SQL Developer cannot load a package

I was able to create the package using the script executed from the sql worksheet. There were no errors during the compile. I can view the package from the sqlplus and the package is valid.
When I try to right click on the package header/body to "edit", I get "table or view not found" errors. Note: this is a test package with a single dbms_output statement.
If i click through th errors, it eventually leads to:
java.io.IOException: exception loading PACKAGE BODY <schema>TEST_PKG Body

You didn't answer the questions:
Would the connection name simply mirror the tns entry? I'm not sure that'd be correct since I frequently have multiple connections defined to 1 DB ( tns entry ) If you program this "connection collection" to be performed at first startup (asking the user if he wants to), before having added any connection, you have a 1:1 relation; problem solved.
If you want it enabled even after adding connections, you can add arbitrary suffixes (_1, _2 and so on).
What username would be defaulted?This is even easier: none.
That's the least the end-user can add. He can even leave it blank if he really wants to be prompted on connecting.

    Post the part of your code that loads the driver and connects. My guess is you are using a variable for the name of the driver and the variable has not been set to anything(intially set to null).

  • Java.sql.SQLException: Cannot load JDBC driver

    THis topic has been discussed many many times but I still not able to connect to Oracle 8i from my servlet using Tomcat 4.1.12 on hp-ux and java1.3

    In the servlet:

    dataSource = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/acdb");
    doPost(..)
    the error occured at :
    synchronized (dataSource){
    con = dataSource.getConnection();}
    Thanks in advance!

    Everything looks correct to me, except for one thing.
    In your web.xml you have this:
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/ora</res-ref-name> In your server.xml, you have this tag, which matches your web.xml:
    <ResourceParams name="jdbc/ora" > But in your Java code, you've got this:
    dataSource = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/acdb"); When I've successfully set up a Web app data source, all three names had to agree. You either need to change your Java lookup name to "jdbc/ora" or change the web.xml and server.xml to "jdbc/acdb".
    See if that does it. Everything else sounds correct to me. - MOD

  • SQL Developer-Cannot Connect

    Hi, I have the same problem as the person who posted the question
    The history is i already have oracle 10g express edition installed on my system but with it I cannot create tables or execute DML or DDL commands so I downloaded SQL developer .
    When it came to the connection I wanted to fill in the Hostname , Port and SID in that order it gave me that same error "The network adapter could not establish connection ", and to fill in those spaces I used the link I saw when opening the Human Resources schema in the express edition(The schema came in the express edition and I used it to learn the SELECT statement). so i tried to use that address and it came in this format :- http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=4500:1000:3171371893604961
    And since SQL told me to fill those parameters as Hostname:Port:SID I felt the use of the last 3 digits i.e 4500:1000:3171371893604961 would have worked but that is what is giving me the error.
    I would appreciate the help. Thank you

  • SQL Developer - Cannot see list of tables in my connection

    Hi - when I downloaded and started to use the SQL developer tool, once I connected, I could see all of the tables/columns in my connection on the left side of the tool, and I had my query panel, results panel, and SQL history stacked on the right. Suddenly something has changed, and I cannot see the list of tables, etc. in my connection anymore, so I have to rely on memory and SQL history to remember the table and column names. It has to be "hidden" somehow, but view-connections does not help, and trying to click and drag windows doesn't uncover it either.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Probably better to ask in the SQL Developer forum here: SQL Developer
    I've been trying the version 2 beta though and it has quite a few bugs in. Table browsing is working fine for me, but all my functions and procedures have disappeared from the tree view. It does odd things with code formatting too.
    I don't think it will be supplanting trusty old command line SQL Plus for me yet any time soon...

  • SQL Developer cannot execute multiple queries in one connection

    Hi,
    Using : SQL Developer 1.2.29.98, Oracle Database 9i on Windows XP.
    Currently I have TOAD and PL/SQL Developer to handle things related to Oracle Database.
    I found this SQL Developer tools as an interesting tool which might replace PL/SQL Developer (I assume).
    I opened two SQL Worksheets and tried to execute 2 queries (time consuming one) simultanously, suddenly it freezes (the window become grayed). Just like TOAD, we cannot smoothly execute multiple queries on single connection on SQL Developer
    I can monitor the query process using TOAD (Session Browser) and found both queries are running while SQL Developer window become grayed and seems not functioning. After the queries have been finished, I mean both of them, the SQL Developer window become normal and "alive" again showing the expected results.
    Well, however PL/SQL Developer could handle this. Executing multiple queries in single application is just its unbeatable features.
    We can view the query result once its finished instead of until the others being processed, by just only switch the SQL Windows.
    Is it true that SQL Developer doesn't support executing multiple queries?
    Or is it a feature which we should request?
    Or we have to activate this feature by doing some changes on configuration / preferences?
    (Do we need to open two SQL Developer instances? what a memory consuming solution).
    Regards,
    Buntoro

    SQLDeveloper connections are single threaded and also rather single minded (in that you can't do much else while a long query is running.)
    There is an existing feature request http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:39:3685254426061901::NO::P39_ID:4202 for which you can vote.
    The workaround is to have multiple connections. Not brilliant but it works.

  • SQL Developer - cannot query collections

    Hi,
    I have a problem with my SQL Developer that cannot query on objects with collections. I get the same error when trying to query these DB objects.
    Error starting at line 1 in command:
    select * from customers

    However when I am using PL/SQL Developer I have no problem to access the objects.

  • Oracle SQL Developer Cannot Cancel Queries Properly

    This was a problem with version 2 and continues to be an issue with version 3. If I chose to cancel a query that is taking a long time to run it gives me the prompt and displays that the query was cancelled. However, the query is not actually cancelled and is still running in the background. The lock on the table still exists. How can I tell? Once a query is cancelled I attempt to exit the program and when I try to disconnect it says that the connection is busy. My only options are to try again or abort. First of all, these are terrible option names. How about changing these to try again or cancel, which is actually what abort does. Second, at this point there is no way to exit the application until the query completes in the background. I can kill the application through the Task Manager which in turn kills the query. This is a major problem and needs to be fixed before this application is useful.

    I also am having this same issue. I am running SQL Developer 2.1.1.64.45 (JDK 1.6.0_11), connecting to Oracle 9.2.0.4.0 via TNSNAMES.
    Seems to be similar to this thread: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=9524997&#9524997
    In which it appears to be a genuine bug.. Since I develop large queries in SQL Developer before sending them through a SAS program via PROC SQL, I have no other way to test them. It is frustrating, when testing the large queries, to have to do CTRL-ALT-DEL to delete the SQL Developer task and therefore losing any other query tab changes I have made before running/canceling the task. Grrrr.. :)
    Thoughts? -Kristi

  • SQL developer cannot see connection info from tnsnames.ora file

    Greetings All,
    I have been using sql developer for a while. Currently on 3.0.04.34.
    I have 16 database connections.
    Everything was working fine until yesterday.
    Today when I tried to connect to a database from the list of connections I am getting following error:
    Invalid connection information specified. Verify url format for specified driver.
    When I pull up the property for this connection -connection type is still TNS, Netwrok Alias is now greyed out and what was in Netwrok Alias has shifted to Connect Identifier.
    When I try to create a new connection I do not see entry from tnsnames.ora file for the databse I am trying to connect to in the Network Alias drop down list.
    I can connect to this database from sqlplus.
    Has anyone seen this behavior? Does any one know the fix for this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Maybe your preference settings got corrupted, or the Tnsnames.ora file got moved to somewhere SQL Developer can't find it.
    Are you using either:
    1. Tools|Preferences|Database|Advanced|Tnsnames Directory, or a
    2. TNS_ADMIN environment variable
    to point to your Tnsnames? Having one of those should enable the Network Alias drop-down list to get populated. Otherwise, if the values moved to Connection Identifier are correct, then you won't be to connect in that mode without also having an Oracle client installed with an 11.1 JDBC thick driver (ocijdbc11.dll).
    If there is no issue with the Tnsnames. ora location, it might be a good idea to use Export Connections to make a backup of your connections. Then you can try deleting the connections from SQL Developer and re-importing them. Even if that doesn't fix the problem, you should be no worse off.

    Gary

  • SQL*Developer 3EA1 - Not Compiling package Body

    Don't know if this is best place to post this, if not tell me where.
    In some packages i'm getting: Error: ORA-06550: linha 1, coluna 64:PLS-00172: literal de cadeia de caracteres demasiado extenso; Sorry about the portuguese error message but it's cpopy paste from compiler log.
    The strange about this is that the package is compiling with no errors on Version 2.1.1.64 and also on others editors. In both packages i had this was after formatting the code.
    So far is the only bug i got, keep on the good work.
    António Cunha

    Just tried from pl/sql node. The package body does not compile from there either. The issue seems to be the size of the package. The package size is 35,000 characters and spaces. I can remove any combination of source lines to get it down to 32,000 characters and spaces and it will compile.

    Hi,
    This could be one of those cases where using Java 7 versus Java 6 makes a difference, or perhaps there is some conflict with the JDBC driver version. So, a few things to try...
    1. Make sure your installation's SetJavaHome line in ...\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf points to a Java 6 JDK.
    2. If (1) does not work, also uncheck the Use OCI/Thick driver box in Tools -> Preferences -> Database -> Advanced.
    3. If (1) and (2) do not work, also copy the ojdbc6.jar from any Oracle client you might have installed to your installation's ...\sqldeveloper\jdbc\lib directory
    I would think doing just (1) should be sufficient. If on Mac OS, use sqldeveloper-Darwin.conf instead.
    Hope this helps and please post back here and let us know, one way or the other,

  • Package, Function in SQL Developer

    DB 10gR2
    SQL Developer 2.1.1.64
    I can see the following package's code on my SQL Developer
    create or replace PACKAGE zero AS
    FUNCTION one (P_TABLE VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2;
    FUNCTION two RETURN VARCHAR2;
    END zero;
    But I can't find function one or function two on the left hand side navigation. Why can't I see the codes for both of the function? and how do I see the codes of those function?
    Thanks

    You are seeing the package specification. To see the body (what you call "codes"), you should expand the package's navigator node and click on the body exposed just below.
    Hope that helps,
    K.
