SQL*Loader-273: READBUFFERS may be used only in direct path.

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade from OWB 10G to 11G. y map from flat file to stage maps work fine in 10G. when i upgrade the maps to 11G i get the error:
Error
RPE-01013: SQL Loader reported error condition, number 1.
SQL*Loader: Release 11.1.0.7.0 - Production on Fri May 8 15:10:20 2009

if i go to configure and make the READBUFFERS to = 0 then the map works fine. this used to work fine in 10G. I compared the .CTL file of sql loder and i notice the 10G sql loader file did not care for this property being set. while in 11G .ctl file i see the readbuffer property being set. though i can make the map run in 11G i can not go to each map and then reset it. ...Please help.
Thanks

IN 10 G environment

my question is even as both the properties in 10G and 11G are same why does .ctl file generated in 11G has statement "READBUFFERS 4" while this is neglected in owb 10G generated .ctl file? Please Help.

• Calling SQL Loader from Forms 4.5 using HOST command in Win2000

One of my forms calls SQL Loader 7.3 using HOST command to load a csv file onto the database(Oracle 7.3) under Windows 2000 platform.
Only after sql loader finishes its operation the control should come to my form i.e. synchronous execution.
As of now its running asynchronously.
Is there any way to make it synchronous. If Not any other work arounds?
Environment Details
Forms [32 Bit] Version 4.5.10.6.0 (Production)
Windows 2000 Operating System
Oracle7 Release 7.3.2.3.2

Forms6i running on W2000, Rdbms 8.1.7
in Forms I added a button TEST,
Trigger when-button-pressed : host('test.bat') ;
in directory .......\frm I added file test.bat :
REM ===============
cd /d C:\........\ldr
pause
sqlldr parfile=test.par
pause
type test.log
pause
exit
REM ================
now, pressing TEST button opens DOS window, telling me what's going on, running sqlldr, finally going back to forms
Are you using NO_PROMPT or NO_SCREEN option of HOST command ?
Had a look at Forms 4.5 manuals, there is no mentioning of (a)synchronously operation in connection with HOST command.

• Error while using expressions with direct path sql loader

We are using an expression (substr) in the control file while loading the data into a table T using sql loader using a user U.
The user U does not have permissions to the table T directly but through a role R.
While running the sql loader using direct=true option (because the data load is very huge), an error 'table or view does not exist' is thrown.
This error does not occur when conventional path is used; or when the user is given permissions on the table directly. We dont want to use both these options. Is there any other solution to this problem?
Thanks!

• Where is SQL LOADER and How i can use

where is and where i can find and run SQL LOADER. because i want to import data from ms excel.
regards.

SQL*LOADER is right there on your system if you have successfully installed any of the oracle database products.
Depending on your OS the version of the product you installed then you can invoke it from the OS command prompt. For example in windows OS and with oracle 8.0 product then issue sqllrd80 (or something like that!!). You can check what loader is actually on your system by searching for the sqlldr.*
Also refer to oracle 8 documentation for further explanation. I hope this helps.

• Using functions with direct path load

When loading data with sqlldr is it possible to have functions ( to alter the data) when loading in a direct path? Thanks

When loading data with sqlldr is it possible to have functions ( to alter the data) when loading in a direct path?Did you try it? Which version do you use?
How can I speed up the load?
Did you study chapter 11 in the utilities guide Conventional and Direct Path Loads?

• Website Not loading properly when CDN is used(only in firefox) ?!

I am designing a joomla 2.5 based website www.entrancesuccess.net which is using MAX CDN .This
Website is built in HTML5 & CSS3
When i used CDN:
The website loads horribly. All the text formatting is lost.
When CDN is off:
Everything is fine
All other browser's Opera,Chrome,IE8+ doesn't has this weird problem

I take it that CDN refers to Content Delivery Network? Can you switch networks? Your page has some errors on it, according to the validation.

Ok guys, being new to the Action scripting game, I am already finding myself with Errors. I have researched this for the last few days, and each time I come up with an answered solution, the solution is always the curly bracket. But for the life of me, I can not find a missing bracket! Could someone look at this for me and guide me in the right direction before I lose the rest of my hair. :-)

• Using SQL Loader in more than one table

Hi all,
I have a new question for those who have used SQL Loader. I
have never used it and I just know that I need a control file to
tell SQL Loader what is my flat file layout and what table the
information goes to. My problem is: my flat file has information
that goes to two tables in my schema. Those files are very big
(aprox 280Mb) and I would like to read them just once. Can I do
this with SQL Loader?
Other question, is that the fastest way to import data from
flat files becouse I am using PERL and it takes aprox. 9 hours
to import 10 of those files. I could use UTL_FILE to read it but
I heard that SQL Loader was better.
Thanks for your cooperation

SQL*Loader is the fastest way to load, particularly in direct parallel mode, and can certainly load to multiple tables.
>
My advice would be to have a look at the examples given in the Oracle Utilities guide, there is one for loading to multiple
tables, which I have pasted below.
>
-- Loads EMP records from first 23 characters
-- Creates and loads PROJ records for each PROJNO listed
-- for each employee
LOAD DATA
INFILE ’ulcase5.dat’
BADFILE ’ulcase5.bad’
DISCARDFILE ’ulcase5.dsc’
REPLACE
INTO TABLE emp
(empno POSITION(1:4) INTEGER EXTERNAL,
ename POSITION(6:15) CHAR,
deptno POSITION(17:18) CHAR,
mgr POSITION(20:23) INTEGER EXTERNAL)
INTO TABLE proj
-- PROJ has two columns, both not null: EMPNO and PROJNO
WHEN projno != ’ ’
(empno POSITION(1:4) INTEGER EXTERNAL,
projno POSITION(25:27) INTEGER EXTERNAL) -- 1st proj
INTO TABLE proj
WHEN projno != ’ ’
(empno POSITION(1:4) INTEGER EXTERNAL,
projno POSITION(29:31 INTEGER EXTERNAL) -- 2nd proj
INTO TABLE proj
WHEN projno != ’ ’
(empno POSITION(1:4) INTEGER EXTERNAL,
projno POSITION(33:35) INTEGER EXTERNAL) -- 3rd proj
see the documentation for a complete explanation of the configuration.
Thanks, I will read it.

• Want to use sequence object of oracle when loading data in sql loader

Hi,
I want to use sequence when loading data in sqll loader, but the problem is i could not use sequence object of oracle to load the data by sql loader, i can use sequence of sql loader.
I want to use sequence object because in later entries this sequence object will be used.If i use sequence of sql loader how can i use oracle sequence object
Is there any other option

I have a simillar problem, I also want to use a sequence when loading data by the SQL Loader.
My control file is:
load data
infile '0testdata.txt'
into table robertl.tbltest
fields terminated by X'09'
trailing nullcols
(redbrojunos,
broj,
dolazak,
odlazak nullif odlazak=blanks,
komentar nullif komentar=blanks)
And the datafile is:
robertl.brojilo.nextval 1368 17.06.2003 08:02:46 17.06.2003 16:17:18
robertl.brojilo.nextval 2363 17.06.2003 08:18:18 17.06.2003 16:21:52
robertl.brojilo.nextval 7821 17.06.2003 08:29:22 17.06.2003 16:21:59
robertl.brojilo.nextval 0408 17.06.2003 11:20:27 17.06.2003 18:33:00 ispit
robertl.brojilo.nextval 1111 17.06.2003 11:30:58 17.06.2003 16:09:34 Odlazak na ispit
robertl.brojilo.nextval 6129 17.06.2003 14:02:42 17.06.2003 16:23:23 seminar
But all records were rejected by the Loader, for every record I get the error:
Record 1: Rejected - Error on table ROBERTL.TBLTEST, column REDBROJUNOS.
ORA-01722: invalid number

• Using SQL Loader to insert data based on conditionally statements

I would like to use sql loader to insert records from a single text file into an Oracle database table. Sounds easy but the problem is that I need to check the existence of data in another table (Table A) before data can be loaded into Table B.
Table A has two columns: dept_no (primary key value) and dept_name (char)
Table B has five columns: emp_no (primary key value), dept_no (foreign key value to Table A), employee (char), job_title (char) and salary (number)
Text File looks like this:
Finance Jones President 10000
HR Smith Admin 2000
HelpDesk Jenkins Technician 3000
Problem:
1. I need sql loader to insert records into Table B by first checking if the first field in the file is in Table A.
2. If value exists get it's dept_no value.
3. If value doesn't exist discard record ( I might want to have sql loader insert a new record for this into Table A)
4. Using value from #2, insert the value in Table B for dept_no column.
5. Also assign a sequence value for the emp_no value in Table B.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Hello,
I am not sure this is possible with SQL loader. I would rather use an external table based on your file.
Then, I would use SQL to load your data into your table, based on your conditions.
Your request is not very complicated, writing the SQL to do that will be really more simple than trying to do it with SQL loader.
Hope it will help.
Regards,
Sylvie

• SQL-Loader and Pipes

I have to insert 300.000.000 datasets (generated dynamically by a seperate process) into an Oracle 8.1.6 database. I'd like to do this via SQL-Loader but since Linux (kernel 2.2 at least) supports only files up to 2Gigs and I don't have the necessary space on my machine to generate a large amount of ASCII files I'd like to ask whether there is a possibility to use an ordinary pipe in combination with SQL-Loader. I tried to use a named pipe but all my attempts failed.
I don't like to use Perl and the DBI module since this would be far so slow (would take about one week I guess).
Hans

External tables are accessible from SQL, which generally simplifies life if the data files are physically located on the database server since you don't have to coordinate a call to an external SQL*Loader script with other PL/SQL processing. Under the covers, external tables are normally just invoking SQL*Loader.
SQL*Loader is more appropriate if the data files are on a different server or if it is easier to call an executable rather than calling PL/SQL (i.e. if you have a batch file that runs on a server other than the database server that wants to FTP a data file from a FTP server and then load the data into Oracle).

• SQL*Loader job exits unexpectedly and causes table to be locked with NOWAIT

I have a weekly report job that I run where I have to load about 48 logs with about 750k rows of data in each log. To facilitate this, we have been using a Java job that runs SQL*Loader as an external Process (using ProcessBuilder), one after the other. Recently however, this process has been terminating abnormally during the load which is causing a lock on the table and basically causes the process to grind to a halt until we can open a ticket with the DB team to kill the session that is hung. Is there maybe a better way to handle this upload process than using SQL*Loader or is there some change I could make in either the control file or command line to stop it from dying a horrible death?
At the start of the process, I truncate the table that I'm loading to and then run this command line with the following control file:
COMMAND LINE:
C:\Oracle\ora92\BIN\SQLLDR.EXE userid=ID/PASS@DB_ID load=10000000 rows=100000 DIRECT=TRUE SKIP_INDEX_MAINTENANCE=TRUE control=ControlFile.ctl data=logfile.log
CONTROL FILE:
UNRECOVERABLE
Load DATA
INFILE *
Append
PRESERVE BLANKS
INTO TABLE MY_REPORT_TABLE
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ","
filler_field1 FILLER char(16),
filler_field2 FILLER char(16),
time TIMESTAMP 'MMDDYYYY-HH24MISSFF3' ENCLOSED BY '"',
partne ENCLOSED BY '"',
trans ENCLOSED BY '"',
vendor ENCLOSED BY '"' "SUBSTR(:vendor, 1, 1)",
filler_field4 FILLER ENCLOSED BY '"',
cache_hit_count,
cache_get_count,
wiz_trans_count,
wiz_req_size,
wiz_res_size,
wiz_trans_time,
dc_trans_time,
hostname ENCLOSED BY '"',
trans_list CHAR(2048) ENCLOSED BY '"' "SUBSTR(:trans_list, 1, 256)",
timeouts,
success ENCLOSED BY '"'
Once all of the logs have finished loading, I rebuild the indexes on the table and then start the report process. It seems like it's just dying on random logs now, re-running the process it will fail at a different point each time.
EDIT: The reasons for the UNRECOVERABLE and SKIP_INDEX_MAINTENANCE are to speed the load up. As it is, it still can take 7-12 minutes for each log to load, it's even worse without those on. Overall it's taking about 18 hours for this process to run from start to finish.

Please note that my post stated: "I have opened a ticket with Oracle support. after 6 days have not had the help that I need."
I also agree that applying the latest PSU is a Best Practice, which Oracle defines as "a cumulative collection of high impact, low risk, and proven fixes for a specific product or component".
With that statement I feel there should not be the drastic issues that we have seen. Our policy is to always apply PSUs, no matter what the product or component, without issue.
Except for now. We did our research, and only open an Oracle ticket when we need expert help. That has not been forthcoming from them, but we are still working the ticket.
Hence, I opened this forum because many times I have found help here, where others have faced the same issue and now have an insight. When having a serious problem I like to use all of my resources, this forum being one of those.
To restate the question:
(1) 97% of our databases reside on RAC. From the Search List for Databases, we do not see the columns Sessions:CPU, Sessions: I/O, Sessions: Other, Instance CPU%, and are told this is working as designed because you must monitor the instance, not the database, with RAC.
(a) After applying PSU2 the Oracle Load Map no longer showed any databases.
All of this in (1) is making the tool less useful for monitoring at the database level, which we do most of the time.
(2) Within a few days of applying PSU2, we couldn't log into EM and got the error "Authentication failed. If problem persists, contact your system administrator."
(b) searching through the emoms.trc files we found the errors listed above posting frantically.
After rolling back PSU we are back in business.
However, there is still the need to remain current with the components of EM.
I am looking for suggestion, insights, experience. While I appreciate Akanksha answering so quickly, a recommendation to open an SR is not what I need.

• Automate SQL*LOADER

Hi,
I am working on a Decision Support System project.
I need to load flat files into Oracle tables through SQL * Loader. And the entire process should be invoked through JAVA front end.
How do I go about?
I will deeply appreciate any help.
Raghu.

Hi,
In our prev. project, We have customized-(automated) SQL*LOADER. There, we were using UNIX O/S. So We have used shell scripts for creating the control file (a script can create control file automatically). And it will call the sql loader and load the data into tables.
Here u can use same logic.
If ur flat file contents are in same format, u can use the static control files (means, at installation time u can create control files) and whenever u want this, u can call. Dont go for dynamic control files.
1. If u is using Java as front end, u can use native methods and call sql loader (exe). Problem is, U can not invoke, and such thing from client m/c. U can do it only from server side.
2. This way also u can try. By using external procedure method, u can call shared library and shared library can invoke sql loader (write a small C shared library program for invoking SQL*LOADER). Here, u can invoke SQL*LOADER from client m/c also.
3. One more ways is there. By using listener tech. u can invoke it. Create listener program and run on server side as back ground process. Whenever, there is request, it will sql loader.
