Sql*plus user name & pass word?
When I try to use Sql*plus 8.0 on win98,the logon window ask for user name: and password:
and host string:
what shoud I do?
Thanks
The answer is self-evident: enter what you are asked to!
How to get those?
First you must have your tnsnames.ora well set. You may do that using the facilities that oracle provides (sqlnet easy config for sqlnet 2.0). For details, ask your DBA.
Wish you luck.

Download Oracle SQL*Plus help related like word help
Hello all
I just wanna ask if where i can download Oracle SQL*Plus help related like word help.?
ty<p>You can access SQL*Plus help from the command line in a SQL*Plus session by typing 'help index'. If you want more information than that, take a look at the SQL*Plus Quick Reference located <b>here</b> or the SQL*Plus User's Guide and Reference located <b>here</b>. These docs are all for Oracle 10g. Other version documentation can be found <b>here</b>.</p>

[urgent]sql plus 's user login
how do i know my sql plus login name and password? when i install...they never ask me to set my own login name and password...
Hi 489652,
Which version of oracle you are using?
Oracle 8i & below sys password is change_on_install & system password is manager
You can even login as internal with a password oracle.
if 9i & above you need to provide oracle password for sys & system and no internal login.
What ever version you use this should work as generic
01. Login as oracle user in unix box in windows as admin.
02. export ORACLE_SID=dbname in unix . set ORACLE_SID=dbname in windows
03. sqlplus "/ as sysdba" you should be loggin as sys ..(as oracle admin)
Moreover, please remember when you raise this kind of question try to include the version of oracle and OS.
Cheers,

Sql plus password typing problem
Hello there

Use SQL*Plus to execute SQL, PL/SQL and SQL*Plus statements.
Usage 1: sqlplus -H | -V
-H Displays the SQL*Plus version and the
usage help.
-V Displays the SQL*Plus version.
Usage 2: sqlplus [ [<option>] [{logon | /nolog}] [<start>] ]
<option> is: [-C <version>] [-L] [-M "<options>"] [-R <level>] [-S]
-C <version> Sets the compatibility of affected commands to the
version specified by <version>. The version has
the form "x.y[.z]". For example, -C 10.2.0
-L Attempts to log on just once, instead of
reprompting on error.
-M "<options>" Sets automatic HTML markup of output. The options
have the form:
HTML ON [HEAD text] [BODY text] [TABLE text]
[ENTMAP {ON|OFF}] [SPOOL {ON|OFF}] [PRE[FORMAT] ON]
-R <level> Sets restricted mode to disable SQL*Plus commands
that interact with the file system. The level can
be 1, 2 or 3. The most restrictive is -R 3 which
disables all user commands interacting with the
file system.
-S Sets silent mode which suppresses the display of
the SQL*Plus banner, prompts, and echoing of
commands.
<logon> is: {<username>[<password>][@<connect_identifier>] | / }
[AS {SYSDBA | SYSOPER | SYSASM}] [EDITION=value]
Specifies the database account username, password and connect
identifier for the database connection. Without a connect
identifier, SQL*Plus connects to the default database.
The AS SYSDBA, AS SYSOPER and AS SYSASM options are database
administration privileges.
<connect_identifier> can be in the form of Net Service Name
or Easy Connect.
@[<net_service_name> | [/]Host[:Port]/<service_name>]
<net_service_name> is a simple name for a service that resolves
to a connect descriptor.
Example: Connect to database using Net Service Name and the
database net service name is ORCL.
sqlplus myusername/mypassword@ORCL
Host specifies the host name or IP address of the database
server computer.
Port specifies the listening port on the database server.
<service_name> specifies the service name of the database you
want to access.
Example: Connect to database using Easy Connect and the
Service name is ORCL.
sqlplus myusername/mypassword@Host/ORCL
The /NOLOG option starts SQL*Plus without connecting to a
database.
The EDITION specifies the value for Session Edition.
<start> is: @<URL>|<filename>[.<ext>] [<parameter> ...]
Runs the specified SQL*Plus script from a web server (URL) or the
local file system (filename.ext) with specified parameters that
will be assigned to substitution variables in the script.
When SQL*Plus starts, and after CONNECT commands, the site profile
(e.g. $ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/admin/glogin.sql) and the user profile
(e.g. login.sql in the working directory) are run. The files may
contain SQL*Plus commands.
Refer to the SQL*Plus User's Guide and Reference for more information.

Hello,
Into the documentation SQL*Plus® User's Guide and Reference Release 10.2 - SQL*Plus Limits, the limit defined by substitution variable value length is set to 240.
However, it seems that's more 239, here a little test :
SQL> @e:\scripts\sql\lg.sql 123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012
3456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012
34567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890
string beginning "1234567890..." is too long. maximum size is 239 characters. To be more clear, that should be write 240 (non-inclusive) or 239.
Nicolas. Thanks Nicolas. I'll pass this along to the SQL*Plus writer for correction.

I pick a blank window and type http://192.168.15.1 press enter
This take me yo a log in window to change my motorola router.
A screen appears to enter a user and pass word.
There are both supposed to be "router"
Defaults want to enter ROUter as user name and pass word and I cAN NOT OVER RIDE THEM. HELPYes, but the method is to simply connect the TC to the computer by ethernet and use it on a separate network. That is the best way to do it.. but you can also do the same thing better and easier with an external hard disk plugged in. For a desktop computer this is a better solution in a way. You will only be using the TC for Time Machine backups anyway.
If you want to continue to use the TC.. then the actual network settings I put in this thread with a whole series of pictures.

If you cannot follow any of that just ask. -

Logging into ORACLE 9I using SQL*PLUS.TNS Error
I have installed Oracle 9i for windows and am trying to login using SQL*PLUS
user: system
pwd: manager
Host String: BHURU
It says TNS could resolve service name.
I have all the services running in the admin monitor.
Am I missing something? Please advise. Can you post your tnsnames.ora file contents and listener.ora contents here?
There may be tons of things wrong with the error actually,
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Cause: A connection to a database or other service was requested using a connect identifier, and the connect identifier specified could not be resolved into a connect descriptor using one of the naming methods configured. For example, if the type of connect identifier used was a net service name then the net service name could not be found in a naming method repository, or the repository could not be located or reached.
Action:
- If you are using local naming (TNSNAMES.ORA file):
- Make sure that "TNSNAMES" is listed as one of the values of the NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH parameter in the Oracle Net profile (SQLNET.ORA)
- Verify that a TNSNAMES.ORA file exists and is in the proper directory and is accessible.
- Check that the net service name used as the connect identifier exists in the TNSNAMES.ORA file.
- Make sure there are no syntax errors anywhere in the TNSNAMES.ORA file. Look for unmatched parentheses or stray characters. Errors in a TNSNAMES.ORA file may make it unusable.
- If you are using directory naming:
- Verify that "LDAP" is listed as one of the values of the NAMES.DIRETORY_PATH parameter in the Oracle Net profile (SQLNET.ORA).
- Verify that the LDAP directory server is up and that it is accessible.
- Verify that the net service name or database name used as the connect identifier is configured in the directory.
- Verify that the default context being used is correct by specifying a fully qualified net service name or a full LDAP DN as the connect identifier
- If you are using easy connect naming:
- Verify that "EZCONNECT" is listed as one of the values of the NAMES.DIRETORY_PATH parameter in the Oracle Net profile (SQLNET.ORA).
- Make sure the host, port and service name specified are correct.
- Try enclosing the connect identifier in quote marks. See the Oracle Net Services Administrators Guide or the Oracle operating system specific guide for more information on naming.
