SQL Loader- Default value is not inserted in table by direct method

Hi All,
I am trying to load data from a file to a table by SQL Loader. There is a particular date column which I am not loading from the File but have used a Default constraint to put SYSDATE in it. When I am using direct method load then it is not inserting nothin in this column but in conventional method it is inserting SYSDATE. But I want to do the load by direct method. Can anybody provide me a solution as how to load default value in direct method?
Thanks & regards.
Sudipta

For this special case, you can specify:
column_name SYSDATE
in your SQL*Loader control file.

  • Putting default values in an insert statement

    I am using Oracle 11g.
    I have a table called bonus -
    create table bonus (
    rid int ,
    cid int,
    bonus int,
    vdate date,
    amount int
    Earler, the bonus table did not have the vdate and amount columns, so I was able to use insertion syntax as follows -
    insert into bonus (cid,rid,bonus) <--- note this
    select cid, rid, count(*)
    from checkin
    group by cid,rid having
    count(*) > 2;
    However, since I now have two additional fields, I do not know how to do it. I tried something like
    insert into bonus (cid,rid,bonus, sysdate, 20) <--- note the change
    select cid, rid, count(*)
    from checkin
    group by cid,rid having
    count(*) > 2;
    but it failed. So you see that I would like to enter sysdate and 20 as default values into the vdate and amount fields. I am just not able to figure out a way to do it. Please help.
    Thank you.

    You can insert default values like this,
    INSERT INTO bonus (cid
                      ,rid
                      ,bonus
                      ,vdate
                      ,amount)
         SELECT cid, rid, COUNT (*), SYSDATE, 20
           FROM checkin
       GROUP BY cid, rid
         HAVING COUNT (*) > 2;g.

  • Enterprise Project Fields Default values do not Register on PDP Pages for mandatory fields

    Is it normal for "mandatory" eneterprise project field to come up as blank in a PDP page, when I have defined it to default value to a specific value in a list?
    I've inserted such fields using the project field web part within the PWA Category.  They display with the red astericks at the end of their name, but the field is blank.  The default value does not appear in the field.  However, if I select
    the button next to their name and display the the list, the default value is shown in bold as if it is the one selected.  I
    I am not using any workflows in the EPT that is responsible for displaying such pages.  Aslo, this is not a problem when the fields are not set to mandatory; they display the default value.
    the problem with this is that you have to manually select the default (or some value form the list) in order to check in the project.
    Would you agree that this is a bug in 2010?

    Hi anandkumar,
    I belive this issue can be resolved by changing the  Query proprties for the perticular field.
    Kindly check the Field proerties in query designer and ensure that Text is enabled ather than Key.
    __Field property check up:__Go to query designer->click onn the field-> Right hand side in properties click on display tab-> select Text in drop down menu of Display as tab.
    FURTHER CHECK UP: check the master data avaiulability for the perticular info object, if masterdata is not available, do the text data for txt data availability in report level.
    Hope this helps you!!

    At least twice the size does not mean exactly the doubled size.
    There is no contradiction between the documentation and your observation in this case.

  • Created a trigger but new values are not inserting in the backup table

    I have created a backup table and writter a trigger on a table such that after update old values and new values are to be inserted into the backup table, but new values are not inserting. I am giving the code please help me
    create or replace trigger "SUPPQUOTES_AUDIT"

    old values and new

    insert into
    phquotes_audit(cprc_new,suppcode,itemcode,cprc_old,negodt,validdt,userid,TRANDATE) values (:old.cprc,:old.suppcode,:old.itemcode,:old.cprc,:old.negodt,:old.validdt,:old.userid,SYSDATE);

  • BEx Variable default value does not pass thru to Webi report

    Hi,
    It appears that the integration between BEx and BOBJ Webi does not support default values when the webi report is scheduled.  This means that if Webi/Infoview is the delivery method, than clients require 2 reports.  1 for adhoc and 1 for scheduling.  Is there another way around this so 2 reports are not required?  See SAP Knowledge Base Article  https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/sno/ui_entry/entry.htm?param=69765F6D6F64653D3030312669765F7361706E6F7465735F6E756D6265723D3030303136363534393826

    Hi,
    Yes it is not supported. you can achieve by writing customer exit for this.
    in istep 2,
    check whether the variable value is intial.
    if intial
    pass default value
    if not intial (else)
    dont do any change, just pass the user input to restriction.

    Panneer,
    Does the regular process load from a flat file into a table? This would be implemented as SQL loader mapping... in which case a PL/SQL call cannot be implemented.
    What you could do:
    - Use an external table to read from the flat file.
    - Use the transformation in a process flow. I.e. you first execute the SQL loader mapping and then execute the transformation.
    Mark.

  • What is the best way to implement default values stored in a DB table?

    [JHeadstart 10.1.3 build 78]
    [JDeveloper 10.1.3 SU4]
    We are struggling on how to best implement default values that are stored in a DB table. What we have is a database table with (CODE_TYPE, TABLE_NAME, COLUMN_NAME, DEFAULT_VALUE) as columns. This way the application administrator can administer default values himself/herself. Now we need to find the best way to set these table supplied default values in new rows. Globally we are aware of two ways:
    - override create() method on VO
    - probably create a View Object on top of the database table with default values (we are capable of transposing the table and return exactly one row with a column for each default value) and use JHeadstarts item property 'Default Value'.
    We prefer the latter, since this is more declarative, however we struggle with the EL expression needed to indicate the default value.
    If we have a VO named "DefaultValues" with a SELECT on a view on top of our database table (transposed) returning exactly one row, let us say:
    SELECT orglanguage, orgtype, orgstatus [...]
    FROM v_default_values
    --> returning exactly one row
    and we want an EL expression on an item that needs the value from orglanguage. What will the EL expression be? Something like:
    #{data.DefaultValuesPageDef.currentrow.orglanguage.inputValue}? We tried several things but they do not work. A static default value works, but every EL expression so far does not. We know that using "data" can be dangerous, but thought JHeadstart takes care of preparing the other Page Definitions, so it might be possible when you use JHeadstart.
    Or is overriding the create() method the preferred way? Or do we have to look at a Managed Bean for our default values that we refer to from EL (let us say MyAppDefaultValuesBean) and in that case: how do you associate a Managed Bean with a VO?
    Any help would be appreciated. Apart from these default values, things are going rather well in this first J2EE/JHS project for us!
    Toine

    Steven,
    Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately whatever we try, we cannot get it to work. We started looking at the second option (since we do need default values also in table lay-out new rows). We created a DefaultValues ViewObject, added it to the Application Module, added an EL expressiona to the Default Display Value property (replacing your ending ")" with a "}" offcourse ;-)), ran the JAG so that a page definition was generated for DefaultValues and we managed to get it prepared when loading for example the Organisation's jspx page. However no default value appears in a new row (not in Form, not in Table layout).
    I then created a quick application on top of the HR schema, added a DefaultValues ViewObject using one calculated attribute (set Salary fixed to 1000), added the EL expression to the Salary Default Display Value property in the Employees Group, made sure the DefaultValuesPageDef is prepared by adding it to the parameter section and I see it getting prepared. I also see a managed Bean is created in the Employees-bean.xml.
    In the Embedded OC4J log we see:
    16:01:01 DEBUG (JhsPageLifecycle) -executing onCreate
    16:01:01 DEBUG (JhsPageLifecycle) -CreateEmployeesDefaultValues bean found, applying default values to new row
    2006-08-02 16:01:01.825 WARNING [ADFc] Warning: No Method onCreateEmployees and no actionBinding CreateEmployees found.
    Is it this warning we should be worried about? Since no default value is created.

    We do not understand what is wrong and why the default values do not get created in the new rows (and it is taking us far too much time). Any chance the EL expression is still wrong? It is a shame that any syntax errors in EL expressions are not visible in some logfile. It looks like when EL expressions are wrong, they are ignored instead of raising an error...

    see that in the table control u can get the table field for all the rows even though you are processing on some fields .
    so what u do is make that particular filed masked(no i/p field and populate the field that will be better instead of populating all the columns okay.
    hope this helps you out ,

  • SQL Loader needs to load default value instead of null

    I am loading data from the flat file into the table. The table primary key consists of 5 fields. One of these fields might be empty in the text file, so on the load I need to substitute it with some default value like "***", for instance. Is there any way to make some conditions in the control file?

    You can either make use of the suggession given by Warren Tollentino or alter table by adding default constraint for the column.

  • Msql and o8i - using a default value in an insert

    1. In an Oracle 8i Enterprise DB I have a primary key in table FOO called FOO_ID, it's SQL description is:
    FOO_ID NUMBER DEFAULT TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'HH24MMSSMMDDYY') NOT NULL
    1.5 I test via TOAD inserting a record into the DB without specifying FOO_ID, but specifying other values in the table row. I commit the data. When I commit the table correctly fills in FOO_ID with a time/date stamp per the above definition.
    2. I run wtgpack and create an application which uses this table. I check the SQL code to make sure the column definition is copied to the snapshot which will be the basis for Oracle 9i Lite mobile DB on my laptop.
    3. I run msync.exe and get the DB.
    4. I run msql to make sure the data replicated ok. It did.
    5. I run an INSERT statement not specifying a primary key hoping that the default will be used. For example,
    "INSERT INTO FOO (FOO_TYPE) VALUES ('Test Type')";
    I get the following error from msql:
    [POL-3221] null key in primary index
    The questions is, why isn't the O9iLite DB using the default value when creating the new record/row?
    Thanks,
    Z

    Danny is spot on, but a little elaboration for the beginner:
    childValue == "yes" asks whether these two are the exact same String object. There are times when that's true, but it's unlikely. Instead, use String equals() ( childValue.equals("yes") ) to ask whether the two have the same value.
    With the simple class Danny suggests:
    class Vessel {
       private boolean assessed;
       private int stenosis;
       public boolean isAssessed() { return assessed; }
    }All you need in the loop is
    Iterator vessels = vesselAssessed.values().iterator();
    while (vessels.hasNext()) {
       Vessel vessel = (Vessel) vessels.next();
       if (vessel.isAssessed()) {
    }

  • Report parameter default value do not default correctly

    Hello Experts, I have a cascading parameters in my report.
    The first parameter called "Project" will allow to select a single Project Name from the list and based on the Project Name, the second parameters which is a "Date" parameter will give out list Months and Year in the Format 'Nov-14'.
    For this Second parameter I defaulted the parameter to show First Month in the retrieved list of Months. But the problem is it will display the default Date correctly only certain times (there is a refresh problem). If i select a different project and it
    has a month that was retrieved in the first project it will still show the that Month but not the actual default month (Start Month) for that particular Project.
    Example: If I select Brisk from Project parameter, It will give me 18 months of Dates in the Date parameter. In that 18 month range first month is Sep-13 it will default to Sep-13 correctly. Then if I select a different project like "Creek" (example)
    as Project , the Date parameter retrieves some dates corresponding to Creek Project and in the retrieved months if  Date parameter has Sep-13 it will still show Sep-13 even though the
    Start Date for Creek project is Jun-12.
    1. Project Brisk: Defaulted correctly to Sep-13
    2. Creek Project : Should default to Jul-12 but still shows Sep-13
    Just for default value I created a separate dataset and used it to populate the default value and the SQL I used just for default value is as below:
    SELECT DISTINCT TRUNC(DATE_KY, 'MM') AS DEFUALT_DATE
    FROM            DATE_D D
    WHERE        (DATE_KY = ADD_MONTHS(:PROJECT_DT, - 6))
    Date parameter datatype is Date/Time,
    Available Values Tab: label field is a String but the Value field and the default field (Default Values tab) are Dates
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks Vicky for reply.
    Yes you are right but I did not use First function as the query above retrieves only one date.
    I used your suggestion but it did not fix it.
    In this report I have three parameters.
    1. Project Code (Visible)
    SELECT DISTINCT PROJECT_CODE
    FROM      DIM.PROJECT
    ORDER BY PROJECT_CODE
    2. Project Date (Invisible)
    SELECT
    MAX(CASENA.MILESTONE
    WHEN'ABCD'THENTRUNC(PROJECT_DATE,'MM')ELSENULLEND)PROJECT_DATE
    FROM
    DIM.PROJECTNA
    WHERE(NA.PROJECT_CODE
    =:PROJECT_CODE
    or'ALL'=:PROJECT_CODE)
    3. Start Date (Visible):
    Available Values Query:
    SELECT DISTINCT
    --DER_DATE is "Value Field"
    TRUNC(D.DATE_KY, 'MM') DER_DATE
    --Display_date is "Label Field"
    , TO_CHAR(D.DATE_KY, 'Mon-YY')   Display_Date
    FROM DATE_D D
    WHERE DATE_KY BETWEEN ADD_MONTHS(:PROJECT_DATE, -6)  AND ADD_MONTHS(:PROJECT_DATE, 6)
    ORDER BY 1
    Default Values Query:
    SELECT DISTINCT TRUNC(DATE_KY, 'MM') AS DEFUALT_DATE
    FROM            DATE_D D
    WHERE        (DATE_KY = ADD_MONTHS(:PROJECT_DATE, - 6))
    When you select a Project from "Project Code", it will give a "Project Date" and based on the "Project Date" it will give a date range in "Start Date". That is why I am using "Project Date" parameter in my
    query. I even tried using Project code as you suggested but I still got the same result.
    Thanks a lot for your reply.
