SSIS Lookup Task is running endlessly.

Hello,
I have a Problem. At our SSIS package we have a lookup task running on full cache mode and finds no matches. It runs endlessly and doesn't fail, allthough it's configured at this case.
SQL Server (SSMS/SSIS/SSAS) is running on a virtual machine with windows server 2012 and SQL Server 2012 built 11.0.5058.
Does anybody has/had a similar problem and solved it?
Thanks,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
Based on my research, the issue can be caused by the memory is low or a deadlock occurs when several long-running transactions execute concurrently in the same database.
As to the memory issue, please refer to Arthur and Supriya’s suggestions. As to the deadlock issue, we can go to SSMS and check in Activity Monitor to see if you have locked resources during the load. To minimize deadlocks, we can set the full cache look
up transform to use Sorting within the TSQL statement to make sure the concurrent transactions access objects in the same order. Or set READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT database option ON to enable read-committed transactions to use row versioning.

  • Alerting for a SSIS 2005 task that runs indefinitely

    Hi,
    for a my SSIS 2005 package it occurs sometimes that a task runs in a indefinite manner (the color of the box remains yellow). Is it possible to capture a such event in order to alert a dba administrator? How?
    Many thanks

    Based on what I read you run it interactively (in BIDS), why?
    Yellow means something is not right with the task. Fix it!
    You of course can automate, but not purely with SSIS, so make up your mind what constitutes a threshold in terms of wait time, and then before running the culprit task insert a record into a table indicating its start. Next you may want to have a trigger
    starting an Agent job that checks say every 5 min if there is a record signalling the end of the task until the threshold elapses and then the job would send an-mail to your DBA.

  • SSIS Lookup Error ......Row yielded no match during lookup.

    I have a lookup which I know should bring back data but it is failing.
    I get the following error:
    [Lookup- Spec [1257]] Error: Row yielded no match during lookup.
    Mr Shaw

    Whats the caching mode used? Is it full or partial cache?
    There's a difference in the way comparison is done in both mode as in one case comparison takes place in SSIS engine whereas in other case it takes place in SQLServer.

  • Running a Select query against multiple sql servers using SSIS script task.

    Hi Guys,
    I need to fetch data from multiple sql servers using  SSIS scirpt task inside a foreach container.
    is there anyway i can build dynamic sql connections using ssis variables inside SSIS script task in each loop
    Please guide me or refer any blogs so that i will try..
    Thanks in advance.

    Your only options is using .net code, then it will be no different than using a console app in a loop.
    using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(connectionString))
    connection.Open();
    Console.WriteLine("ServerVersion: {0}", connection.ServerVersion);
    Console.WriteLine("State: {0}", connection.State);
    and so forth for each connection string
    the connection string would come from the ForEach loop

  • Fuzzy Lookup SQLDUMP when run in 32 bit

    I'm running a SSIS package on a 64 bit machine that has to run in 32 bit runtime as several data sources are from excel.
    After I've loaded the source data into SQLServer EE [64 bit] I run a fuzzy lookup to match & append some columns. The data flow runs fine independently when I set Run64BitRuntime to True but fails when I run the whole package in 32 bit.
    There are no telling error messages in BIDS and I enabled full logging to sysssislog. The data flow reads all of the oledb source records but the fuzzy lookup remains yellow before SQLDUMPER_ERRORLOG.log runs and the package fails.
    The Log reads:

    Is there anyway fix the above error and to run my package with this fuzzy lookup within a 32 bit runtime on a 64 bit machine?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    It's easy to reproduce, this seems to be a problem with the x64 fuzzy lookup task:
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/488387/fuzzy-lookup-triggers-sqldumper-even-with-very-small-dataset-with-run64bitruntime-set-to-false
    You can use a single package for your 32Bit dataflow. In your 64Bit package use the "Execute Process Task" to execute your 32Bit package with the dtexec.exe located in the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Binn\".
    Under "Process" you can use following settings:
    Executable: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Binn\DTExec.exe
    Arguments: /F "COMPLETE PATH TO YOUR 32BIT PACKAGE"

  • How can I use a Lookup task to lookup from my SQL Result set and have a join

    So in my Control Flow, I have an Execute SQL Task which gets my Table result set. I then have a Foreach Loop Container that iterates through the result set and a Data Flow. The first task in the Data Flow is an OLE DB Source SQL Command that retrieves data
    columns associated with my result set. I then do a Derived Column so I can SUBSTRING from one of my data columns and now I want to perform a Lookup to my Application Database.
    How do I code my Lookup task to utilize my SQL Result set variable and match on it? I cannot use the GUI for the Lookup task as my Lookup has to have some JOINS in it.
    Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.

    Can you expand on that? I'm sorry but I am new and a novice to the SSIS world and I want to do this as best I can and as efficiently as I can. Are you saying that Rajen's way suggested above is the way to go?
    A little background....external data from a 3rd party client. I'v staged that external data to a SQL Server staging table. I have to try and match that data up to our database using SSN, DOB, and Gender...and if I can't match that way then I have to try
    and match by Name. I need to make sure that there is only one and only one account for that match. If I cannot match and match one and only one, then I'll create rows on a DataAnomaly Table. If I do match, then I have to check and make sure that there is only
    one and only one Member span for that match. Similarly handle the data anomaly and then check and make sure there is a "Diabetes" claim and similarly handle the DataAnomaly accordingly.
    That's where I'm at. Sooooo are you saying to use Rajen's suggestion? I don't think I can do that because I need multiple SQL tasks and I cannot connect multiple OLE DB Source tasks.
    Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • SSIS : Read Rows from an Object variable in SSIS Script Task which is looped many times.

    Hello All,
    Here is what I am trying to do...
    1. I am having two rows, one column in an Object Variable. (vLoopCountObj).
    2. I am having 30 Rows, 2 Columns in my second Object  Variable (vTableRowsObj)
    3. I have a FOR EACH LOOP which will run for number of rows in vLoopCountObj i.e 2 times here.
    4. I have a Script Task inside the FOR EACH LOOP to display all the rows of vTableRowsObj.
    5. When I execute, 30 Rows gets displayed only once. It will not display when the loop goes for second iteration. Please help me to display for second time.
    6. I have used below code to display the rows whithin the script task which is in SSIS dataflow task.
    Imports System
    Imports System.Data
    Imports System.Math
    Imports Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime
    Imports System.Xml
    Imports System.Collections
    Imports System.Data.OleDb
    Public Class ScriptMain
    Public Sub Main()
    Dim oleDA As New OleDbDataAdapter
    Dim dt As New DataTable
    Dim col As DataColumn
    Dim row As DataRow
    Dim sMsg As String
    oleDA.Fill(dt, Dts.Variables("vTableRowsObj").Value)
    MsgBox("Number of Rows " + dt.Rows.Count.ToString())
    For Each row In dt.Rows
    For Each col In dt.Columns
    sMsg = sMsg & col.ColumnName & ": " & row(col.Ordinal).ToString & vbCrLf
    Next
    MsgBox(sMsg)
    sMsg = ""
    Next
    Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success
    End Sub
    End Class

    Hi Raj,
    It is verrrry interesting issue. I can also confirm that it doesnt loop again. I've made a simple test and figured that in the second loop even you fill the Dataadapter, record count is zero. Which brings me up to the idea: Somehow, after you read the object
    variable resultset, you can not read it again in the for each loop.
    Strange, probably a bug or a technical issue that is beyond my existing knowledge.
    I can provide a workaround. You can also loop in script task for first variable. (Nested loops)
    Let other members to examine and comment on this.

    Hello,

    I have tried to convert this ActiveX script into a SSIS script task in VB but I know hardly any VB... So I'm wondering what the best course of action for me is, should I try to convert it into the script task like I am trying now, if so, how do I make it
    work?
    Any help would be really really welcome.
    This is the original ActiveX script that needs to be converted:
    ' Visual Basic ActiveX Script
    Function Main()
    Dim sEnvironm
    Dim sServer
    Dim sSourceFile
    Dim sSourcePath
    Dim sBackupPath

    ' FILL IN THE RIGHT VALUES

    sFileName = "tbl_L00T1.txt"
    sUDLPath = "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MON_Datamart\MON_Datamart.udl"
    ' Initial
    FoundError = False
    ' Get a handle to the Package object.
    Set oPackage = DTSGlobalVariables.Parent
    ' Update DTSConnections
    Set oConnection = oPackage.Connections("tbl_L00T1.txt")
    oConnection.DataSource = sSourceFile
    Set oConnection = oPackage.Connections("Datamart")
    oConnection.UDLPath = sUDLPath
    Set oConnection = oPackage.Connections("Truncate")
    oConnection.UDLPath = sUDLPath
    ' Update DTSTasks
    Set oTask = oPackage.Tasks("DTSTask_DTSDataPumpTask_1").CustomTask
    oTask.SourceObjectName = sSourceFile
    oTask.DestinationObjectName = sEnvironm & ".dbo.stg_tbl_L00T1"
    ' Set Global vars
    DTSGlobalVariables("SourcePath").Value = sSourceFile
    DTSGlobalVariables("BackupPath").Value = sBackupPath
    DTSGlobalVariables("ErrorPath").Value = sErrorPath
    DTSGlobalVariables("FileName").Value = sFileName
    ' Clean up.
    Set oTask = Nothing
    Set oConnection = Nothing
    Set oPackage = Nothing
    Main = DTSTaskExecResult_Success
    End Function

    Set a breakpoint and tell us on what line it dies, at the same time, you can inspect the variable values in the Auto window (if there are) as it merely perhaps is an issue with values not being passed in.

  • Can I create a custom SCSM task that runs on the server?

    I'm new to SCSM (got roped in as the developer/Powershell guy). I see instructions for adding a custom task to SCSM, which I know generally run from the user's console, under their security context. I also found a reference to "runtime tasks" which
    run from the server. Is there a way for me to make a custom task that runs from the server?
    If it helps, I'll be creating a task that implements the Poweshell script found
    here that converts an incident to a service request. I'd much rather the conversion take place on the server so that we don't need to deploy the SMlets Powershell module (and another dependency) on each user's workstation.
    Thanks!

    Sorry for my English, I' ll try to explain my problem.
    I am new to SSIS. Using this article http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dataaccesstechnologies/archive/2010/01/28/consuming-web-services-in-ssis-script-task.aspx I have tried to consume web service.
    1. I have created proxy class using VS Command Prompt
    2. A have added proxy class to Script Task
    3. But when I  want to create the instance of the proxy class, it can be accessed from the ScriptMain.cs.
    I will be very pleased for the help!

    perhaps you missed this step:
    --> Modify the code and add Credentials before calling the web method:
    Public
    SubMain()
    Dim
    ws As NewService1
    ws.Credentials =
    New System.Net.NetworkCredential("user name",
    "password",
    "domain name")
    MsgBox("Square
    of 2 = "& ws.Square(2))
    Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success
    End
    Sub

  • MDT 2010 Deleted task still running

    Hi Guys, I have been using MDT 2010 with Litetouch for deploying Windows 7 x64 clents for the last month. I have a main task sequence which does the deployment and a test task sequence for me to try new things out.
    On the test task sequence I created custom task which deletes a desktop icon, the problem now is that even after I have deleted this task it still runs even though its not in the task sequence any longer.
    Even when I create a new task sequence the deleted custom task still runs! This is very strange any ideas?

    Hi,
    it sounds impossible :)
    I think the same action might have been configured in another step, or it might be added as a dependency on some application.
    To verify, you could take a look at the xml files that descrive your applications and taks sequences in .\control.

  • Scheduled Tasks wont run

    I had recently upgarded to CF8 from CF7.
    After the upgrade non of my Scheduled Tasks are running.
    Even when i trigger the tasks manually from CFAdmin I get the response "This scheduled task was completed successfully."
    But nothing really runs. My application is using Integrated Windows Authentication and the schedulled tasks were running fine with CF7.
    Now when i switch off the Windows authentication, the scheduled tasks are working fine.
    Could you please tell me why my Scheduled Tasks are not running when i turn on Windows authenticaton, where as it was working perfectly with CF7.

    ColdFusion schedule tasks CAN NOT run under windows integrated authentication.  ColdFusion is not a windows product, it does not pass the NTML headers with requests.  You have to turn off windows integrated authentication for any resource you would like to run as a schedule task.  Helpfully, you can set that permssion to individual files and|or folders so you do not need to turn it off for the entire site.
    I don't know why this would change after an upgrade, unless you built a new CF8 server with a newly built IIS as well.

  • Before Report Trigger Running Endlessly

    Hi all,
    I got the following query in my before report trigger. But the system is running endlessly without stop. Any advise is appreciated.
    function AfterReport return boolean is
    begin
    delete chart_temp;
    COMMIT;
    IF :P_1 IS NOT NULL THEN
         INSERT INTO CHART_TEMP VALUES ( :PERIOD1, :M1 );
    ELSE
    IF :P_2 IS NOT NULL THEN
    INSERT INTO CHART_TEMP VALUES ( :PERIOD2, :M2 );
    END IF;
    END IF;
    COMMIT;
    return (TRUE);
    end;
    rgds
    Lim

    Rules-wise, you have the beforeReport trigger before the dataStructure, and that is correct. Syntax, the parameter is going in okay. Question is then the logic or data. Does the function work outside of this? That is, if you were to exec the function in an anonymous block of PL/SQL, do you get the desired output (i.e., test for boolean value returned)?
