It dumps hundreds of block items into the permissions and really slows things down.

Okay, here is my answer to this problem. At least it fixed my problem and firefox now works fine.
Prior to this problem I was running zonealarm (free firewall) everything worked fine until I removed zonealarm free and installed Comodo free firewall. That is when the trouble started. firefox failed and IE kept working. I tried everything posted here nothing worked for me.
I resorted to "REGEDIT" and removed everything in my registry that regedit would allow that had the name of "zonealarm" on it. Didn't even have to reboot my system, firefox worked first thing. Everything else is fine also.
[note: this is not a slam against Lavasoft's ZoneAlarm firewall. It is just that UNINSTALL programs do not always do a thorough job of removing parts of programs in your systems and registry cleaner programs do not pick them up either.]
USE CARE, "REGEDIT" IS A POWERFUL AND DANGEROUS TOOL TO USE ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NOT A SOMEWHAT ADVANCED USER. USE CARE WITH "REGEDIT!"

Firefox can not access some sites that use identification system type "captcha." As you enter characters returns error response. With IE it does not.

My desktop using Win 7 Ultimate. On every page that gives error in entering the captcha characters, if you use Internet Explorer I get by with success.

hello edalsi, maybe one of your addons is interfering here - can you try launching firefox in safemode once and see if the problem is occurring there too...

The url is sometingh like this (this is correctly loaded, but it could be longer)

Firefox should have problems with long GET data appended to an URL (long would be over 64k).<br />
If there are problems then it is possible that an extension is the cause of that.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If the TOR Browser Bundle is installed you would have two versions of Firefox: the original Mozilla Firefox and the customized TOR Firefox. You can try to start the Firefox that was installed by TOR. If you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of TOR and TOR Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration areas/modules of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization etc. in addition to the main AV/Firewall module. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for TOR and TOR Firefox + its related processes. I am not getting an errr #. It just says that there are purchases on my ipod, not in my itunes. I transfer all of my ipod purchases into itunes. Then I try an download the new version of my ipod 7.1.1. It still says there are purchases on my ipod touch. So I just hit continue because their are not purchases on my ipod, that aren't in itunes. It extracts the software, and backs up ipod. Then itunes just closes. When I reopen it I get the same message A new iPod software version (7.1.1) is available for the iPod “My" iPodl”. Would you like to update your iPod now? My imac has recently been restored to as new, I have the newest ipod touch, and my version of itunes is also the newest version. The only thing that I can assume is that the problem, is another untested & bad update, from Capn Cook.
