SQL Server in getting hung

HI All,
we are facing SQL Server hung situation frequently as per the error log we received below mention error:

we faced this situation many time and over cluster failed over. please suggest what we do in this situation.

Hi Pawan,
Your SQL Server hung because of deadlock scheduler condition.Generally this is due to bug in SQL Server and is fixed in Latest Service pack.It can also occur due to bad or rouge queries.Your first step should be to apply latest SP and see if it subsides.
If still it happens you can open case with Microsoft for dump analysis.

What should I use BCS or directly connect to sql server to get data.

Hi All,
I have a requierment where the data is in the sql server.
We are using sharepoint webpart to show the data from the sql.
Should i get the data from the sql server using connection string.
Is there any better way to get data from Sql server table and show that in the custom asp.net form.

As I see the questions is in SharePoint 2013 forum.
Assuming you have SharePoint 2013/2010, you can create Create/Read/Update/Delete operations on directly sql table using BCS service of SharePoint. That will save you default development of web part and handle all information properly.
If you don't want to use BCS and sql (not sharepoint sql) information required, you can create custom web part/app part.

Need help trouble shooting Database Gateway for MS SQL Server setup, getting ORA-28546 error

I am trying to setup Oracle Database Gateway for MS SQL Server(I don't have admin access to the MS SQL Server). When I try to test the dblink connection, I get the following error.

3. I use the same listener.ora file for both the db and the gateway.

Obviously, I would like to get this setup to work, but I also have couple other questions regarding this setup.
1. When installing the gateway, it asks to run the root.sh script. the root.sh script as for the following.

Not 'Getting started with SQL server' but 'Getting SQL server started'

As a developer, I hate it when I lose valuable time because Windows 'is not working' and thus I can not work.
I don't know what would be the best forum to post this, please let me know if there is a better one.
Today after, a Windows Update and a reboot SQL server won't start anymore.
The error in the event log:
The SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service terminated with the following service-specific error:
An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions.
I stopped the firewall, but the problem remains.
As it is apparently not the firewall I have no idea how to resolve this problem, any suggestions welcome.

Is there any T-Sql Command in Sql Server to get the list of Errors Occurred , While Writing a Queries.
Like in server any thing if we get a error it will be stored in logs right (EG : Exec SP_ReadErrorLog ),Or going through SqlServer-Agent.
Example :

Error in setting datasource location from oracle to sql server

Hello,
I have an application that uses a table named "events" which conflicts the sys.events view in master database in sql server. The error i was encountering is that, whenever i tried to set the datasource location of my crystal report from its previous connection oracle to sql server, i get an error saying that some of the fields has not been updated because theres no matching fields to the current connection. It seems that crystal is pointing on sys.events view on master db and not on the events table in myDb database. How can I tell crystal reports to not pick up sys.events and get only myDB.events table.

The exact statement in oracle side which causing this error (O2SS0050:
Conversion of identifier 'to_date(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported.) is below:

Statement causing error O2SS0050:
Conversion of identifier 'regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported is below.
nCount2:= length(regexp_replace(sDataRow,'[^,]'));
So there is no statement which is using to_date(VARCHAR2,
CHAR) and regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR) in as such. 'MON-YYYY' and '[^,]'
are CHAR values hence SSMA is unable to convert it from varchar2 to char.
Regarding SYSDATE issue, you mean to put below code in target(SQL) side in SSMA ?

SharePoint TempDB.mdf growing too large? I have to restart SQL Server all the time. Please help

On our DEV SharePoint farm > SQL server
The tempdb.mdf size grows too quickly and too much. I am tired of increasing the space and cannot do that anymore.
All the time I have to reboot the SQL server to get tempdb to normal size.
The Live farm is okay (with similar data) so it must be something wrong with our
DEV environment.
Any idea how to fix this please?

How do you get the tempdb to 'normal size'? How large is large and how small is normal.
Have you put the databases in simple recovery mode? It's normal for dev environments to not have the required transaction log backups to keep the ldf files in check. That won't affect the tempdb but if you've got bigger issues then that might be a symptom.
Have you turned off autogrowth for the temp DB?

You asked for "who", not for "where".
You can use MS MAP =
Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit : "Software Usage Tracker Feature Overview ....
SQL Server" to get reports, which software is running on which machine.
Or you can use this PowerShell Script

For both you need permissions to fetch the required information from all machines, of course.

Connect to Microsoft SQL server 2012

Currently My OSB connects to MS SQL server to get some data and then construct the request to submit to another web service. But recently the SQL server that I connect to has upgraded(previously was MS SQL 2005) to MS SQL to 2012. There are certain properties that needs to be changed in the connection property(for example : ApplicationIntent=ReadOnly) and I am not sure where to change this connection property. I am using sqljdbc4.jar for connectivity. Please advice. This is a bit urgent and appreciate if someone can help me out ASAP.

The Summary:
I have made a work around to resolve my problem. I have created a new virtual server on the second physical DELL server (with SQL Express 2012).
The problem seems to be a network issue on the hyper-V virtual switch!!
More details:
As described previously, VS connects to SQL service within the same Hyper-V only, although all configuration are right. From any PC within my domain, I can connect to the SQL server on the first Hyper-V service using the ODBC or the connection string file
(.UDL), BUT not through the “visual studio express 2012 web” !!!!!!!!!
Now, I can connect from any PC (using visual studio express 2012 web) to any SQL server Express 2012 on the second Hyper-V .
I have made 4 virtual service on the first hyperV and 4 on the second HyperV. All with the same result:
VS on PC’s can connect normally to any SQL server on the second HyperV
VS on PC’s can NOT connect to any SQL server on the first HyperV
VS on virtual servers on first HyperV can connect normally to any SQL server on the same physical machine/Same hyperV .
VS on virtual servers on first HyperV can connect normally to any SQL server on the second physical machine/Second hyperV .
VS on virtual servers on the second HyperV can connect to any SQL server on PC’s or on the second HyperV/Same physical machine.
VS on virtual servers on the second HyperV can NOT connect SQL servers on the first HyperV

How to create a database in SQL Server Express 2014 to be used with LV Database Toolkit

I use LV Database Toolkit, which by default uses Jet database. Now I want to use SQL database with LV Database Toolkit. I have downloaded and installed "SQL Server 2014 Express with Tools" in my Labview Laptop. Now I want to create a database in SQL Server, because I think it is a requirement for creating a "udl connection file" (*.udl file). Please help me!

I made a database whose path is: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\DATA\depot1
I tried to make .udl connection file, but when I click on "test connection" with the provider: "OLEDB Provider for Microsoft SQL Server" I get the Error "UDL Connection File Failure" (attached below)
When I tried to make the .udl connection file with the provider "Microsoft SQL native Client 11.0" and when I click on "Test Connection" I get the Error" UDL Native Client_1"& " UDL Native Client_2".

We have SCOM 2012 R2 environment ,I have installed SQL SERVER MPs 6.5.0.1 and installed SCOM agent on some of SQL Server. Some of the SQL Server are monitoring working properly not all SQL Server but getting error for some of SQL Server in event log

for resolution ,I have created a Run as account (windows)for SQL monitoring then associated it with Run as profile with SQL Server default account,Discovery account and Monitoring account and distribute it securely to each SQL Server health service object
.The run as account have added to local admin group on each SQL server.
How to resolved the event log error and how to get database information for all instances of sql server.

It seems like that the action account that run the script does not have enough permissions on the monitored SQL server, I would like to suggest you follow the below link to check your runas account configuration:

Case sensitive within character literals in SQL Server and Oracle

I am migrating SQL Server database to Oracle database by using Oracle Workbench.
SQL Server is not case sensitive, but Oracle PL/SQL is case sensitive within character literals. for example, if sort the following string ('UN','Win', 'iS' ,'Ne','zS'), SQL Server will get ('iS', 'Ne','UN','Win','zS') order, but Oracle PL/SQL will return ('Ne','UN','Win','iS','zS') order.
Anyone has idea how I can get same result as SQL Server without change PL/SQL code (I don't want to change "ORDER BY typename" to "ORDER BY UPPER(typename)" for every stored procedure).

is the closest thing I know of, but UPPER() is the only sure way.
West_European sort order is AaBbCc ... 0123456789
usually sort order is 0123456789 ABC ... abc ...

Instant Client with SQL Server - HELP!!

G'day all...
My goal is to connect to a server using Oracle Database version 8.1.7.4, from a server which does not have either Oracle Database or the full Oracle Client, preferrably using SQL Server DTS packages.
With that said, I have installed instant client basic and instant client ODBC suppliment on our first development server using the instructions at the following link without any difficulties, although I do admit that I only have a tnsnames.ora file and not a sqlnet.ora file:

The trouble is, when I attempt to deploy it on any of our other servers it fails. When I attempt to connect using Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle in a DTS package in SQL Server I get the following error message:
HResult of 0x8004005 (-2147467259) returned Unexpected error occurred. An error result was returned without an error message.
(Note: This is seen on all other servers I've tried this on except for the first one).
I have also tried setting up a System ODBC connection using the Instant Client driver but it returned this error message:
Unable to connect
SQLState=S1000
[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12705: invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specified
In desperation I have also tried installing the Oracle RDB Driver and the Oracle 8.1.7.8.1.0 ODBC driver. Both appear to install successfully yet nothing seems to work.
As far as I can tell,l these are the differences between the first server and the other servers:
- First server is MS SQL Server 2000 version: 8.00.760, rest are 8.00.818
- First server is running MS SQL Server Analysis services, rest are not
- First server is MS Windows 2000 Advanced Server, rest are MS Windows 2000 Server
So my first question: Does anyone know if the Instant Client tool works with SQL Server version: 8.00.818?
My second question: Can anyone else suggest something that I haven't tried yet, short of installing the Full Oracle Client on this server? Not that I'm opposed to doing that, it's just that it's a last resort idea as of now...

Kent, I see that many others have reported that error (doing
a google search), but I see no ready answers. I saw something that
reminded me of a connection string value that I've seen answer some
problems. May be worth a shot for you: try adding this string to
the connection string (in "advanced options") for your datasource:
AuthenticationMethod=Type2
If it doesn't solve it, remove it. But keep it handy in case
it ever may help with some other problem.
