SQL to Oracle Migraton - Unable to create source model in Migration Workben

We are trying to use Oracle Migration Workbench utility to transfer data from SQL to Oracle. when we start creating the source model we get the following error :-
failed to load source model ora-01401 inserted value too large for column.. this is the error at the ss2k_syslogins table. this is a logical model creation from sql server db.
In case if this is a data issue with the syslogins table/view, is there any way to overcome this or whether we can do any settings at Workbench Level to overcome this..
Thanks in advance,
John.

I think I figured it out.
1 - I used the Migration Work Bench that came with the 9.2.0.1 client - BAD IDEA.
2 - I down loaded the OMWB (10.x) - GOOD IDEA. I also downloaded the plugins so that the versions would match each other. Get rid of any existance of the 'old' OMWB directory under the OracleHome, so as not to get confused.
3 - I realized that you just extract the OMWB.zip file to the C: drive like some third world DOS application, so it won't show up in under your start menu.**
**I find this kinda cheesy that the Oracle installer is not involved here to add it to the Oracle Configuration and Migration menu in start up. I suppose you can copy the unzipped struture over top of the existing clint directory structure, but still dumb.
3 - The other odd piece, you down load the plugin as a zip (and not a jar), BUT DON'T UNZIP IT!! Rather place it in the ..\plugins directory, underneath wherever you unzipped the OMWB, and RENAME IT with a .JAR extension (again don't unzip).
4 - Make a shortcut on your desktop to the omwb.bat file (from where ever you unzipped the OMWB product)
5 - Fire up that icon and the product will look at the new .JAR in the plugin folder and 'tada', you have OMWB with your specific database plugin available.
The new product didn't hang for me. Now I just need to figure out how port this into a shema name OF MY CHOSING, and not the generic OMWB_Login1 that it created.
I f anyone has info on that, let me know.... I think its in the destination creation (step two of the whole process).

was created but it took more than 30 minutes. then i selected remaining few tables it took more than a days but nothing created just showing spinning the wheel. then i tried with fresh project and selected all the tables but same issue nothing created and
also there is no error. during this process i checked database query monitoring there is a big sql statement collection tables metadata. i don't know what was wrong the query taking too much time to complete the  process.
we tried multiple machine and different oracle database all are same issue.
Sql server database -looks good no issues.
Any help/tips/ideas welcome to overcome this issue.

    Hi Sakthimp,
    Welcome to MSDN forum.
Your issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses the usage of Visual Studio IDE such as
WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System
    and Visual Studio Editor.
Because your issue only occurred with oracle database, moreover Oracle developed the Entity Framework for Oracle itself, I suggest that you can consult your issue on Oracle forum/community:
you will get better solution and support there.

  • Unable to create Source system

    Dear Experts,
While creating source sytem in BW i am getting below error
*You have no authorization for basic types (activity 01)*
Target system is CRM , Client is opened , security people are saying they have give all authorization .
could someone pl guide me on this.

    Hi Vamsi,
From the error message, its clearing saying about missing authorization. Hence please check the authorization in BI system for the ID with which you are creating the source system connection and also check the authorization of RFC user which you have defined in RFC of both BI and CRM system.
For RFC user better you assign SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW

    Hello Thomas,
It looks like a Solaris issue. Check if the home directory
/home is reserved in the Solaris configuration.
Check if this fix the problem please perform the following steps:
    1. modify /etc/auto_master file to change the entry for '/home' to say
       '/autohome' instead
    2. reboot
    3. rmdir /home
    4. ln -s /export/home /home (make sure /export/home exists)
Also you could create soladm manually in advance.
    Hope this helps,

  • Unable to Create Source system in RSA1

I have installed a BI Server(Netweaver 2004s). When i try to add source system in RSA1, it gives an error "No entry for BW_USER in table RSADMIN available"
Let me tell what all i tried.
    1) i clicked on settings>global settings- it gives a blank page. when i switch it to change mode, there is a button called "Position" and then "Entry1 of 2". I cant enter any value there and when i click on "Position" button, it says "Table RSADMINAV has no relevant fields"
    2) In se16 tried to maintain RSADMINA table and for BW User field, i gave BW_USER, but there is no "execute" Button. all i see is "Reset" button. i tried pressing F8 key, it wont do anything. I clicked on save but it says "the entry is already exist"
Regarding RFC - i created a user BW_USER in ERP Sytem and ERP_USER in BI server and both the user type are System user.
From both the server i tried to do Connection test and i am not getting any error. but if i try clicking Remote Connection, it wont connect and wont do anything and no Errors.
Please help me Resolving this Issue, Since it became a very critical issue.

    Hi,
Can you check  if there is any other user ID specified in "BW user for ALE".
To check, Go to transaction RSA1 --> Settings --> Global Settings.
If you find a different user id there, then specify the correct BW user id there.
Please refer to OSS Note 410952 for details.
    Hope this solves your problem!!

  • Unable to Create Source System under 'SAP'

    Hi,
We are on BI 7.0 and I am trying to create an R/3 Logical System (RSA1 - Source Systems - SAP - Create...)
But everytime I try to do that logical system is getting created under 'BI' folder (instead of 'SAP' folder). Do you know why this could happen?
    Thanks.

    Hi SDNBI,
I have stumbled across the same phenomenon. Netweaver contains BI and ERP. When in the specific ERP system you want to create under the SAP folder you have in the past used the RSA1 transaction then the system thinks that this system should belong to BI folder. Hence it places that in BI folder. On the other hand when you have not executed RSA1 in the system you want to create then it should place it normally under the SAP folder because in that case it doesn’t relate it to BI.
    Hope that helps

  • How to create a linked server to SQL in Oracle?

I am able to create a linked server to Oracle in SQL.. But I do not know the steps to create a linked server too SQL in Oracle.
How to create a linked server to SQL in Oracle? After creating the linked server to SQL, I would like to create triggers in Oracle DB to insert records into SQL DB.

There are 2 products in Oracle you can use to link to a MS SQl Server. The first one is for free and it is called Database Gateway for ODBC. With a suitable 3rd party ODBC driver you can connect to any foreign database. The second gateway is our commercial gateway and it is called Oracle Database Gateway for MS SQL Server. It is designed for MS SQl Server connections and more powerful then Dg4ODBC. It know how to map a lot of Oracle functions to SQL Server equivalents and you can also use it to directly call SQL Server procedures or functions. This dedicated SQL server gateway is also able to participate in distributed transactions.
But again, this is a commercial gateway and you have to purchase a license for that second gateway, the Database Gateway for MS SQl Server.

  • Unable to create Web Service Model

    Hi All,
I generated one wsdl file from Message Interfaces in Integration Repository of SAP XI.
I am unable to create the model by using this wsdl file in Web Dynpro.
    I followed this approach
In the NWDS > model > createModel > Import WebService Model > LocalFile System or URL > Here I am selecting wsdl file from local system.
But the model is not created. Even it is not giving any message or error.
    Please suggest how to proceed.
    Regards
    Ashish.

    Hi Ashish,
I think you missed something when u r creating the wsdl only.
So do one thing check it again else create the wsdl again and try importing it. It should not be the problem else.I'm giving my wsdl file here..just check it with this. This takes the associate id as input and will give 3 outputs like email id and others as output. I dont think u can use this wsdl. You can simply compare this with ur wsdl and find out wat is the mistake..

    Hi JTaylor,
I am still unable to find FtpAdapter in the EM (Enterprise Manager) so can't find/change the entry for "eis/Ftp/FtpAdapter"
Following are the some application which are already in my EM.
    Applications:-
ascontrol, ccore, coreman, datatags, default, esb-dt, esb-rt,
gateway, hw_services, javasso, orabpel, orainfra, policymanager, ruleauthor ,
    rulehelp , WSIL-App
Still i am getting the following error which is related to step 2. Entry in the step 2 & oc4j-ra.xml is the same i.2
    ""eis/Ftp/FtpAdapter"
An unhandled exception has been thrown in the ESB system. The exception reported

likely that either 1) the Resource Adapters RAR file has not been deployed
successfully to the OC4J Application server or 2) the 'location' attribute in
    $J2EE_HOME/application-deployments/default/deployed-adapter-name/oc4j-ra.xml has

  • Cannot create Oracle model MS SQL 7 - Oracle 8.1.6

Have MS SQL Server 7.0 and Oracle 8.1.6 running on same NT server. The SQL Server 7.0 Source Model is created with no problems - I can see each table and its owner (always dbo). When creating the Oracle model the tables from the MASTER database are loaded OK but when the user tables start every one fails. Error messages such as:
OracleModelImpl_insertObjInfo() java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into... [I cannot see to the end of this line]
tbl_Batch_Prints: Table. Owner name is NULL. Check that SQL Server 7.0 MASTER database is correctly rec... [that's all i can see]
EXCEPTION: SQLServer7SourceModelMap.mapTables(): tbl_Batch_Prints, oracle.mtg.migration.MigrationS... [end of visible error message]
Where do I start to get this working?
    Thanks, Scott Doughty

Very helpful! "exec sp_changedbowner 'sa'" did the trick. Almost... I can now start generating the Oracle model and just about everything gets mapped apart from some roles, triggers and stored procedures until the log window reads:
[Timestamp] Mapping Roles mapped: 7, Roles NOT Mapped: 3
    [Timestamp] Mapping Mapping User Privileges
[Timestamp] Mapping mapped user privilege :
[Timestamp] Mapping mapped user privilege :
[Timestamp] Mapping mapped user privilege :
and then the screen hangs. It's been a few hours now and NT is showing no activity on any of the Oracle processes. Do I just need to be more patient, or has something gone wrong?
