SQL Developer 3.2.20.09: Cannot edit job when job type is based on a package.

Hi,
I feel this is some issue or bug when I am trying to edit an existing job. This job is based on a procedure within a package. However, if a job is based on stand alone a procedure then I can edit it.
The issue is when a job is based on a procedure within a package, the 'Edit' window is not popping up.
Is this a bug? If so, is it resolved in later versions? Currently, we are using 3.2.20.09. If it's not a bug, what's resolution/workaround?
Thank you.
Regards,
Manoj.

You can use the 32 or the 64 bit versions.
But if you want to use the OCI/thick stuff, the bit level will have to match, 32 bit SQLDev with 32 bit Oracle Client with 32 bit JDK. Same goes with 64.
When you download the 64 bit dist of SQLDev for windows, you'll need to get a 64bit JDK, and make sure you have a 64 bit Oracle Client if you want to use that.
If you need more info, I wrote up more detailed instructions here

  • SQL Developer and Oracle Database 10g Express Edition, Connection Problem

    I am using SQL Developer version 1.2.1 and am connecting to a 10g database on a windows xp.
    Up until today there have been no problems with the connection. When I tried to connect to the database and have not been able to.
    The error states that "...listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12505, TNS; listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor..."
    Also tried to log into the database home page but page doesn't load...

    I'd bet the database is down.
    Try a login through sqlplus ("Run SQL Command Line" in the Oracle Express Edition 'Start' menu).
    Do a CONN / AS SYSDBA
    If you get a message about database or memory area not available, try STARTUP.
    If that doesn't work, you are best off in the General Database forum or the Express Edition forum.
    You'll probably get the most expert response in General Database, but the Express Edition forum can be gentler on newbies (as it is more accepted that questioners are not and do not have access to full-time DBAs).

  • SQL Developer is not exporting the time part of date data types.

    I need to export data from a table using sql developer. The column is a date data type but when I export the data to a csv, xls or an sql file with insert statements, sql developer only includes the date part without the time.
    Please kindly advise.

    Thanks for getting back to me so quick!
    You were correct to assume that I was referring to a View. All of our users have been added to a standard user role that providers that basic functionalities that they need. This particular user's access is exactly the same as the other users in his department,
    yet he is the only one who has experienced this problem. All of the user roles that we have added this user to contain at least 10 other users who have not reported any issue like this.
    I am wodering how this problem could only apply to this one user even after changing devices. I should also mention that with each of the devices that this user has worked on, there was a period of time when he was able to work in SCSM without
    any issues. What could have changed that caused this error to arrise on two separate occasions for just one user?
    The biggest issue is the fact that he is unable to edit activities. Am I correct to assume that these two issues are connected?
    I hope this message helps to clarify the problem we are experiencing.
    Thanks,
    Nick

    }A.java:
    package some;
    public class A implements I {

    package some;
    public class B implements I {

    you can compile your files with

    Recheck it twice or use NetBeans IDE(http://www.netbeans.org) it will do this for you ;)

  • SQL Developer EA 3.1 -Java Null pointer exception when loading model viewer

    a) I have a simple 3 node flow -- 1) DataSource selects CLOB and VARCHAR column; 2) BuildText node transforms CLOB into NESTED COLUMN; 3) ClustBuild node build K-Means cluster
    b) The "run" step succeeds for all three nodes, however when I try to launch the viewer for the cluster model, it fails with the stack trace below after 5 mins or so. Hi,
    We have been working on some performance issues tied to viewing large cluster models.
    Maybe... this is tied to that.
    1) Can you run the following query in sql worksheet to see how many distinct attributes are in the root cluster node. Just replace the 'CLUS_KM_1_16' value with your model name.
    SELECT count(distinct(h.attribute_name || h.attribute_subname))
    FROM TABLE(DBMS_DATA_MINING.GET_MODEL_DETAILS_KM('CLUS_KM_1_16',1,NULL, 0, 1, 0)) t,
    TABLE(t.histogram) h
    2) Can you launch the client with the console window to see if there is an earlier exception that is being eaten that is leading to the final exception.
    You can do this by using the finding the following executable and using it to launch sql dev:
    C:\<SQL DEV INSTALL FOLDER>\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.exe
    3) Of course, recreating the problem on our side is necessary. This might be difficult without opening a support ticket, but if you are able to post a script that creates a table using some demo data that ships with the db, we should be able to determine the problem pretty quickly.
    Thanks, Mark

  • SQL Developer 1.5.1 on XP: Abruptly aborts when laptop lid is closed

    I have SQLD 1.5.1 (latest version available for download, build 5440) on Windows XP (on a Lenovo laptop T60). When I am headed to say a meeting for example, and close the lid of the laptop so it goes to sleep/hibernate and then come back and open the lid, this new version seems to just disappear i.e. the application has closed, loosing all open editors etc.
    Has anyone noticed this?

    Unfortunately for your 8i DBs, there is a note in the [release notes|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/files/relnotes_v151.html] that says:
    The JDBC drivers shipped are 11g R1. This means that users will no longer be able to connect to an Oracle 8.1.7 database.

    I have lots of difficulties using SQL Developer, the cut/paste does not work properly, when I type search in he code editor it just paste or type the test in the source code not in the serach box. Very hectic I'm pallning to swicth to TOAD until they a a good version.

    Hello Aukhez,
    I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with SQLDeveloper - personally, I've never had any problems with cut/copy/paste and searching, and I've been using SQLDeveloper from v1.0 to the current version, on practically every version of the JDK from 1.5-1.6u16 on both Windows and Linux.
    Sorry to state the obvious, but perhaps if you could provide a bit more specific information - such as platform, version, etc - and details of what you tried to do, someone here might be able to help...? Regarding speed, there are quite a few things you can do to make this better, but again, without knowing your setup, it's hard to give you proper directions. Plus, you'll find numerous threads here and on google about what you can do to improve speed.

  • SQL Developer 2.1.1 : JDBC/ODBC Bridge

    Hi, I am running SQL Developer 2.1.1 and would like to to access databases other than those formally supported.
    I am happy to use the JDBC/ODBC Bridge - although additional JDBC connectivity would be ideal, I gather that it is not supported.
    Googling, and searching on this forum, implies that I should install the appropriate JDBC driver for the Bridge, list it on the third party JDBC drivers Preferences page, and that a 'Create Connection' dialog JDBC tab would then appear on restarting SQL Developer, as happens when you install the supported MySQL JDBC driver, for example.
    I am sorry to be dim, but I cannot track down a jar file containing the JDBC/ODBC Bridge that is supported by SQL Developer to the extent of enabling the JDBC tab. The rt.jar shipped in SQL Developer's JRE does not do the job. Checking for updates from the Help menu lists nothing that looks even remotely relevant. Where should I be looking?
    Thanks a lot
    Mandy Shaw
    Edited by: 845622 on Mar 18, 2011 10:59 AM - Clarified - sorry

    The additional connection types only appear for supported databases.
    I haven't tried this, but I vaguely remember some discussions from a long time ago.
    Make sure the jar file (and any supporting DLLs) are on your classpath (probably dropping them in the extensions directory will do it) and then in the new connection dialog select 'Advanced' connection type. This lets you enter a JDBC URL in any format so you can enter what is required for your additional databases.
    If this works, the most it will get you is a SQL Worksheet with no completion insight or syntax checking. Because SQL Developer doesn't know how to use the database catalogue, the object navigator won't work.

    =======================================
    psvm23@psvm23-desktop:~$ java -version
    java version "1.6.0_06"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_06-b02)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 10.0-b22, mixed mode, sharing)
    =====================================================
    Java Seems to be installed fine.
    After that I go to :
    /home/psvm23/sqldeveloper_install/sqldeveloper
    and I ran : sh sqldeveloper.sh
    and i got this error :
    ========================================================
    Oracle SQL Developer
    Copyright (c) 2008, Oracle. All rights reserved.
    Type the full pathname of a J2SE installation (or Ctrl-C to quit), the path will be stored in ~/.sqldeveloper/jdk
    ============================================================
    after that I added to the jdk.conf under ~/.sqldeveloper/bin :
    PATH=$PATH:/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.06/bin (where is located the whole SDK of sun java)
    And im still getting this :
    ========================================================
    psvm23@psvm23-desktop:~/sqldeveloper_install/sqldeveloper$ sh sqldeveloper.sh
    Oracle SQL Developer
    Copyright (c) 2008, Oracle. All rights reserved.
    Type the full pathname of a J2SE installation (or Ctrl-C to quit), the path will be stored in ~/.sqldeveloper/jdk
    ==============================================================

    Hi pjoracle2,
    I am on Linux (but not Ubuntu)
    My JAVA_HOME is /home/turloch/jdk1.5.0_06 my path to java is /home/turloch/jdk1.5.0_06/bin
    I tried altering sqldeveloper.conf:
    SetJavaHome /home/turloch/jdk1.5.0_06
    worked for me but setting this to
    SetJavaHome /home/turloch/jdk1.5.0_06/bin
    did not work for me.
    (also setting the JAVA_HOME environmental variable to /home/turloch/jdk1.5.0_06 helped)
    I also tried action suggested by the prompt ,Type the full pathname of a J2SE installation (or Ctrl-C to quit) (I entered:
    /home/turloch/jdk1.5.0_06
    which worked for me (I had the PATH to the Java executable set already))
    -Turloch

  • Can SQL Developer be used for Oracle Support "HTML Output" Diag Scripts ?

    Hi All,
    Oracle Support has asked me to run a diagnostic script (OTL_Diag.sql for anyone familar with the script) that produces output in HTML format using SQL*Plus to help troubleshoot an OTL problem we are having. Unfortunately I don't have SQL*Plus installed and my company is not on board with me installing it because of the SQL*NET connection required. Instead I have access to SQL Developer 3.1.0.7. While this works fine for most situations I'm having problems generating the required .html output file that Support needs.
    I've tried runing the OTL_Diag.sql a couple of ways using SQL Developer. First, I opened the file from SQL Developer and using the Run Script functionality (F5) I executed the code that way. This method did give me an opportunity to input the necessary parms and it did create the 'start' of the HTML file on my (Windows) file system, but the script seemed to abort with a java error that indicated some sort of format error (sorry, I'm not a java person so I can't provide any more info, but I'll be glad to get the exact error message if anyone thinks that will help solve my issue).
    My second approach was to open a SQL Window where I typed in @C:\OTL_Diag.sql without quotes. This approach also gave me the opportunity to enter the necessary input parms and it seemed to end normally. It also created the 'start' of the diaganostic output file on my Windows file system, but it 'completed' before any of the 'real' diaganostic output was written to the .html file.
    The Metalink note clearly specifies that the OTL_Diag.sql script is to be run with SQL*Plus 10.2 or above so I don't think I can complain too loudly to Oracle about this...but given that I don't have access to this product (and it is useless for me to again ask to install it) I am hoping someone out there has some ideas or insight as to how I can use SQL Developer to execute this diag script in a manner that will produce the required .html output file.
    Thanks in advance to anyone taking time to read my post !!
    Jeff

    >
    As a result, at this point in time my only available tool to run the OTL_Diag.sql script (provided by Oracle Support) is SQL Developer
    >
    Then you will have to edit the script, break it into pieces, execute each piece manually and save the output to feed into the next piece as required based on what the script is actually doing. Don't post the script or contents as that will likely violate your support agreement.
    As I already mentioned the script may be using syntax and/or commands that are simply not supported by sql*developer. One likely area is the script may be producing intermediate output scripts that are then processed by a later portion of the script. If that is the case then my suggestion to execute the pieces manually should work but you will need to do some trial-and-error to see.
    Even if you appear to be successful you will still have an issue when you communicate the results of your 'test' to Oracle support and they determine you didn't follow their instructions to use the proper tool.
    Sounds like your management is either ignorant or incompetent so I suggest you cover yourself by documentating the instructions from Oracle support and the direct orders you were given to disregard those instructions. No need to discuss that issue further but clearly there are resources available somewhere in the org that has the proper privileges or they wouldn't be able to maintain and support the database. If they want to pay for support they should heed their advice. Nuff said.

  • ORA-01722 when opening a package in SQL Developer 1.2 with oracle 9iR1

    Hi,
    I use SQL Developer with Oracle Database 9i release 1.
    When I open a package in SQL Developer 1.2 (or 1.5) for editing, I receive the error ORA-01722. The package successfully opens but this message, which pops everytime, is really annoying.
    I monitored the requests sent by SQL Developer and it seems that the following request is responsible of the error :
    SELECT LINE,POSITION,TEXT,ATTRIBUTE FROM USER_ERRORS WHERE TYPE=:1AND NAME=:2
    Notice there are no spaces between ':1' and 'AND'. When executing 'by hand' the request with SQL Developer, it asks for the value of '1AND' bind variable and the value of '2'. Then, it fails to execute with... ORA-01722.
    Is it possible to avoid this bug ?
    Thank you for your help.

    We're doing rolling 2 week releases until production. Expect something new next week.

  • Bug SQL Developer 3.0.04 Save Package Spec and Body to ips file bug

    Hi.
    I have problem with export package body end header. Exported ips file have some rows switched compared to original source code.
    SQL Developer version: 3.0.04. Build MAIN-04.34
    Error simulation:
    - Click on package header with right mouse button in SQL Developers Connections bar
    - In context menu choose 'Save Package Spec and Body...'
    - Save ips file... (Small bug: Offered file name is wrong (= last saved package/file, not actual name of package) :-( )
    - This file(source code) compare with original source code in Developer and u will see switched rows every +-90. row in source code.
    Can u fix this in next version of SQL Developer?
    Thanks...
