SSIS 2008 Logging - SSIS Log Provider for SQL Server
Simple SSIS package - copies a table from Server A to Server B.
Everything works except logging using SSIS Log Provider for SQL Server. Selecting the similar events to using
SSIS Log Provider for Text Files does generates a file on the server.
I specified server B on the configuration for SSIS Log Provider for SQL Server.
Logged on with a username with sysadmin rights on Server B. Executed the package using that login and nothing is written to msdb..sysssislog
any ideas what's going on or what am I doing wrong?
Just to be sure that the basics are right :
You sure that you configured the log provider correctly?
Selected the required 'components' on the left bar?
Selected events on the Details Tab?
selected the right table? I mean it should be --> select * from msdb..sysssislog
The default schema in your DB setup is dbo right? Coz, if not the logging will be a real problem. You might wanna recreate the table then ..
Btw, if you still experience issues, I'd advise you to enable all events and check for logging just to make sure that there isnt any prob with the DB setup ..
Do try and let us know :)
Edited:
Also a few more:
Check what database you chose in the connection setting page of the logging configuration wizard and check for entries in sysssislog of tht DB as, the sysssislog will be created only in that db.
Ensure that you have execute permission on sp_ssis_addlogentry in that particular db (mostly msdb). Can be checked via:
select name,
has_perms_by_name(name, 'OBJECT', 'EXECUTE') as has_execute
from msdb.sys.procedures
where name like 'sp_ssis_addlogentry' --for 2008 edition and up
or name like 'sp_dts_addlogentry' --for 2005 edition
Thanks to @Sathyanarrayanans for pointing this out :)
Hope this should help ..

I'm getting above error in the pre- execute phase of a DFT when I'm trying to fetch data from a SSAS cube using mdx query.
I'm using OLE DB provider for connecting to cube.
I got one resolution for Error Code 0X8004005, which asked me to add 'Format= Tabular' in cube's connection string. It does not seem to work either. Can any one help me out on this???You are probably missing an update.
I saw a MS Connect post https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/250920/error-using-oledb-or-datareader-to-get-analysis-services-data where that suggestion was proposed as a fix, but is for an older SQL Server version.
So do there is a question if you pull data from SQL Server 2012 SSAS using SSIS 2012 (so no other build is involved).

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services Error Code = 0x80040E05
I've been running a package for 6 months without any issues that pulls data from a cube via MDX and moves it to a database.
We've recently moved to a new server x64 and the connections all succeed but at runtime (in 64 = T&F) I get the following error:

I've installed SQL_AS_OLEDB, SQL_AS_ADOMD from Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP1 Feature Pack
Why is my connection failing? The server has a 10Gbps network connection.
I've installed CU6 for SQL Server 2012 SP1

I'm still getting the same error at runtime in BIDS:

Please advice. I searched many places and did not get actual solution that will resolve my case.
Nusrat AkhterHi Nusrat Akhter,
According to your description, when installing the first install failed, and it looks like the instance did not uninstall completely. To solve the issue I recommend you changed the instance name in re-installing SQL Server, and check if it can work fine.
There is a similar issue that the SQL engine will not start, and there is no method of uninstalling either it, or any of the components etc. You can review the following post.

Attunity SSIS connector support for Sql Server 2014?
Hello,
We've been successfully using Attunity SSIS connector 2.0 for a couple of years with SQL SERVER 2012.
We developed some Visual Studio projects and deployed them on our SSISDB. Then launch them with scheduled jobs. Everything worked fine.
After we upgraded the server to Sql Server 2014 the connector failed with the following error:
The connection type "MSORA" specified for connection manager "XXX" is not recognized as a valid connection manager type.
This error is returned when an attempt is made to create a connection manager for an unknown connection type. Check the spelling in the connection type name.
We tried uninstall/install but was no good. Also 32/64 bits combinations.
We tried DTEXEC utility and worked fine on sqlserver 2012 folder ( \110\DTS\Binn) but didn't work on 2014's folder ( \120\DTS\Binn).
We also tried a fresh 2014 installation but keep getting the same error.
Does Attunity connector 2.0 support Sql Server 2014? If not, should I wait for a new version? Any workaround?
For now, we are using the DTEXEC utility on 2012's folder, but since we have to use the /sql option (/ISSERVER is not working) we can't pass parameters to the .dtsx package.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
DanielI'm with Daniel - Microsoft should be taking the lead in resolving this. We downloaded the previous two versions from Microsoft Download (e.g. link below) with no indication that Microsoft would wash their hands of future support.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29283
Attunity have replied on the thread on their forum - saying it is Microsoft's responsibility:
http://www.attunity.com/forums/microsoft-ssis-oracle-connector/attunity-ssis-connector-support-sql-server-2963.html
Trying to run, develop and support on parallel versions of SSIS is not a viable solution IMO.
I will advise all my clients who use these connectors not to upgrade to SQL Server 2014 until this is resolved. -
Crystal Log in to SQL Server fails
I have 12 years of working with Crystal Reports and have never seen this error. Version of Crystal is 2008 and the data is in SQL Server. The database connection is OLEDB and the report is connecting to the database using the sa account. The sa account has full rights to the database.
The report was written and was working great with no issues.
Recently it only works about 20% of the time. The other 80% of the time this error occurs after entering the user sa login and password

Missing Stored Procedure for SQL Server
Hello,
I'm trying to create the standard TestStand 4 schema for SQL Server. I get the following error when I run multiple numeric test cases:
An error occurred calling 'LogResults' in 'ITSDBLog' of 'zNI TestStand Database Logging'
An error occurred executing a statement.
Schema: SQL Server Stored Proc (NI).
Statement: MEAS_NUMERICLIMIT.
Could not find stored procedure 'InsertStepMeasNumericLimit'.
Description: Could not find stored procedure 'InsertStepMeasNumericLimit'.
Number: -2147217900
NativeError: 2812
SQLState: 42000
Reported by: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Source: TSDBLog
-2147217900; User-defined error code.
Step 'Log Results to Database' of sequence 'Log To Database' in 'Database.seq'
My process for creating the database is to create a .sql file from the TestStand database configuration window. I have selected SQL Server Stored Procedure. I then build the database by running the script in the Execute SQL window of the Database viewer. I don't get any errors when creating the database or the stored procedures. I have noticed that a stored procedure, called InsertMeasNumericLimit does exist. When I rename this procedure to InsertStepMeasNumericLimit, the sequence with the multiple numeric executes without error, and my data is in the database.
Now to my questions>
1. Am I doing something wrong in my procedure to create the database schema, that would cause this?
2. Have the NI schemas or DB calls in TS been changed since 3.5 and validated?
3. Has anyone else run across this problem, and what others can I expect to encounter with the SQL server stored procedure schema?
Thanks in advance for the help,
BCEbce,
1. What you are doing is correct. There is a bug with the SQL Server Stored Procedure. Apparently
2. The schemas hasn't changed since 3.5? Were you able to go through the same process in TS 3.5 without running into this error?
3. It looks like you have found the way to solve this problem. There are a few other step types that have similar error. Specifically the IVI steps. Before the bug is fixed, you can use validate to determines whether the statement and column information for the selected schema matches the tables and columns in the database. Alternatively, you may look at the file below to find out the correct spelling of the stored procedures.
<TestStand 4.0>\Components\NI\Models\TestStandModels\Database\SQL Server Create Stored Proc Result Tables.sql

Obtain Job invoker for a SSIS job scheduled in SQL Server Agent
Hello,
I was required to tell the job runner of a particular SSIS job scheduled in SQL Server Agent (in SQL Server Management Studio 2008 R2). I noticed that after running the job, a record can be found in msdb.dbo.sysjobhistory in the [message] columm saying that
the job is invoked by 'Domain\User'. Is there anyway I can acquire and upload that information into an audit table by adding some additional script into the job? I heard about using token to get job_ID, but what about the actual user name who runs
the job?
ThanksJust add retry attempts to whatever number you want (2 as per your original explanation) in Job step properties as below
Have a logic to include a delay of 10 mins . You can make use of WAITFOR function for that

Logs for sql server agent restart
Hi,
Can I get log on the sql server agent restart history of week. I mean the sql server agent has been restarted several times in last week I want to know the date and time when the sql server agent restarted in that week. Is it possible to get
the info?
Thanks in advance,
Pavan
PavanIn addition to Uri's post, here is some more information that might help you:
SQLAGENT.OUT, the log file for SQL Agent. SQL Server Agent can maintain up to 10 Error Logs files. The currently used SQL Server Agent Error Log will be named SQLAGENT.OUT
where is the SQLAGENT.OUT file?
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SQL2012\MSSQL\Log\
What will be when a new file create?
The old file should get a name like SQLAGENT.X and the new file get the name SQLAGENT.OUT (X is numbers 1-9)
This can help you to get more information on sql agent properties (like the location of the log file, the user that start the service and more):

Do we need to format data and log files with 64k cluster size for sql server 2012?
Do we need to format data and log files with 64k cluster size for sql server 2012?
Does this best practice still applies to sql server 2012 & 2014?Yes. The extent size of SQL Server data files, and the max log block size have not changed with the new versions, so the guidance should remain the same.

Download for SQL Server machine running Windows Server 2008 Enterprise SP2
I am confused what 11g product to download and how to configure for the above server. I just need for SQL Server 2008 to be able to communicate with some Oracle databases. I don't need to manage the Oracle database, nor do I need to create one. I just need to be able to create linked servers, use SQL Plus, and create some SSIS or DTS packages that will bring Oracle data into the SQL Server. I think I just need the client, but for 11g, I see it is less than 1GB in size. I am afraid I may be missing something because I thought the client downloads were about 2GB, but the 2GB downloads are not called "client". This is a 64bit machine running an Intel Xeon X7460 chip.
Our server has a C:\, D:\, and E:\ drive on it. The data (.mdf) is on drive E:\. The normal environment is on C:\ like usual. I also need to know if I need to set environment variables which I read about, but am not sure how to set them and make them stay, or if the software does that.
As an aside, I tried installing a 10g on there that the DBA downloaded and could never get it to work, although I was successful in getting tnsping to work, but SQLPlusW would close on me when I tried to connect and SQLPlus failed with some error but can't remember what right now. I uninstalled it. I think it may have been the wrong download.
I would appreciate any info at all, even if you don't know about everything said here.
I have a link here where I think I am close, but I still am not sure. Let me know if this is correct and which link to click. If I am wrong, please provide the correct link if you can. Thank you.

To integrate Oracle with SQL server you need the following
Install Oracle 11g Release 2 client software
Install Oracle 11g Release 2 ODAC software
Restart SQL services
Configure OraOLEDB.Oracle provider
Create linked server
Add remote logins for linked server

Hi,
For above error the error code is 2 which means system cannot find the file specified. It is saying it is unable to write at location which means SQL server account does not have access to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log\20140920_074907\Registry_SOFTWARE_Microsoft_MSSQLServer.reg_
You can manually go to the location and add required rights may be installable is corrupt
Now did you ran SQL server setup as administrator. Always right click on setup.exe file and select run as administrator.
Please make sure you disable antivirus running on machine. Also if you have any registry scanner software which scans registry remove it as well.

My Technet Articles -
HI,
I have installed Cumulative Update 12 for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 on my SharePoint instances. This was to resolve a known issue faced with the instance. CU12 helped resolve the issue. My company is rather strict regarding security hotfixes. But I am
not sure if this particular hotfix [Security Hotfix (KB2977319)] is required if the instance has CU12 applied.
Tested this on a Lab server, the installation did run fine, the summary log also stated that the KB is applied. But the Build Number did not change. Hence the doubt.

John SYes you must install Security update mentioned in KB 2977319 it is important for SQL Server to be patches with this security update. Without this it could allow an attacker to compromise your system and gain control over it.

Does MAP tool capture User Summary (count of users, their details) for SQL Server 2008?
At my end, its working for SQL Server 2012 but not showing User Summary for SQL Server 2008..
Does the User Summary only works for SQL Server 2008 Enterprise edition as one of the thread points out? This is from the
Wiki article:
SQL Server 2008 Enterprise and Datacenter Editions introduced audit event configuration for Windows security logging, which enabled SQL Server 2008 to log logon events to the Windows Security log. The table below shows which versions and editions have the Audit
feature that is needed to record the logon events. MAP cannot obtain user and device access information for any other editions or any older versions of SQL Server.
