SQL Command to select MAX(date) & Max(time)

My am having a really hard time getting a sql command to return data with the max(date) & max(time) combination. I think I need a sub query but can not figure it out. I have looked all over the internet but still don't understand it. Below is my command which returns the max date & max time but they are not from the same row of data. Please help.
SELECT  "labor"."order-no", "labor"."oper-no", MAX("labor"."end-date") AS myDate, Max("labor"."end-time") AS myTime
FROM   "E940LIVE"."PUB"."tm-log" "labor"
WHERE  "labor"."order-no"='73153-bc' AND "labor"."company"='01'
GROUP BY  "labor"."order-no", "labor"."oper-no"

Progress does not support the DATEADD function. Waht if I forget the number is time and look at it just as a number. Here is my data and what I have tried (again I don't understand the multiple select concept yet).
Data
oper-no   end-date    end-time
  20      2/2/2010     41,975
  30      2/3/2010     45,906

  • Sql command not working with date time??

I am using my own sql query to fetch data in the sql command.
Due to the problem I found - here is the basic example:
    The sql is:
    select to_number(to_date('10/11/2011 10:23:00','dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss') - to_date('10/11/2011 10:20:00','dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss'))  minu  from dual
But I am not getting anything in Crystal Report tool!!
In any sql tool I get results.
When I am not using time part (hh24:mi:ss) :
    select to_number(to_date('10/11/2011','dd/mm/yyyy') - to_date('09/11/2011','dd/mm/yyyy'))  minu
    from dual
    I am getting data!!!!
    What is the problem??
Initially I had it with parameters of type 'Date Time'
Please, any one knows what the problem is?

    Hi,
Sorry for the delay and thanks for answering.
    It was partial solution
Moving to oracle driver, not (OLE DB), this specific one worked fine:
    select to_number(to_date('10/11/2011 10:23:00','dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss') - to_date('10/11/2011 10:20:00','dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss'))*100 minu from dual
    BUT
When I tried to change one of the hardcoded values to be parameter of type 'Date Time' I couldn't pass the validation step - mostly the errors:
"ORA 00900 Invalid sql statment"   and
"ORA - 00907: Missing right parnthesis"
No matter which format I used.
    Last version is:
    select to_date('{?tsStartReport}','yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss') from dual
Any idea why 'Date Time; is so problematic? How can I workaround it?

  • SQL query problem - select max (case... aggregate function)

    Hi,
I have a problem with below sql query, it gives me problem/error message 'ORA-00937: not a single-group group function', why?

    group by sag.afdeling, sag.sagsnr, sag.start_dato, sag.stat, BOGF_TRANS.TRANSTYPE

  • SQL command to select first record

I would like to create an SQL command to link two tables on a field so that only the first matching record is selected. What would be the syntax for that? Thank you.

Actually, that's not as simple as it sounds...  It also depends on your definition of "first", and what data you are looking for.
For example, if you are looking for the earliest order date for each of your customers, you could do something like:
    select customer.code, customer.name, min(order.date) as First_Order_Date
    from customer, order
    where customer.code = order.cust_code
    group by customer.code, customer.name
But if you also want the sales dollars for that first order, you'd have to do something like:
    select customer.*, firstOrder.first_order_date, sales.sales
    from customer
    join (
      select cust_code, min(date) as first_order_date
      from order
      group by cust_code
    ) firstOrder
    on customer.code = firstOrder.cust_code
    join (
select cust_code, date, sum(sales) as sales
      from order_detail
      group by cust_code, date
    ) sales
    on firstOrder.cust_code = sales.cust_code and firstOrder.First_Order_Date = sales.date

  • SQL Where clause when comparing dates and times in ASP

    Hello,
I am trying to pull data from my database which is dependant on both the date and time in HH24 format. So, my where clause looks something like this:
select * from thisTable where activity_time >= myCurrentDate
(myCurrentDate is a variable that is built which gives it the following format DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS)
So, the actual passed string to my call is:
    select * from thisTable where ACTIVITY_TIME >= '02-DEC-2008 18:22:00' order by ACTIVITY_TIME asc
However, when calling this, I get the famous "ORA-01830: date format picture ends before converting entire input string"
    Can anyone please help me?!?!?!?
    Thanks in advance

Enrique answered your immediate question, but I'd like to point up a broader issue, and that is that you should <b><u>always</u></b> use the TO_DATE and TO_CHAR functions at the sql statement level when working with date datatypes. That way you are never dependent on some default over which you have no control. I call that is 'defensive coding'.

  • Selection Screen - Date and Time

    Hi,
I have given a selection screen where the user needs to key in the input in the following format
    dd.mm.yyyy hh:mm:ss.
Reason is that the database fetching these elements accepts only in this criteria.
Now as they look into automating this program, they would want to automatically take the current system date and time - 24 hours .
How do I achieve this in the above format? If this is not possible, let me know if i can make the selection screen with normal sap date format and convert it to the above format on passing to the select statement.
    Regards
    Sam

    Hi Sam,
See this. Is this your requirement.
With this we are able to get Current time-stamp to selection parameter.
    REPORT ZTEST.
    DATA: L_TS TYPE TZNTSTMPS,
           L_TS_C TYPE CHAR14.
    PARAMETERS:
P_TMSTMP TYPE TMSTMP OBLIGATORY MEMORY ID TEST.
    INITIALIZATION.
       GET TIME STAMP FIELD L_TS.
       MOVE L_TS TO L_TS_C.
SET PARAMETER ID  'TEST' FIELD L_TS_C.
    The output is
    Jogeswara Rao K

  • Select key date of time-dependent hierarchy before select a hierarchy node

    Hello experts!
I have a Web Application which has a selection on 0ORGUNIT (organizational unit). The selection is on hierarchy nodes and the hierarchy is time-dependent.
Because of the time-dependency I have to give a key date for the hierarchy. But I want to select the key date at runtime/execution of the query and additionally I want to select the hierarchy node and other selection criterias.
Maybe there is a solution to get all this in one pop-up or maybe in two or another solution how I can implement this requirement.
    Thanks for help!
    Peter

    Hey!
You don't have to use the same presentation-hierarchy like  the selection-hierarchy is which you use for the variable. While presentation-hierarchy always has a key-date, the selection-hierarchy has none. So you see all values for selection but just this which are valid for the presentation-hierarchy are selected. And there is a warning which you can supress over RSRT.
This solution works for our problem, maybe not for yours, don't know.
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • Designing View to select Date with Time

    Hi,
How can we design the view to select the date along with time?
We know that we can provide drop downs for hours, minutes and seconds.
Is there any alternative to display UI element to select the date and time. I am in 7.0 SP17
    Thanks

    Hi Tatayya Marni,
For selecting the Date and Time u can try a workaround. First create a simple type of type date and bind it to an Input Field so that the date can be captured and for the for the time u can use the System Date and using the same SystemDate u can get the Time in Hours, Minutes and Seconds.
Eg  :- store the SystemDate in a Date variable and to get the hour u can use Date.getHours(), getMinutes
        Date dt = new Date(System.currentTimeMillis());
        dt.getHours(),dt.getMinutes(),dt.getSeconds());
    Hope this works dor u.

  • Passing Parameter from Main report to SQL command-based subreport

I am trying to cut down the run time of my reports and have recently figured out how to write SQL commands to limit the data by filtering prior to being pulled into the reports.  However, many of my reports rely on multiple sub reports, which can cause a dramatic 'drag' on the report.
I am trying to filter the SQL command used in my sub report by passing the group parameter, which is selected by the user in the main report, to the sub report's SQL command.  Without this parameter, the sub report has to sort through a lot more data than it would with this parameter, making the run time extremely slow.
Any suggestions on how I can accomplish this?
Thanks for any help you can provide,

    Hi Marlene,
I don't believe you can pass a CR parameter to a Command object.
I suggest replacing all of the Command Objects with a Stored Procedure so all of the data filtering is done server side. DB servers are much more proficient at collecting the data and filtering than CR will ever be. It will also allow you to replace subreports to also speed up your report processing. All depends on your layout of course but something to look at.
    Thank you

  • Dynamic SQL Command Queries Using Parameters

    Post Author: tdoman
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
I'm using Crystal Reports 11 and am trying to dynamically build part of the "Where" clause in the SQL command query to filter data on the server before the results are sent to the client. I'm doing this to decrease the load time of my reports by not having to send a large set of data to the client, then filter the results on the client side.
I want to create a parameter list that is dynamically generated from a table in a database and allows you to select mutiple values from that list. For example: I have two tables. One employee table and one employee type table. The employee table lists all employees and their related employee types (full-time, part-time, and contractor). The employee type table lists the employee types that will dynamically be loaded into the parameters list.
    Employee Table
    ID    Name       TypeID
    1     Bob          2
    2     Steve        1
    3     John         3
    4     Bill            1
    Employee Type Table
    ID   Type
    1     Full-Time
    2     Part-Time
    3     Contractor
Assuming the user selects u2018Full-Timeu2019 and u2018Contractoru2019 from the parameter list, the SQL command query I want to generate is as follows:
    SELECT *
    FROM emp, emp_type
    WHERE emp.ID = emp_type.ID and emp.TypeID in (u20181u2019, u20183u2019)
I tried building the following SQL command query so it would dynamically replace {?EmpType} with the IDu2019s of the types the user selected but it doesnu2019t work. Any ideas how to fix this?
    SELECT *
    FROM emp, emp_type
    WHERE emp.ID = emp_type.ID and emp.TypeID in ({?EmpType})

    Post Author: tdoman
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
btw...I just realized I had a typo in my "where" clause of the previous example. It should have been like so:WHERE emp.TypeID = emp_type.ID and emp.TypeID in (u20181u2019, u20183u2019)  satish_nair31:
Instead of passing the filter condition as parameter it would be fine if you pass it by ReportViewer.SelectionFormula Property.
The selection formula property of report viewer control will dynamically append the where condition with the SQL value. You will pass the filter condition as per the syntax of language supported by crystal reports.I believe using the ReportViewer.SelectionFormula property you are referring to is only available if I'm loading the report through a VB application. If this is true, then this option will not work for me because I'm loading the report in a browser from the Crystal Report web server and currently don't have a VB application that can load the report. If I did, then I could dynamically build the SQL string using VB then pass it to the Crystal Report on the fly.But I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to do it without loading the report using VB. Please correct me if I'm wrong on these assumptions.

  • Manipulating imports or photos events dates and times

It's a simple question and obviously related to the subject, but I'm trying to find out if it is possible to manipulate imports of images from an I device, we have an Apple Mac that has images on spreading over 3years, obviously with the event dates and times logged, but between each of the photos there are thousands of other images, therefore I would like to know if it is possible to slip images into iPhoto between these thousands of images and alter the date and time of the import or image
plus is there any way I can bring import logs up within iPhoto?

iPhoto has two ways to change the date of photos.
From the Photos menu select "Adjust Date and time". That will let you shift the dates of all selected photos by a fixed amount.
Or use "Photos > Batch Change". This way you can set the date of photos to a fixed date and time, with a optional increment between the photos. This is very useful for scans, where no capture date has been recorded.
To change the dates of events, change the date of the photos inside, or split the events, if you want to insert a different event in between. You can split an event by sorting the photos according to date and selecting a photo in the event. Then use the command "Events > Split event".

  • Mixing SQL Command parameters and UI created parameters

CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
I'm using Crystal Reports XI.  I've created a report with an SQL Command - no other tables or views. I want to allow my users to be able to choose data from a dynamic parameter and have the SQL read that and spit out the results. I was able to add a parameter to the SQL using the Parameter column in the Command window. This allows my user to type in a parameter. However, when I run the report after creating a parameter using the UI (i.e. Field Explorer/Parameters/right clicking and selecting "new" and then adding the parameter to a field using the selection wizard), i first get a screen that shows me the parameter that I created in the SQL Command window, then I get a screen that shows me the UI created parameters. How can I make it show only one screen with all the parameters?  -Marc
