SqlDeveloper View/Files menuItem freezes the View window

I have installed SQLDeveloper ver 3.1.07 on a Win7 64-bit OS. But I cannot get the View/Files window to work. As soon as I try to drill down a folder it hangs ny showing a child node saying "loading...". This also screws up my Connections window so that I no longer can view or open Connections. (if I try to open the root node for a Connection I get the same child node saying "loading..." with nothing more happening). It seems like the View window gets corrupt or crashes every time I try to view Files.
I have tried with installing and referencing (in the sqldeveloper.conf file SetJavHome) both JDK1.6 (build 11 and 32) and JDK1.7 (build 3) but nothing helps. Has anyone encountered this? It works fine on my old 32 bit machine (sqlDev 3.0.04 and JDK 1.6.11)

Does your new machine include an install of some SVN client software? There might be an incompatibility with the SVN included in SQL Developer:

If that's the case, either disable this capability in SQL Developer or install a new SVN client version that does not conflict.

Make my files move with the Finder window?

I don't know how many of you are familiar with Windows, but in Windows Explorer, whenever you changed the size of the window you were viewing your files in, the files would move with the size of the window while still staying in the same order. When I resize a window in the Finder, my files stay in the exact same position they were before. They don't move with the window. Does anybody know a way to change this?

Actually, it is possible, but it depends on what view style (Icon, List, Column View, etc.) and what view options are set.
From your description, I assume you're referring to a Windows window that was in Icon view, such as the Control Panels window (when viewed in Classic Mode, that is).
You can do this in a Finder window if you switch to Icon view, choose View > Show View Options, and then change the "Arrange by" popup button to something other than None or Snap to Grid. For example, choose Name (how the Control Panels' window would be sorted), and then when you resize the window, the items will be "redistributed" in rows from left to right accordingly.
When you said "When I resize a window in the Finder, my files stay in the exact same position they were before.", that corresponds to the Arrange by setting of "None". This choice provides a way to arrange items in a "spatial" manner. For example, on your Windows Desktop, you might have put your Recycle Bin icon in the lower left, Computer icon at location X, Y, etc. In this particular mode, the location of the item is considered "important" and it won't be moved just because you made the window larger or smaller.
The "Snap to Grid" is the same as the None (spatial), except that when you explicitly drag and drop an item to position it, it is automatically aligned into the nearest grid "cell" (row and column combination).

CSV file downloading replaces the parent window

I'm able to download the file in all the browsers, But while using IPAD the content of the file replaces the existing window (Parent Window) without asking for Save or Open option. So i'm unable to get the parent window again.
Please let me know is there any special content type or anythinmg else i have to change.. So that i could be able to open the csv file in a new tab without replacing the parent window.The problem i faced only with IPAD

For pdf file if we choose adhoc or by giving the proper name, we can able to get the options like OPEN or SAVE. This will work fine for pdf.
But here im trying with csv file /html file, so the file is replacing the existing screen itself when i click the csv link. In my web application, i cannot get the parent window by using back button once i get the csv file instead page gets expired.
So my best suggestion is should we able to open the csv file in new Tab of safari instead of replacing the parent window where im clicking to open the csv file.
Suggestions pls.

Arabic file name in the dowload-window

the code is working fine if the file name has only english or alphanumeric data , in case the file name is arabic , the download window displays a wrong file name.

This guide has a chapter that covers all the File and Folder methods and properties. Read it. This would give you a great overview of what you can do with Files and Folders

In the past, the downloaded file used to stay in the download window. all i had to do was click on it to open it. now, when the download is complete, the loaded file disappears from the download window. how do i get it to stay, as before?

You can not run executable files from the download dialog, this is a security measure.
If you want to bypass this security measure you can use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/207/ OpenDownload] add-on. This add-on has not been updated for a couple of years, but somebody has made a newer version, also called [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10902/ OpenDownload], but this version has not yet been reviewed by Mozilla.

How Do I freeze(pause)a midi file and freeze the virtual keyboard too?

Whenever i pause a song of a midi(that i shove into Garageband),
the thing stops playing and the notes Shows in the Virtual Keyboard also stop but they disappear.
I want to pause and see the paused notes on the keyboard too so that i can learn the chord or notes at any point in time.
The only way i've been able to do this is take A MOvie capture of the Virtual Keyboard as it plays a track so i can see the notes. And then i open the movie in Quicktime and in Quicktime the video pauses and you can see the current notes played cause they light up in GB.
I would like to pause the Light up notes of the Virtual Keyboard but without having to make a video capture. I just want to do it in GBand. Why doesn't GBand pause and keep the current notes lighten. ?
Instead it stops everything and the lighten notes are no longer displayed

There is unfortunately no tab key, however you can tap the spacebar with 3, 4, or 5 fingers to get that number of spaces. 4 should be about the space for a normal tab if I'm not mistaken.

Firefox 4.01 downloads files but the downloads windows greys out the "Open" and "Open containing folder" options and I can't trace the files

Three days ago I upgraded to Firefox 4.01. I downloaded several files that were ok. Yesterday and today I downloaded one powerpoint file and a an apple *.dmg file.
On the Download window these two files I can see with the total mb in size. However when I right click the file list in the Download window the "Open" and "Open containing folder" options are greyed out. What is more I cannot find these files anywhere on my computer when I use Windows Explorer to search.
It seems that this happened after I tried to download a Firefox add on from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/addons/64761/amazonassist-0.7.2.6-fx.xpi and my antivirus picked up the JS/Kryptik.AK trojan and terminated the connection. Is there a link with the problem I am experiencing?

When I download something from the Web, the "Downloads" window opens, but the window remains blank. Before it used to at least show the name of the file and I could open the file from the "Downloads" window. Is there a way to get this functionality back?

I'm running Windows XP which is updated to latest version (which I think might be Service Pack 3, but not positive.) Mozilla Firefox is version 5.0. I tend to use Google as my search engine so most of the stuff I download comes through sites found through Google, which is also updated.
At some time in the past (maybe a few versions ago) when I would download a file from the Web, the "Downloads" window would open and in the window would be displayed the name of the file I was downloading or had just completed downloading. I think I used to be able to then click on that file name and the file (or the installation file if needed to start the new program) would open. I am currently using Firefox 5.0 (the "About Firefox" screen says this is up to date) and when I download a file or document, the "Downloads" window appears on the screen as it always has in the past, but it remains blank, i.e., nothing appears in the downloads box. I don't remember making any configuration changes, etc., that may have caused the window to remain blank, but I could be mistaken. I know how to find the items I've downloaded (My Documents / Downloads) and can usually guess what the name of the downloaded file might be, but it used to be much easier when something (anything) showed up in the downloads window.

In Firefox Options / Privacy be sure "Remember download history" is checked. To see all of the options on that panel, "Firefox will" must be set to "Use custom settings for history".

Why doesn't the file progress show in the Activity Window

In Dreamweaver CS6 the file progress in the Activity Window doesn't show. In DW CS5 and before you could monitor the file as it uploaded. You could see how much of the file in increments was uploaded. Now the blue progress bar displays but I have no way of knowing how much of the file has uploaed until it's done. Is there a way to put that back yo how it was?

Seems the activity window has in fact changed in CS6. To see the progress you hold your cursor over the file you are transferring.
Not sold on DW CS6 so far to be honest...

Question: Moved a Feature film project file from pc to mac shot on a red. It loaded...media all linked..still says Media Offline in the preview window

So all the media is linked. Files play in the work window but not in the preview window... Thumbnails are all there....on the timeline it says all the media is linked...sound plays...but no vid...
on a mac late 2014 imac. 27 in. retina...3.5 Ghz processor 8 gigs ram...etc.

Process .bat files through the terminal Window?

Hi,
I have a large number of .bat file which have been generated from Rendering out of Maya (3D Application) on PC.
Usually I would process the bat files from within maya's script editor which would generate the Photoshop images.
The down side is it ties my PC up and I cant really do anything while these are processing .. and it take quiet a while.
I have Mac which doesn't have Maya... does anybody know if I can process .bat files maybe through the terminal window?. Problem is theres well over 10,000 images to process.
If it is possible to do this is there a way I can automate this process from the Terminal for all the files?

No problem, Kurt. There are several possible solutions for the OP (who seems to have disappeared!):
You mentioned already running Windows on the Mac. I have found Parallels great, so it should be as simple as setting up his virtual machine, installing his app and copying over the batch files. But he would need to purchase Parallels and have a Windows licence.
Unix has a much more sophisticated range of scripting facilities than the old DOS batch files, and there are free tools that do a lot of graphics processing.
Applescript can be used to control Graphic Converter (amongst others) - but OP refers to rendering, and I don't know if GC can do that (in fact I am fairly sure it can't).
So, to advise wr_uk we really need to know what those bat files are doing!
