SQL Developer Tables Node is missing from when expand connection
Hi,
I'm getting this issue often when I expand the connection node (Oracle DB connection), the Tables node is missing from the object types tree. Even if i close the SQL developer and come back it would be the same.
Is this a known issue? I've seen this both in 3.0 & 3.1.
please advice.
Hi,
Just as an update: I did not encounter the issue anymore since my last post (ca 1 week) and I did not do any changes to sqldeveloper any more (never did an export / import of connections, no change in version of JDK any more etc.).
I guessed this here could be my issue: SQL Developer: Not able to view tables
excerpt: "The problem occurs when SQL Developer 3.0.04 connects to a limited privilege schema via a shared server connection. The workaround is to connect using a dedicated server connection."
I use type "Basic" for all my sqldeveloper connections, so no TNSnames.ora entries containing the line "SERVER=DEDICATED" and I did get same issue also when connection using a custom created user having the DBA role.
Therefore I guess this is here is more likely to be my issue: SQL Developer: Not able to view tables
excerpt "JDBC driver having to do with 'Out Of Band Breaks' - basically a low level TCP issue.
To enable the workaround, a Java system property needs to be set - oracle.net.disableOob=true. "
Very often when I did have the issue I closed SQLDeveloper and used Toad for the rest of the day (or a few hours). Next time launching SQLDeveloper the tables node usually was back again. So this could fit into the picture, right?

Sql developer 3.0 executable does nothing when running
I just downloaded SQL Developer 3.0 and extracted it to an empty folder. After extracting I have tried to open/run the sqldeveloper.exe and nothing happens. I have tried downloading the program again and extracting the files a couple more times and get the same results. What do I need to do to get the executable to work?
My system I have downloaded it to and trying to run it on is Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3.

Hi buddies;
My question is about SQL Developer 1.5.5, I'm a beginner with this tool, and I was reading the table of contains, but I couldn't find anything
about relational tables. For example, what I want to know is where can I see the parent or child tables of any table. In toad you can see that
info together with the field that is the link. For example, I got a table that has relationship with other five tables (child tables), however
with SQL Developer for that specific table, in tag Dependencies I can see packages, views, and triguer. So, where can I see the tables
names related to this table?
Thanks for your help

Edited by: user5248437 on Nov 18, 2009 12:06 PMOut of the box, you can't; this has been a missing feature over all versions up to date.
On the bright side, sqldev is easily extendible with user defined XML extensions. There's a [References/Referenced By extension|http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:54:1130207409801024::::P54_ID:601] on the SQL Developer Exchange that shows how to add these missing tabs.
Have fun,

Hi, I upgraded SQL developer yesterday to the latest version. Now I don't see anything any more in the datagrid, columns, constraints, etc ...
Connection is OK, in the explorer (to the left) I see tables and columns, in the datagrid (table properties) I don't see anything.
Here is the contents of the about box
Many thanks

SQL Developer not accepting certain characters from the keyboard
Hello,
I have been using SQL Developer for 5 or 6 months now, with minor issues and great satisfaction.
A few days ago, just out of the blue, in the middle of the day, SQL developer started not accepting the following characters:
Ctrlv, Ctrl + c, F5, F9 (I Think all function keys), BackSpace, Delete, Enter and arrow keys.+*
T*his is only happening in the text editor part*. I am able to use this keys in the results, whether they were a script output or an execute query output.
SQL developer also functions properly (if i paste using the mouse, paste works.. and all the other keys)
I checked the pc for viruses, using AVG, no viruses were found (my avg is updated daily and runs daily virus checks on a schedule, and this issue has been here for the past 1 or 2 weeks, so it was a virus, i think it should have been discoverd, besides, the keys are still working in sql developer, only not in the text editor part)
Needless to say, but if i run notepad and type, keys work properly.
I also reinstalled it in another folder with no luck
Tried so many restarts .. no luck
Tried it in safe mode .. no luck
I am using SQL developer Version 1.5.4, Build MAIN-5940.. on Windows Xp
I am suspecting there's some option in it that I disabled without paying attention..
HELP!!!

CharlesAll that time trying possible solutions is understandable, but then typing them in your post... when searching the forum would have given you the solution under 1 minute:

Hope that helps,

Migrating CMP EJB mapped to SQL Server table with identity column from WL
Hi,
I want to migrate an application from Weblogic to SAP Netweaver 2004s (7.0). We had successfully migrated this application to an earlier version of Netweaver. I have a number of CMP EJBs which are mapped to SQL Server tables with the PK as identity columns(autogenerated by SQL Server). I am having difficulty mapping the same in persistant.xml. This scenario works perfectly well in Weblogic and worked by using ejb-pk in an earlier version of Netweaver.
Please let me know how to proceed.
-SekharI suspect it is the security as specified in the message. E.g .your DBA set the ID columns so no user can override values in it.
And I suggest you 1st put the data into a staging table, then push it to the destination, this does not resolve the issue, but ensures better processing.

Sql developer not working which i got when i installed oracle 11g on win7
Hi i successfully instaled my oracle 11g on windows 7,but when iam trying to use my sql developer chich i got by default with 11g is not working ..when i open it its asking me for "select the path of java.exe file" when i browse and given the right path .iits again giving me the same pop and not throughing any error msg at least.
Could u pls help me out on this??Well, not supported does not necessarly mean does not work, but if you have problem, then your only way is to find a solution on your own or through other fellows who are doing the same.
Anyway, you could ask your question in the SQL Developer dedicated forum, but again, you could have some unexpected issues by working on non-supported config :

SQL Developer 1.1 Query Builder does not display connection tree
I have installed SQL Developer 1.1 on a PC running Windows XP SP2. I am connecting to Oracle 9.2.0.7.0.
After connecting to the database, I right click in the SQL Worksheet and select Query Builder and when the new window is displayed, there are no tables to select from.
What is causing this?Hi Antony,
Upgrading from SP7 to SP9 fixed a lot of problems for me! It's worth trying.
Problems solved for me:
Page requests take about 2 minutes to display page (now within a few seconds)
KM SQL logging (30-50Mb per minute) problem fixed.
There are some problems upgrading to SP9, but searching this forum will help you in finding some solutions for this

SQL Dev 1.1 doesn't reconnect when DB connection is lost
Sometimes I lose a DB connection when my VPN goes down, the DB instance is restarted, etc. In SQL Developer 1.0, I got some "connection reset" and other errors, but after running my query (F9) a couple more times in the same SQL Worksheet, it automatically reconnected. In 1.1 it just tells me "closed connection" every time. I have to go back to the "Connections" tab, right-click the particular DB, disconnect, and connect again. I don't see an option that might control this behavior. Any thoughts?
Kris, I'm very sorry to report you the reconnect option does not work.
The code is called, since the status bar does say "Reconnected.", but both the navigator tree and opened windows continue giving "connection closed" errors (vendor code 17008).
Upon invoking the navigator's context menu on the connection node, a logical exception is thrown, but including it anyway just in case:

SQL Developer Quick Migration wizard does not list the connections
Hi,
I have downloaded SQL Developer 2.1 and installed it in a different folder with the option to import connection definitions from the previous version (1.5). However, when using [Quick Migration], the connections do not appear in the dropdown. Even if a new one is created...
Does anyone know if there is a workaround ?....
Thank you.Hi Boris,
I see the confusion.
SQL Developer "Migration" features relate to non Oracle databases, like Sybase, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2, ...
So Quick Migrate allows you to choose a non Oracle database (connection) to migrate to Oracle.
Moving from Oracle 10g to Oracle 11g is really a Upgrade, although sometimes the word migration is used to confuse everyone :)
If you a upgrading an Oracle Application to Oracle 11g then there would be a specific process, check otn for this.
If you are upgrading your own Oracle database to Oracle 11g, then there are a number of ways.
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28300/toc.htm
http://kubilaykara.blogspot.com/2008/02/upgrade-oracle-10g-database-to-oracle.html
SQL Developer itself has a Database Copy and Database Export.
Have a read of the doc to see which one suits.
Regards,
Dermot.

SQL Developer 1.5.5 installs but won't connect to Oracle DB
An earlier version I'd been using for years just went dead on me, nearly crashing my PC in the process.
I installed 1.5.5 with its own JDK, and it launches without errors, but when I try to create a new connection, it gives me this crap: "no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path".
A perfect example of a completely useless error message. What's a "java.library.path"? Where is it? How do I fix it?
I couldn't find any uninstall utility for SQL Developer, so I just deleted the 'sqldeveloper' directories for both versions and re-installed. Same result, same useless error message.
I thought I might try this forum while I'm installing TOAD. Any suggestions? Anyone seen this before? If you're using TNS, try using the Basic connection type.
If that still doesn't work, you can try tricking sqldev by changing your ORACLE_HOME within a batch file inside sqldev's install folder. This would force using the supplied thin driver:
set ORACLE_HOME=%CD%
start sqldeveloper.exeHope that helps,

Blackberry Bold 9930
Verizon
OS - 7.1.0 Bundle 2705
Blackberry Desktop Software Version - 7.1.0.41
PC - Windows 7
I have a problem which recently surfaced when connecting my 9930 to my PC. In the past, when I have connected my PC, I have gotten three options (1) Charge Only (2) Media Synch (3) USB Drive. Several days ago, when I connected the 9930 to my PC the USB Drive option no longer shows up. I have always been able to see my Blackberry and the 32GB MicroSD card in contains in Windows Explorer; however, now, it does not show up. If I double click on Computer in Windows Explorer, I see two Removable Disks - E: and F:. When you double click on them, you get the message "Insert Removable Disk." I have ensure that Media Card Support in checked under Storage in Options. I have done a reset. I have pulled the battery. I have uninstalled the Blackberry Desktop Software and reinstalled it - all to no avail. I have also connected this device to two other Windows 7 PCs and it doesn’t show up on either PC. It encounters an error while trying to down load drivers on of which pertains to MTB drivers. I have also gone into Device Manager and uninstalled the drivers associated with the 9930 and reinstalled them. Nothing has worked. I have removed the microsd card and replaced it. I have upgraded the BB OS to the most current version. If anyone has any ideas to pursue, I would appreciate their insight.Hey Panthus,
You have covered alot by testing with a new media card and with a different PC, I would suggest backing up and doing a clean reload of the BlackBerry device software as shown here: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320
