Sql statement to determine if amm or ASSM is being used

is there a SQL statement I can use to determine if a DB is using AMM or ASSM. Any examples would be greatly appreciated

As I understand it,
select name, isdefault, display_value  from v$parameter where name in ( 'memory_target' , 'sga_target', 'statistics_level') order by name;
If memory_target is set non-zero, you are using Automatic Memory Management See Managing Memory
Else if sga_target is set non-zero and statistics_level is TYPICAL or ALL, you are using Automatic Shared Memory Management See Managing Memory and Configuring and Using Memory
I don't know the Linux memory setup, so I can't comment on the huge pages interaction with AMM and ASSM.

  • Trying to find a specific SQL statement to determine its cost

    If an sql statement is executed will it ALWAYS show up in the awrrpt report? (10g)
    I am a developer DBA and was handed an SQL statement by the production DBA as being a problem during a specific timeframe within the past hour.
    That statement does not show up in v$LongOps (although other older ones are) nor does it appear in v$sqltext and is not in the awrrpt even when I run the report for the entire day.
    Any other ideas or can I safely broach the Production DBA without looking like an idiot?!!
    Thanks

    I am not using awrrpt report but for sure if your statement has been executed it must have been in v$sqltext but maybe it did not stay very long because it has been rarely executed and replaced in the shared pool by other SQL statements that have been more executed.
    You could setup a copy of your production database on a similar host and run the statement several time in single user mode to check at least its performance in single user with sql_trace=TRUE and tkprof.
    If your statement is SELECT your could also execute it in your production database and check at the sametime v$sqltext and also v$sqlarea, especially for:
    DISK_READS      NUMBER      Sum of the number of disk reads over all child cursors
    BUFFER_GETS      NUMBER      Sum of buffer gets over all child cursors
    USER_IO_WAIT_TIME      NUMBER      User I/O Wait Time (in microseconds)
    CPU_TIME      NUMBER      CPU time (in microseconds) used by this cursor for parsing, executing, and fetching
    ELAPSED_TIME      NUMBER      Elapsed time (in microseconds) used by this cursor for parsing, executing, and fetching

  • Determining where a test case is being used

    I have a test case in TFS 2013.  I need to know what test plans/suites use this test case.  How can I determine that? I want to know if I can delete that test case but I can't figure out how to tell where it is used. If I add the test case to a
    test suite, then I can see in the TFS 2013 Update4 Browser UI the Associated test suites.
    I want this capability without having to add the test case to a test suite.
    Give a test case, tell me all of the associated test suites so that I can remove unused test cases.

    Hi Bruce,
    Thanks for your post.
    As far as I know there’s no such a link relationship displayed in test case work item to show test case belong to which test plan/test suite in current TFS version, You should open the Test Plan/Test Suite in team project Web Access or MTM, then view and
    check all test cases under it.

  • Extracting SQL statement from a Webi document's data provider using SDK.

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to extract the SQL statement from an existing Webi document's data provider using BO SDK?  I've searched through the class library but haven't found any information on this yet.  If you have done it, could you provide some guidance.  Many thanks.

    I found the following Java code that might be of some help to you. I realize you are using .NET but this might push you down the right path.
    The trick here is to use the Report Engine SDK to get the DataProvider of the DocumentInstance. Then, look at the SQLDataProvider to get your SQLContainer.

  • How to use Native SQL statement in JDBC receiver interface

    Dear All,
    Can any one please help us in using Native SQL statement in a JDBC receiver channel. The reason why I need to use Native SQL statement instead of standard XML structure is that I need to execute a dynamic SQL query in third party database system lke:-
    Select Field1 Field2 from TABLE Where Field3 like "%Name'
    I expect the the response in the form of XML file which I can pick up using synchornous interface as mentioned on help.sap.com:-

    The value for %Name can change dynamically according to the transaction and hence cannot be inluded as a KEY element in standard XLM structure,
    Hence I need to know:-
    1. What message mapping I should use in case if I have to use Native SQL statement.
    2.What operation mapping I should use in case if I have to use Native SQL statement.
    If guess correclty I may have to use Java mapping to do the above activities. Hence I want to know
    3 .How do to go about it to do the Java mapping.
    Thanks

    You can use a stored procedure, and call it from jdbc receiver adapter.
    I also solve this issue, with a DBLookup in message mapping. You can refer to my blog, and this usefull 3d:

  • SQL Statement / index on function ??

    Hello
    My environment is : Oracle 9.2.0.7
    In "top sql sessions" I obtained that sql statement as below consumes many ressources.
    When I use "SQL Analyzer" ... no recommandation was specified but I wonder if an index on function may be use to optimize this request.
    I'd like to have your opinion on how to optimize this kind of request :
    SELECT trim(CARD_NUMBER) as CARD_NUMBER,
    trim(CUSTOMER.CLIENTS.CUSTOMER_ID) as CUSTOMER_ID,
    trim(LASTNAME) as LASTNAME,
    trim(FIRSTNAME) as FIRSTNAME,
    trim(EMAIL) as EMAIL,
    FROM CUSTOMER.CARTES, CUSTOMER.CLIENTS
    WHERE CUSTOMER.CARTES.CUSTOMER_ID = CUSTOMER.CLIENTS.CUSTOMER_ID
    AND trim(CUSTOMER.CARTES.CARD_NUMBER) = '1234567890'
    AND (trim(CUSTOMER.CLIENTS.POST_CODE)='12345')
    Plan execution is :
    SQL STATEMENT :
    JOIN
    TABLE ACCESS (FULL) CUSTOMER.CARTES
    TABLE ACCESS (FULL) CUSTOMER.CLIENTS
    Many thanks for any help.
    Regards,
    Guillaume

    AND trim(CUSTOMER.CARTES.CARD_NUMBER) =
    '1234567890'
    AND (trim(CUSTOMER.CLIENTS.POST_CODE)='12345')Yea function based index on trim(CUSTOMER.CARTES.CARD_NUMBER) and trim(CUSTOMER.CLIENTS.POST_CODE) might help.
    BUT I suggest to correct data insertion app and insert already trimmed data in your table to avoid such ugly queries.

  • Inserting your own sql-statements in JSP

    How do I use my own sql-statements in JSP combined with the ones
    generated by JDeveloper?
    It seems to me that the following sentences are the ones
    generating the sql for inserting in a database:
    <jbo:DataSource id="ds" appid="MimPKG.MimPKGModule"
    viewobject="BidragView"/>
    <jbo:Row id="newRow" datasource="ds" action="Create">
    <jbo:SetAttribute dataitem="*"/>
    </jbo:Row>
    I would like to have more control and therefore I need to make
    my own sql-statements.
    Is that possible?
    Thanks

    You can use ExecuteSQL data tag to do so. It allows you to
    include your own query like insert, update etc.

  • Bulk Loading using remote sql statement execution

    Well, i have a different scenario. I want to bulk load the tables like we do in MySQL with LOAD LOCAL DATA sql command.
    I have a file populated with data, what sql statement would bulk load the data into specified table using that file?
    Adnan Memon

    In Oracle, you would either use the SQL*Loader utility to load data from a flat file or you would create an external table (9i and later) that loads the flat file.
    A quick example of the external table approach

  • Multiple sql statements from java

    I am executing sql statements in MaxDB 7.6.04.12 from java using jdbc.
    I want to execute multiple statements at a time, but it seems that however I separate the statements, I get
    com.sap.dbtech.jdbc.exceptions.DatabaseException: [-3014] (at 433): Invalid end of SQL statement
    I have tried separating the statements with just a semi-colon, with a semi-colon and new line, with newline-//-newline (as works with SQL Studio), but whatever I try I get this error or some other.
    Is it possible to do this? and if so how?
    Thanks

    Hi Lars,
    Here are the relevant bits of code.
    However I'm not sure how helpful that will be - I'm using the SpringFramework for my jdbc calls, as it saves a lot of time and effort, and my calls are to Spring methods, which are wrappers round the base jdbc calls.
    I'll post it anyway, just in case you're familiar with Spring. I haven't looked at the Spring code, but my understanding is it pretty much just passes the sql to standard jdbc calls.
    I guess my next step would be to trace through the Spring code as it executes and see if anything becomes apparent. However I'm under some time pressure and was hoping to avoid that.
    My other alternative is to create non-temporary tables, and drop them explicitly when I've finished with them.
        public Set<String> getPriceUpdatedProducts() {
            final Set<String> prods = new TreeSet<String>();
            String sql;
            int updates;
            // need single connection template so subsequent statements can access temp tables:
            JdbcTemplate jtSingle = getSingleConTemplate(jdbcTemplate);
            // inDCs is a list of dist channels for an sql 'in' statement:
            String inDCs = "";
            for (String siteId: siteConfig.getAllSiteIds()) {
                if (!"".equals(inDCs)) inDCs += ",";
                inDCs += "'" + siteConfig.getSiteIdProperty(siteId, "distChanId") + "'";
            // Clear all the changed flags from the last run:
            updates = jtSingle.update("update zchangedartdc set changed = '' ");
            // Get the current data into a temp table:
            sql = "create table temp.pricechanges as " +
                  "select A304.matnr, A304.vtweg, konp.kbetr price " +
                  "  from A304 join konp " +

                  "   and char(date, internal) <= chr(A304.datbi) " +
                  "   and A304.kappl = 'V' ";
            jtSingle.execute(sql);
            // Get the changes into a second temp table:
            sql = "create table temp.changedarts as " +
                  "select temp.pricechanges.* " +
                  "  from temp.pricechanges, zchangedartdc " +
                  " where zchangedartdc.matnr = temp.pricechanges.matnr " +
                  "   and zchangedartdc.vtweg = temp.pricechanges.vtweg " +
                  "   and zchangedartdc.price != temp.pricechanges.price ";
            jtSingle.execute(sql);
            // save the changes, and flag them:
            sql = "update zchangedartdc " +
                  "   set (price, changed) = (select price, 'X'  " +
                  "                             from temp.changedarts " +
                  "                            where zchangedartdc.matnr = temp.changedarts.matnr " +
                  "                              and zchangedartdc.vtweg = temp.changedarts.vtweg) " +
                  " where matnr||vtweg in (select matnr||vtweg from temp.changedarts) ";

  • Determining the "type" of a SQL statement

    I'm using the Oracle thin driver with my JDBC program.
    I want to be able to accept a String containing a SQL statement from the user and execute it. If it's a select statement then present the rows returned in a JTable, otherwise retrieve the return value for the command (eg INSERT, DELETE, etc).
    Is there any "readymade" method in JDBC or Oracle driver to determine the type of a SQL statement in this sense. Or do I have to parse it myself? (Imagine having to write code to strip comments out etc!)

    There is no "readymade" method. But an easy way to check will be to check the first 6 charchters of the string.
    You could use
    newString = SQL.substring(0, 5); to obtain the first 6 characters.
    if the characters are "select"
    //do select things
    else
    // do insert/delete whatever things

  • Produce report NOT based on a single sql statement

    I want to produce a tabular report based on a series of sql statments. Specifically, a report of managers that wil include counts of employees that are in other tables using differing criterias.
    Name Count Count
    using using
    criteria 1 criteria 2
    Manager1 35 242
    I would expect to write an anonymous pl/sql block with a driving cursor determining the managers to report on. Within that cursor, I would execute a number of other queries to derive the count for each of the two columns.
    I have tried creating a report region based on a sql statement, but that requires a single sql statement. I also tried creating a report region based on plsql, but it required an into statement of defined items. This option looks like it can provide multiple rows, but since it selected 'INTO' named fields, it only creates a report with the last row of data.
    I must be missing something. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

    If you want a wizard to create the form and report for you then yes you need to have a table. One thing that you can do is define a view that contains the data you need and define an Instead Of trigger on that view so the automatic fetch and dml will work but you can have the data stored into the different objects. basically the view and the trigger work as a router/dispatcher for the data.
    *edit*
    I should also add that you can write a pl/sql package which does the fetch and the dml operations with the form items as input. This is the solution I would typically use for any form that was not a simple CRUD form for a table. One thing to note is for the fetch I prefer to use out parameters for the form items so it requires the developer to map the item to the param in the app so it will show up when you are searching through the app. I highly discourage hiding item references inside of packaged code.
    Good Luck!

  • Using Procedure in SQL statement

    Dear Sir,
    As you know, I can use any function in SQL statement. For example:
    SELECT systimestamp,
    Function_Name(variable1, variable2,...)
    FROM anytable;
    So the previous function could only retrieve one value -as functions concepts-. Anyhow, Can I, in someway, use Procedure that take multiple in parameters and return multiple out parameters in SQL statement.
    Thank you in advance.

    Sir,
    I got a way in order to use the benefit of procedure in function. It's trough your idea in using TYPE OBJECT as the following:
    ===================================================================
    create or replace type Missed_Txn_type AS OBJECT
    (Txn_Timestamp_obj timestamp,
    Txn_Type_Obj Number(12));
    ===================================================================
    Then I created function and used this type as returned value:
    FUNCTION Get_Shift_Missed_Txn_Obj(F_Date_In     Date,
                        F_Time_In Timestamp,
                        F_Employee_Id     number)
    RETURN Missed_Txn_type;
    The issue is: I want send the variables of the function through SELECT statement which they come from another table like:
    SELECT
    EMP.ID,
    sd.date_value,
    shf.Time_In,
    T.OBJ.Txn_Timestamp_obj,
    T.OBJ.Txn_Type_Obj
    FROM
    EMPLOYEE EMP,
    Stored_Date SD,
    Shifts shf,
    (select Get_Shift_Missed_Txn_Obj(sd.date_value,
    shf.time_in,
    EMP.Id) OBJ from dual) T
    WHERE
    [where clause]
    But the previous statement returned an error shows that it couldn't determine the (EMP.ID, shf.time_in, sd.date_value...)...
    And the same if I use it in the select list!
    So sir, there is any way in order to solve this issue?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Problem in Calling a function in sql statement.

    when i am trying to call this function using a PL/SQL Block then it is woking fine as shown below.
    SQL> DECLARE

    3 x NUMBER(2);
    4
    5 BEGIN
    6
    7 x := ops_safex_utl.EDIT_ASSC_CNTR_LOG(688);

    when i am trying to run the SQL statement it is returning a exception from the function.
    SELECT ops_safex_utl.EDIT_ASSC_CNTR_LOG(688) from dual --it is returning -1 (i.e exception).
    My sql client version is 9.2.0.1.0. and my data base version is 10.2.0.2.0.
    Please advice.

    Could you post the exception handler within the function.
    It sounds like you return -1 if you experience an error - it would be easier to determine the cause of the problem if you return the Oracle error details, E.g:
    EXCEPTION
       WHEN OTHERS THEN
          RETURN dbms_utility.format_error_backtrace;This will then return a meaningful error, identifying exactly what is causing the error to be generated.
