SQL Developer Exchange filter update request

Hi,
Can someone from the team please update the Exchange to include new filters such as "Scheduled for 2.0".
Additionally, with the default filter ("Not in ..."), these requests are filtered out right now.
Thanks,
K.

Sure - I'll update it. I'll look at updating the feature list too in the next week or so.

But can not find them in:

    Where are they explained...?
    Thanks, Juergen

    Thanks K,
good hint with the filtering of the status...!
I was just wondering if you can find the ID's. When you scroll to the end on: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/files/BugsFixed_v211.html
there you find the section "Requests from the SQL Developer Exchange Included" with a lot of IDs...
    8411043 : Commit confirmation
8755723 : Copy column name to clipboard (ctrl - shift- C)
8487257 : Do not use ora_rowscn (Request implemented using a preference)
but the filtering is good for me too...

  • SQL Developer Exchange Upgrade?

Can the APEX installation used to provide the SQL Developer Exchange be upgraded to APEX 3.1 and the various reports redeveloped as Interactive Reports? This would give Exchange users the ability to customise the screens to their requirements, particularly the Feature Requests which has become unwieldy. The ability to perform more complex custom filtering on this report would be very useful.

    Agreed. Done.

  • SQL Developer Exchange Link

The link to the "SQL Developer Exchange" (http://sqldeveloper.oracle.com/) on the SQL Developer OTN Home Page returns an error page, and has been for the last couple of days....
Is Oracle having web site problems?

  • Sql Developer Exchange - Website Unavailable

I've just tried to access SQL Developer Exchange website and the message i get is
The website you are trying to access is currently unavailable
Can somebody look at this issue?
I have also noticed low activity on this forum over the last few weeks which is a bit "strange". Is this due to a new version release? :D

  • SQL Developer Problems and Feature Requests

I’m in the process of comparing TOAD to SQL Developer and noticed the following bugs/features in SQL Developer:
    1. An error message is correctly displayed when a database password has expired, but there isn’t a way to go back into the database and change the password for that account. Can this critical feature be added?
    2. There is no option to connect as sysdba or sysoper.
    3. In the “New / Select Database Connection” window, I get the following error when double clicking on an existing connection defined using a TNS Network Alias: Status: Failure – no ocijdbc10 in java.library.path. Any ideas? Connection was initially defined using the Network Alias button. I can connect under the “Connections” window, but not in the “New / Select Database Connection” window. Any ideas?
    4. When displaying data in a table, the filter is not user friendly. You need to enter column names and the correct SQL syntax. It also does not allow you to cut and paste in column names. It would be very helpful/useful if it was more user friendly (GUI based) such as how Sorting is done and/or how it is done in TOAD.
    5. When viewing referential constraints on a child table, it shows you information on the parent, but not if the parent is a child to something else. If you were a parent, it would be nice to see all child and their children’s children. TOAD does a nice job showing parent and child tables via a tree structure.
    6. Comparing metadata between schemas would also be a very nice feature.
I’m not sure if this is the place to post this but thought I would start here. Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ken

1: You can always right click and have it open an sql*plus window and that will prompt for the new password. But I do agree that support for this should be built in.
2: This is a developer tool.. Use OEM for the dba stuff. I think that the worst thing that could happen to SQL Dev is to try to become everything for everyone like TOAD tries to.
3: Search the forum. Other users ran into this and I believe there is a workaround.
4: I like the current filtering on tables. So much simpler than most tools. I do agree that maybe there should be an advanced button with a filter builder and agree that column names should be copyable but would cringe if the free-form field disappeared. How many other tools can you write an inline query into the table viewer? Great feature IMHO

  • SQL Developer Keeps finding updates (1.2.1.32.02)

    Hi,
I have just patched my SQL Developer (Windows XP Pro) (extensions tab shows version 1.2.1.32.00) and the automatic update wizard keeps finding a new patch (1.2.1.32.02).
It says it's installed it, but after a restart (including an additional manual one) my extensions tab shows version 1.2.1.32.00 and the update wizard finds the new update again.
Help! (or is it the "Groundhog Day" patch).
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi Matt,
Yes, there is a new Check for Updates. It should force the second restart we require and it should update the front panel in the Help -> About to 1.2.1.32.05. If you were on a 1.2.1.32.00 build then the only extension that is updated under your extensions list is the SQL Developer extension, which is 1.2.1.32.05.
You can run the Check for Updates against a 1.2.0.29.98 build (i.e. the initial 1.2 release) or against the new 1.2.1.32.00 build. In both situations had you run the Check for Updates last week, this update will clear the issues you might have encountered.
You should not keep getting prompted for repeated updates. While it's starting to feel like my stock answer these days, please restart your install and this should clear.
    Regards
    Sue

  • Re: SQL Developer Problems and Feature Requests

"no ocijdbc10 in java.library.path"... What should i do with it?
I get it on the simplest of operations: changing (in fact setting) the connection password for the existing connection (defined by TNS/Connect Identifier). Oh, yes, there're workarounds, particularly export-edit-import, but don't you find it a bit weird?
BTW, i do not find a Save button there either, won't it be just appropriate? (Not allways a connection one's setting up for is already available on the spot).
Environment : OS: RHEL4, SQL Developer version: 1.0.0.15.57 (at least that's what About says), java - just stright form Sun, 1.5.0_09_b01; this was one i told SQL Developer to use. The default java in the system is Red Hat 3.4.6-3, though, i haven't changed that - should i?
    TIA,
    Uldis

I have had this issue with the Connection window with the TNS Connection Identifier method, but it appears to be related in some way to the other Oracle installations you have. For me (I am on Win XP), the error went away after installing the Oracle 10g client with Discoverer 10g Administrator. It then came back when I needed to rebuild my computer and installed my Oracle clients (I have three for various different products) in a different order, but was fixed that time by reordering my Oracle Homes via the Universal Installer and making my 10g Client first (Oracle Universal Installer -> Installed Products -> Environment)
Alternatives are to switch back to the TNS Network Alias method to record the password (unfortunately, even when entering the connection as a Network Alias it is saved as a Connection Identifier) or to just use the Basic tab instead of the TNS tab.

  • SQL Developer Exchange: Feature Requests

I'm requesting a new feature for the Feature Requestor :-)
Would it be possible to show a creation date and last rated date on the Feature Requests report to help in tracking what's been changed?
(And note that the HTML Title on the Rating Page says "Rating Deatil" instead of "Detail".)

Thanks for the feedback, I'll note those requests. I thought I'd got all the typos!

  • New and Improved SQL Developer Exchange

From the exchange, we have implemented over 400 requests from users. The exchange is have a bit of a facelift and if anyone would like to test out the new Exchange go here https://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=43135:1 . Let me know what you think. This is the same tables and data just much needed UI re-work.
    thanks
    -kris

    - the requests need Created and Updated columns
These are there you just have to choose to show them. Under the Actions button, there is a "Select Columns" option.Nice work, it does work :)
    - grids would be nice (alternating colours optional)
Done. Can you do the same in the "Rating/ Comments section" as it's not present.
    - in the voting section, user names are missing, together with the ability to edit your given score. Score 10 is missing.
This is intentional. It's now using Oracle's SSO which would show everyone's email address.to my knowledge the forum is using the SSO where my name is displayed instead of email address. I don't like to have my email address displayed (spam reasons).
In addition to this i saw that:
    1) if i have voted already, the application shows me the "Rate this feature" button which means i can still vote, but when i apply i get unique constraint violated.
In the current version if i have already voted, i don't have the option to vote again.
    2) if i'm already logged on the forum and then go directly to the Exchange to vote, i'm redirected to the SSO to enter my login details.
I was expected not to be asked again for my login details.

  • Unable Update SQL Developer with Times Ten in-Memory DB Extension 1.2.1.1.0

SQL Developer 1.2.1 Build MAIN 32.13 (Windows XP)
We can't Update SQL Developer with Times Ten in-Memory DB Extension 1.2.1.1.0 :-((
We did the same actions as described in tutorial
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/timesten/viewlets/tt703_sqldev_install_ext_viewlet_swf.html
In addition to tutorial we have "Log In" window
"To download Oracle Times Ten in-Memory Database Extension
you must enter your Oracle Web Account user name and password"
This window was not displayed in tutorial...
We try to use three our OTN accounts and the result
was the same - we was asked with "User name" and "Password"
again, again, again and again,,, :-(
Is it a bug or a feature?
Mayby we didn't understand something or did something wrong?

    Hi Simon,
I found cause of update failure! It was the HTTP proxy setting.
I turned off "Use HTTP proxy server" checkbox in SQL Developer -> Tools -> Preferences -> Web Browser and Proxy.
After this action SQL Developer was successfully updated with Times Ten Extension.

  • Just Loaded Update And SQL Developer is Dead

Called up SQL Developer and the Updater popup notified me of a new update. Did a check for updates and checked the update for SQL Developer and loaded it with settings transferred to new instance. Now the entire blue pane with all the details is toast. Nothing. Zero, Nada. Terrific update.
    Bree

    Winning move!
I just renamed it, created a blank system folder, and then restarted SQL Developer. I said No to the migrate settings from other version screen. Then I put back the dbconnection folder and got my databases back. I can selectively add back preference folders and should be able to reconstitute.
Looks like the bug is in the setting migration routine.
    Thanks!

  • SQL Developer 2.0

I know we don't have a date; however, it would be nice to know some of the features planned for SQL Developer 2.0.

    Hello willjamu,
at the [SQL Developer Exchange|http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:37] you can filter the feature requests for "Scheduled for 2.0" and you can visit the [Statement of Direction|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/files/sqldeveloperstatementofdirection.htm] and read the "Plans for the next release"

  • Querying uncommitted session data in SQL Developer debugger

I'm trying to analyze a large PL/SQL program that performs table creation, data insertion, and conditional updates to temporary tables. Is there a way to query the uncommitted data in the session in which the PL/SQL is running while stopped at a breakpoint? I see that watches make variables available for inspection, but I'd like to query data in the temp tables using a select statement to see what is there while the debugger is stopped at a breakpoint.
This is using SQL Developer 1.2 on MS Windows XP against an Oracle 10g database.

Well, no. You'd have to change your code to include these calls and fill variables you can monitor with the debugger. A lot of work in development, impossible for production...
This would make a great request for the SQL Developer Exchange though: like the VB/Access Immediate window, a worksheet linked to the debugger session. You'll have my vote if you add it.

  • SQL Developer 3.1 EA - Database Diff Issues

    Hi
I am using SQL Developer 3.1 EA to generate database difference script to upgrade my db. This is really very useful and very good tool for compare two different databases and generate the difference script.
There are few bugs (?) identified while using database diff tool.
    1. If there is a column mismatch in Source and Destination tables, directly drop the table and recreate new one. This is not a good solution for upgrading database with some other database (data loss is the major issue). Microsoft handled this situation in VS2010 to create temp table with new structure then move data to the temp table and finally drop the original table and rename temp table to original. I am expecting the same method in Database Diff also.
    Sample Code:
    --Changed TABLE
    --F_SYSTEM_2
    DROP TABLE "ED9461001ER09_D1"."F_SYSTEM_2";
    CREATE TABLE "ED9461001ER09_D1"."F_SYSTEM_2"
    (     "SYS2_SEQN" NUMBER(9,0) DEFAULT 0 NOT NULL ENABLE, ....
    2. Primary key constraint created with table creation for new tables. But late point of time, Create unique index statement also trying to create the same to lead runtime error.
    Sample Code:
    --New TABLE
    --F_SYSTEM_3
    CREATE TABLE "ED9461001ER09_D1"."F_SYSTEM_3"
    (     "SYS3_CORVU_DB_NAME" VARCHAR2(50),
         "SYS3_CORVU_DB_SCAP" VARCHAR2(8),
         "SYS3_CORVU_DB_VIEWURL" VARCHAR2(2048),
         "SYS3_CORVU_HP_NAME" VARCHAR2(50),
CONSTRAINT "PK_F_SYSTEM_3" PRIMARY KEY ("SYS3_SEQU") ENABLE
    --New INDEX
    --PK_F_SYSTEM_3
    CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "ED9461001ER09_D1"."PK_F_SYSTEM_3" ON "ED9461001ER09_D1"."F_SYSTEM_3" ("SYS3_SEQU");
    3. If there is an difference in procedures, script generated with two Create Procedure statements (Source and Destination) which is irrelevant.
    --Changed PROCEDURE
    --GET_DI_COUNT
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE "ED9461001ER09_D1"."GET_DI_COUNT"      (PP_SEQU int,
    --Changed PROCEDURE
    --GET_DI_COUNT
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE EDISAPAC10_D1.GET_DI_COUNT      (PP_SEQU int,
I am expecting your solution / clarification.
    Regards
    Nagarajan Santhan

    1. Makes sense. You can request this at the SQL Developer Exchange, so other users can vote and add weight for possible future implementation.
    2. Long standing bug. As it won't make your computer explode, apparently low priority to fix.
    3. I'm unable to use the comparison feature in EA3. I do get the progress dialog comparing the different procedures and functions, but when finished it just disappears, and no comparison sheet opens, like the whole operation just got cancelled. No exceptions in the console, just a lot of these in the logging page:
update returning false for Grid1oracle.ide.Context[{Context.WORKSPACE=Databases.jws, Context.PROJECT=IdeConnections%23DES+-+Reddis.jpr, Context.SELECTION=[Loracle.ide.model.Element;@1353c19, Context.EVENT=null, Context.VIEW=LoggingMessagePane.Logging Page}]Can someone from the team suggest something to debug?
    Thanks,
