Different sql generated in CR4E compared to standalone CR?

Hi,We are currently working with CR4E and have found that a report generates different results in CR4E previewer than the standalone Crystal reports previewer - and upon closer inspection the sql statements are different.We are running oracle (with thin client driver) and the problem seems to stem from join types - we cannot specify a join type in CR4E, but this can be specified in standalone CR - resulting in incorrect results in CR4E (we frquently need to use left outer joins). I am guessing that the sql generation code in CR4E does not understand the join types specified in the report file generated in standalone CR - is this a known problem? Is there a standard migration procedure - we really need to be able to preview reports correctly in both apps.We already have a workaround of copying the sql generated by the standalone report and using this as a complete sql command within the report - but this is obviously far from ideal for our needs. Also, when is CR4E likely to support join types - this is a key requirement for us. Many Thanks,Peter

Hi Peter, If you believe the root of your issue is linked to the Join type then you can modify this today in Crystal Reports for Eclipse. Below is a screenshot that demonstrates where this option is exposed. My Db architect on code review suggest me that those two functions are almost the same except the sql string it does generate. So If I have a View and a physical table, so View will have lower cost compared to Table?
Can you explain a bit more about this?There is absolutely no way we can estimate the cost of a view or a table we don't know. There are too many variables so your question is too wide and unprecise. Generally speaking views that select from only one table do not add any extra cost to the execution plan, Oracle will convert them to the underlaying table. Having said the usual reason to have a view is to join different tables and apply some data filtering conditions so it will depend a lot on what kind of query you are running.

HELP : customize SQL generated

Hi,
I've followed the Tutorial 'Generating a Struts-based JSP Application for an
Application Module', where I'm working with only one table.
When I run the 'main.html', on the left side ( navigator ), there are 'Browse' and 'Query' options.
Every time I click on 'Browse', I always have this error :

My config are :
* Win2K

* mySQL 3.23.49 with JDBC driver mysql-connector-java-2.0.14-bin.jar
* I use ultraDevHack=true as parameter within the URL
* JDev 9.0.3 prod release
Even with 'ultraDevHack=true' parameter, the subselect still not working.
I've seen in the forum that JDev Team have tried with that parameter, and it worked,
but it didn't mention with which version of mySQL and which JDBC driver.
I would like to modify the above SQL into a simpler one 'SELECT COUNT(*) FROM timesheet'.
Anybody know how ?
The View Object Wizard didn't help me at all for the above SQL.
In fact I would like to fully controled, modified, or cuztomised all SQL generated.
Back to main.html, the header contains two buttons 'BC4J Admin' and 'Help'.
When I click on 'BC4J Admin', I have this :

CR4E and the Crystal Report Designer both has access to the SQL Command Object that you're trying to work with.
However, CR4E uses the Eclipse functionality - the SQL Command Scratchpad - that has more limitations than the Command Object editor in Crystal Report Designer.

You would just required created two data sources which points to both your SQL Servers. And inside report you can create datasets based on each of these data sources to retrieve and display the data from them. In cases where you would require merging the
data from both the systems you can use functions like Lookup, LookupSet etc. Reports created in SSRS can be rendered in a variety of formats like Excel, PDF, CSV etc

Conditional Display of Interactive Report Based On Different SQL Query

Hello,
I have two drop down list on top of my page and below that I have a interactive report.
Based on user selection of values from drop down, interactive report should change based on different SQL queries.
Is it possible to have different SQL queries based on values from drop down and generate interactive report based on that?

View log not showing physical SQL generated in OBIEE 11.1.1.6.7

I am currently using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.7 version. In this version I am unable to view the physical SQL generated by OBIEE under Administration --> Manage Marketing Jobs --> Select a Job --> Click on View SQL OR Administration --> Manage Sessions--> Select a Job --> Click on View SQL. It is not showing the physical SQL generated by OBIEE for a report or segment which I have executed.
It was available in previous version i.e. OBIEE 10.1.3.4.2.
I have searched in metalink and it has been suggested to use the following <Filters> section into instanceconfig.xml file. I have added the following details into existing instanceconfig.xml file and then restarted the BI services. Still the problem persist.

Thanks for the reply.
We used to view the log details (physical SQL) using Manage Marketing Jobs in OBIEE10g.
In OBIEE11g we can see the job details and when selecting a job (under Action column Details link) there is an option in left pane as 'View Log'. If I click on 'View Log' it is showing as 'No Logs Found'.
Just wanted to confirm if this is an issue in OBIEE11g.
Also, I believe there is a limitation in 'Manage Session' to view the number of job details whereas in 'Manage Marketing Jobs' section we can increase the number of jobs to be displayed.

Variable reuse with different sql clauses

Is it possible to reuse the same variable with different sql queries in packages....
Example:
i have a variable say
1)variable name: filename
2)query in variable: select 'emp.txt' from dual
so using this variable name in data store, i am passing file name dynamically, but i need to change the file name emp.txt to dept.txt if emp.txt feed is missing.
One solution from my side is using one dump table having file name. any more without using db tables

As of my understanding from your reply, in third step we can give only string like 'emp1.txt', is not possible to write query like in assign mode: select 'dept'||to_char(sysdate,'yyyymmdd') from dual

Is it possible to show data from two different sql tables? Either to show combined data by using a join on a foreign key or showing a typical master detail view?
I have one table With data about a house, and another table With URL's to images in the blob. Could these two be combined in the same Gallery?

I have 2 different SQL statements and I must use datas that comes from both queries in same RTF template. I use XML Publisher tools in MS Word and I couldn't run my 2 sql statements in below window;

For example i can have alerts for late orders, alerts for shipping not confirmed, so really different address (I dont want to use union). I have done three sql statement in data template , it gives the following ouput.

I woud like the bursting or data template to group alerts when email is the same, because here it sends an email for each different alert.
Ideal output would be:

<G_ALERTS_1>
<ALERT>
</ALERT>
<ALERT>
</ALERT>
</G_ALERTS_1>
<G_ALERTS_2>
</G_ALERTS_2>
</GA_EMAIL>
But I don't know how to group different sql statements on a common field (email)

the for-each group works well in a rtf template, but the rtf template is only applied after the bursting (in order I get first data template (instead of a report) -> bursting -> rtf template)
I want to be able to group xml data from the data template, so I can do bursting (by email ) but only once per mail.

[NQQuery log]: Physical SQL generated agaisnt 2 Database in OBIEE 11g

Hi Experts,
I have a problem regarding the physical SQL generated by Query log.
So this is the setup.
SCENARIO 1:
Oracle Data Warehouse DB
- col1
- col2
- col3
OLAP_OBIEE
- col4
When I run these columns together in Analysis. It seems like the physical SQL generated in the Query log is partitioned with each other and I cant get the exact SQL so I can make comparison with the total record count in Analysis UI and the SQL developer.
select col1, col2, col3 from Oracle Data Warehouse tables
select col4 from OLAP_OBIEE tables
================================================================
SCENARIO 2:
Oracle Data Warehouse DB
- col1
- col2
- col3
- col4
Running these columns together in Analysis. I am wondering why the physical SQL is somewhat also partitioned just like in SCENARIO 1.

Sorry for the confusion, in my Analysis report, I have a report where it generates 2 physical SQL in one Database, also I have a report where it uses 2 Database which also generates 2 physical SQL.
