About your question on How and Who changed it, i told that nobody changed it. I found in this way.

I also Saw the plan and the path of Database and database log was ok , i mean PHARMANEXT_LOG_95ABA2F6-DC67-4CFC etc...
was exactly like in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA
Maybe is something wrong with my backup script, but i dont think so because before 23 of december
everithing was ok. After this date it failed.
Anyway check this script of "Remove SQL log" , the one that you think is a culprit:

DECLARE @fileName VARCHAR(256)

Hello,
You have created a cursor which will take all user databases and change recovery model to Simple and then to full what this will cause it will break the log chain and you might loose your RPO and RTO.This operation truncates the log .Please stop this job
immediately.It is worst you can do to your Database recovery and availability.After this you are trying to shrink .
As pointed out it is seriously not advised to shrink data file.And if you have proper trn log backup it manages the growth of log file
Hope this helps

SQL Server jobs fail if I signout the Remote Desktop connection
I have some SSIS jobs running in the production server which we usually take that server by Windows' Remote Desktop Connection to monitor the jobs. The problem in our case is If we sign out the server in remote connection, all the sql server jobs getting failed

Capture duration time and use it in customized the SQL Server Job System Message
Hi there
I am trying to capture the job duration time and put it on the customized Job email subject.
This is the original message from SQL server, the Bold one is what I am trying to capture.
JOB RUN:
'Hello' was run on 7/30/2014 at 8:05:00 AM
DURATION:
0 hours, 0 minutes, 2 seconds
STATUS:
Succeeded
MESSAGES: The job succeeded.
The Job was invoked by Schedule 27 (Job 2). The last step to run was step 1 (Test).
Is there anyway to do that? I have tried to pull it from jobhistory and I did't have any luck.

Conversion Error During the Execution of SQL Server Job
Hello,
I have a production SQL server and a test SQL server that mimics the production server. On the production server all the jobs which do a variety of things using Transact SQL and SSIS packages work flawlessly. However one of the jobs on the test server fails
at a step and issues the following error:
executed as user: DomainName\administrator. Conversion failed when converting datetime from character string. [SQLSTATE 22007] (Error 241).
The step failed.
Here is the code contained in the steps Command window (same exact code that works fine on the production server):
declare @Now datetime
declare @DB_Date datetime
declare @Trip_Err datetime
select @Now = convert(varchar,getdate(),101)
select @DB_Date = (select convert(varchar,max(ProcessDate),101) from I_Loans)
if @now <> @DB_Date
begin
truncate table I_Loans
end
else
select @Trip_err = 'error'
I don’t see anything preventing this code from executing. However, I am not a programmer. My SQL Server version is below:
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.5324.00 (Intel X86)
Aug 24 2012 14:24:46 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation
Standard Edition on Windows NT 6.0 (Build 6002: Service Pack 2)
Any advice or solutions will be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if I need to provide more information.
Thank you,
Dave
David YoungCould you run this query from management studio in test?
select convert(varchar,max(ProcessDate),101) from I_Loans
It could be something to do with the ProcessDate value which had issues to convert

Sql server job is succeeding even though it should fail
Hi,
I created a sql server job with one job step for a SSIS package using Powershell.
When I run the job (manually), it shows "success" state, but it should fail (because of the bad configuration parameters).
But if I go to job properties, and then edit job step properties (don't have to make any changes here, just clicking ok button is enough)
then the job run will fail as expected.
I am not sure why it is not failing first time?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

According to your description, if you want to delete files with a SQL Agent job in SQL Server, you can also use xp_cmdshell
command. Here is a full SQL query that is used for deleting the files.

Firing SQL Server Job Through Java
Hi All
How can I fire a SQL Server Job from Java. I am from data warehousing background and new to java. I process my cubes though a package in DTS and have encapsulated the package in a job.
I can connect to the SQL Server where the package & job reside.
Regards
AbhinavCan it be called like a stored procedure? If so (and probably it can) look into CallableStatement... a good first step would be to see how to run it through SQl statements in an admin tool (like QueryAnalyzer) to see how it can be invoked.
If it can be invoked through SQL at all you can call it in Java. Also be aware of permission issues. -
Hi,
I am looking at implementing Grid Control monitoring on our SQL Server estate.
One of the items we need to monitor for is SQL Server jobs which have failed (including job name and date).
Does anyone have an idea of how this can be done. I'm sure I must be missing a trick here as it would seem strange that this information is being collected but can't be put into a metric or notification.
Any assistance or pointers greatly appreciated!Could you please clarify what exactly is your question and what phase are you in implementing monitoring SQL Server usign Grid Control?
Are you just about to install the plug-in for SQL Server or you are already trying to configure monitoring SQL Server jobs? I'm asking this because you mentioned "I am looking at implementing Grid Control monitoring on our SQL Server estate." which implies you are just planning to implement.
Try reading metalink note 367797.1. You'll find lots of information and other metalink notes which may resolve your problem.
If you can clarify your exact problem, the better. -
The SharePoint Admin before me was experiencing many issues with SQL Server 1 and SQL Server 2. The main issue was when SQL1 went down and during the failover process was having trouble failing over to SQL2. Any issues during the failover process were resolved,
on the way back to SQL1. New hardware resolved a lot of the issues says the company, but now are requesting the timer changed from 15 minutes to 1 minute or 2 minutes. I have no idea where to look. Any ideas? It would be a great help!
If someone could give me more insight to what this all actually means would be very helpful, I, myself don't know what this all means.On one of the SQL boxes, it will be listed under Control Panel -> Administration Tools. It may be named slightly different depending on the version of Windows you're running.
If you're asking about common issues with any SharePoint updates, generally they just fail when running the Config Wizard. I usually just retry running it to start with, then investigate issues in the ULS logs if it fails again.

I am getting errors in one of the BT jobs, they recommend running a terminator tool available from MS ... One of the requirements is to disable all the sql server jobs, my question is: Can I just stop the sql server agent? Or this won't do it ....
Thanks
Bico BielichHi,
I assume that you are talking about issue identified by Monitor BizTalk Server job.
Why you want to stop the sql server agent? There could be other Non-BizTalk jobs running too.
You just need to make sure that you have a BizTalk Backup of your databases, all the BTS hosts have been stopped,
BTS SQL Agent jobs have been disabled.
Refer:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/biztalkcpr/archive/2011/02/10/using-biztalk-terminator-to-resolve-issues-identified-by-biztalk-msgboxviewer.aspx
Pls follow the link and perform action based on the respective issue reported by the

SQL Server Agent fails to connect to DB after enabling mirror on failover cluster
Hello:
We have multiple databases running in a Failover Cluster instance: SQL 2012SP1 on Server 2008 R2 failover cluster (NOT AlwaysOn). We are trying to add a high-performance mirror in a standalone instance for DR. My understanding is that should be a perfectly
normal, supported configuration.
The mirroring is working properly; however, the clustered SQL Server agent is unable to run jobs that run in the mirrored databases.
We get the following in the job log: Unable to connect to SQL Server 'VIRTUALSERVERNAME\INSTANCE'. The step failed.
There is a partner message in the agent log: [165] ODBC Error: 0, Connecting to a mirrored SQL Server instance using the MultiSubnetFailover connection option is not supported. [SQLSTATE IMH01]
The cluster is not a mulitsubnet cluster. All hosts are connected to the same subnets and there is no storage replication. I can not find any place where I can adjust the connect string options for SQL Agent.
Any guidance or suggestions on how to resolve this would be appreciated.
~joeSQL Team - MSFT:
Thank you for taking the time to research and provide a clear answer.
This seems very much a workaround and very unsatisfactory.
You are correct, there is an IP dependency with OR condition. Moving to an AND condition is not viable for us. The whole point is to provide network redundancy. With an AND condition, if EITHER network interface fails, the service will go offline or fail
to come online without manual intervention. This is arguably worse for uptime than having a single interface available.
We are in process of rewriting all our SQL jobs to start in tempdb before transitioning to the appropriate target database. If this works for all of our jobs, I will mark the above response as answer.
Again, thank you for the answer.

ERROR – SQL Server Login Failed, Error 11001
We have an application that uses MSDE as its ‘Back-end’.
It has been working fine for years. We have however had to recently re-build the Operating System on our own Server that it was running on.
Original O/S Environment
We used Windows Server 2008 r2, using
Hyper-V to run Windows Server 2003 so that we can use
MSDE to run our application.
We do not want to change to later versions of SQL Server Express as they no-longer support Replication.
NEW O/S Environment
When we re-built the Server we went for Windows Server 2008 r2, using
Hyper-V to run Windows 7 Enterprise so that we can use
MSDE to run our application.
We have used this setup many times before and know that MSDE runs quite happily under Windows 7.
Servers have been renamed
The real Windows Server 2008 r2 machine used to be called FILESERVER.
It is now called FILE-SERVER.
The virtual machine running our application was originally called GEMSERVER.
It is now called GEM-SERVER.
What’s happening on the Server
The application is running fine. We can access the underlying MDSE Database with SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express without problem.
We can build a test ODBC Data Source and connect to the ‘SQL Server’ Database, again without problems.
What’s happening on the Client PC
The application does not connect. I get:
An error occurred while connecting.
[DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (Connect())SQL Server does not exist
or access denied.
When I build a ODBC Data Source to test the Connection I get:
Microsoft SQL Server Login
Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 11001
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen
(Connect()).
Connection failed:
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 6
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]Specified SQL
server not found
I can Ping GEM-SERVER from the Client PC without problems.
I have disabled Firewalls an Anti-Virus Software on both the GEM-SERVER and the Client PC – to no avail.
I’ve tried connecting with:
Named Pipes,
TCP/IP,
IP Address of GEM-SERVER – 192.168.16.122,
Using Specific Port 1433 in connection.
NONE of it worked. L
ANYBODY any ideas what to try next?Here's the solution that we came up with to our own problem:
This problem was actually caused by a bug in our own Application.
For some reason when we restored our MDSE Database the correct SQL Server Access Protocols were not setup correctly. (It is designed to handle these setup issues for us and has done so previously.)
We still have to determine why it happened and rectify the problem within our Software.
However to correct the problem with our own 'Server' we had to manually:
Run netsvrcn.exe using command prompt as an Administrator on the ‘Server’ running the MSDE Database,
Enable TCP and NAMED PIPES protocol
Restart SQL Server instance
Exclude the ports SQL Server normally listens on, from the firewall using ‘Windows Firewall Advanced Security’ for both in-bound and out-bound rules:
1433 TCP port
1434 UDP port
We then tested the ODBC connection from client machine and found that it worked fine, as indeed did our application.
However we still have a residual problem.
For we cannot connect to our Server called GEM-SERVER using GEM-SERVER\GEMSQLSRVR we have had to use 192.168.16.122\GEMSQLSRVR.
We are not sure why. We obviously wish to use the machine’s name rather than its IP Address, as its IP Address is dynamically assigned by a DHCP server so may change in future.
Do I need to raise this remaining problem as a separate issue? -
How can i load microsoft SQL Server driver in the classpath ?
Hi
i need to have microsoft SQL Server driver in the classpath , how can i do that to run the following code :
String driver = "com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver";
Class.forName(driver);
with best regardsJust as information, if you need to load a JDBC driver dynamically without previously knowing its name (meaning you can't add it to the classpath manually in your startup batch), the following will not work:
// register the SQL driver as necessary
DriverManager.registerDriver(new com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver());
// connect to the DB by using the driver.
String connString = "my_dbserver:1433;databasename=my_database";
String strDBConnect = "jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://" + connString;
conn = DriverManager.getConnection(strDBConnect, userName, passwd);
This is because the DriverManager.getConnection checks if the loaded class was loaded by the same class loader than itself. And for dynamic scenarios, you need a new classloader for the new classes.
Above, the class will be loaded correctly, but getConnection will fail.
This behaviour costed me several hours while developing a dialog for adding drivers dynamically, until I saw the reason.
But a solution has been posted in the forums, which goes like this:
// jdbcLoader is my individual class loader, you can construct it with the driver url
Class driverClass = Class.forName(driverName, true, jdbcLoader);
currDriver = (Driver)driverClass.newInstance();
// problem: classes which were loaded in custom class loader are not recognized by DriverManager. So the following would fail:
// conn = DriverManager.getConnection(...)
Properties prop = new Properties();
prop.setProperty("user", (String)paras.get("youruser");
prop.setProperty("password", (String)paras.get("yourpwd");
conn = currDriver.connect((String)paras.get("yourURL", prop); // this one works for all classloaders
But in your case, it seems to be enough to add the file manually, as was described in previous replies...

MaheshI have uploaded detail.txt at below url.

Hi Mahesh,
According to log file, I find the message ‘The setup100.exe.config file was not found, therefore the DTSWizard and SQLWatson app config files were not replaced’. It seems that the SQL Server setup file is not complete. Please check that if the SQL Server
setup file is corrupted, if it is corrupted, please download it again and reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2.
However, if there’s no problem with the setup file, please check that if there is third-party software such as anti-virus software on your computer blocking the process of SQL Server installation. In addition, make sure that you choose ‘Run as administrator’
to launch the setup and configure SQL Server service accounts appropriately with administrator permission during the installation.
For more details about this error, please review the following similar thread.
