SQL query problem:  how tp select all duplication in the table?

Hi all,
I have a table with the following columns:
1. contact_id
2. fname
3. lname
4. email
The email column must be unique (unfortunately it's not); therefore, I have to delete all duplication in the system.
Question: how can I select all duplication in the table?
I tried this...didn't work (I'm expecting only the emails that are duplicated)
THANK YOU!
SELECT distinct TC1.email, TC1.contact_ID FROM ta_contacts AS TC1 where TC1.email <>'' AND TC1.email not in (   SELECT distinct TC2.email   FROM ta_contacts AS TC2   where TC2.email <>'' )

Sounds like an SQL and not a JDBC question. In any case, if a column needs to be unique, then you should, of course, designate a unique constraint on the table so you never end up with duplicates in the first place.

  • How to SELECT ALL records of a TABLE VIEW in the BSP page

    Hi All,
In the BSP portal, I am displaying some data(multple records) in the form of a table using the BSP TAG <htmlb:tableView>. I wrote the logic in the 'VIEW' of the BSP application which will be triggered by the controller. I have used the attribute selectionMode = "MULTISELECT" to have a Check Box to select a row.
My requirement is to have a button/checkbox on the first column of the header of the table view. By clicking on this, it should select/desect all the records of the table. Could someone please help me how to do this? What attribute I should use in the tableview to get the button in the header row of the table and how to select all the records of the table.?
    Please provide your valuable inputs.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Paddu.

  • How to select all emails from the same sender

    Hi
I have been pulling my hair out with this one, what i want to do is select all emails from 1 specific sender and delete them, because my inbox is completely chocka, is this possible in mail.
    Cheers
    Karl

There are multiple ways to achieve this. First, you could click the From header in the mailbox in question to sort by sender, then just click the first message from the desired sender and shift-click the last message. Second, you could do a search using the search bar, limiting it to the mailbox in question and searching only the From field using the buttons that appear when you start typing a query.

  • How to select data missing in the table?

    <p>
<strong>I have a list of strings as follows (not in the table):
    'aaaaa'
    'bbbbb'
    'ccccc'
In the table T1 I have a VARCHAR column x. The data under x are as follows
    'aaaaa'
    'ccccc'
I want to formulate a query such that it will bring 'bbbbb' since 'bbbbb' is not in the table. Please help!
    Thanks.
    </strong>
    </p>

We get asked this question on a reasonably regular basis.. Apparently people think it's perfectly normal and acceptable to ask a data repository for all the data it doesnt contain. We normally have a conversation that runs:
Tech "So, you want to see all data in the database, that is not in the database?"
    User "Yes"
Tech "How do you propose that a database gives you all the information it doesnt have"
User "Oh. Now you put it that way.."
Actually I wish someone would hurry up and invent a data repository that does this, that way if I suddenly took a liking to The Beatles, but didnt have any of their songs in my collection, I could ask the data repository for all the Beatles songs I didnt have and.. bam! I'd have all the Beatles songs! cool
Seriously.. youre asking us to tell you how to make an oracle db tell you what information it doesnt have, but youre refusing to supply a block of data for it to compare against (i.e. so it can know what "Everything" is, in the phrase "Everything it doesn't have".
Do you really see it as possible?

  • How do you select all paragraphs using the same style in Pages 5.2?

I'm trying to find how to select all paragraphs using the same style in Pages 5.2 without any success.  I writing a book and I need to able to adjust all my paragraph styles globally.  I see how upgrade my paragraph style when I do something new, but not how to revert back to the orginal template.
For example, in my custom template for my book I have 12 font for a review questions paragraph style.  I changed the font size for all this paragraph style to 18 font.  Now I want to change it back to size 12 font.  But I have this paragraph style at the top and bottom of my document.  How to I select all of my review questions style so I can make the font change to all at the same time?
I just upgrade to Pages 5.2 from Pages '09.

  • Incomplete Data on report (report does not show all records from the table)

    Hello,
I have problem with CR XI, I'm running the same report on the same data with simple select all records from the table (no sorting, no grouping, no filters)
Sometimes report shows me all records sometimes not. Mostly not all records on the report. When report incomplete sometimes it shows different number of records.
I'm using CR XI runtime on Windows Server 2003
    Any help appreciated
    Thanks!

Sorry Alexander. I missed the last line where you clearly say it is runtime.
    A few more questions:
    - Which CR SDK are you using? The Report Designer Component or the CR assemblies for .NET?
    - What is the exact version of CR you are using (from help | about)
    - What CR Service Pack are you on?
    And a troubleshooting suggestion:
Since this works on some machines, it will be a good idea to compare all the runtime (both CR and non CR) being loaded on a working and non working machines.

This query will never work. I marked only couple of errors you have there. Actually,
I meant "formating" errors rather than "syntactical" errors. You are missing spaces
all over the place. This is why I suggested to use a CLOB column in a test table
to return the query for debugging purposes - this is how I do it at least, when I need
to escape and concatenate a lot of code.
If you are referencing item values from a user session in a function or a procedure,
then you need to use the v('ITEM') syntax instead of :ITEM syntax. However, if the
output of this procedure will be used as a function returning SQL query, you will
    be fine with :ITEM.

    sales_m08 NUMBER,
    sales_m09 NUMBER,
    sales_m10 NUMBER,
    sales_m11 NUMBER,
    sales_m12 NUMBER,
    sales_prior_yr NUMBER );
The columns 'sales_m01 ..... sales_m12' represents aggregated monthly sales, in which 'sales_m01' translates to 'sales for the month of january, january being the first month, 'sales_m02' sales for the month of february, and so on.
The problem I face is that we have a project which requires that a parameter be passed to a stored procedure which stands for the month number which is then used to build a SQL query with the following required field aggregations, which depends on the parameter passed :
    Sample 1 : parameter input: 4
Dynamically-built SQL query should be :
    SELECT
    SUM(sales_m04) as CURRENT_SALES,
    SUM(sales_m01+sales_m02+sales_m03+sales_m04) SALES_YTD
    FROM
    sales_data
    WHERE
    sales_id = '0599768';
    Sample 2 : parameter input: 8
Dynamically-built SQL query should be :
    SELECT
    SUM(sales_m08) as CURRENT_SALES,
    SUM(sales_m01+sales_m02+sales_m03+sales_m04+
    sales_m05+sales_m06+sales_m07+sales_m08) SALES_YTD
    FROM
    sales_data
    WHERE
    sales_id = '0599768';
So in a sense, the contents of SUM(sales_m01 ....n) would vary depending on the parameter passed, which should be a number between 1 .. 12 which corresponds to a month, which in turn corresponds to an actual field range on the table itself. The resulting dynamic query should only aggregate those columns/fields in the table which falls within the range given by the input parameter and disregards all the remaining columns/fields.
    Any solution is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Hi another simpler approach is using decode
    try like this
    SQL> CREATE TABLE sales_data (
      2  sales_id NUMBER,
      3  sales_m01 NUMBER,
      4  sales_m02 NUMBER,
      5  sales_m03 NUMBER,
      6  sales_m04 NUMBER,
      7  sales_m05 NUMBER,
      8  sales_m06 NUMBER,
      9  sales_m07 NUMBER,
    10  sales_m08 NUMBER,
    11  sales_m09 NUMBER,
    12  sales_m10 NUMBER,
    13  sales_m11 NUMBER,
    14  sales_m12 NUMBER,

  • How to select all the people that are not in any equipe  ?

    Hi,
I have a nice SQL expression that gives me as a result all the "AGENTS" (people) that are working in an EQUIPE (a team)
    select a."AGENT_ID",
    a."NOM" || ' ' || a."PRENOM" "Nom",
    c.libelle "Equipe",
    a."DATE_EMBAUCHE" "Date embauche",
    a."DATE_DEBAUCHE" "Date débauche"
    from OBSERVATOIRE."AGENT" a,
    observatoire.equipe_agents b,
    observatoire.equipe c
    where a.agent_id = b.agent_id
    and b.equipe_id = c.equipe_id
    order by nom
Now, how to select all the agents that are NOT working in any "EQUIPE" (team) ?
I have tried but could not succeed !
Thank you for your kind help.
    Christian

    Christian from France wrote:
It is not working because the table EQUIPE_AGENTS does not contains a row if the agent is not into any equipe.
    CREATE TABLE "OBSERVATOIRE"."EQUIPE_AGENTS"
(     "EQUIPE_AGENTS_ID" NUMBER NOT NULL ENABLE,
         "EQUIPE_ID" NUMBER NOT NULL ENABLE,
         "AGENT_ID" NUMBER NOT NULL ENABLE)
    CREATE TABLE "OBSERVATOIRE"."AGENT"
(     "AGENT_ID" NUMBER NOT NULL ENABLE,
         "GRADES_ID" NUMBER NOT NULL ENABLE,
"NOM" VARCHAR2(50 BYTE) NOT NULL ENABLE,
         "PRENOM" VARCHAR2(50 BYTE),
         "DATE_EMBAUCHE" DATE NOT NULL ENABLE,
         "DATE_DEBAUCHE" DATE)
The only way to "know" if an agent is not into any equipe (team) is to search into the EQUIPE_AGENTS table, and if we do not find the ID of the agent into this table, then we know that this agent is not into any EQUIPE (team).
I don't know ho to translate this into SQL.And that's what my query does. It uses an OUTER JOIN so that a result record is returned whether or not there is a record in EQUIPE_AGENTS. And the check for EQUIPE_ID is NULL restricts the result set to those where there IS NOT a record in EQUIPE_AGENTS.
A more traditional way would be to use NOT IN or NOT EXISTS clauses, but they can prove inefficient.

  • How to select all the colomns_names from a table, with their datatypes ..

    hi :)
i would like to know, how to select in SQL all the columns names from a table with their datatypes so that i get something like this :
    Table 1 : table_name
the column ID has the Datatype NUMBER
the column name has the Datatype Varchar2
    Table 2 : table_name
the column check has the Datatype NUMBER
the column air has the Datatype Varchar2
and that has to be for all the tables that i own ! ..
    P. S : i m trying to do this with java, so it s would be enough if you just tell me how to select all the tables_names with all their colums_names and with all their datatypes ! ..
    thank you :)
i ve heard it can be done with USER_TABLES .. but i have no idea how :( ..

    Hi,
The data dictionary view USER_TAB_COLUMNS has one row for every column in every table in your schema. The columns TABLE_NAME, COLUMN_NAME and DATA_TYPE have all the information you need.
Another data dictionary view, USER_TABLES, may be useful, too. It has one row pre table.

    1) Do you want "user dir" (watever that is) or do you wnat the last accessed directory? Last accessed by what/whom?
    2) Applets can't access the local file sytem, and for good reason, unless they're signed and the client has given permission.
