SQL generated by Discoverer

Hi all,
Could somebody post a sql code generated by discoverer that include LOV ?
In this moment i'm not able to access the discoverer to see the code.
Thank you very much,
Dani

Hi,
Which version of Discoverer are you using ?
Are you using Discoverer Desktop/Plus/Viewer ? In Disocverer Desktop and Plus, you can go to View > Show SQL.
Everytime when you run a report, Discoverer generates a new SQL query, based on the folders, joins.
The LOVs (Item classes in Discoverer) wont be included in SQL query as they are created independently.
Hope this Helps!

  • SQL generated by EIS for Drill Through

Hello,<BR>We are currently using EIS 7.1 on AIX. When we run a drill through report on a large flat dimensional member there are two separate SQLs generated. The first SQL has a where condition with appx. half of the child members and the second one with second half. Is this due to any kind of limitation on he length of the SQL generated?<BR>If so is there any way to work around with this?<BR>THanks a lot in advance<BR>Kris

How to see the SQL (OLAP DML) generated by Discoverer for OLAP
    Posted: Aug 30, 2007 9:30 AM Reply
    Hi,
I originally posted this query on the Discoverer forum, but it was then suggested to post it here in the OLAP forum. Please help.........
Is there a way to see the SQL (OLAP DML) generated by Discoverer for OLAP (the way we have "View SQL" in Discoverer Relational). The version in use is 10.1.2.48.18.

Directly within Discoverer for OLAP (or Viewer)? No - because there is no way to change the behaviour of the generated SQL, you cannot add hints or create any MVs to change the SQL generated. You can trace the SQL generated during a Disco for OLAP query though by switching on some of the OLAP tuning and diagnostic features. There is more information contained in the Discoverer for OLAP Best Practices Guide:

  • View log not showing physical SQL generated in OBIEE 11.1.1.6.7

    Hi,
I am currently using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.7 version. In this version I am unable to view the physical SQL generated by OBIEE under Administration --> Manage Marketing Jobs --> Select a Job --> Click on View SQL OR Administration --> Manage Sessions--> Select a Job --> Click on View SQL. It is not showing the physical SQL generated by OBIEE for a report or segment which I have executed.
It was available in previous version i.e. OBIEE 10.1.3.4.2.
I have searched in metalink and it has been suggested to use the following <Filters> section into instanceconfig.xml file. I have added the following details into existing instanceconfig.xml file and then restarted the BI services. Still the problem persist.

    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
We used to view the log details (physical SQL) using Manage Marketing Jobs in OBIEE10g.
In OBIEE11g we can see the job details and when selecting a job (under Action column Details link) there is an option in left pane as 'View Log'. If I click on 'View Log' it is showing as 'No Logs Found'.
Just wanted to confirm if this is an issue in OBIEE11g.
Also, I believe there is a limitation in 'Manage Session' to view the number of job details whereas in 'Manage Marketing Jobs' section we can increase the number of jobs to be displayed.
    Thanks,

  • How to use Pl/Sql function in Discoverer report

    Hi Everybody,
Would you be able to provide a workflow/guidance how to use sql function in Discoverer right from creating the function using PLSQL Developer.
(I am new to Oracle environment... prev. worked as analyst with Microsoft Access... took PL/Sql class in school a few years ago)
    We are using Discoverer Desktop.
    a) Just emailed dba for permission to create pl/sql function.
    b) Recently got Discoverer Administrator installed on my pc.
can you pls add to the list:
    c)....
    d)....
    etc.?
    tx for your help, sandra

    Hi Kranthi,
    Thx for your warm words....
The links you provided are great! Thx soooo much!
Thanks to you and the rest of forum members, am able to use what you've all taught me
with other Discoverer reports.... so i was able to do more on my own....
About a month ago, I got access to Discoverer Admin, and was able to paste SQL to create a custom folder.
Then i joined the custom folder to an existing baseline folder.
I have found that sometimes when I use calc within a calc when the calcs use analytic functions, that Discoverer
just displays null in the column. I thought that maybe instead I could create my own function as a work-around.
I wrote IT for permissions to create views, functions etc. Hopefully, they'll approve and can move toward learning
    pl/sql functions for Discoverer.
    tx again, sandra

  • [NQQuery log]: Physical SQL generated agaisnt 2 Database in OBIEE 11g

    Hi Experts,
I have a problem regarding the physical SQL generated by Query log.
    So this is the setup.
    SCENARIO 1:
    Oracle Data Warehouse DB
    - col1
    - col2
    - col3
    OLAP_OBIEE
    - col4
When I run these columns together in Analysis. It seems like the physical SQL generated in the Query log is partitioned with each other and I cant get the exact SQL so I can make comparison with the total record count in Analysis UI and the SQL developer.
select col1, col2, col3 from Oracle Data Warehouse tables
    select col4 from OLAP_OBIEE tables
    ================================================================
    SCENARIO 2:
    Oracle Data Warehouse DB
    - col1
    - col2
    - col3
    - col4
Running these columns together in Analysis. I am wondering why the physical SQL is somewhat also partitioned just like in SCENARIO 1.
select col1, col2, col3 from Oracle Data Warehouse tables
select col4 from Oracle Data Warehouse tables
Hope that you get what am I trying to say. :(
    Thanks,

Based on what you said, so it is impossible to merge the physical SQL if we use 2 Database right?

  • JDEV 10.1.3 EJB 3.0 Is it a way in JDev to monitor the sql generated

Is it a easy way to monitor/log the sql generated by top link (ejb 3.0 with top link as cmp) directly in JDeveloper (embededd oc4j)

Deleting the bean class sources from JDev don't delete the compiled class and the wizard will add a sequential number to the entity bean name and source file. This is not very convenient. As workaround you will have to delete the class file.

  • HELP : customize SQL generated

    Hi,
I've followed the Tutorial 'Generating a Struts-based JSP Application for an
Application Module', where I'm working with only one table.
When I run the 'main.html', on the left side ( navigator ), there are 'Browse' and 'Query' options.
Every time I click on 'Browse', I always have this error :
Error Message: JBO-26044: Error while getting estimated row count for view object TimesheetView1, statement
    SELECT count(1) FROM (SELECT Timesheet.ts_id, Timesheet.ts_user, Timesheet.ts_code, Timesheet.ts_date, Timesheet.ts_hour
    FROM timesheet Timesheet) ESTCOUNT
    My config are :
    * Win2K
    * JAVA_HOME set to j2sdk1.4.1_01
    * mySQL 3.23.49 with JDBC driver mysql-connector-java-2.0.14-bin.jar
    * I use ultraDevHack=true as parameter within the URL
    * JDev 9.0.3 prod release
Even with 'ultraDevHack=true' parameter, the subselect still not working.
I've seen in the forum that JDev Team have tried with that parameter, and it worked,
but it didn't mention with which version of mySQL and which JDBC driver.
I would like to modify the above SQL into a simpler one 'SELECT COUNT(*) FROM timesheet'.
    Anybody know how ?
The View Object Wizard didn't help me at all for the above SQL.
In fact I would like to fully controled, modified, or cuztomised all SQL generated.
Back to main.html, the header contains two buttons 'BC4J Admin' and 'Help'.
When I click on 'BC4J Admin', I have this :

    Why is that ?
Out of scope, sometimes it's very slow accessing this forum ( 'Connection timed out' or 'The specified network name is no longer available' ...).
Any of you have the same problem ?
Is it possible to put some criterias within the Search, i.e. Sort by Date ?
    Thanks for any help.

CR4E and the Crystal Report Designer both has access to the SQL Command Object that you're trying to work with.
However, CR4E uses the Eclipse functionality - the SQL Command Scratchpad - that has more limitations than the Command Object editor in Crystal Report Designer.

    * Win2K
    * JAVA_HOME set to j2sdk1.4.1_01
    * mySQL 3.23.49 with JDBC driver mysql-connector-java-2.0.14-bin.jar
    * I use ultraDevHack=true as parameter within the URL
    500 Internal Server Error
    OracleJSP: oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException:
    Errors compiling:C:\usr\J2EE\JDEV\system9.0.3.1035\oc4j-config\application-deployments\bc4j\webapp\persistence\_pages\_wm\_bc4j.java

    2 errors
    Why is that ?
Out of scope, sometimes it's very slow accessing this forum ( 'Connection timed out' or 'The specified network name is no longer available' ...).
Any of you have the same problem ?
Is it possible to put some criterias within the Search, i.e. Sort by Date ?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Can we change physical SQL generated by BI Server?

    Hello gurus:
I have a doubt. How can we change the physical SQL generated by OBIEE?
is there any way we can modify the SQL Cost?
    Let me know.
    Thanks.
    Vinay R.

So If I have a View and a physical table, so View will have lower cost compared to Table?
Can you explain a bit more about this? There is absolutely no way we can estimate the cost of a view or a table we don't know. There are too many variables so your question is too wide and unprecise. Generally speaking views that select from only one table do not add any extra cost to the execution plan, Oracle will convert them to the underlaying table. Having said the usual reason to have a view is to join different tables and apply some data filtering conditions so it will depend a lot on what kind of query you are running.

  • How can I extract the native SQL generated by TopLink?

How can I extract the native SQL generated by TopLink?
This is useful for example to use pagination, or pass the SQL to a stored procedure that may do many things, like using a cursor, or apply security.
Pagination example where the SQL inside the inner parentheses are generated from Toplink, and the outer SQL is generic:
    select *
    from
    (select xx.*, rownum as rn
    from
    (select o.order_id, r.name, ...
    from placed_order o, restaurant r
    where o.restaurant_id = r.restaurant_id
    order by o.order_ext_id
    ) xx
    where rownum < 21)
    where rn > 10

Alternatively, you can open your sessions.xml in the Mapping Workbench and for a specific session, you can Click the Login Tab and then the Options tab. Then select "Native SQL" and it will be outputted to the console (assuming that is where you outputing it).

  • Portal SearchOps: Can I see the SQL generated?

Is there a way to see the SQL generated by a content search?
We have started to move a project into production which is querying against a DB2 database, and I fear that a date range constraint in our query is failing to be exercised.
    Thanks,
    -mike

If you're familiar with using debug.properties, add this to your debug.properties file:
    usePackageNames: on
    com.bea.content: on
When you start the server, pass this option in:
    -Ddebug.properties=[your debug.properties file, including path]
The output will be rather verbose, and you might be able to narrow it down by replacing
    com.bea.content: on
    with
    com.bea.content.repo.internal.server.logic.SearchOpsLogic: on
    com.bea.content.repo.internal.server.common: on

  • Different sql generated in CR4E compared to standalone CR?

<p>Hi,</p><p>We are currently working with CR4E and have found that a report generates different results in CR4E previewer than the standalone Crystal reports previewer - and upon closer inspection the sql statements are different.</p><p>We are running oracle (with thin client driver) and the problem seems to stem from join types - we cannot specify a join type in CR4E, but this can be specified in standalone CR - resulting in incorrect results in CR4E (we frquently need to use left outer joins). I am guessing that the sql generation code in CR4E does not understand the join types specified in the report file generated in standalone CR - is this a known problem? Is there a standard migration procedure - we really need to be able to preview reports correctly in both apps.</p><p>We already have a workaround of copying the sql generated by the standalone report and using this as a complete sql command within the report - but this is obviously far from ideal for our needs.<br /></p><p>Also, when is CR4E likely to support join types - this is a key requirement for us.   </p><p>Many Thanks,</p><p>Peter</p>

<p> Hi Peter,</p><p>   If you believe the root of your issue is linked to the Join type then you can modify this today in Crystal Reports for Eclipse. Below is a screenshot that demonstrates where this option is exposed. Essentially, if you change to the Outline View while on the data pane, when you select the Link in the Outline view you will see the Join type exposed in the Properties View </p><p><img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/151/396642555_e96c727e2f_o.jpg" alt="Demonstrating Joins in CR4E" title="Joins in CR4E" width="1280" height="1024" /></p><p>Give this a try and let me know if it resolves your issue. </p><p>Regards,<br />Sean Johnson (CR4E Product Manager) <br /><br /> <strong><a href="http://www.eclipseplugincentral.com/Web_Links-index-req-ratelink-lid-639.html">Rate this plugin @ Eclipse Plugin Central</a></strong>          </p>

  • Need information in SQL generated after

    Hi Experts,
SQL generated after executing the query always includes Data Package Dimension table & Unit Dimensional table .Can any help me in knowing why it is like that Or what is the concept behind.
    Thanks & Regards
    Sameer Khan

    Hi Sameer,
Whenever a query is run, a SQL statement is triggered to fetch data from the BW server. In this process, the selections are passed to BW for fetching data for the Characetristics and keyfigures present in Initial query view. The DataPackage, Time and Units are the once to be filled first as these are the characteristics in default dimensions.
For free characetristics, as and when they are drilled again a Sub-SQL query is generated to fetch data corresponding to the free characteristic in the query. In case of attributes, SID's are used to fetch the attribute values from master data tables.
Also note the places where the SQL query looks for data in order:
BI Accelerator (If Implemented) -> Query Cache -> Aggregates (If any) -> DataTargets -> Master data tables.
Please let me know if you need any more information.
    Regards,
    Pankaj

  • Edit SQL generated from Automatic Row Processing (DML)

Is there any way to see/edit the insert/update SQL that is run when using the "Form with Report" wizard ? I've used the wizard to generate a list of rows from a table, with edit buttons next to each line. The Edit button links to a detail screen where the user can Create/Update/Delete.
I have NOT NULL fields on each row that are auto-populated using triggers, so they are marked as read only on the Detail screen, but set to Optional since the user is not required (or even allowed) to set them. This works for inserts, but when App Express does an update, it sets the fields to NULL (or so I assume, based on the error message), so the update fails.
The whole point of using this tool was because the wizards make it so easy to put screens up, I hate to have to write it myself....
I don't understand why the tool would set the fields to NULL anyway, when they have values already. If all fields need to be updated, it should just update them to their current values. Am I missing something here?

Well, scratch that. I wrote too fast.
    Tabular form doesn't work either.
Is there any way to make a non-updatable column updateable AFTER you use the Tabular Form wizard?
Is there any way to allow the user to define the Primary Key? I've tried to make the field updateable, or even just show it, but the system does not hold my changes on save.
