SQL server issue on x40
I recently started with an unusual error on each re-boot......'SQL server install is either corrupt or tampered with (unknown package id)...pls uninstall and then re-run setup to correct.'
Question, do I really need SQL server or can I remove it completely? How is it removed?
(I mostly use the XP laptop for MS office apps and web browsing.)
If I need to remove and then re-install SQL server, can you please suggest this process as well. MS has been no help and told me to call Lenovo who basically said sorry, pls sign up for service contract....many thanks for the help.....
Thanks...SQL came with my PC, all the issues seemed to start after I had HP support service try to diagnose a printer port issue which they could not fix, they messed around on MSCONFIG and said they reset it back to normal........
I have also be having intermittent issues with Windows Installer service not starting, and having to go into services an 'try' to start that service. If I cannot start the installer, I usually have to reboot as well to fix the issue.....could they be related?
I have also started seeing a a 'LuluCallback proxy error' pop up box recently as well, very annonying as I cannot close that box and also have to reboot.......thanks.

Internal Error (-1002) SQL server issue
Hi Experts,
Installed SAP B1 in new client, and creted ODBC table also, When i open SAP B1, i cannot get the company current server is
showing MSSQL instead of MSSQL_2005, it cannont connected to the database.
Can any one help from this issue,
Thanks in advance.
Anand RHi Anand,
This issue probably occurs due to the fact that the SQL server Native client is not installed in the client's workstation. When installing B1 with SQL 2005, It is required that all the client machines have the "SQL Native Client" component installed on all the client workstations before starting with the B1 client installations.
The "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client" is available in the SQL2005 CD. All you need to do is to put in the CD and from the installation wizard, choose to install the SQL Server Native Client. The Native client is also available for download at:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=536fd7d5-013f-49bc-9fc7-77dede4bb075&displaylang=en
Note: This has to be done before you start the installation of B1 Clients. Please install the SQL Server Native Client in all the workstation to resolve the issue. Please refer to SAP note : [1015229|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1odSZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1015229].
hope it helps,

SAP Tools for SQL Server issue
Hi,
I used SAP tools to upgrade the database after upgrading MS SQL Server 2000 to MS SQL Server 2005. In the middle of the process I got the following error:
MDB-05053 Errors when executing sql command: <p nr="0"/>.
sapinst.log and sapinst_dev.log shows this error first:
FCO-00011 The step RunMAXConversion with step key |SAPMSSTOOLS|ind|ind|ind|ind|0|0|MssSysCopy|ind|ind|ind|ind|4|0|MssYukonUpg|ind|ind|ind|ind|5|0|RunMAXConversion was executed with status ERROR .
Any idea ?
GeorgeHi,
please open a command prompt, switch to the installation directory under Program Files and set the environment variable
set SAPINST_MSS_LOG=0N
Start the sapinst tool again from the same location from this command promt. Then a MSSLog.log is written during the run. Check the log for additional errors.

Need help on SQL server issues
Hello,
We have a table (example: tableA) with approximately 14 million records and many stored procedures uses this table for joins during retrieve on UI.
The data in this table will be populated through an SSIS package, once in every day. Actually, the SSIS package will populate another table (example: tableA_ETL) and then renames the table to the original name (example: from tableA_ETL to tableA and tableA
to tableA_ETL) so that it would not affect the end users during data populate.
Now the issue is that we are getting 'Invalid object name dbo.tableA' error while user try to retrieve on UI. We observed that this is happening when user does a retrieve operation through UI during the table rename (example from tableA_ETL to tableA).
Could anyone please suggest any solution for this?
Thanks
RakeshRichard.
What is use of FREEPROCCACHE ? is it really required. You should have also included in your answer the grave afteraffects of running this command. This would clear cache store for proc and proc might start taking longer time to execute.
The issue is simple here IMO its just the object change is not happening correctly or users are trying to access when change is happening
Please mark this reply as answer if it solved your issue or vote as helpful if it helped so that other forum members can benefit from it

Unable to install SQL server 2000 and 2005 on Satellite A205-s5831
Hello everyone.
I Needs some helps from all of you.
I have Toshiba Laptop Satellite A205-S5831.
Its Have Windows Vista Home Premium.
And I am unable to install SQL server 2000 and 2005.
I also Unable to Install Windows XP SP2.
Problem is SATA driver.
Plz Help me ...!
Response meHi
The Windows XP needs a SATA driver if you want to install it on the notebook with SATA HDD controller.
The SATA driver can be found in the Intel Storage Manager.
I would recommend using the nLite program to include a SATA driver into the new Windows XP CD and then to boot from the new created XP CD.
Here you will find all details regarding the nLite:
http://www.nliteos.com/
Regarding SQL server issue;
Maybe you will be able to install in on Windows XP. Possibly there is a compatibility issue between the Vista and the SQL server software -
Crystal Log in to SQL Server fails
I have 12 years of working with Crystal Reports and have never seen this error. Version of Crystal is 2008 and the data is in SQL Server. The database connection is OLEDB and the report is connecting to the database using the sa account. The sa account has full rights to the database.
The report was written and was working great with no issues.
Recently it only works about 20% of the time. The other 80% of the time this error occurs after entering the user sa login and password

When I am in a period of time when this error is showing I cannot create ans ODBC connection either. BUT when the report is running fine I can create the ODBC.
Any ideas and help as to what is going on there would be greatly appreciated.just a thought but the database does not go offline ( for backup or any other reason) overnight
and your reports happen overnight.
also if OLE and ODBC both stop I assume this is more of a SQl server issue than CR -
PL/SQL speed issues when using a variable
I have a very strange issue that is causing problems.
I am running Golden connecting to a 11g database.
I created a procedure to insert records into a table based on a query. The source query includes variables that I have populated prior to the insert statement. The problem is that if I use the variable for one very specific where statement, the statement goes from running in less than 1 second, to running in 15 minutes. It gets even more strange though. Not only does a 2nd variable not cause any problems, the exact same variable in the same statement works fine.
This procedure takes 15 minutes to run.

v_end_period date;

select add_months(trunc(sysdate,'mm'), -1), trunc(sysdate,'mm')

and action_type = 'XYZ');

end; This procedure runs in less than 1 second, yet returns the exact same results.

and action_time >= v_start_period and action_time < v_end_period
and action_type = 'XYZ');
commit;
end;The only difference between the two is where I replace the first v_end_period variable with trunc(sysdate,'mm').
I've been googling for possible solutions and keep running into something called "parameter sniffing". It appears to be a SQL Server issue though, as I cannot find solutions for Oracle. I tried nesting the insert statement inside it's own procedure with new variables populated by the old variables, but nothing changed.

Edited by: user_7000017 on Jan 8, 2013 9:52 AM Put the code in code tags. You are not describing procedures. You are listing anonymous PL/SQL blocks.
As for the code - this approach to assigning PL/SQL variables are highly questionable. As the functions are native PL/SQL functions too, there is no need to parse and execute a SQL cursor, do context switching, in order to assign values to PL/SQL variables.
This is wrong:
select
add_months(trunc(sysdate,'mm'), -1), trunc(sysdate,'mm')
into v_start_period, v_end_period
from dual;This is correct:
v_start_period := add_months(trunc(sysdate,'mm'), -1);
v_end_period := trunc(sysdate,'mm');Just as you would not use +"select 1 into plVariable from dual;+", instead of a standard variable assignment statement like +"plVariable := 1;"+.
As for the performance/execution difference. Does not make sense. I suggest simplifying the code in order to isolate the problem. For example, take that in-line SQL (aliased as a in the main SQL) and create a testcase where it uses the function, versus a PL/SQL bind variable with the same data type and value as that returned by the function. Examine and compare the execution plans.
Increase complexity (if no error) and repeat. Until the error is isolated.
The 1st step in any troubleshooting, is IDENTIFYING the problem. Without knowing what the problem is, how can one fix it? -

Including AlwaysOn Listeners in a SQL Server Browser list box
I am using the SmoApplication.EnumAvailableSqlServers class/method to enumerate SQL Servers on my network to allow my users to select a SQL Server from a list of the available servers on the network.
My issue is that AlwaysOn Availability Groups (listeners) are not included in this list. I understand how it would be difficult for the EnumAvailableSqlServers method to find them (AO listeners have non-standard port numbers), but are there
any alternatives other than having users type in everything by hand (very error-prone and is a bit, let's say, user-belligerent)?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rob

Having issues with getting SQL Server Express to start services and run.
Good afternoon everyone,
I have been working on a 2012 R2 server getting ready to move databases to new hardware. I had SQL Server Express 2008 R2 running on this server with no issues. I was handed another software package that ran SQL Express 2012 and had to for compatibility
reasons. I have had multiple versions run on Server 2012 before with no issues. This time, not so lucky. When the installer from the updated package put on SQL Express 2012 it completed with errors ( error log posted at the end of post) and
would not allow me to run software. I then tried the db that I had installed on 2008 R2 and it also gave the same error as the 2012 version. IN basic terms the required services attempted to start and shut back down again. I have received
Error 1068 about database handles and error %%945. I know this db has plenty of space and the permissions were added for the Admin account to access both db's. I then uninstalled both versions and tried again, with the same errors listed when
I tried to start the services. I am thinking that a clean install would fix the issue however I am not certain what files/folders/reg entries need to be deleted or modified. I have researched all the errors I can find, however I am very
new with SQL anything so I know I am missing something. I also do not have an "E:" drive on this server (not sure why it is going there). Input would be very welcome as I am not certain where to go from here.
Thanks,
Matt

Hi HMLunger,
Did you install the SQL Server instance successfully? If not, please help to post the summary and detail logs for analysis. By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
However, if you fail to start SQL Server Express service after successfully installing SQL Server,

SQL Server 2000 std Report Performance Issue
Dear All,
I have a VB based desktop application with back end MS SQL server 2000 database with server machine ibmx5650 with specs intel xeon 2.7GHz (24 CPU's) & 24GB RAM.
There are two things i need help:
Recently we have upgrade the SQL server from 2000 personal edition to the 2000 standard edition. There comes a problem with one of the Report in the application. The report took almost 30 mins previously in SQL 2000 personal edition. But after the upgrade
to Standard edition we are unable to view report before 3 hours even sometimes it doesn't appear after several hours.
Secondly for brief testing i have installed the personal edition on a simple PC rather then a server PC specs are corei5 & 4 GB of RAM. The same report is generated in only 15 mins from the application with this desktop machine as DB server.
Please help me out i have gone through all SQL Server & system performance log of my server machine everything is normal but the report is taking too long & i can only generate that report from personal edition.
Is there the difference due the higher corei5 processor in desktop machine or there is any other issue behind this.
Your prompt response is highly appreciated.
Regards,
Rashid AliHello,
SQL Server 2000 is not support since 2013. Please upgrade to SQL Server 2012 to get better performance and support.
Thanks for your understanding and support.

After reinstalling Windows Server 2008 R2 EE my SQL 2008 R2 Sp2 Instances have some connection issues.
The server were installed under the same hostname, but he got a new sid in my active directory.
On the server there one DB Engine MSSQLSERVER, two named Reporting Services for MS crm 4.0 and SCOM and one Analysis Services Instance.
The DB Engine will collect Data from another DB, before writing to Analysis Services.
Here are the problems on the server:
When I connect via SSMS remotly, I sometimes get this error: Failed to connect to server <hostname> ... Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server - Error 5
Both RS Instances have many event log errors like "Report Server (Instance) cannot connect to the report server database.". RS Reports are working fine, but sometimes the rendering is taking a long
time.
The DB Engine Agent Job to collect Data sometimes throw the following error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0" Hresult:
0x80004005 Description: "Unable to complete login process due to delay in opening server connection". End Error Error: 2013-12-10 06:03:40.41 Code: 0xC00291EC
User use Excel to connect to the Cube on my server. Often they got timeout errors. When they connect again it will work.
Are there any solutons on this?
Thanks a lot!Hello,
The server were installed under the same hostname, but he got a new sid in my active directory.
Did you connect to SQL Server instance with Windows authentication? Since the SID of domain account is changed, the SQL Server instace may cannot verify the login account which stored in the master with old SID. In that case, please try to connect
SQL Server with SQL authentication and then readd the domian as login the instance.

Hello,
I have configured BizTalk Services Hybrid Connection between Standard Azure Website and SQL Server 2014 on premise.
Azure Management portal shows the status of Hybrid Connection as established.
However, the website throws an error when trying to open a connection

(The same website, with the same connection string deployed on SQL Server machine works correctly).
I tried various options with the connections sting (IP address instead of machine name, Trusted_Connection=False, Encrypt=False, etc. the result is the same

Issue installing SQL Server 2012(with SP1) on windows 7 Error result: -2067529718
When running the installation, it suddenly stops without any error popup.
I ran the installation from the command prompt and this is what I get:
An error occurred during the SQL Server 2012 Setup operation.
Error result: -2067529718
Result facility code: 1220
Result error code: 10
I recently uninstalled SQL Server 2012 SP1, because the SQL server service was not starting up, it would just hang in there with no response. I tried many things to get that issue fixed, finally I decided to uninstall and start fresh but I couldn't since
I was getting an error stating that I needed Windows 7 SP1(which was already installed). I downloaded the
microsoft fix it tool which fixed the issue.
On the control panel/Programs and features, I still see that SQL Server 2012 is listed if I click to uninstall again it tells me:
An error occurred while trying to uninstall Microsoft SQL Server 2012. it may have already been uninstalled. do you want to remove Microsoft SQL Server 2012 from the Programs and features list?
if I click yes, eventually it will be listed again.
currently I'm not able to install SQL server again and besides the info provided there are not error messages (I also copied the installation files to disk).
UPDATE: it appears that the sql server was not completely removed from the system, I still see listed the SQL server(SQLExpress) and server browser services on the SQL server configuration manager.
Thanks.1) First Reboot your server and try again for the installation.
2) If first fail again than Take a backup of Registry first for safe side and then delete the entries of SQL server 2012 if found take a reboot again and try to install again.
One more thing if installation created any file then move/Delete that also before installation. -
SQL Server 2008 Express edition install issue.
Ok, i've been looking around forums for a while now and have not found a post similar to this one or one that offers a solution; so here it goes.
I'm trying to install management studio and in the web platform installer i keep getting this error:
"You must install visual C++ 2008 SP1 before you can install SQL server 2008 Express with tools"
I managed to get the install to "work", but it didn't actually install the studio app. So heres my questions:
Firstly...why? i've installed this before and not had any issues at all, so why the sudden need for C++?
Secondly, does anyone have any insight into my problem and how i cant actually install it?
The only real difference between this install and previous installs is that i'm not running it on vista home premium 64-bit (previously 32-bit).
I tried installing visual C++ express, but that didn't work.
Thank you in advance and for giving up your time to read this.Hi,
Based on the error message, your computer has Visual C++ 2008 before you install SQL Server 2008. However, Visual Studio 2008 does not support having Visual Studio 2008 without a service pack. The error message indicates you to install Service Pack 1 for Visual C++. Please download Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 from the following link and install it:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=FBEE1648-7106-44A7-9649-6D9F6D58056E&displaylang=en
For more information, please refer to "Actions that are required before you install SQL Server 2008 on a computer that has Visual Studio 2008 or the prerelease version of SQL Server 2008 installed":

If there are any more questions, please let me know.
Thanks.
