SQL Conectivity error (1418) on SQL Mirroring in SQL Server_2014 Enterprises
I perform this subjected task/activity in DOMAIN environment with Multiple VPN.
No matter what I try, I constantly run into a 1418 error, I've check all my tcp/ip configs both in sql,
and the server 2012 os, on both vms/physical machine. I’ve
enabled tcp/ip filtering and allowed all connections, rulessets in firewall, I’ve used telnet to connect up. Nothing
seems to work. Each
server can ping the other, they can telnet into 5022, & 5023 as well. I don’t know where to proceed from here. Is
there some config somewhere or issues with vms that I am not seeing? All
the machines in the mirroring array are server 2012 with same SQL 2014 Ent edition. Now please guide as what can we do to go at next Step....!
Regards,
Zeeshan
Hi Zeeshan,
Please check the following, have you checked the error log? Share the error screenshot here in order to verify the issue.
Make sure that the mirror database is ready for mirroring.
Make sure that the name and port of the mirror server instance are correct.
Make sure that the destination mirror server instance is not behind a firewall.
Make sure that the principal server instance is not behind a firewall.
Verify that the endpoints are started on the partners by using the state or state_desc column the of the sys.database_mirroring_endpoints catalog view. If either endpoint is not
started, execute an ALTER ENDPOINT statement to start it.
Make sure that the principal server instance is listening on the port assigned to its database mirroring endpoint and that and the mirror server instance is listening on its port. For more information, see "Verifying Port Availability," later in this
topic. If a partner is not listening on its assigned port, modify the database mirroring endpoint to listen on a different port.

Hi,
As I am going to configure Database Mirroring in sql server 2008 R2. It is giving error 1418.
The server network address "TCP://xyzserver.domain.con:5022" can not reached or does not exist. Check network address name and that the ports for the local and remote endpoints sre operational.(Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 1418)
I have tried the below steps:
1. ALTER ENDPOINT Mirroring FOR DATA_MIRRORING (ROLE = PARTNER, ENCRYPTION = SUPPORTED)
2. ALTER DATABASE PROD_DB SET PARTNER = 'TCP://xyzserver.domain.Com:5022'
3. DROP ENDPOINT Mirroring
SELECT *
FROM sys.endpoints
4. CREATE ENDPOINT Mirroring
STATE = STARTED
AS TCP ( LISTENER_PORT = 60801 )
FOR DATABASE_MIRRORING (
AUTHENTICATION = WINDOWS KERBEROS,
ENCRYPTION = SUPPORTED,
ROLE=ALL);
SELECT state ,state_desc FROM sys.database_mirroring_endpoints
3. GRANT CONNECT ON ENDPOINT::Mirroring TO ALL
4. GRANT CONNECT ON ENDPOINT::Mirroring TO SA
WITH GRANT OPTION;
GO
I have tried all above the steps. But still I can not resolve the issue.
Can anyboby help me?
Sachin JainPlease check below points
Make sure that the mirror database is ready for mirroring.
Make sure that the name and port of the mirror server instance are correct.

To identify the listening ports and the processes that have those ports opened, follow these steps:
Obtain the process ID.
To learn the process ID of an instance of SQL Server, connect to that instance and use the following Transact-SQL statement:
SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('ProcessID')
Match the process ID with the output of the following netstat command:
netstat -ano
also please check local host file are set-up correctly ipaddress and hostnames for (principal, mirror and witness)

This 3rd time I followed this link. But nothing new, same error.
Can you please tell me how to do follow, I cannt do the 1st step, how to change the local system to windows level account, vice-versa. It is shown mine as
Server Configuration Manager(Local)
From here I folllowed the steps ---[I cannt insert link/image :-(]
SQL 2008/R2 setup fails with "Wait on the database engine recovery handle failed"
If I right clicked on SQL Server Service, there is no option to change the account.
Hello,
Thanks for your patience, did you tried stesp mentioned in below article
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqljourney/archive/2012/03/16/sql-2008-r2-setup-fails-with-quot-wait-on-the-database-engine-recovery-handle-failed-quot.aspx
To resolve it, follow these steps:-
When the installation throws this error, click on OK and allow it to proceed. It will fail for Database Engine, but the SQL Server service should have
been created. Check the Services console.
If the service is present, perform the following steps:-
1. Go to SQL Server Configuration manager, right click on the SQL Server service, and change the service account (if it is local system, give
it a windows level account, and vice-versa). It might throw a WMI error but you will see the account getting updated anyway. If not, then use the Services console. Change the account for SQL Agent as well.
Use this link to change sql server service account
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345578.aspx
2. Next, try to start the service. It should come online.
3. However, you will not be able to log in to the SQL Server
4. Now stop the service and start it from the command prompt using -m -c -T3608 parameters.
5. Now try logging in to the server using admin connection from sqlcmd (sqlcmd admin:<server name>\<instance name> ...)
6. Once logged in, use the sp_addsrvrolemember '<domain\username>','sysadmin'.
Also add the builtin/administrators to the sysadmin role
7. Now stop the service from the command prompt and start it from SQL Server configuration manager
You should be able to log in to the server now.
Hope this helps someone.
Please revert if it helps or even if it does not

Interestingly, after the job fails thru our batch scheduler environment, when I run the same script that's being used in the batch scheduler, the job completes successfully.
Also, this is first time, I saw this kind of error message.
Appreciate any help or any suggestions to find a resolution. Thanks,Hii Priya,
The reasons may be the file is open, the format/flatfile structure is not correct, the mapping/transfer structure may not be correct, presence of invalid characters/data inconsistency in the file, etc.
Check if the flatfile in .CSV format.
You have to save it in .CSV format for the flatfile loading to work.
Also check the connection issues between source system and BW or sometimes may be due to inactive update rules.

Hope this helps.

SQL connection errors when stress testing mobile service: SQL failure after 3 attempts
I have created a Mobile Service (node.js), which has been running for a few months with 50-100k api calls per day with no issues.
The usage of the service will be scaled up soon, and it will receive much higher traffic, so I am running stress tests (on a staging deployment of the same service).
The api in question queries data from the sql database that is attached to the mobile service, but caches the resulting data in a redis database for 5 minutes, so each call with identical parameters will not access the SQL database, just the redis cache.
My first test never has any problems:
Run a single api calls as fast as possible using the program wrk (https://github.com/wg/wrk). This test never has a problem, and I have run it an hour continuously with a sustained rate of 200 req/s and very few timeout errors.
The second test always causes problems:
I created a list of 5 different api calls to the same service (same endpoint, but different parameters), and I run those randomly interweaved as fast as possible. I use the program locust (http://locust.io) for this, spawing 10.000 clients at a rate of 500
per second. For the first few seconds everything goes ok, but then connections start failing massively.
I get mostly:
Error: SQL failure after 3 attempts. Error: [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]TCP Provider: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected
host has failed to respond.
(SqlState: 08001, Code: 10060)
And I see this in the http response:
ConnectionError(ProtocolError('Connection aborted.', gaierror(8, 'nodename nor servname provided, or not known')),)
The strange thing is that since I am running the same five calls repeatedly, only the very first of each call will actually access the sql database, every subsequent call will just return data directly from redis, and not try to access the sql database at
all.
In the azure console for the sql database in question, I see 1860 successful connections and 11 failed connections, which does not explain the massive failure rate I am seeing. Thanks for sharing your tips on this forum, as it will be useful for other users, that run into this issue.
Feedback like this will also help us improve error reporting in the next release, as missing class files in the packaged application is a common issue when developers are moving from the embeded oc4j instance packaged with JDewveloper to standalone instances.

How to resolve Error: 1418 in sql server while mirroring
Hi Support,
I am trying to mirroring a database in sql server. I created a database and took a backup of it and restored on the another instance(i am using same server but with different instances). But after doing all operations and click on start mirroring, then it
showing following error.
The server network address "TCP://indserver.xxxx.local:5022" can not be
reached or does not exist. Check the network address name and reissue the command. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 1418)
I followed mirroring steps in this "http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/31325/Step-by-Step-SQL-Mirroring-the-ASPState-Database" Here it says, create an user on both principal and mirror server with the same credentials in STEP 3.So please provide
me solution for above error.Hi Pankaj Sharma,
According to your error message, we need to verify if you backup your database with full recovery model and restore this database to a mirror instance with NORECOVERY option. You need also verify all instances can access every other partner and make sure
endpoints are running properly, you have granted the SQL Service Account CONNECT permission to the listener on the other machine.
If after trying this you are still getting a 1418 error, here's a blog post with a couple of other things to check for:
http://blogs.msdn.com/grahamk/archive/2008/12/08/database-mirroring-error-1418-troubleshooter.aspx

SQL*LOADER ERROR 비교 (ORA-2359, ORA-1401)
==========================================
PURPOSE
SQL*LOADER 를 사용하는 경우 ORA-2359 ERROR가 나는 경우와
ORA-1401 ERROR가 나는 경우를 비교한다.
Examples
table 의 desc가 다음과 같다고 가정하자.
SQL> create table test5(a varchar2(1000));
이 경우 delimiter 가 comma 인지 position 으로 구분되는지에 따라 error
message가 달리 나타난다.
1) ORA-2359 : field in datafile exceeded maximum specified length
load data
infile test.dat
replace
into table test5
fields terminated by ','
(a char) 로 실행 시 발생.
---> a char(1000) 으로 하면 error 해결이 가능하다.
2) ORA-1401: inserted value too large for column
load data
infile test.dat
replace
into table test5
fields terminated by ','
(a position(1:2000) char)
---> 이 경우 a position (1:1000) char 로 하면 해결 가능하다 .
* 참고로 + , - 기호와 comma 를 load 하기 위해서는 decimal external을
사용한다. (a position decimal external (10))

Entry-SQL syntax error: CASE not allowed
Hello All. When I use sap netweaver developer to develop webdynpro applications, I always meet that jdbc error.
when using inner join, left join, or using case when in the sql, it will pop up Entry-SQL syntax error.
But I have run the sql in Microsoft SQL Server studio successfully.
The SQL statement "UPDATE SAPNWDDB.Z_SERIAL SET LASTSERIAL = CASE WHEN ENDWITH IS NOT NULL THEN CASE WHEN LASTSERIAL + 1 > ENDWITH THEN ISNULL(STARTWITH, 0) ELSE LASTSERIAL + 1 END ELSE LASTSERIAL + 1 END WHERE SERIALNO = ?" contains the syntax error[s]: - 1:43 - Entry-SQL syntax error: CASE not allowed
- 1:78 - Entry-SQL syntax error: CASE not allowed
- 1:124 - SQL syntax error: the token "(" was not expected here
Can someone help me? Thank you.Hi Arun Jaiswal ,
Thank you for your answer. But I have tried query in sql editor. Actually it can work. Other than "CASE" syntax, it seems not support inner join and left join in webdynpro either. I even can not query the db views.
That's imposible jdbc not support these simple syntex. I wonder there is any config control the sql compatibility level.
I have developped a java programm to test it. It is ok. No error. But the same case pop up error in java webdynpro application.I don't know why.

SQL Server Mirroring Error 1418
Hi,
I am currently setting up an SQL Server Mirror with only two Servers running SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard edition
My setup is using only a Principal and a Mirror with no Witness.
Port being used is 5022 on both servers. I am able to telnet the servers both ways
Only thing I noticed is that the endpoint name is different on each server.
I am able to complete the configuration using the wizard without any issue.
I however when starting the Mirror, I get the attached error message
ThanksHallo Nilesh,
did you run through the checklist with error 1418 here:

krishnaiah.Hi,
This is usually a SERVER SIDE DATABASE PROBLEM or SQLNET LISTENER (server side) PROBLEM. The client side should initially be ignored and instead the server should be investigated. In rare cases, this can be caused by client
side memory or other resource problem, or a DLL version mismatch, but this is
unlikely.
Enlist the assistance of your DBA. Then reproduce the ORA-3113 error on your
client application. Ask your DBA to look at the database side Alert.log and
trace files and look for ANY activity. Any activity that coincides with your
ORA-3113 will be a clue.
