SQL In command with parameter

Hi ,
When i tried to execute this query it returns empty data set.did i miss something or is it not allowed to use ?
SQL:
String sql=" select * from customer where customerId in( ?)";
objConnection = super.getConnection();
stmt1 = objConnection.prepareStatement(sql);
stmt1.setString(1, id); //here id format will be ('100','102'......)
resultSet = stmt1.executeQuery();
Thanks in advance.

You mean something like...

    Can you put your coding between code statements, like shown in the FAQ. It will be easier to read.
    Looking at your script, my first guess is that crontab will not find your sqlplus since your script does not have $HOME/bin in the $PATH. From what I understand, running .profile in your script will not work either because variables are exported to sub-shells, not to the shell above. You can call your script with a dot like . ./script which means that the script will run like it was typed at the command prompt. But it will be less confusing to define appropriate variables in the script. eg.
    ORACLE_SID=my_instance_name
    ORACLE_HOME=/my_path_to_oracle_home_directory
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
    PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
    I remember some slightly different way of coding to handle the sqlplus return codes.
    For instance:
    sqlplus -s /nolog > /dev/null <<-EOF
    connect system/manager
    @ssm.sql
    whenever oserror exit failure
    whenever sqlerror exit failure
    EOF
    sql_err=$?
    if [ $sql_err -ne 0 ]; then
       echo "FAILURE"
    else
       echo "SUCCESS"
    fiThe - in -EOF supresses tab's
    Using connect will prevent ps from showing your login credentials
    In some versions of bash the ending EOF needs to be at the beginning of the line to work.

    Btw, if you "source" a script running it like . .script, than an exit in that script will log you out.

  • SQL Expression field with parameter

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a SQL Expression Field that will give me the maximum status date of an employee before a certain date entered in parameter.
    ex: select max(status_date) from status where status_date < formula field or parameter
    Since I can not put a paramter or a formula field in a SQL Expression field, I might need a template or an example of something that works ?
    Thank's
    Steph
    Edited by: Stephanie Charest on Aug 4, 2008 7:59 PM

    Ok,
    The only way I found to get the maximum status date of an employee with the date entered in parameter was to litteraly put each employee ID, and Status Date in the Detail section.
    Then in the select expert create the parameter date.
    Then I created a running total field that counts the employees and resets on change of employee sorted by status date.
    Then I created a formula that gets all the first occurences of this running total field and if the running total field equals 1, a new formula field shows 1 and if not (2 and more), it shows 0.
    But I can't find the way to give me the total that I need for each group sections.
    It's ok if the SQL expression field does not work, but I need to find a way to get the max date.
    Thank's for your help for the SQL Expression field.

  • Apps sql loader progarm with parameter.

    Hi,
    I have registered a sql loader progarm in Oracle apps. But I want to supply data file name at the time I submit the request for the program. How should I define and use the parameters for supplying data file name as a command line argument.
    Reson for this I have to upload 8 diffrent files, so i am planing to use data file name as a parameter.
    Thanks in advance

  • Using SQL "IN" command with PreparedStatements

    SELECT *, OTODPT FROM OEORDer
    where OTODPT IN ('RAD','LAB')
    Can you do the following with the above code:
    stmt_ = jdbcConnection_.prepareStatement(SELECT *, OTODPT FROM OEORDer where OTODPT IN (?) );
    if so what needs to be set for the PreparedStatement?
    I have tried stmt_.setString(1, "'RAD','LAB'");
    but noting was returned.

    I noticed in another thread the jschell had answered your question for another poster. Here is what he said:
    String str="select lastname from account where userid
    in ( ? )";You can't do that.
    The only solution is to create the SQL String dynamically yourself. You can either create it using the correct number of '?' to fill it, or just create it with the actual data.
    >
    Replace x with 'Tom', 'Steve' or ..
    "Tom, Steve"And the reason it doesn't work is because it ends up looking like this
    ...where userid in ( 'Tom, Steve')

  • SQL IN clause with Bind parameter?

    Hi
    I have a simple task that hasn't been so simple to figure out. I want to allow a user to search for one or more comma-separated values in a simple JClient ADF app. Is there a way to use a SQL IN clause with a single bind variable? e.g. SELECT TITLE FROM CITATION WHERE ID IN (:0)
    When I pass a single value it works fine but a comma separated list doesn't.
    Thanks
    John

    Update: I wanted to combine the techniques found in two of Steve Muench's articles -
    1) Providing Default Values for View Object Bind Variables (so I could display an ADF-bound JPanel with defaults)
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2004/10/07/providingDefaultValuesForViewObjectBindVariables.html
    2) Array of String Domain Example (so a user could enter one or more comma-separated values into a text box for DB searches)
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2004/09/23/notYetDocumentedAdfSampleApplications.html
    I learned some helpful stuff about the framework but spent lots of time banging my head against the wall because the two examples wouldn't work when directly combined. To best understand this, be sure to study Steve's examples above.
    In example 1 Steve passes an array of objects (Object[] DEFAULT_VALUES) to the ViewObject's where clause using the setWhereClauseParams(Object[] values). However, in example 2 he creates an Oracle Array which contains an Oracle ArrayDescriptor, Connection, and array of values to pass to the "IN" bind variable. Also, example 1 allows for multiple bind vars to be included whereas example 2 allows for an array of data to be passed to a single bind var. Even though my code provides an array to a single bind var (per ex. 2) it should still allow for the passage of multiple bind vars with minimal code modification.
    Code from Steve's example 1 was copied into my EmpView ViewObject but certain modifications were necessary:
    1) Change the ViewObject's DEFAULT_VALUES from Object[] to String[].
    2) Modify the executeQueryForCollection() method in the ViewObject to call a function which will set the bind variables as Oracle Arrays (effectively converting the "params" data type from that of String[] to Oracle Array[])
    3) Create a setManagerID(String[]) method in the EmpView object and expose it to the client.
    (there are a number of others so it's best for you to go through the code and compare)
    I finally got it working so I'm attaching the code, however beware - I'm new to this so there may be other, better ways to go about it. Also, there are no framework bind vars so that section of code is never executed...it compiles but may fail at run time.
    In order for this to work I suggest you use JDev to re-create the EmpView and Panel1 objects. This will ensure that the necessary ADF framework components are generated. Once complete, then copy in the code provided.

  • Generate Report from SQL Query with Parameter

    I have a web application that needs to generate static PDF reports. What I want to do is:
    1. Use Acrobat to create a form
    2. Open the form programmatically on the webserver
    3. Pass it a parameter such as a "clientID"
    4. Automatically populate the rest of the form using a SQL stored procedure with the clientID as the parameter
    5. Save the form as a static, non-editable PDF and display it for the client to either view/save/print
    Example:
    Database would contain a table called Clients
    ID LastName Location Phone
    1 Doe New York 111-111-1111
    2 Smith California 222-222-2222
    Stored Procedure
    CREATE PROCEDURE GetClient
    @id int
    AS
    SELECT LastName, Location FROM Clients WHERE ID = @id
    GO
    Acrobat Form
    Last Name: [txtLastName]
    Location: [txtLocation]
    Website user requests report for clientID=1. Result is a PDF that looks like this:
    Last Name: Doe
    Location: New York
    I am very new to Acrobat, so please explain in detail how I can go about doing this. Thanks very much in advance.

  • Using sql query with parameter

    OK, I can't find any docs on this. I can insert a parameter, but how do I insert that into the sql query?

    Your first post asked how to insert a paremeter into a SQL. My example shows a value read query with a SQL function, but any SQL will work with any Query in the same pattern.
    a) You call the query with session.executeQuery(query, vectorOfArguments);
    b) You use #argument in the SQL string and then query.addArgument("argument");
    c) You pass them in a Vector of the order in which you do the addArgument's.

    Hi,
    what is the SQL Plus command to print a report in Landscape format?SQLPlus doesn't print, and it doesn't know about 'landscape' vs. 'portrait' any more than it knows about fonts. the only 'formatting' it knows is line size, page size. And all it does with line size is know where to insert a CR/LF pair (windows) or a CR (*nix). The only thing it knows to do with page size is repeat column headers.
    The rest is up to whatever application you use to open the pure asciii text spool file.

  • How to add byte[] array based Image to the SQL Server without using parameter

    how to add byte[] array based Image to the SQL Server without using parameter.I have a column in table with the type image in sql and i want to add image array to the sql image column like below:
    I want to add image (RESIM) to the procedur like shown above but sql accepts byte[] RESIMI like System.Drowing. I whant that  sql accepts byte [] array like sql  image type
    not using cmd.ParametersAdd() method
    here is Isle() method content

    SQL Server binary constants use a hexadecimal format:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179899.aspx
    You'll have to build that string from a byte array yourself:
    byte[] bytes = ...
    StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder("0x", 2 + bytes.Length * 2);
    foreach (var b in bytes)
    builder.Append(b.ToString("X2"));
    string binhex = builder.ToString();
    That said, what you're trying to do - not using parameters - is the wrong thing to do. Not only it is insecure due to the risk of SQL injection but in the case of binary data is also inefficient since these hex strings are larger than the original byte[]
    data.

  • SQL Mode Command to update database table

    Hi All,
    I have a couple of scenarios which I need help with:
    1)
    - I have a sql query which pulls two columns lets say Equipment and a val1 from a sql database table displayed in a grid.
    - Once the user clicks on a record I have two text boxes which get the value of the selected records on the same page (equipment, val1).
    - I then have an update button, wherein they can change the value of the val1 column.
    I have created a sql query of mode command with an update statement. My question is, how do I execute this update query from the webpage, I know how to assign the parameters so the get passed to the update query I just am not sure how to kick off the update query. Do I have to have it as part of an applet to even refer to it from within my webpage? If so, don't I have to assign an applet a display template? (this command query does not have an output). Please help...
    Thanks,
    Mahwish

    I have done scenario 2, but its not easy.  This is how I did it.
    Instead of using the iGrid applet, I used an XSLT stylesheet to create a "grid" of input boxes in HTML that allow direct editing of the value.  At the end of each row you had an "update" button that passed the value of the updated box, and the corresponding information you need for icommand update.  You can either display the information you need for the update query in the "grid"  or you can use hidden form objects to store the information.   Indexing is pretty easy, you just name the form elements by positions  (eg. frmTxtR1C1)  for example.
    The solution is not for the faint of heart, takes some development time and a fair amount of XSLT knowledge, but if you need this functionality repeatedly in your application, it works great.  It looks really slick too because you can do things like change the color of your form after you have updated it so the user knows there has been a change.    Of course there are always multiple ways to attack a problem I love hearing other suggestions.
