Sqldatasource, select command unexpected behaviour on query

Hello,
I have VS 2005 working with .net framework 2, ODAC 10.2.0.2.21 , oracle 8i database. I developed a simple asp.net page with a text box
a button and a grid view to display results. I started using the microsoft class System.Data.OracleClient everything went fine the query i used was:
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionString %>"
ProviderName="System.Data.OracleClient" SelectCommand="*SELECT NIF,NISS,DESIG,MORADA,LOCAL,CPOST||'-'||CPOST1 FROM AG_TAB_ENT where upper(desig) like '%'||upper(to_char(:parte))||'%'*">
<SelectParameters>
<asp:ControlParameter ControlID="TextBox1" Name="parte" PropertyName="Text" Type="String" />
</SelectParameters>
</asp:SqlDataSource>
it gave me the results i wanted and filtered them correctly.
Problem was when i used Oracle.DataAccess.Client changing the above code to:
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionString %>"
ProviderName="Oracle.DataAccess.Client" SelectCommand="SELECT NIF,NISS,DESIG,MORADA,LOCAL,CPOST||'-'||CPOST1 FROM AG_TAB_ENT where upper(desig) like '%'||upper(to_char(:parte))||'%'">
<SelectParameters>
<asp:ControlParameter ControlID="TextBox1" Name="parte" PropertyName="Text" Type="String" />
</SelectParameters>
</asp:SqlDataSource>
It displayied all the results of the table AG_TAB_ENT ignoring the where clause.
Have tried with no success several aproaches. Would apreciate help.
best regards,
Paulo

Hi Rittick,
I have made some modifications to the example program ex_sql_multi_thread.c,
based on the information you sent in email. So far I can not reproduce the
problem either. This does look like something we have seen before:
Berkeley DB lost data sometimes when I ran the example ex_sql_multi_thread
but it is difficult to pinpoint without an exact reproducer. One thought is
if you can try the application with the latest Berkeley DB release which
is: 5.3.15. Some race conditions were fixed in that release and since you can
reproduce the behavior with 5.1 and 5.2 you should be able to verify if
it is present or not in 5.3.15.
Thanks,
Sandra

    I have a datalist with a selectedcommand , but i want to change it at runtime ( i have a dropdownlist and want to search based upon the values of dropdownlist) , I used this in button click event:
    if (DropDownList1.Text=="blabla")
                this.SqlDataSource1.SelectCommand = "SELECT prodID,[Prodname], [Price], [ProdCode], [Weights], [Size], [Photo] FROM [Products] where Cat='ct1' and Price<10000 ";
                this.SqlDataSource1.DataBind();

    but it doesn't work for me . any ideas ?

    Hi,
    Try the below code.
    if (DropDownList1.Text == "blabla")
    SqlDataSource SqlDataSource1 = new SqlDataSource();
    SqlDataSource1.SelectCommand = "SELECT prodID, [Prodname], [Price], [ProdCode], [Weights], [Size], [Photo] FROM [Products] where Cat='@cat' and Price < @price";
    SqlDataSource1.SelectParameters.Clear();
    SqlDataSource1.SelectParameters.Add("cat", TypeCode.Int32, "1");
    SqlDataSource1.SelectParameters.Add("price", TypeCode.Decimal, "1");
    //your connection string from web.config
    SqlDataSource1.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectString"].ConnectionString;
    DataList1.DataSource = SqlDataSource1;
    DataList1.DataBind();

    But catalog doesn´t exist in test enviroment, only development! solution is delete this:
    @Entity
    @Table(name = "fontestatus")

  • Command the execute sql query and does not clean up data in Table

    Hi Team
    I have an SP, which writes source and target data to Temp Tables and runs except query to get mismatch details
    I am using Exec command to execute source query that writes data to Temp Table, once I execute query using Exec, data is written and immediately #temp table is cleaned, now I cannot use #temp table for comparition.
    Is there any way to execute sql query in SP without using EXEC and will hold the data in temp table.

    You need to create temp table before EXEC statement and rewrite your dynamic query also as below
    declare @source_Sql nvarchar(1000)
    ,@target_Sql nvarchar(1000)
    create table #TempTable1 (name nvarchar(10))
    create table #TempTable2 (name nvarchar(10))
    set @source_Sql = 'INSERT INTO #TempTable1 SELECT [Name] from Employee'
    set @target_Sql = 'INSERT INTO #TempTable2 SELECT [Name] from Employee2'
    EXEC (@source_Sql)
    EXEC (@target_Sql)
    select * from #TempTable1
     Except
    select * from #TempTable2

  • Using a VARCHAR2 in a SELECT command

    I'm trying to query for a given path in a hierarchy of products. However, I want to be able to have it return multiple values. So, I created a string in my function below that returns identifiers like "(34, 43, 54)" to be used in a SELECT IN. The function works fine, but the select command fails. How can I get the SELECT to work?

    (301152, 301202, 301252, 301302, 301403)

    Your function is effectively returning a single string, which is not automatically devived into individual tokens for using in the IN clause.
    How to circumvent this is best described here:

  • Long select command

    hey, I have a real long select command and it goes down to the next row of my sql*plus. when i try to perform it it says the from statement is in the wrong spot but its just getting confused. how do i fix this?

    Just manually edit the query and add adequate line feeds. That would make the query readable too.

  • Select command for 2 dimensions

    Hi All,
    Can we use Select command for query from 2 dimensions ?
    or how to do the query using script logic ??
    any suggession ??
    Here's the expand parameters :
    ROW                     ROW
    OTHERDTLS     PROCESS
    BASMEMBERS     BASMEMBERS AND FSG <> ""

    More detail is needed.  This is for BPC and which version?
    - Are you trying to USE script logic to "SELECT" 2 sets of data for use in a logic statement?
    - Or are you trying to build a report that will NEST 2 sets of ROW data?
    Any other details would be helpful so we get a clear picture of the question

  • Select Command taking a lot of time to execute

    Dear Experts,
    My below SELECT command taking a lot of time to execute.
          SELECT wid
                       matl_desc
                       INTO TABLE open_wid FROM zwb_table
                       WHERE ( weight2 = 0 OR weight2 IS NULL ).
    Table : zwb_table contains around 7 Lacs records. That's why taking a lot of time . I have also Indexed the table zwb_table with field WID & WEIGHT2 . (zwb_table contains only WID as Primary Key Field)
    Structure of Internal Table : open_wid ->
                                             wid LIKE zwb_table-wid,
                                             matl_desc LIKE zwb_table-matl_desc,
    Please suggest me how to Improve the Performance of the above Select command.
    Thanks in Advance
    JACK

    Hi Jack,
    you are having morethan 7lack records in z table. it is not good practice fetching all the records into internal table and restricting with where clause in loop statement.
    I hope you already created secondary index combination of primary key.
    check you select query fetching records based on index you have created in ST05.
    Refer below link for your program is using index that you have created.

  • Populate a select list based on sql query

    I need to populate a select list using an sql query based on the value value I get from the previous page sent using link . How can I achieve this behaviour ? I tried giving select app_item_id a,app_item_id b from app_item_definition where app_id = :P11_APP_TDL_ID order by 1 in LOV, but it doesn't work . Please advice .

    Okay, I just had the right idea and it's working well! Sorry for posting!
    I return the name of the employee that has edited a dataset and simply add all others of the logged on department! Really easy! Should have thought of that before posting! ;-(
    The correct code is select str_bearbeiter, cnt_bearbeiter from vt_tbl_bearbeiter a, vt_tbl_punktdaten b where a.cnt_bearbeiter = b.int_bearbeiter and

  • Unexpected behaviour upon pressing the 'Enter' key on dialog screen

    Hi.
    I have two dialog screens that exhibit unexpected behaviour when i pressed the 'Enter' key.
    Screen 1: When I pressed the 'Enter' key, the focus shifted to another input field and the content of the previous input field is cleared. The thing is, I did not have any codes in PAI for 'Enter'. Why is this happening?
    Screen 2: On load, some of the fields on this screen will be disabled. However, when I pressed the 'Enter' key, all the disabled fields become enabled. Again, I did not have any codes that handle the 'Enter' key in PAI. Why is this happening?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Atish.
    Yes, I have used CHAIN... END CHAIN.
    I thought that CHAIN... END CHAIN allows my input fields to be re-activated after an error message is displayed.
    How would CHAIN... END CHAIN cause the unexpected behaviour?
    Thanks.

  • Cannot acces to the selection criteria of a local query in web browser

    We cannot access to the selection criteria of a local query in using the web browser
    It seems this issue is already known, a local query created with BW release 7 cannot be used with the web browser.
    But this is a blocking issue in our case because we cannot create another local query in using BW 3.X and if we are using the analyser with RRMX and Excel we cannot displayed more of 65000 rows due to Analyser R3.X or R7.
    That's why we want to use the web browser because we can export the extraction from the intranet in MS Excel 2007 without limitation of rows.
    Thanks in advance to find a solution asap

    Hi Mustafa,
    I checked your requirement but it is not possible to display first value as default value for a drop down list because the list will be generate when you click the drop down list. You can use a 'list box' instead of drop down list.
