SQL Developer 4.0 - Database Diff - turn off schema name in generated script

SQL Developer 4 / RDBMS 11GR2
I know SQL Developer 4 is EA, but maybe the question has the same answer in 3.3. Also if 4.0 EA questions need to be asked in a different forum, please advise.
I am new to SQL Developer and I admit to using brand Z (TOAD) for many, many years.
(1) When using Database Diff, is there a setting to turn off the schema name that is displayed in the scripts that are generated? I looked in PREFERENCES, but if it is there, I did not see it.
(2) While I have found good resources on SQL Developer, is there a FAQ on Database DIff that answers a lot of these silly type questions?

On the first screen of the DIFF wizard there's a check box for 'Schema' - uncheck that.

You don't say what you have done to set up a connection.
This error is usually caused by something like using the wrong host name, or port number.

SQL Developer and Oracle Database 10g Express Edition, Connection Problem

I am using SQL Developer version 1.2.1 and am connecting to a 10g database on a windows xp.
Up until today there have been no problems with the connection. When I tried to connect to the database and have not been able to.
The error states that "...listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12505, TNS; listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor..."
Also tried to log into the database home page but page doesn't load...

I'd bet the database is down.
Try a login through sqlplus ("Run SQL Command Line" in the Oracle Express Edition 'Start' menu).
Do a CONN / AS SYSDBA
If you get a message about database or memory area not available, try STARTUP.
If that doesn't work, you are best off in the General Database forum or the Express Edition forum.
You'll probably get the most expert response in General Database, but the Express Edition forum can be gentler on newbies (as it is more accepted that questioners are not and do not have access to full-time DBAs).

SQL Developer Strangeness with database objects beginning with 'AQ'

I have two separate but seemingly related issues.
*1. I am experiencing a situation whereby database objects beginning with the letters 'AQ' are not included when performing a database export from SQL Developer (using the procedure described below).*
Procedure:
1. Create any database objects starting with 'AQ'
2. Tools > Database Export
3. Check every item in the 'Types to Export' step of the Export Wizard
4. Progress to the 'Specify Objects' step of the Export Wizard
Expected:
The 'Specify Objects' step of the Export Wizard lists all database objects
Actual:
The 'Specify Objects' step of the Export Wizard lists all database objects EXCEPT those prefixed with AQ. As these objects are not listed, I am not able to export them.
*2. Sequences that start with the letters 'AQ' do not appear in the object list*
Any sequences starting with the letters 'AQ' are missing from the Sequences list in the left panel of SQL Developer.
At a glance, it appears as though these are symptoms of the same issue that's described in [this thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=898765&tstart=180]. I have attempted this in versions 1.5.4 and 2.1.1.64 under both Windows XP and Vista. Both exhibit the same problems.

I have created a new bug for the first and reopened the bug for the second. In the latter case we fixed the AQ for most nodes, but it seems a few nodes, like the Sequences were not included.

SQL Developer Problem: Connect Database Windows Wont Show

Hi,
I have Windows Vista Home Basic and I have installed Oracle XE 10g which works great. However, I need to install SQL Developer too but it wont work. I think it may be a compatibility issue, or else some problem with Java. The thing is that no matter how hard I've tried I couldn't beat all the problems I had with the interface. First of all, when I try to make a new Database connection, the option window won't show. Second, when I enter in Preferences, I cannot choose anything but the general option. Also, I don't know where is the connection window.
I would appreciate all the help you can provide. Trying to start with my school project....

Issue with SQL Developer connecting to databases

Hi all,
I would be really grateful if anyone could advise me on the below issue.
I have 64bit laptop running Windows 7 and I get the following error message when I try to connect via SQL Developer to an external database for work purposes:

Actually, I resolved this issue with the help of a colleague. SQL Dev was not able to see my TNSnames file, because the Oracle_Home path was not defined. Something like that, anyway.

I believe this proves beyond doubt, that it's SQL Developer bug. Perhaps caching NLS settings?

SQL Developer 4.0.0.12-12.84 Connection Names

Hi,
in the new 4.0 it is no longer possible to use the "@" char. Thats fine for me (i have used user@db for my connections) - but is there a possibility to Exchange then the "@" with an "-" ?
I have ~ 200 stored connections - it is a bit annoying to drop / create it when a password has expired (due the old one can't saved back)
... and by the way: might it be possible to create subfolders? - would be a bit easier to handle the connections
(also: the connection dropdown list gets quite unusable over time - the more connections are used the longer the list... - but i don't have an idea how to overcome that...)

Only a single level of folders under the Connections node is supported at this time (right-click on an existing connection > Add to Folder)
You can always log an enhancment request on the SQL Developer Exchange.

If you leave the Username/Password input fields blank when creating the connection, opening the connection will display a dialog prompting for them.

SQL Developer 3.0 EA1 creates case senstive account names

Hi,
When creating a new account with SQL Developer 3.0 EA1, the user name is enclosed in quotes. This creates a case sensitive account name which creates problems when trying to sign. Historically account names have been converted to uppercase internally and during the logon sequence this is expected behavior. Not sure why the SQL Developer 3.0 EA1 team has chosen to start encapsulating usernames during creation in quotes?
Example of create user statement from 2.0

Having case sensitive object names greatly increases the complexity unnecessarily, please don't implement this approach.

Please tell me how you accessed the create user UI. Is this new "functionality" occurring from the DBA Navigator?
It's looking like it changed in both dialogs to me are you seeing the same thing? I'll dig in and see why this was changed.

Prefixing sequence with schema name in generated sql on oracle

We use kodo 3.4 with an oracle database in a J2EE environment.
When we put on the kodo tracing during on of our testcases we see statements being generated like :
select LOOPBAANPERIODESEQUENCE.NEXTVAL from DUAL
When we check the rest of the statements we see :
SELECT * FROM PC52290.EINDELOOPBAAN (EINDELOOPBAAN being a table)
Is there any way to make kodo generate the following statement ?

When faced with a similar problem, I wrote my own subclass of DBDictionary
(in my case actually a subclass of OracleDictionary), and plugged it into
kodo using the kodo.jdbc.DBDictionary property. My class overrode the
following methods:
public String getFullName(Table, boolean);
public String getFullName(Index);
Then at runtime, these methods stuffed in the correct Schema name for
certain tables and indexes, based on values yoinked from some user
properties.
Not sure if this will help or not in your case.

How does one turn off institution name, use graphic instead

Instead of using Apple provided institution name, I'd like to turn that off and use the one embedded in the graphic I've already uploaded instead. How do you do that?

The presence of a fixed provider name in the new iTunes U template is extremely unhelpful for us. Our brand requires a top banner clear of UI elements and other text. We're really stuck between working with the new template and our style police. I fully understand the requirement for a consistent UI, but this one simply doesn't work for us. I do understand that every shift in the basic iTunes Store template leads leads to a set of fixed parameters that the iTunes U team has to deal with.
My plea is this. It has to be the case that store providers (be they music, movie or university organizations) require some flexibility to represent their brand correctly in the store. It would be really good if those of us who contribute to the store could have some input into the way the templates are put together. It is in all (Apple / providers) our interests to sort this out.

For comparing lot of objects I use a priviliged account z, which can read Schema a and b.
In the compare dialog I set different from the Defaults following Options:
- step 1
- option "Maintain"
- step 3
- button "More"
- select schema a
- button "Lookup"
- mark all objects and shuttle to the right
- repeat for schema b
After the diff report is finished, schema object of account z are listed too, despite I have not selected this.

Ah, you're using user Z to select objects from A & B?
On step 2, do you have anything selected that you have not picked an object type for using the 'shuttle' in Step 3?
For example, if you picked, 'procedures' and then in the wizard, didn't pick ANY procedures in A or B, it will by default use ALL of the procedures in Z for the compare.

How to turn off screen redraw while running scripts?

I am sure this would be the number one question on the FAQ for Photoshop scripting, but I cannot seem to find it anywhere. I know it may be possible because this is something you can do in InDesign. Any ideas? Obviously I want to make Photoshop process the files faster.

If it’s just about your machine setting the Playback Options in the Actions Panel to Accelerated might suffice.
Moreover xbytor’s stdlib contains code to include this in a Script.
