Sql lite database possible
I have not tried it
but can we do a sql lite database with iphones?Or is this only possible with air for android?
I found out why I couldn't save. In case anyone's interested, the SQLite database I included when publishing the .ipa file is stored in the read-only application directory. You have to copy the database (or text file/XML etc) to the app's storage directory.
There's a superb explanation and very useful bit of code here: http://blog.ericd.net/?p=315

Synchronizing AiR SQL Lite with Server MySQL
Hi Folks,
I have a need to keep my AiR application's local data (in SQL Lite) in sync with my Server side data (in MySQL).
If possible (please tell me if it is or not) I was thinking of building on the server a copy of an SQL Lite database that would contain all of the CRUD records for the previous hour (for an hourly sync scheme) that was also encrypted and then each client AiR app would simply download that SQL Lite db and merge it into the local master. I am thinking of this because I have found online storage that does not charge for bandwidth.
However, are there better schemes?
Is there perhaps an encryptable transaction log file that can be downloaded and applied to the desktop SQL Lite db?
How would you do such a synchronization?
Can XML files be encrypted on the server then decrypted by AiR on the client, reasonably safely?
Also, even for encrypting the local AiR SQL Lite db, how does one hide the encryption key or rather, where can I read up on this whole issue?
Thanks,
VCHey,
I'm trying to read some information from database
se with SQL Query. How I can put the parameter that I
get from previous *.jsp page to SQL query?
Technologies that I use are WML, JSP and MySQL.
I can get the parameter by method getParameter()
() and it is correct.
But how to but the requested parameter into sql
ql query and complete the sql query?
Should I read it to some variable before putting it
it to sql query?

out.println("<p>periodi"+request.getParameter("periodi"
"loppu</p>");
/* this doesn't work */
ResultSet tulokset = lause.executeQuery("select * from
kurssi where
periodi='+request.getParameter("periodi")+'");
/* this doesn't work */
String periodi=request.getParameter("periodi");
ResultSet tulokset = lause.executeQuery("select *
* from kurssi where periodi='periodi' '");
Thanks,
RampeTry this
ResultSet tulokset = lause.executeQuery("select * from kurssi where periodi=" + "'" +request.getParameter("periodi")+"' " );this should work -
Is it possible to link existing Sharepoint 2010 lists to SQL server databases?
I created a SQL server database and added a table to it. Then I used Sharepoint Designer 2010 to create an external
Content Type using this table. Now I can alter the according Sharepoint list which then again performs CRUD operations on the said database table.
Now I want to do the same with a existing list which already contains data. In other words, I want to synchronize already filled lists to a table in my
SQL Server database. As I am new to Sharepoint this is the only solution I can think of.
I would create a table in my database which contains the very same columns as my already existing Sharepoint list does. Then I would proceed as described above. Namely I would use
Sharepoint Designer to create an External Content Type. This would generate a new list which would be connected to my database table. Now I would copy the complete data from the
original list to the newly created and synchronized list. This way the data should also be synchronized with the database table now. Now I would simply delete the
old list.
I somehow have the feeling this is not a clean solution for my task. Is there any easier or cleaner way to do this? Is this even possible?It's clean enough, although if I remember correctly you can't bulk upload the data to an external list. If bulk upload isn't available, writing a little script that syncs the data is probably the easiest way to do it, and then delete the old list.
Kind regards,

Hi,
I have installed the x64 SQL Server 2008 R2 Express with default settings and run MBSA 2.3 (using default settings too). It shows three SQL Server instances: MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS, SQLEXPRESS and SQLEXPRESS (32-bit). For the first, authentication
mode is Windows, for the rest two - mixed. Here https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/03e470dc-874d-476d-849b-c805acf5b24d/sql-mbsa-question-on-folder-permission?forum=sqlsecurity question
about such multiple instances was asked and the answer is that "MSSQL10.TEST_DB
is the instance ID for the SQL Server Database Engine of the instance, TEST_DB", so in my case, it seems that MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS is the instance ID for SQL Server Database Engine of the SQLEXPRESS instance.
I have two questions:
1) How can it be that SQL Server DB Engine instance has different authentication mode than corresponding SQL Server Instance?
2) Why 32-bit instance reported although I installed only 64-bit version?
Also, this https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/security/en-US/6b12c019-eaf0-402c-ab40-51d31dce968f/mbsa-23-reporting-sql-32bt-instance-is-running-in-mixed-mode-when-it-is-set-to-integrated?forum=MBSA question seems to be related to this
issue, but there is no answer :(.
Upd: Tried on clean Windows 8 installation and Windows 7 with the same result.Because I DO NOT want the three people who will be having access to the production SQL Server to also have access to the primary host ProductionA. Since I have to allow them to RDC into the box to manage the SQL Server, I figure why not create
a separate VM for each one of them and they can RDC into those instead.
Does this make any sense?
Any tips are greatly appreciated. The main reason for doing this is because the three people who will be accessing the box, I need to isolate each one of them and at the same time keep them off of the primary ProductionA.
Thanks for your help.
M
Hello M,
Since you dont want the 3 guys to have access to Production machine A.You can install SQL Server client .By client i mean SQL server management studio(SSMS) on there local desktop and then create login for them in SQL Server.Open port on which your SQL server
is running for three of the machines so that they can connct.Now with SSMS installed on each machine each can connect to SQL server from there own machine.
I would also like you to be cautious with giving Sysadmin privilege to all three of them ,first please note down what task they would do and then decide what rights to be provided.
Your option will also work but you need to create 3 VM for that .Which is more tedious task.
Hope this helps

Config of multiple SQL-Server databases without multiple gateways-possible?
Hi Guys
Can someone tell me if there's any way of connecting to different SQL Server databases (using Transparent Gateway) WITHOUT having to create multiple gateways?
I have read in various sources that I MUST create one gateway per target database. I was contemplating a workaround such as creating a sysadmin SS user (and using these credentials in the db link) and trying to access any one of the databases within the SS instance. As I'm sure you know, you can query a SS database via a sysadmin user like:
select * from my_db.dbo.my_table
I realise it was a long shot to execute this from Oracle select * from my_db.dbo.my_table@my_dblink and yes....it didn't work.
We have SS databases that are constantly dropped, recreated, renamed etc so we don't want to configure transparent gateway for a database only for it to be dropped 5 minutes later.
Thanks in advance, Jon
Edited by: user10240703 on 01-Oct-2009 03:07Thanks! I'm sure that's the fella...but things still progressing at snails pace.
after (somehow) fixing the following ....
ORA-02055: distributed update operation failed; rollback required
ORA-02067: transaction or savepoint rollback required
ora-1591 lock held in - doubt distributed transaction error
I now get and can't get round the following error:
PLS-00487: Invalid reference to variable 'REC1'
Here's the simple code
SQL Server
alter procedure jontest as
begin transaction
select test from dbo.a
commit
Note: test is a varchar(50)
PLSQL code
create or replace package rcpackage is type RCTYPE is ref cursor;end rcpackage;
declare
rc1 rcpackage.rctype;
rec1 varchar2(50);
out_arg varchar2(255);
begin
rollback;
out_arg := null;
dbo.jontest@omg(rc1);
fetch rc1 into rec1;
dbms_output.put_line(rec1.test);
close rc1;
end;
Note: as you can see, the sql server column and the rec1 are the same datatype so i've no idea why it doesn't like this. I've tried with different datatypes, integers etc with the same error. Any clue? Thanks,
Getting there, but slowly :-) -
Is it possible to use Oracle Forms 10g with Oracle 10g Lite Database?
Hi All,
We are in process of migrating our forms from 6i to 10g environment.
We have two kinds of applications, one set run on general Oracle 11g database and the other set of forms run at the client machine using Oracle lite database.
We dont have any problem with Forms 6i to connect to Lite database as it allows to connect through ODBC:DSN names. When we try to connect to a lite database (10gR3) from Forms 10g through ODBC/DSN, it's not allowing and throwing the below error.
ORA-03121 : no interface driver connected - function not performed
Can someone tell me if there is something wrong in our approach? Also advise how to use Oracle Lite database with Forms 10G.
Sincerely,
Praveen ManthenaHi,
I have experience with 6i with lite database 10g. There are two version of lite database one is multi language support and other one in english. There lang problem in connectivity with multi language 10g lite database. I done connectivity with single language connectivity of 6i with 10g lite database. You should try this one with forms 10g.

Managing a single Oracle Lite database file
Hi,
I was wondering if there's the possibility of using a single database file of Oracle Lite just like it can be done with SQL Server CE. At the moment, I'm using the SQLCE driver of .NET to manipulate my SDF file (SQLCE database for Pocket PCs) without using a SQL SERVER Merge replication; however, I was trying to change my SQLCE database to an Oracle Lite database without using the whole replication thing. I've already installed the whole Oracle Lite 10g kit but it seems it's necessary to create some DNS (that I don't fully understand :S) and that's not what I'm looking for. I hope my explanation isn't that vague and ambiguous. Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
César C.See Connection string and DSN
It appears that c:\windows\polite.ini c:\windows\odbc.ini need to be installed. odbc.ini must contain the DSN entry for your DB.
Note you can create/modify these files when you install you application that uses Oracle Lite. If you happen to have an application that dynamically creates the DB then you can reuse the one DSN entry for multiple DBs. Just provide the DB location in the connection string along with the DSN reference.

We license our software by number of workstations.
I have a query that I have used for years to get an accurate count of the workstations logged in to my SQL Server database. For simplicity, all users use the same login name/password. This is built in to the script that attaches to the DB. They
have access only to that DB with the exception of
USE [Master] GRANT VIEW SERVER STATE to MyUser
The query that has been working is below:
Basically this relies on the mac address (Master.dbo.sysprocesses.net_addre
SELECT COUNT(Users) AS UserCount FROM (SELECT COUNT(Master.dbo.sysprocesses.hostname) AS Users FROM Master.dbo.sysprocesses LEFT OUTER JOIN Master.dbo.sysdatabases ON Master.dbo.sysdatabases.dbid = Master.dbo.sysprocesses.dbid WHERE (Master.dbo.sysdatabases.name = 'MyDatabase') GROUP BY Master.dbo.sysprocesses.net_address) AS UserCount_1
ss), since both Workstation names and ip addresses can be duplicated.
Recently this has stopped working at a number of customers. Suddenly individual workstations are showing multiple net addresses for the same workstation causing a substantial overcount of users. This may be related to SQL Server 2012 - not sure.
What I need is a very reliable way to get a count of workstations logged in to my database.
If anyone can tell me why I am suddenly getting multiple net_addresses for each workstation and how to prevent that that would be one possible solution.
Otherwise if anyone can give me a rock solid way to get a workstation count other than the above that would be great. Our largest customer is 50 users by the way.
Thanks in advance for any help.
KimI think your count is getting skewed because of duplicate rows in sysprocesses because of parallelism. Add DISTINCT to your query:
SELECT COUNT(Users) AS UserCount
FROM
( SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT Master.dbo.sysprocesses.hostname) AS Users
FROM Master.dbo.sysprocesses LEFT OUTER JOIN Master.dbo.sysdatabases
ON Master.dbo.sysdatabases.dbid = Master.dbo.sysprocesses.dbid
WHERE (Master.dbo.sysdatabases.name = 'MyDatabase'
GROUP BY Master.dbo.sysprocesses.net_address) AS UserCount_1

I have software that uses SQL 2005 right now, but the database is close the max size (4 GB). I have SBS2011 installed and it includes SQL 2008 and SQL 2008R2. I want to move the database to the 2008 version that can that can handle larger databases.
I'm not an SQL expert, but have some experience with it. What I need are some directions on how to make this change without causing any problems with the system, including setting up the SQL server so it will have all the same settings as the old one.
This is a practice management software.
Thanks in advance for any help. HarveyHi,
I think you can upgrade SQL Server 2005 to later version of SQL Server rather than moving the existing database to another SQL Server instance.
Upgrade SQL Server 2005 SP2 Express to SQL Server 2008 R2 Express and SQL Server 2005 SP4 SQL Server 2012 Express. And you will have maximum 10 GB per database.
Make sure that your operation system is compatible with SQL Server
version which you want to upgrade to. For more information, see:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506(v=sql.105).aspx#SSE_x64
It is possible to backup and restore the database on another instance and modify the database path in the software.
You need to test it in your test environment first before making changes in the production environment.
In addition, you need to consult with the software developer and see if there is any potential issue.

JDBC API ( JSR 169 ) Implementation for accessing oracle lite database
We are developing an application using IBM J9 (CDC and Foundation Profile) on Pocket PC 2003 environment with SWT as the front end development. We are using Oracle Lite 9i as the Client database.
We have sucessfully installed Oracle Lite and was able to create tables in the database.. however we could not find the JDBC API (java.sql and javax.sql packages which is JSR 169 JDBC 2.0/3.0) inorder to load the JDBC driver(OLITE40.jar) and access the oracle Lite Database on Pocket PC.
IBM J9 Micro Environement does not have this support.
I am wondering if Oracle provides this implementation.
If not is there a get around.
the client database is crucial to the application and i would really appreciate an answer to our problem.Check out

I have had the same issue before.

SQL Server database (read-only mode) in Oracle SQL Developer
Hello,
I connected SQL server database with Oracle SQL Developer 3.2.10.09, everything looks good except i can only browse data, i cannot change data in tables cannot insert new or delete rows. Query is also disabled (i got message: Query Builder is not supported for this connection type.) I used Third Party JDBC Drivers - jtds-1.2.6.jar as my connection to SQL server. Is there a way to change data in tables?
Thank you.AFAIK editing table data in the grid is only possible with an Oracle database. On MS SQL you'll have to use update statements in the worksheet.
Hope that helps,

Is Oracle 8.0.4 to Personal 8i or Lite Replication Possible?
1. I'm wondering if Replication from an Oracle 8.0.4 Master
Database to Remote Oracle Personal 8i or Oracle Personal 8i Lite
databases is possible.
2. If it is, where can I get some info about this kind of
replication?

But for your information and for my information in the 8i
documentation, in the dbms_repcat.create_snapshot_repobject
there is a parameter for enabling the compatibility for 8.0 to
be applied if there is any server prior to 8.1.5. This could be
interesting for you and reject my initial idea.
hope this helps

Migrating from SQL Server to Oracle - Emulating SQL Server databases
I want to offer Oracle connectivity from an ADO.NET application that was developed for SQL Server. The application accesses multiple databases, each having the same schema but each storing different data that is confidential to the users of each database. I’ve been reading up on Oracle but have not yet found a way to group tables, views, etc. in a way that would emulate the ‘databases’ of SQL Server.
The application currently uses the SQL ‘CREATE DATABASE’ command to generate each database and then populates each with the appropriate tables. However, CREATE DATABASE appears to work differently with Oracle, creating a new instance rather than a new ‘internal database’. I’m wondering if CREATE TABLESPACE would give me the functionality I’m looking for, if it were subsequently possible to refer to a specific table within a specific tablespace.
I guess it comes down to whether it’s possible to access specific groups of tables, views, etc. within Oracle (e.g. Groups A, B and C, each having relational tables T1, T2 and T3, and be able to access and update data within any specific table, say, B-T2), while also being able to limit access to any of the Groups.
Would ODP.Net offer advantages over the System.Data.OracleClient for this architectural problem?
Any thoughts on how best to proceed would be most welcome. Thanks in advance for any ideas you might have.Sorry for the delay closing-out this thread but I work from a rural location and we lost our internet service for the two-weeks prior to the holidays. Now back on-line so let's wrap-up.
Oracle and SQLServer are now both being accessed from my ADO.Net application, so a big thanks to all who've helped me with this first use of the forum. Hopefully these final comments might help someone else in turn...
In migrating from SQLServer to Oracle I initially found it hard to stop thinking about accessing multiple databases on a single dataserver and start thinking more about a single instance of a database that supports muliple users, any one of which can be assigned the same schema. While I had used the SQL CREATE command to produce miltiple databases within SQLServer, it serves a completely different purpose for Oracle, creating an entirely new instance that I did not require.
Other differences that I ran in to included Oracle utilizing 'sequences' to autoincrement identities, whereas SQLServer lets you specify the identify while creating a table (here SQLServer may simplify declaration but Oracle's approach may be more powerful, e.g. if the same identity applies across multiple tables). Also ADO.NET command parameters use an '@' prefix in SQLServer but ':' for Oracle. But by-and-large few changes were required to my SQL to get up and running with Oracle (I found the 'Oracle Database SQL Reference' useful but no substitute for logging into Oracle and just trying each string in the 'SQL Commands' area).
Clearly I'm no database expert and I've barely scratched the surface with Oracle, but after logging in through the 'Database Home Page' I've found Oracle to offer a very 'clean' and logical interface that made it easy to move around the application and get a 'feel' for its organization and what it can do before digging furhter into the documentation. The 'Object Browser' is also a great way to quickly view and edit your various tables, views, sequences, triggers, etc., and ditto your data. In short, I think I'm going to like Oracle.
Thanks again and bye for now. -
ADF mobile Data sync and sql lite usage
Hi,
We are working on ADF mobile POC.(Jdev version 11.1.2.3.0)
Following Oracle mobile developer guide we generated "Webservice data control" which creates process(object) method to work with Webservice. We created the data-controls and used them in our Java code and are able to get the Webservice response also.
However we want to implement the offline mode feature and for this we are not able to get any document reference for implementation.
With offline mode support is it the application's responsibility to store the data locally using SQL Lite and do the data sync (using Web Service) OR will the framework would do the data sync automatically. Can someone please provide the implementation hint on how to do the Offline mode support in the mobile application using ADF.
Thanks
PavanHi,

This is all you. In this version of ADF Mobile there is no automatic data synchronization between local data and the server side. The sample that come with the ADF Mobile extension have a SQLLIte example as well, which is in the HR application. Look for the "DBConnectionFactory" file
package application;
import java.sql.Connection;
import java.sql.SQLException;
import oracle.adfmf.framework.api.AdfmfJavaUtilities;
public class DBConnectionFactory {
public DBConnectionFactory() {
super();
protected static Connection conn = null;
public static Connection getConnection() throws Exception {
if (conn == null) {
try {
// create a database connection
String Dir = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getDirectoryPathRoot(AdfmfJavaUtilities.ApplicationDirectory);
String connStr = "jdbc:sqlite:" + Dir + "/HR.db";
conn = new SQLite.JDBCDataSource(connStr).getConnection();
} catch (SQLException e) {
// if the error message is "out of memory",
// it probably means no database file is found
System.err.println(e.getMessage());
return conn;
}The LifeCycleListenerImpl class in the same demo shows how to use this SQL Lite connection
