Sql developer debugger issue

I am using oracle sqldeveloper 1.0.0.15.57. Previously we were able to set up a breakpoint and step through a stored procedure inside a package.
We made sure all the previliges are on and the debugging did really work.
But after some time (no changes to the Database or to the setup configuration on my laptop), we are not able to step through the stored procedure in a package.
This is the logs we get:
Connecting to the database UAT_Staging.
Executing PL/SQL: ALTER SESSION SET PLSQL_DEBUG=TRUE
Executing PL/SQL: ALTER SESSION SET PLSQL_COMPILER_FLAGS=INTERPRETED
Executing PL/SQL: CALL DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP( '10.3.18.51', '1346' )
Debugger accepted connection from database on port 1346.
Processing 56 classes that have already been prepared...
Finished processing prepared classes.
Process exited.
Disconnecting from the database UAT_Staging.
Debugger disconnected from database.
We do get all the log statements indicating that the SP is running, but the control doesn't stop at the breakpoint, preventing us from debugging.
Can someone help, as to why this is happening?
Thanks
karthik

I guess you've bumped onto the HUGE breakpoint-line-bug.
I guess it's since developer cuts the first line in two:
CREATE OR REPLACE
PACKAGE BODY XXX AS
the line numbers internally are 1 off.
If you want to break at line 101, place the breakpiont at 100...
DEV TEAM, how long before you can fix this one? It's an ugly, error prone, dev time consuming bug!

  • SQL Developer Debugger

Hello, question please. Last week i was able to use my SQL Developer Debugger quite successfully. Break Point and Step through my code, see values of variables, etc.
Not sure what could have changed, today, i'm trying to debug and i get:
ORA-30683: failure establishing connection to debugger
    ORA-12535: TNS:operation timed out
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP", line 68
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    Process exited.
Some things i have attempted to correct the situation, but no luck.
    Have granted Debug any procedure and Debug connection to my user id - successful;
    Have verified that the IP displayed in the CALL DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP call is the same as displayed from IPCONFIG/ALL;
    Have verified that my team mate connecting to the same database can go into debug successfully on the same procedure i''m trying to debug;
Anyone knows what i can try next?
    Thanks..Rob.

  • Querying uncommitted session data in SQL Developer debugger

I'm trying to analyze a large PL/SQL program that performs table creation, data insertion, and conditional updates to temporary tables. Is there a way to query the uncommitted data in the session in which the PL/SQL is running while stopped at a breakpoint? I see that watches make variables available for inspection, but I'd like to query data in the temp tables using a select statement to see what is there while the debugger is stopped at a breakpoint.
This is using SQL Developer 1.2 on MS Windows XP against an Oracle 10g database.

Well, no. You'd have to change your code to include these calls and fill variables you can monitor with the debugger. A lot of work in development, impossible for production...
This would make a great request for the SQL Developer Exchange though: like the VB/Access Immediate window, a worksheet linked to the debugger session. You'll have my vote if you add it.

  • SQL Developer Export Issue

I could export the query results to XLS by clicking the right mouse button from the results and the export window pops up with the flile name and works fine. However when I run certain queries and tries to export results by clicking the right mouse button and choosing XLS the export windows does not pop up and I am unable to export the data. The query results has about 15 columns displayed and I am using Ver 1.5.5. Any help appreciated.

    Hi,
The 1.5.5 version is rather old. Best to upgrade to the latest 3.1 production version. If the same problem still occurs, provide specifics about the query that fails on export to xls.

  • SQL Developer debugger/ How to run/step till a variable attains a req. val

I have a huge while loop. I want the debugger to step/run till a variable attains a particular value inside the loop. i.e "Break when varA='valA'". How can achieve it?
Please don't suggest me to step through while "watching" the particular variable.

I use a variable called bStop and then say
    If x = whatever then

To report back on the outage from last week. There was an outage, which is what those of you on this list reported on. Feedback from Support was that it was short lived and rectified. Regrettably, it affected your ability to download SQL Developer when you wanted and needed to. We all know how frustrating that is and when a web site is unhelpful, that is even more aggravating. I can only apologize.
I do have a web site for reporting future outages. This forum is under the OTN Services section and is the downloads forum:

  • Issue with migration DB from SQL Server 2005 to Oracle 11.2 using SQL Developer Migration workbench

    Hi,
We face an issue while migrating an SQL Server 2005 DB to Oracle 11.2.  It fails during the process.  I hope someone on the forum has seen this before and can give us some advice.
I use the latest version of SQL Developer with JRE included (3.2.20.09).  The JDBC driver to connect to SQL Server 2005 is 1.2.0
Here are the steps we take in the Migration Workbench wizard:
I made an online extract of the SQL Server database.
Using the workbench in SQL Developer I created a migration repository in schema PDM_MIGRATION.
Next I start the migration, it captures the tables fine, but immediately after the start of the conversion I get a failed message without further explanations.
This is the content of the error xml:

    I see the PDM_MIGRATION.MIGR_FILTER is a type.
    Many thanks in advance,

    Hi Wolfgang,
    Thanks for your reply.
This is how the type MIGR_FILTER looks like:
    create or replace
    TYPE MIGR_FILTER IS OBJECT (
      FILTER_TYPE INTEGER, -- Filter Types are 0-> ALL, 1->NAMELIST, 2->WHERE CLAUSE, 3->OBJECTID LIST
      OBJTYPE VARCHAR2(40),
      OBJECTIDS OBJECTIDLIST,
      NAMES NAMELIST,
      WHERECLAUSE VARCHAR2(1000));
I think the repository user has the correct privileges.  This is the overview of privileges it has:
    SQL> select * from dba_sys_privs where GRANTEE in ('PDM_MIGRATION') order by GRANTEE;
    GRANTEE PRIVILEGE ADM
    PDM_MIGRATION ALTER SESSION NO
    PDM_MIGRATION CREATE CLUSTER NO

I downloaded the jtds driver from source forge and i am wondering what I should do to get the sql developer to make successful connections to sql server.

I get this error when trying to connect to an sql server:

    Issue 3:
After issue 2 occurs, selecting Export from the context menu causes the application to freeze with no further exceptions.
    Notes:
I am able to reproduce this every time for a specific long-running query which completes normally after 260-290 seconds. I cannot reproduce this issue for queries which complete rapidly (i.e. select * from table).

    On Issue 1:
As MRM has said, this was posted several times for 1.1.2 and I noticed the (null) in the Help -> About window with 1.1.2. I have now upgraded to 1.1.3 via check for updates and I don't get the (null) anymore, so I would guess that you are still on 1.1.2. Note that my Help -> About shows Version 1.1.2.25.79, with the 1.1.3.27.66 version only appearing in the Extension tab.
    On Issue 3:
1.1.3.27.66 (as per Extensions) runs queries twice to export - once to show the data in the Results (ie 1st 260-290 seconds) and once again when exporting (ie 2nd 260-290 seconds).
1.1.2.25.79 (as per Extensions) runs queries three times to export - once to show the data in the Results (ie 1st 260-290 seconds), once as part of opening the Export dialog (ie 2nd 260-290 seconds) and once again when exporting (ie 3rd 260-290 seconds).
This means that if you are really still on 1.1.2 it will take up to 5 minutes for the Export dialog to appear :(

  • Unable to use PL/SQL Debugger, Production SQL Developer on OS X 10.4

I am still unable to use the PL/SQL debugger in OS X.
When I start the debugger I get this:
    Connecting to the database testdb.
Executing PL/SQL: ALTER SESSION SET PLSQL_DEBUG=TRUE
Executing PL/SQL: ALTER SESSION SET PLSQL_COMPILER_FLAGS=INTERPRETED
    Executing PL/SQL: CALL DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP( '172.16.81.33', '49260' )
Debugger accepted connection from database on port 49260.
Processing 56 classes that have already been prepared...
    Finished processing prepared classes.
Then nothing, it never gets to a breakpoint or does anything else. It works just fine on my Win XP box, just not on my OS X machine.
Anyone having this problem or have any tips to try? I've never gotten the debugging to work on any Raptor or SQL Developer build in OS X. However, JDeveloper debugging works just fine on this mac.

I am also experiencing this problem.
Perhaps the following excerpt from the console can shed some light on the problem.

  • Issue connecting via proxy client in SQL Developer 4.0

    Hi SQL Developers,
I should have posted this earlier, as I have been using SQL Developer 4.0 for several months and noticed the issue some time ago. The environment I am connecting to uses a Windows ISA Proxy desktop client to allow traffic to some databases. I generally use the Oracle Client and OCI connections in SQL Developer. At some point during the SQL Developer releases, connectivity stopped working for certain databases behind the proxy.
The following clients connect to the database behind the proxy without issue:
    SQL*Plus 11.2.0.1 64-bit
SQL Developer 4.0.0.12.84 using the SQL*Plus client and OCI
Connectivity to the database behind the proxy does not work with these versions:
SQL Developer 4.0.0.13.80 (tested with Oracle client, thin, etc.)
SQL Developer 4.0.0.13.30 (tested with Oracle client, thin, etc.)
    Error Message:
An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
    Vendor code 17002
Connectivity to other non-proxied databases works for all clients above. I've tried re-creating the connections, re-installing, etc. Nothing works except going back to the earlier version of SQL Developer.
Has anyone else experienced this behavior? I am trying to determine whether the proxy is stopping the client based on a signature or if the client is not routing the connection correctly.
    Thanks,
    Shad

    I think I have found a solution.
Run the command prompt (CMD) in windows and type in the following:
    setx _JAVA_OPTIONS -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
I got this from a java developer and now I'm able to connect
