SQLDEV 2.1.0.63 gives ORA-904 on UT_TEST_RESULTS when running unit test
Hi, I am trying to create and run my first unit test using sqldeveloper 2.1.0.63 but it fails with followkng error:
----- Error Stack Dump -----
ORA-00904: "TEST_USER_NAME": invalid identifier
----- Current SQL Statement for this session (sql_id=b9c4zd8fqmykv) -----
select utr_id, name, status, message, run_date,coverage,test_user_name from ut_test_results where ut_id = :ID order by run_date desc
table ut_test_results indeed does not have this column test_user_name:
SYS@madlnlcs11/map SQL> DESC UT_SP5.UT_TEST_RESULTS
Name Null? Type
UTR_ID NOT NULL VARCHAR2(40)
UT_ID NOT NULL VARCHAR2(40)
NAME NOT NULL VARCHAR2(120)
STATUS NOT NULL VARCHAR2(20)
MESSAGE VARCHAR2(2000)
COVERAGE NOT NULL NUMBER(1)
RUN_DATE NOT NULL TIMESTAMP(6)
CREATED_ON NOT NULL TIMESTAMP(6)
CREATED_BY NOT NULL VARCHAR2(120)
UPDATED_ON NOT NULL TIMESTAMP(6)
UPDATED_BY NOT NULL VARCHAR2(120)
how come there's this mismatch? The Unitest repository was created by the same sqldeveloper !
regards,
Andre
This seems to be coming from the repository being marked as Shared repository. Appearantly sqldeveloper is issueing a different query, referencing TEST_USER_NAME, in that case. After I did a DESELECT AS SHARED REPOSITORY and drop/recreate of the repository the error ORA-904 no longer occurs.

ORA-01031: insufficient privileges when running adgrants_nt PATCH 6510214
Hi all,
I need to clone an Oracle Applications R12 from production to development, so for that I am using Metalink document ID 406982.1 (C;loning Oracle Applications Release 12 with Rapid Clone).
In the document, the step 3 is to "Apply the latest AD patch" and the things get hotter here, since when trying to apply the patch, the pre req is to run the script adgrants_nt.sql, it returns an error (ORA-01031: insufficient privileges) and aborts.
After some searching in google and metalink and OTN forums, the solution was to create an ora_dba group and add the user to that group and set sqlnet.ora to use NTS. I did all that and the error does not go away.
so, what can I do to complete the clone process?
thank you very much,
Hassane Cabirhi Hassane;
I need to clone an Oracle Applications R12 from production to development, so for that I am using Metalink document ID 406982.1 (C;loning Oracle Applications Release 12 with Rapid Clone).If your release 12.0.6 then i belive you can pass AD patch part
In the document, the step 3 is to "Apply the latest AD patch" and the things get hotter here, since when trying to apply the patch, the pre req is to run the script adgrants_nt.sql, it returns an error (ORA-01031: insufficient privileges) and aborts.You try to apply this patch your production, so then be sure patch folder has r/w permisson to your application user(for instance applmgr) then try again please
After some searching in google and metalink and OTN forums, the solution was to create an ora_dba group and add the user to that group and set sqlnet.ora to use NTS. I did all that and the error does not go away.You dont need to create one other group,issue is:
su - applmgr(your apps user)
id
uid=1002(oracle) gid=1010(dba)
it gives you your user's group (for instance dba,install etc)
then issue chown -R applmgr:dba /u01.......(your patch location)
I suggest change your entery on sqlnet.ora file

SQLDev 4.0 EA1 error ORA-904 "SP"."CHILD_ADDRESS" invalid identifier.
Recieve error ORA-904 "SP"."CHILD_ADDRESS" invalid identifier when accessing the Explain Plan tab in Session Monitor. Client in Win 7 64 bit, DB is Oracle 10.1.
This behavior still exists with 4 EA3.Copy the monitor sessions report down to a user defined report, check out the SQL being used in the Explain Plan tab, and try running that in your 10.1.0.5 database. We don't support that version of the database, but you can change up the sql in your user defined report to work for that instance if necessary.

i have a function "FA" in schema "A". i gave a grant (execute) to a role "rleA". In another schema "B" i created other procedure "PB" accessing function created before "FA" and gave grant by role "rleA" to schema "B". In this case, raise the error ora-904 in line where "FA" is. If i execute the line error without a plsql block, it works or if i give grant direct to "B" it works too (in plsql).
anybody help ?I am facing the same problem. I am using Oracle Database 10g Express Edition.
If any one has the solution please share it .

Senior Oracle DBAMy copy of sqldeveloper isn't located in that directory. Would that matter?
In the mean time I have disabled filtering the tables node. Opening the tables node doesn't result in exceptions anymore.
Now, when I click on any table in that node I get 4 identical ora-904 error messages for sys.o.name for any table.
Apparently it is querying either the all_objects view and it thinks it is querying sys.obj$.
I didn't yet enable sql_trace for the session, I'm more or less giving up on sqldeveloper. I can not use the space bar in any datagrid, sqldeveloper has always been extreemly unresponsive when navigating the schema browser (as opposed to Toad), etc, etc. Too bad I bought Sue Harpers book, but I think I will be de-installing sqldeveloper soon.

Select username from dba_users logged as sys gives
ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocal error.

Any treatment ideas are greatly appreciated.

Hello Forum,
when I enter an SQL which generates an ORA-904, the error message looks somewhat weird with german locale:
-- First with AMERICAN setting:
alter session set nls_language='AMERICAN';
select a from dual;
alter session set succeeded.
Error starting at line 2 in command:
select a from dual
Error at Command Line:2 Column:7
Error report:
SQL Error: ORA-00904: "A": invalid identifier
00904. 00000 - "%s: invalid identifier"
*Cause:
*Action:
-- And now with GERMAN setting:
alter session set nls_language='GERMAN';
select a from dual;
alter session set succeeded.
Error starting at line 4 in command:
select a from dual
Error at Command Line:4 Column:7
Error report:
SQL Error: ORA-00904: Ungültiger Spaltenname
00904. 00000 - "%s: invalid identifier"
*Cause:
*Action:
As you can see, the name of the invalid column is not displayed when nls_language="GERMAN".
Maybe the second line '00904. 00000 - "%s: invalid identifier"' results from having a german Windows XP.
I don't know how it looks on english Windows or how it should look like. :-)
I run SQLDeveloper on XP Pro and Oracle 9.2 (on W2k).
Regards,
dhalekdhalek,
If you take a closer look, the 00904. 00000 - "%s: invalid identifier" line is present in both languages - it's something that gets always appended.
As for the German message SQL Error: ORA-00904: Ungültiger Spaltenname, you see it's lacking any reference to the column. The German translator apparently let that slip out. If the substitution parameter was there, but unsubstituted for some reason, it would look like SQL Error: ORA-00904: "": Ungültiger Spaltenname.
You can contact Oracle through Metalink if you want this to get sorted out...

EA1 - Export result of query to clipboard gives ORA-00904 error
I ran the following SQL in a SQL Developer worksheet:
create table EXTCHAR_TEST (TEST_COL VARCHAR2(2000));

insert into EXTCHAR_TEST(TEST_COL) values ('(UTF-8) ŁłŃńŅņŇňʼnŊŋŌōŎŏŐőŒœŔŕŖŗŘřŚ');

select TEST_COL, DUMP(TEST_COL,1016) from EXTCHAR_TEST;
I then tried to right-click on the results and export them as CSV to the clipboard. Whenever I try this (possibly other ways too, I haven't tried) I get this error:

Edited by: gclough on Sep 28, 2009 4:03 PMHi Barry,
I think I'm using the latest "EA1" version, which I downloaded from here:
[http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/sql/index21_EA1.html]
I have just confirmed using the sample script, that the problem still exists. I was connected to a v9.2.0.5.0 database... if that makes any difference.
* Run SQL
* Right-Click on results
* Export Data -> csv...
* Clipboard
* Click "Apply"
* Error... :-(

Error ora-604 ora-904 invalid column name
Someone knows how to fix this problem?
Error ora-604 ora-904 invalid column name.Asif, to add another question to the list of things to check. Is the version of the exp utility you are using to perform the export operation the same version as the database? If not, that would explain the error.
If you are trying to export using a newer version of the export utility that generally will not work. You should switch to using the db version.
If you are exporting using an older version because the target is an older version then usually you need to run the catexp# where # is the version number script for the target version that Oracle provides in the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin directory.

Alter system kill session always gives ORA-00030
Hello
Im writing a tool for oracle and one of its features requires killing user session (Im connecting with JDBC). The database Im testing on is 11.2.0.2.
I find the sid and the serial# without problems, than I issue the "alter system kill session 'x,y' immediate" command.
So far so good, but I always get an ORA-00030 error saying this session cannot be found.
I double check and the session does exist in the database.
Because I want the tool to make the kill, killing via the OS is not an option.
Its doesn't look like a permission problem because it gives the same error even when connected as system.
Whats wrong ? does this kill command work at all ? Whats its limitations ?
Thanks

Gives ORA-12560: TNS: protocol adapter error when installing oracle 10g
I tried to install oracle 10g r2 in server 2008. but it gives ORA-12560: TNS: protocol adapter error when installing. how I can fix this issue??? please help me ASAP. because its urgent.
thanks in advance.
chamaraWelcome to the forums !
Pl indicate which version of 10g you are installing and on which version of Win 2008. Neither 10gR1 nor 10gR2 are certified to be installed on Win 2008 R1, AFAIK.
For 10gR2, only 10.2.0.5 is certified for Win 2008 R2 - see MOS Doc 1173433.1 (How to Install Oracle 10.2.0.5 on MS Windows 7 / Windows 2008R2)
Also see MOS Doc 740926.1 (Where can I find the Database / Client software to download for Microsoft Vista, or Windows 2008R1?).
Both 10gR1 and 10gR2 are now in extended support - is there a reason you are not using 11gR2 ?

Fine Grain Access Control gives ORA-02014
Using Fine Grain Access Control on Oracle 8i 8.1.6, when a policy is enabled on a table then queries of the form "select * from table for update nowait" give "ORA-02014 cannot select FOR UPDATE from view with DISTINCT, GROUP BY, etc.".
Similar queries without the "for update nowait" work OK.
Does anyone have a fix or workaround?
nullI ran into this. If you're using a function to add to/add a where clause to your statement, when the where clause gets appended to the end and generates an error. You should be seeing trace files in the udump area of oracle that show you the actual sql line that is being created in error. I modified my function to add the FOR UPDATE NOWAIT in the correct place.

EA3 Why does unit test end with ORA-00904
Database version
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options
SQL Developer version
Oracle IDE 4.0.0.12.27
Java(TM) Platform 1.7.0_25
Error message:
An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
ORA-00904: : ugyldig identifikator
00904. 00000 - "%s: invalid identifier"
*Cause:
*Action:
Vendor code 904
Whenever I go into the "Unit Test" modules, create a "Suite," and then click on that Suite, I get the error message.
I get that same error when pulling up a unit test. I am able to run the unit test, it completes successfully, but I also get that same error mentioned above.
The test is calling a simple pl/sql function (returning Hello World). The finction is in the same schema as the user running the test.
Is this is a known bug?

I've called AppleCare repeatedly for a solutiuon, but I haven't gotten an answer yet and like you above I removed just about anything I could think of. I'd like to start considering third party apps we might have installed that maybe to blame.
Why? Because I installed a fresh copy of Lion onto a Class 10 SD card and then later I turned on full disk encryption there. I no longer experienced the problem after I booted from that card.
I also experienced a problem with full disk encryption with my 2010 MacBook Air sitting doing nothing at the encryption login screen. It spontaneously restarted three times before I turned it off. Later I moved to a 2011 model and did not see the spontaneously restarts again.
Now I'm stuck with this annoying double login.
