SQL upgarde

Hello All Experts,
I want one suggestion, currently we are using sql 2005 with sap b1 2005.
Now we are going to upgrade database from sql 2005 to sql server 2008.
So i want to know that if i migrate to sql 2008 then sap b1 2005 will support sql 2008 or not?
Kindly guide me.

Hi,
SQL 2008 can' be used to run SAP B1 2005. You must use at least SAP B1 2007A SP 00 PL47 or SAP B1 2007B PL10.
See the b1 platform website:

    Hi Scott
The Hyperlinks are not getting generated...after using HTF.ANCHOR and was working fine with 1.5 after upgarding to 1.6 its just showing the <A href> as it is without the hyperlink.
The first one i was trying in the SQL workshop and the second one is 'm using in the code itself.
'm not able to c the hyperlinks at runtime
    its showing it as

  • Errors while upgrading from 9i to 11gR1 during catuprd.sql

    Hi,
I am very new into the world of databases and am learning it the hard way. Testing all sorts of work on my home PC. I am in the process of upgrading my Win 32 9.2.0.8 to 11gR1 and am at the stage of running catupgrd.sql. The SQL ran for hours and completed. However, when i go to the second step as per Oracle upgrade guide- that is running utl111s.sql, i get the following errors.
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-04045: errors during recompilation/revalidation of SYS.DBMS_REGISTRY_SYS
ORA-04098: trigger 'SYS.CDC_ALTER_CTABLE_BEFORE' is invalid and failed

ORA-04098: trigger 'SYS.CDC_ALTER_CTABLE_BEFORE' is invalid and failed
    re-validation
The log file for catupgrd shows several instances of the following errors
ORA-29537: class or resource cannot be created or dropped directly
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.INITJVMAUX", line 32
    ORA-06512: at line 37

    . ORA-06512: at line 3
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-20000: JServer has not been correctly loaded into the database.
    ORA-06512: at line 3
I tried running utlrp.sql to compile all invalid objects but, that too gave the trigger error mentioned above. I had fixed all the warnings pointed out by the pre-upgrade script.
I also tried disabling the trigger and running utlrp.sql, but it was of no use.
Any pointers in this regard will be welcome.
    Thanks,
    Jithin

Srini, This is a play instance, and I have VM snapshots as well as backups of the database at various stages of the upgrade process.
I tried to load JAVA manually into the db by following Metalink Note 457279.1. I ran the full_rmjvm.sql and it errored out in the catnojav.sql saying "ORA-20000: JServer is not operational in the database; JServer is required to remove CATJAVA from the database."
So, looks like I'm trying to remove JVM with no JServer operational .
My Catupgrd.sql log said two things that I now noticed
    JServer JAVA Virtual Machine
. ORA-29537: class or resource cannot be created or dropped directly
    . ORA-06512: at "SYS.INITJVMAUX", line 32
    . ORA-06512: at line 37
    . UPGRADING 9.2.0.8.0 00:16:38
    and
    Oracle Database Java Packages
. ORA-20000: JServer has not been correctly loaded into the database.
    . ORA-06512: at line 3
    . LOADING 9.2.0.8.0 00:00:11
All the other components are shown to have version 11.1.0.6.0
So I guess the error is in 9i itself? JAVA, or one of its needed components, was not installed correctly in the 9i database. I have the VM snapshots so I could go back in time a bit and do some R&D. What do you suggest?
PS: I spend 9-6 at office tuning the SQL and then 8-2 at home fixing this upgarde. It has sure go me hooked. I even let go the IPL for this. Hoping to wrap up the upgrade by sunday.
    Thanks,
    Jithin

  • Database settings in SQL server

    Hi,
Please provide SAP's recommendations for Database Settings when upgarding to BPC 7
1.Compatibility Level. Should it be (80) or (100)?
    Compatibility Level of 80 = SQL 2000
    Compatibility Level of 90 = SQL 2005
    Compatibility Level of 100 = SQL 2008
    2. Recovery Model (Simple or Full)
    Thanks.
    Raghu

    Hi Raghu,
    For 7.0
SQL Server 2000 is not supported
Compatibility Level of 90 = SQL 2005 if you are using SQL Server 2005
Compatibility Level of 100 = SQL 2008 if you are using SQL Server 2008
    Recovery Model
It is depending by the disaster recovery model which customer would like to implement.
If for the customer lossing data for last 24 hours is an accepted then you can use SINGLE
If for the customer the data lost can be in maximum X hours (X< 24)  then you have to use FULL.(and you have to implement
the backup maintenance plan according with this requirement).

    You can go for free
SQl Server 2014 evaluation edition. It has enterprise features and can be used for 180 days after that you have to upgrade it to licensed version.
You cannot upgrade from SQl server 2012 to 2014 evaluation edition by inplace upgarde you need to do side by side upgrade. Backup database on 2012 and restore it on 2014 move logins and jobs and other objects by taking out script and running in SQL Server

  • Upgrade SBO-COMMOM SQL -  unable to connect to database

    Dear Experts,
    I'm trying to upgarde from SAP 2007 A PL-42  to  PL-49.
I have currently got SQL2000 (for legend system) running under the instance name SERVER and i have installed SQL2005 (SAP uses this) with the instance name SERVER\SQL2005, both running on the same machine called SERVER.
When i try to upgrade the SBO-COMMON database, it installs the DI and reaches a point where it asks for:-
    Database Server:-              (I input SERVER\SQL2005)
    Database Name:-              (SBO-COMMON)
    User Name:-                     (sa)
    Password:-                      (password)
When i click the NEXT button, i get the error "unable to connect to database; verify that database TCP/IP port serice is started."
I have verified that the TCP/IP ie enabled, and running on port 1433.
    Addidtional Information:
During installation, it tries to access c:\windows\system32\sqljdbc_auth.dll file, when i click the NEXT button, just before i get the TCP/IP error.

  • Upgrade from SQL server developer 2008 R2 to SQL Server developer 2012

    Hi,
We have bought 5 licenses of SQL server developer 2012.
This licenses provided us an option to use SQL server 2008 R2. And we have been using 2008 R2 till now.
But now we want to upgrade to SQL server developer 2012 edition
I want to know the process for up-gradation. When I looked at the licensing portal, it says "This product does not require a product key"
    My questions are:
    1) Should I download the 2012 version from licensing center and pass the downloaded copy to respective team members?
    2) Can the team member download the SQL server 2012 developer edition from Microsoft site and install it on their machines?
    3) Do we need to first un-install 2008 R2?
    4) How the licensing can be managed in cases of products which say "This product does not require a product key.", i.e. how can I make sure that no more than 5 installations are done by the team
    Thanks

    1. Developer edition has license associated with it .And yes you can download it if you have subscription. But please be informed that you cannot use Developer edition in production, its not allowed and illegal.
2.You can upgarde from SQL server 2008 R2 to 2012 developer edition by Inplace upgrade method ,you can also follow side by side approach. For side by side approach you have to get new box ,intall OS,then install SQL server 2012 ,move logins and jobs and move
databases by backup restore. You must see supported upgrades
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143393(v=sql.110).aspx
3.No not ins any case ,please dont do that
4.Licensing question should best be asked with Microsoft licensing expert.
reg process of upgarde first run upgrade advisor and look for error if any. Then run SQL server 2012  setup and in maintenance section select edition upgrade, other process is same as SQL Server installtion

  • SQL 2000 AND SQL 2005 ON THE SAME SERVER

    Hi all ,
    I have an installation of    SAP4.7SR1 /MSSQL2000 on a windows 2003 server.
I want to install SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 4.0 /MSSQL2005 on the same server ... it is possible that two version of SQL ( 2000 and 2005 ) coexists on the same server ? It's sufficent to install SQL into two different directory ?
    Thank's a lot.
    Antonio Voce.

    Hi,
yes it is possible to install SQL2000 and SQL2005 on same server but there are certain special considerations that you should be aware of
    look at following blog
    http://blogs.msdn.com/sqlblog/archive/2006/09/27/co-existence-of-sql-2005-with-sql-2000.aspx
    also look http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143694.aspx
but in case of SAP Installation i prefered that to upgarde SQL2000 to SQL2005  then install solman 4.0

  • Where is the developer version of SQL 2012

    Hi,
This seems to have been asked a lot but I can't find a definitive answer.
I purchased a copy of SQL2008R2 (Developer) from Amazon a few years ago and I would like to upgrade it to 2012.  Looking on
MS sites it appears that there is only; Express, Standard and Enterprise versions available now.
However on my work PC I have a 2012 developer edition which was downloaded via an MSDN subscription.
So, where does a private individual buy/upgrade their copy?

    Hello,
To upgrade SQL Server developer to 2012 developer you need to do inplace upgrade.
    1. You need to buy valid copy of SQL Server 2012 developer edition ,link given by Uri will be helpful
2.You need to patch your SQL server 2008 r2 to SP1/Sp2 to upgrade.RTM upgrade is not suported.
3 Run upgarde advisor to see if any issues will occur during upgrade
    3. You need to run SQL Server 2012 developer setup.exe file as administrator and when installation window appears you need to select maintenance on that page you need to select Edition upgrade.
Below link will help you.Its upgrade about trial edition but same applies to developer as well.

  • Change the Schema in Sql 2005

    Hello Experts,
We have refreshed our QAS system from PRD (abap + java) system. The schema on the system is MCOD (IE SID). Although the database has come up, but in SAP we are not able to access the schema because the schema currently belongs to PRD system.
I have looked at OSS note 551915 but this script is valid for Sql 2000. We have Sql 2005.
Also, I have looked at a couple of scripts but that have not worked on our scenario to convert the scema.
Can anyone share and paste the Alter schema script to convert all the tables both for (SAPPRDDB and PRD) ?
    Please Help!
    Thanks,
    Antarpreet

    Hello Antarpreet,
Please suggest if I am wrong:
u have refreshed QAS from PRD and now the schema owner of QAS is SID of PRD and you want to change this to SID of QAS
Well then in that case you will need to perfrom schema conversion using SQL tools mentioned in the note I have given to you,I assure your issues will get resolved,we have been doing it a lot in our setup and have no issues,we also have schema systems
Also note 551915 also says this- to perform schema upgarde using SQL tools
Also what makes you say that the scripts mentioned in the note are for SQL server 2000,it is no where mentioned
But I strongly suggest you to go for SQL tools, even if it does no gud to your system(which is a remotest possibility),it will not do any harm....

  • Upgarding 10g database to 11g

I have created 10g database in Linux .
Now I want to upgrade it to 11g.
I have installed 11g software in my Linux machine .
I logged in as sysdba and then I did shut down the 10g db . Later I started it up in upgarde mode and tried running catupgrd.sql.
But I got the error as ORA-01722: invalid number
When I looked into catupgrd.sql script I found this information
The following statement will cause an "ORA-01722: invalid number"
error if the database server version is not correct for this script.Shutdown ABORT and use a different script or a different server.
    SELECT TO_NUMBER('MUST_BE_11_1') FROM v$instance
    WHERE substr(version,1,6) != '11.1.0';
So I checked the columns of v$instance
    SQL> select instance_name,HOST_NAME,VERSION,STATUS,DATABASE_STATUS,ACTIVE_STATE from v$instance;
    INSTANCE_NAME HOST_NAME VERSION STATUS DATABASE_STATUS ACTIVE_ST
    learn11 ap6108rt 10.2.0.1.0 OPEN MIGRATE ACTIVE NORMAL
What should be done to change the version ?

Later I started it up in upgarde mode and trUsing which home? 10g or 11g?
Is the database still in 10g home?

  • SQL 2005 Workgroup Edition

Hi Guys ... a client asked me if Workgroup edition of SQL Server 2005 would be ok to use instead of Standard. It seems to have most of the functionality of Standard except a memory limitation (http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinfo/features/compare-features.mspx) but if they had enough traffic they could always upgarde to Standard later. Any ideas if there is something missing from Workgroup that's needed?
    Thanks

Workgroup edition works fine for running the software
the only 2 nice to haves for managing the database are not there
DTS - For a quick way to import and export data directly to tables
    and
Index Query Wizard - for improving performance
but neither of those are required for general operation of the product.

  • Upgrade the Edition for SQL Server 2012

    Hi All,
After spending 3hrs on the phone to MS in India I'm trying here as a last resort!
I'm trying to upgarde my SQL server 2012 Developer version from Evaluation to a full copy. I've been told that my Product key (Note I do not have a Product ID) is legit from the front line support.
However when I run hte SQL Server Installation Center (as an Administrator) I go to the following:
    Maintenance
    Edition upgrade
    Pass first validation
Then enter in the Product Key and I get the following back in SQL:
"There are validation errors on this page. Click OK to Close this dialog box. Review Errors at the bottom of the setup page, then provide valid parameters or click help for more information".
I can only click on OK and then I'm left with either Next (same thing happens) or Cancel (which halts the full installation) finally help (which is useless).
Any help and ideas greatly appreciated!!!
    Gavin

    Hello,
Make sure the product language of the SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition is the same of the Evaluation Edition you have
installed. If they have different product language, you may receive the "There are validation errors on this page" error message.
For more information, please read the following resource:

    Hope this helps.
